I've never had this problem before with my ISP (Knology).But supposedly they had a scheduled maintenance real early this morning before 6 AM.Well, ever sense they did maintenance the router will not work and neither will my old one. The new router is a netgear, the old one is a linksys.I called them a few times and everything they had me try did not fix the problem.I can get internet access connected directly to the modem just can't get the router to work.When I right click and diagnose the problem it tells me that it's a connectivity issue with the modem. When I use my old linksys router and diagnose the problem it tells me that the DNS server is not responding.I have also tried resetting the new and old routers to default settings and started fresh.
I have a Linksys Cisco system router and cannot get it to work, I believe I have it hooked up right. I am wanting it for a Sylvania wireless mobile internet device.
I'm trying to ensure I have wireless coverage in my entire house and having extreme difficulty getting all machines to play nicelyWireless modem router #1 (downstairs in my house) is connected to the ADSL line and has the following config:IP Address = 192.168.1.1 DHCP on DHCP pool 192.168.1.3-192.168.1.100 Subnet = 255.255.255.0 Wifi channel = 1 Wireless router #2 (upstairs) is connected by ethernet cable to Wireless modem router #1 and has the following config:IP Address = 192.168.1.2 DHCP off Subnet = 255.255.255.0 Wifi channel = 11 Different SSID and encryption key to Wireless modem router #1 With this configuration, I can connect to the internet via both routers and all seems to be well. Except... having established a connection through either one, my machines will only make a pretend connection with the other one. By "pretend", I mean that the (Windows) machine says it has an excellent connection to the router but can only see machines on the LAN - it cannot get to the internet even though other machines are connected through the same router to the internet.
For example, if I'm sitting next to the downstairs router and establish a connection with it, all is well. Then I move upstairs and my machine switches to the upstairs router. Signal strength will be reported as "Excellent" and I'll be able to connect to the local NAS or printer but no external devices or sites.I have tried having the same SSID and wireless configuration on both but the result was the same.Today I read the suggestion to enable the DHCP server on the 2nd router but to set it to distribute a different non-overlapping IP range (i.e. router 1 can have a pool of 192.168.1.3-192.168.1.50, and router 2 can have a pool of 192.168.1.51-192.168.1.99)
I have an RV180 VPN router.I try to enable the VPN users with PPTP or QuickVPN but is not working.For PPTP sometimes my windows 7 connects to the router, sometimes doesn't connect with a random error message.When it connects, the windows 7 from outside the lan can see the computers from inside the lan but the computers from inside the lan cannot see the windows7 one. This is random also. When i succed to connect, from that computer, the internet is not working anymore.I tried to set the VPN in the same subnet as lan, i tried with different subnet. Is not working.I updated the last firmware. The same.Restore factory settings couple of times, the same.
I have two routers 2811, which set ntp client. Different versions of the IOS, other devices are working properly. My routers takes time to ntp with other router,which take time from ntp server.
Rx:, recently I have perchase 2 RV120W routers thinking that it must be very easy to setup the site to site vpn. i cannot get my remore office to link to my main office and vice verser.

Q1 why I cannot use dynamic DNS naming in the policy setting ? eg: aaa.dyndns.org, I have to use the ip address instead eg: 203.117.222.221
Q2. I cannot connect from Site A to Site B , I can't even do a ping to 192.168.11.1 from Site A. even though it show the Site to site tunnel is coonected.
I have a cable modem in my house out of which i have a run of cat5 cable to an external garage with a terminatiion point on wall. if i run a cat 5 lead from the wall to back of laptop i can connect to internet but i want to connet a wireless router in the garage so i can use laptop wirelessly I have a buffalo air station router which worked perfectly in another area of house but when i run cable from socket in wall in garage to router it will not pick up internet?
When first set up, Linksys router works well but then when I reboot, it is not recognized and I get no computer connection. Read that I need to change an IP address.
I bought a Canon Pixma mg3220 all in one printer/scanner today. I specifically picked it for the Airprint feature for my IPhone, which I can't get to work. I'm planning on running our work network using this device to load balance between 3 WAN connections and would like to keep the upstairs and downstairs computer users separated via a switch.Will the switch affect the load balancing or will the router still be able to detect each individual user and balance the load as seen necessary?
Apple AirPlay won't work on AppleTV (from neither computer nor iPhone) with my new Cisco small busines router WRVS4400N. It was working just fine on old consumer level linksys router. I have spent 3 hours with Apple support to no avail. Apple TV works fine on internet functions (netflix, YouTube, etc.) and I can play music and videos from the cloud, but iPhone and computer can't connect to AppleTV even though the icons appear in iPhone and Computer... just can't establish a connection.
Today i have a Linux computer as a router and it works fine, but when i change to my RV042 the software VPN stops to work (VPN Direçáo) on the computer. We use this software VPN for the card payments (D-TEF) so i have to get it to work. I opened the same ports as i had in the Linux on the RV042 did not work, i opened all port on the RV042 did not work, i put it in DMZ mode and it did not work, i opened it all to the IP address of the computer that has the program on it. The computer with the VPN software has a fixed IP adress.

