Broadband :: Internet Not Working After Virus Removal?
Mar 20, 2011
I had virus called Anti Malaware Doctor. Its a nasty trojan virus. Managed to clear up with Malaware bites and Hijack this but now the internet is down. Some drivers seems to be mising
My desktop got a virus about 1 month ago. Until then my internet connection was working fine. We removed the virus but our internet is still not working. I called my internet provider and we spent hours trying to figure it out and it wouldnt work. So they told me it was the computer. my daughter got a new laptop and we plugged the cable into her computer and the internet worked perfectly. I contacted emachines but they charge me for customer service.
I have windows xp media center version 2005...I removed a couple of viruses several days ago and now I cant get onto the internet....I am however, connected to it, but my LAN connection says that it is aquiring an IP address...I had a missing netbt.sys file but replaced it and still no internet access...
I recently removed trojan horse and malware using AVG. This was successfu,l but when I rebooted the machine it will not recognise any network connections, sound etc or operated software such as excel.ll the devices appear to be installed but won't work. When I try to open Intel it shows a message 'No supported wireless adapters available in the system'.
I had a serious infection in my PC desktop (a very harmful class of rootkit) and the only onle solution was Combofix. But after "cleaning" my Internet connection is not working anymore. All the solutions I have found about restoring Winsock funcionality were useless.I have a laptop connected via Wi-Fi and it is working fine. So any problem with my modem or router should be ruled out.Especially because the same desktop can connect to the Internet using Ubuntu Linux.
After running my malware anti-virus and removing all the virus, my Local Area Connection keeps saying network cable unplugged. I checked the network adapters and everything is fine. When I did an ipconfig, there's no ip address showing. I have Windows XP. I've tried almost everything and it's still not working.
Few days ago the wireless in my son's Dell Inspiron 620 went bad. It does connect to my old router (WEP), but speed is terrible and connection goes bad after some time. I can also see my modern router and enter the key successfully (WPA2), but it won't connect. Connection to both routers went well for months before, and still goes well from all other devices in the house.
I read the issue with McAfee that was posted late August and followed the steps. Connection in safe mode didn't work. Then I removed McAfee from the PC, no difference. Then I restored the PC to a couple of days before the issues began, removed McAfee again (as it came back through the restore), no difference.
I reinstalled the drivers of the Dell wireless card, no difference.
I was trying to do something with wifi settings in my DSL router modem and I messed up. So I created a new DSL router configuration with PPPOE and internet is getting automatically connected and working fine. But, When I go to connect to the internet it is giving me Error 651. But, the internet is working fine, when I checked in Networks LAN was configured to connect to the internet but not the connection I regularly use. The status is "Currently connected to network". The connection I use to connect to the internet is now giving 651.
I downloaded and ran the norton removal tool on my pc which has a wired connection to my router but when I restarted I had lost internet connection. I ran the diagnostic tool and it said 'Invalid IP address' and repeated 'Unexpected error from iphlpapi: The pipe is being closed' several times
I tried rebooting the router and the following -
Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog Reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ip reset reset.log But nothing has worked. The 3 laptops and Xbox connected to the router are still working fine.....
I'm having is I used to have a virus on my computer, until running a number of scanners to get it off. I'm pretty sure it's clean at this point, but now I've ran into the problem of not getting any internet from my ethernet cord. I've tried plugging in another and it gave me the same problem. I've tried running WinSock hoping it was just a registry problem I could fix, but that didn't seem to work. I also tried running "ipconfig /all" in my command prompt and got this error: [code] I'm running Windows XP Professional, Service Pack 2.I'm at the point where I'm considering just reinstalling Windows, but I figured I might as well ask someone who knows better than I do of a better alternative.
Today I got the Win 7 virus on my laptop and did a system restore under safe mode and downloaded malwarebytes via pen drive from another computer and did the full scan and nothing came up. Computer is now showing nonsigns of the virus but Internet is unable to connect to the wireless. My regular virus protection isn't working well either, it won't let me scan my computer and real-time scanning keeps turning off after I set it on.
