Broadband :: Cannot Access Internet And Network With Any Program
Mar 9, 2012I have two windows.Windows XP and seven.My Windows XP cant connect to the internet.I was downloading a file With IE when my ISP experienced problems and my internet was shut down.Internet explorer was not responding and finally crashed my whole computer.from then on no programs like IE ,Google Chrome , Firefox or even VPN and Dial-up connections can get me connected to the internet. I installed windows seven and internet works fine there but MANY of my programs are on the xp and i'm more familiar with that windows. How to connect that to the internet? [code]

Aug 29, 2011my gateway laptop, running vista 64 home premium, cannot connect to the internet at home. connects straight to the modem via ethernet. displays as 'unidentified network'. according to the Atlantic BB tech(my ISP), my laptop is not obiaining an IP addy from the modem. The modem seems good, and the tech could see the modem from his end, but no IP addy from the laptop. ran ipconfig /all from home and the gateway was 207.255.36.1(preferred) instead of 192.168.x.x So i'm stumped with no net at home. the ipv4 properties do have the obtain automatically button checked, and dhcp is enabled. had the tech reset the provisioning on the modem & he said the mac addresses were cleared already. i reset the ipv4, ipv6, and winsock. haven't gotten anywhere. tech's last advice was to bring the modem back and swap it for another one.

Aug 22, 2012I have two PCs with the same problem. The ethernet port on the motherboard does not recognize an Internet connection. I'm running Win 7 64 bit Pro on both. My older PC needs to have the enternet cable disconnected before Windows boots, then once the OS is all booted, I plug the ethernet cable back in and I get an internet connection. On my new PC, I had to go into Device Manager and delete the ethernet card ( not the drivers) then reboot. Windows then recognized the card and connection and the Internet works. What is causing this? One PC is an Intel I-7 quad core, the new one is an Intel I-7 six core. Both hardwired to the Belkin N router. My old XP PCs do not have this problem.

Apr 17, 2011I was able to go onto the internet with no problem. I've been searching forums trying to solve my problem but to no avail. I have Windows XP installed, I can connect to the LAN network but I cannot go online. I can ping the gateway but not the DNS as well as other address name or ip address. This is the output of ipconfig /all:

Jan 20, 2011For the past week my computer will not open a web page. I've done everything that I can think to and nothing has worked. I finally reformatted my computer today and still the problem exists. So, I've continued to try and figure it out, but have been completely unsuccessful. I have been able to pull up a partial web page by typing in the IP address. All things point to a DNS issue and even the Network Diagnostics tool indicates that.

The blinking light on the right side of the keyboard that indicates the network adaptor and modem are working isn't blinking today. It is a solid light. Apr 22, 2013I have a Packetfront DRG700 broadband modem (fiberoptic), which also has a wireless DHCP server built-in. In addition I have a D-Link DIR-615 router which is connected by cable to the modem. I want both units to be wireless access points for the same local network.
I've tried disabling the DHCP server on the D-Link and naming both units with the same SSID and passphrase, but that didn't work because whenever I'm wirelessly connected to the D-Link, I get an IP address from my broadband provider and not from the DHCP server on my modem; i.e. I'm no longer connected to my local network.
I'm told by my provider that the reason is because the DHCP server on the DRG700 only works wireless, while the LAN ports are given IPs from outside the house. (I would use one of these ports for my broadband TV decoder.)
