View 1 Replies View RelatedI did a re-install of my operating system the other day and im sure i messed up something because i deleted the whole parameter first or whatever its called then reinstalled with the CD that came with my laptop. this is an older model 5160 Inspiron Pentium 4.Everything seems to be working fine except that there is no wireless connection icon or anything of the kind now. I have looked and looked and the only icons to connect with are the local area connection - no wifi connect.

View 12 Replies View RelatedI just did a fresh install of xp on a work computer(virus, nasty stuff), and now it will not connect to our office network. I've had to do this before, and we had an outside guy come in. He took two seconds in the cmd prompt and fixed it. I've reinstalled all the drivers and I did a network diagnostic. The only spot it's showing a fail is at the dnssearchorder

View 1 Replies View RelatedComputer got bad virus (the FBI one on the news) so after every attempt to eradicate it failed, I did a fresh install of Windows 7 onto the computer. However for some reason it won't even acknowledge that it has a Network Adapter. When I go to Driver Devices, there is no Network Adapter to even click on to see what the adapter is so I know what kind of driver to install.
So being an optimist I installed several drivers and nothing has worked. Its set on cable connection and I can't get it to acknowledge its wi-fi. I haven't tried plugging it straight into the modem yet. That's my next step.
I am working with windows xp Connected wired(ethernet) Now i am struggling with network connection problem when i checked in Control Panel-->Network Connection options i found that there is no LAN icon displayed And the "NETWORK ADAPTER ICON" is missing in Device manager.what should i do to connect to internet and to get the network adapter icon

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just recently got a new SSD, and I fresh installed windows 7 on it. I booted up, noticed that my internet connection would go from the red x to the swirly blue to say it was connecting, but back to the red x. I installed drivers from my MB CD just to get them on there, and I installed the LAN drivers that came with it. No luck.I go to Device Manager and see that it has my reltek LAN ethernet driver in there, NIC(NDIS 6.2) #3 So, then I checked the cable, I assumed this wasn't the issue, but just double checked. It worked in this laptop I'm using now. Then, I tried to window trouble shoot it. IT says a network cable is not properly plugged int(false, i tested the cable)It then says, Local Area Connection 2 doesn't' have a valid IP configuration.I went into CMD and typed /ipconfig release and renew I would get No operation can be performed on local area connection 2 while its has its media disconnected and An error occurred while renewing interfaces local area connection 2 : The operation was cancel by the used.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am having trouble installing drivers for my ethernet controller. When I look in device manager, there is a yellow question mark next to Ethernet Controller (along with some other devices). I have identified that I have a Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet Controller (don't know the term for exactly what I am looking to find drivers for, is it just the "ethernet chip"? or "ethernet controller?"). It is a BCM5754 (VEN_14E4 DEV_167A). I am running Windows XP home sp3, which I updated to from sp1 via USB. How do I install drivers to get onto the internet?

The software is installed, and setup, however I cannot get it to add any devices to the inventory. Every device it trys to talk to is classed as unreachable.
I can telnet into each switches from the server, however the LMS software for some reason cant speak.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a compaq presario v2000 that i just installed windows 7 hope premium on (did a full hdd wipe, and reinstall windows)Windows 7 wireless connection manager can see all available wifi connections, but will not connect to any of them.Ive tried this on WPA2 networks, unsecured networks at several places (my office, wendy's, mcdonald's, my home, etc) i dont think it's the internal wifi card, as I could connect to those networks ok before the wipe/reload.I'm thinking it's a driver issue, but it's using the WHCL driver dated 2009 that is included in Windows 7, and I've not been able to find a more up-to-date one.device manager shows Broadcom 802.11b/g WLAN, but not exact model number.Compaq support site has drivers for XP & Vista only, and the Vista driver page doesn't include wifi card drivers.
View 2 Replies View Related I have a Dell XPS 8300 desktop. The desktop recently got a virus which caused me to completely reformat the computer. I thought the PC came with a drivers CD but either it did not or I cannot find one. Now that I installed a fresh copy of Windows 7 it will not connect to the internet. I have tried downloading all network drivers, bios drivers and making sure BIOS is enabled but still I am unable to connect to the internet.
What can I do to fix this problem or is there any place that I can purchase the actual drivers CD for my PC so that this does not happen again? I have gone to the drivers and downloads page, put my tag number in and literally downloaded every single driver listed and still it is giving me the "no connection detected" error.
I have a HP Compaq NC4000 with windows Home Edition XP and and under Network connections I no longer have my ethernet connection icon.My LAN (the wireless conection is fine)I have reinstalled the ethernet driver from the HP support and reboted the system yet the icon still does not show.Under Device mangaer only the Wireless is showing (right click my computer, properties, Hardware, devicemanager, network adapters)When i disconect from the wirless There is no conection to ethernet
View 12 Replies View RelatedI'm using my home desktop to make this post. This is issue is with my Dell laptop that--up till an hour ago--had a wireless area connection icon in the lower right corner and a Wireless Area Network option when I went to "Network Connections" (I still have my LAN option.) I was using a Driver Whiz program to update all my drivers when it said I needed some Intel Wireless Config program. So I downloaded it but at the end I had no Internet access and no icon, etc. So I uninstalled that program but it was too late. I've even tried a system restore to a few hours prior to this mistake of mine to no avail. My husband says I need to connect hardwire to the Internet and download a WAN driver...is that correct?
View -1 Replies View RelatedI have a Lenovo 3000g430. I went to the Network connections, and I cannot find Local area connect. We have a Broadband connection that we shared among our friends. Since there is not local area connection Icon, I am unable to connect to internet. In the Network connection, I can find Dial-up(Bluetooth connection and Nokia USB modem OTA); under LAN or High Speed Internet, there is only this Wireless network connection. All of these are working fine. I have checked the device manager and BIOS, everything seems fine and Enabled. To resolve this issue, I have visited many sites and downloaded a Device driver from Lenovo, Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet and installed it again, still no change.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhenever I plug in an ethernet cord into the integrated ethernet port in my laptop, I do not get a connection and the "Local Area Connection" icon doesn't show up in the Network and Sharing Center or the Device Manager. When I do plug it in, the "Local Area Connection" icon shows up for a second saying it's unplugged and disappears. I have tried different ethernet cables as well as an ethernet adapter (which does show up in the Network and Sharing Center, but I still don't get a connection).