I have been unable to get the UPnP function to operate on this router. Box has been checked and saved several times with no results. Ports cannot be opened maunally as well. I have been through every page looking for something that was missed, along with the sparse documentation instructions to no avail.
UPnP and port forwarding worked fine on the residental E3000 router that this replaced. I thought this was an upgrade, but it is seeming like a downgrade now.
I have a motorola usb modem which is connected to my laptop and i have shared the connection and have an ethernet cable from laptop to wireless modem (TP-LINK) such that other wifi enabled devices can connect to it.Now we have electricity blackouts and when that happens my wireless router gets turned off. Internet on the laptop is working fine, now when the electricity comes back and the wireless router is on, the net does not work on the other wifi devices and only my laptop (as its directly connected to the modem).I have to reboot my laptop for the shared connection to work.
basically, my iMac detects the extender as routername_EXT which is fine, but says that the password i type is wrong. when i use my original router with my iphone with the same password it works, but when i try to use it with my extender it says that the password is wrong.
Until recently when we changed the router at work, I can access work files from my laptop and notebook from home. It seems the problem is probably from my home wireless router supplier by-aol as I can access work from my laptop anywhere else except my home. But then I have been able to do so until the work router was changed so i don't know what could be wrong?

I just switched from an AT&T T1 ISP to Comcast cable, which supplies a motorola modem, pushing 5MBPS downstream. This modem is not recognized by the router, a Belkin wireless G model, F5D7234-4 V5. After numerous attempts to restart both the modem and the router, the modem light does not turn on, nor is a wireless connection recognized by my computer, a new Macbook Pro. The router worked fine with the AT&T connection.
Today i installed an RV180 VPN router as replacement for a netscreen ns-5GT.Exactly the same configuration, everything works, except port forwarding from WAN to a host inside NAT.My ports are open (online port-scanner sees the ports as open), the hosts are accepting connections, but a connection can't be made.Probably a bug in the firmware.
How to set this new router up correctly in a way that they can get open nat with one Xbox on the network?I have tried to setup the router so that I port forward the following ports:
UDP/TCP | 3074 TCP | 80 TCP | 88 UDP/TCP | 53
The xbox is setup with a static ip address:
IP | 10.141.167.50 Subnet Mask | 255.255.255.128 Gateway | 10.141.167.1
In addition to simple port forwarding, I setup access rules in the firewall with any source to go to the 10.141.167.50 single ip destination. I have also tried with port forwarding off, but upnp on, and the ports setup specifically in that screen for this xbox. Finally, I disabled the port forwardingin the upnp, as well as the port forwarding screen and simply setup port triggering, while leaving the upnp service enabled. After all of that, the xbox would not get open nat. It doesn't make any sense to me that this doesn't work. I even tried turning off all port forwding and triggering and putting the xbox in as the dmz host. No dice. I'm honestly thinking now that there is a problem in the firmware or something that requires some special workarounds. I'm on the new firmware (i.e. 4.1.0.2) and at the end of my rope.
Using an rvs4000 with firmware v2.0.3.2 I am able to delete 'setup/lan/static ip mapping' entries, but I am unable to add any.After deleting an entry, hitting save (which reboots the router) and then trying to enter the same device with a different static ip address, the "add" button has no effect.