I encountered a similar problem of no internet after virus removal.
a) IE shows "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" b) MSN and Skype do not seem to respond as well c) My laptop is connected to a router and I'm able to access other PC on the LAN, but not anything requires internet access d) The LAN icon on the taskbar shows my PC is connected to both the router and the internet (but internet just somehow doesnt work) e) Proxy option isn't enabled f) Booted my Win Vista in Safe Mode with Networking, internet doesnt work as well g) output from ipconfig seems ok; able to ping gateway ip h) checked the list of network services posted on this thread; they're all started i) Removed my antivirus program and disabled windows firewall; to no avail as well j) MSN repair suggests that there's firewall/ dns issue that causes MSN couldnt connect k) Both wired and wireless connections used to work; but both not working now l) Other PCs on the LAN are able to connect to internet
After getting virus and cleaning the system as requested, including all of the registry items not required, I have been unable to get onto the internet.Bad Image Error.I have a Mesh PC, running XP SP3.The motherboard is MS-7207 ver2.I've tried reinstalling the ethenet drivers but to no avail.I can see the network adapter in the control panel and it says the drivers are installed OK.The green light comes on when the cable is plugged in but not the yellow data lamp.I have a second hard drive from an old PC that I reinstalled windows on booted from, I updated the drivers and successfully connected to the internet, which proves all the hardware and drivers do work, but just not on my main hard drive containing my proper windows install.I'm logging this fault on my work laptop as its the only way I can get on line. (My work laptop works at home over the same broadband connection I have used previously.
I have Windows Vista. So I had a virus that was making it impossible for me to open a web browser without it starting a fake security scan and spamming my screen with multiple browsers. I had no other choice but to do a system restore since I had this problem in the past and a system restore fixed my computer. But, after the system restore, I can connect to the network using a wireless, but when I try to open any browser(firefox/internet explorer) it says internet explorer cannot display the webpage or server not found on firefox. I've tried resetting my internet settings, but no luck. I also don't have an internet security anymore since I was trying to install Kaspersky, but kept having trouble installing it properly.
XP Home edition, went to tools can't find working off line or working online to make sure off line is not checked so I can get on line DSL Verizon , Wireless router, wireless switch in on, on the cpu
having a problem with my Linksys wireless adapter: the light will flash a few times when I plug it in, then it will turn off. It won't let me connect to the internet or my printer. It's not the port: it is recognized when I put it in any other port, but it still won't connect. I think it's a virus, but my antivirus software isn't showing anything when I run a full scan (I use Malwarebytes Free). I'm gonna put AVG on a flash drive from another computer and try to use that later today, but right now I've been thinking that I might have to back everything up and reinstall windows.
-Windows Vista- Home Premium
-Linksys Wireless USB Network Adapter (I think it's WUSB600N, not sure though)
1) I had Windows XP 2012 Security virus that I removed. The antivirus software also removed afs.sys and afs.reg file, that I repalced from backup. I also copied and merged afs.reg Doing this got me an ipaddress for my PC.
2) I can not connect my wired desktop to the Internet. I can ping the ip address of google.com but not the url. I can also not ping ip address of netgear.com. My laptop has no problem connecting to the wireless network.
3) I ran Winsockxpfix and flushed dns and no luck. [code]
i changed my laptop from windows 7 home basic 32bit to ultimate 64bit but now the programs in the old windows does not want to install, and i was asking is the anyway i could get the programs from my old windows to work on my new windows? my laptop is a HP 620
our windows PC's will connect to the home (wireless) network briefly (~15 sec) and then lose the internet connection. The wireless connection seems to stay strong. During that period any browser activity will result in a DNS error message and the Win7 network signal shows strong but not connected to the internet. We tried setting static IP addresses on the PCs but no luck. A number of PC's all running Win7 exhibit this issue. After 5-10 min it reconnects and everything is normal.Network is a 20 mbs cable based system.