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a general networking question regarding VLANS, multiple broadband connections and accessing PC's on both setups from each other. What I would like to do is have 2 broadband connections, one a cable connection and one a DSL connection. I would like to run them both through a Netgear FS-726T switch. Since the cable connection will go through a Linksys router giving out I.P.s in the range of 192.168.1.x and the DSL will probably use the same range, I would like to keep specific PC's connecting through the DSL connection and some other PC's specifically through the cable connection. I THINK that this can be done via the use of VLAN's set up on the Netgear switch but I am unfamiliar with setting them up. I've read through the manual and researched it online but I must be missing something. Just can't seem to figure it out so it's time to ask the experts. Due to the bandwidth limitations on the Comcast connection, I would like to avoid any data coming from the PC's on the DSL connection from going out through the cable connection (I do customer support for my business and want customers to be able to access files on my file server and also be able to back up their PC's online to my backup server but on the DSL connection. I will eat up my cable bandwidth in a hurry just from the backups alone. I would like to set up all the PC's with static I.P. addresses if possible. Now, I also need to be able to remotely access any of the PC's from outside my network (which I can do now) but I need to be able to access the cable connected PC's from the DSL connected PC's and vice versa.
View 1 Replies View Relatedsetting up a simple internet plan for a place, but a LAN center needs crazy fast internet, faster than most large enterprise class offices that take up an entire floor or two. Otherwise there is too much lag in games like first person shooters. We are expecting to have 60 computers, plus people bringing their own gaming rigs from home and laptops as well, xbox, ps3 and other consoles, all accessing the internet at the same time to varying degrees, with no room for lag. There is a LAN center in california that has 200 or more computers and they pay for 9 t3 lines, which is thousands and thousands of dollars per month. Plus the initial equipment to set that up from what I can find on cdw is many thousands of dollars also. Something like 10,000 for a router with 4 expansion bays, and 4000-6000 dollars for a t3 expansion card, bringing the total to around 22-28,000 for equipment to do just 4 t3's. Plus the monthly cost. Since we don't need all of the traffic to be secured like a high end business class line like a t3, I was considering what it would be like, and how one would set up, having multiple cable internet lines coming in. They make cable wic cards for cisco routers. 4, 50meg cable lines would give us 200 down and 40 up but I don't know how to make that work without having multiple public ip's. I was thinking that if I did have multiple public ip's on the network I could just divide the computers up so that they are in groups, using all of the public ip addresses for gateways, so that the load is split pretty evenly, but still, there should be a more seamless way to do this, I just don't know what it is. At the rate for business cable internet, 4 lines would probably only cost around 700 dollars a month, which is much better than probably 5 grand a month for several t3 lines.
View 3 Replies View RelatedXP Pro SP2 New Install - No Internet Connection (Icon)I just did a full install of XP Pro SP2 on a new 3 TB drive. I have downloaded all the most recent drivers for this motherboard. I'm running an EVGA NForce 680i SLI Motherboard (model# 122-CK-NF68). However the problem Im having is that in the Network Connection window there is no 'icon' to configure for my ethernet connection. I have looked at the Device Manager and ALL components are working properly. There are no 'X' or '?' labelled on any of the Network devices. I have done a ton of research on this Forum and have tried a dozen things and still can't seem to figure it out. I dont have intermediate syndrome so I'm not willing to take any chances with something I don't know.