I don't think it's my PC, because I tried using the Ethernet cord on my laptop, and got the same error "limited or no connectivity..." When I try to troubleshoot on my PC, it says the modem is fine. All the lights are green on the modem. I did notice that I have an IP address, but no Gateway Address. Also, I'm sending few packets, but receiving even fewer. Is it safe to say that this is a modem issue? Or something else? Is there anything that can be done? -resetting the modem did not work.
I connected a Belkin Surf N300 Wireless N Modem-Router have been trying 2 weeks to get it to work wirelessly, The icon for Belkin bottom right side of screen says "Connected to the belkin router via ethernet cable, and if I click the icon for computer connection info it says "Unidentified network (Belkin) Acess: Local Only.) I can use the internet while I have the ethernet cable attached to computer and using wired broadband, but once I take out cable I lose all connection. Have been in touch with Belkin by phone for 4 hours, they replaced unit but still can't get the wireless internet, the wireless is turned on(WAN & Bluetooth are turned on)
Ethernet stop working, but the wireless is fine, check in the device manger for any conflics none. open the network sharing centre and ran the truoble shooting utiiity and message came up with ethernet cable not plug in or brocken, which i have change it for a new one so its not the cable and its not the routor because B.T just gave me the new B.T Hub3, this network adaptor is on board and i have a wireless card in the PCI slot and the is a new main board which i built, everything was fine afew months ago til this started to acur
I have 2 ASA 5540's that I want to run in HA A/F. The active ASA has an IPS module running. I no longer need this and would rather remove it than purchase another module for the spare. What is the process to do this safely? After removal will the HA wizard recognize that the module was removed or do I have to update the software?
I have this router; WRT54G3G. I wasn't experiencing any problems with it however over the last 3 weeks I have been having difficulty accessing my own website when the router is being used. the link is: [URL].. This is really strange I can't get my head around it, when I do a straight connection from the modem to PC the web page works so it isn't my ISP blocking the website. It just doesn't work when being accessed through the router. When I go through a proxy site such as [URL] it works, the webpage loads! In Google Chrome the error message I get is:
Error 118 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT): The operation timed out.
I've got a 3845 and a 2821 and I need to add another WAN interface card on each router and wonder if this can be done live while the router is running.
After an hour on the phone with the Linxys support people I'm feeling like I've been scammed.I have a 2 year old, almost to the day, Linxys Wireless-N Broadband Router, model # WRT160NVZ, which decided to stop working today. I contacted Linxys support and was told since it is 2 years old it's no longer under warranty, ok. If I choose I can pay for a service call and the tech may be able to fix the router, no guarantee. I had another option to purchase a service plan but again no guarantee repairing the router. My third option was to purchase a brand new wireless router for a discounted price, if I chose this option the tech would attempt to repair the router at no charge. I expressed my concern that it would take a few days to receive the new router and what would I do while waiting. I was then assured the router I have now could be repaired and would be able to hold me over until I received the new router. So I chose the 3rd option purchasing a M20 wireless router to be shipped to me within 3 days. After providing my credit card number and billing/shipping address the technician was now able to work with me in trying to repair the current router. He had me access the Linxys website, he instructed me in resetting the router and resetting the settings for it on the website and PRESTO, my 2 year old router now works again.but feel that this is a scam, programmed in the router to occur within 2 years of purchasing where the settings entered no longer work but once changed works perfectly well.
Is there a way on the security appliance SA520 to remove someone from the DHCP lease client manually rather than setting the DHCP lease time to expire in less time like 4 hours or 2 hours. I was able to do this on other routers by highlighting the connected device and click remove. If not any recommendations on how to handle the device that are attached via DHCP and the person is no longer here, but the lease time is not up. I have set DHCP lease time to 4 hours.
