Just bought CLEAR WiFi and un trying to connect to it on my pretty old Windows XP but when I go to network connections all I see is Local Area Connection...there's no WiFi available but my clear router is right next to my desktop & its working on my Mac Ps3 and Phone ...and I can't open my available wireless networks..

The computer will not connect to the internet at all while at home, but it will connect to the internet in other locations (like at school). My other computer connects to the internet without a problem. The computer that isn't working can recognize that there are wireless connections available, but cannot connect. Presently I am using a wired router for internet surfing etc. I am using 2 pc's and both have wireless connection capability. I can see that there are wireless connections in my area and they are secured connections. If possible is there a way to connect wirelessly to one of these?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a NAS connected to my network and all the computers/laptops can use it if connected via the ethernet (all use various operating systems, no static ip's). as soon as I try and use them on the wireless none of them will see the nas, they are all connected to the network and can use the internet, just no connection to the nas.My Router Ip is 192.168.1.1 and my nas IP is 192.168.1.254, I have tried setting the nas to automatically getting an ip from the router aswell but this still doesn't make any difference.

I can connect to the wireless with other machines fine. Something is up with this computer. I use Virtual Boxes on here and see that there is a "Virtual Box Host Only Network" that I've never noticed.I've disabled this but my wireless is still not finding anything.

The 2 wireless are used for internet access and the hardwired is for my LAN through my router. The wireless connections are throught ATT mobile devices. I use my lan to share files through PC in my household and it has no internet access. The problem is that whenever I have all 3 of these connections connected windows always sees the hardwire connection as internet access so I can't use the internet even if my 2 other wireless connections are enabled. However, If I disable the Local area network connections and the leave 2 wireless connections enabled I have internet again.is there a way to just make windows use the hardwired connection as local and use the wireless connections for internet?

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy laptop has suddenly stopped connecting wirelessly. Just fine with ethernet though. My Wireless adapter is enabled and showing fine in Device Manager and has the latest driver. Wireless Zero Configuration is enabled in services. I tried simply disabling and then re-enabling the wireless adapter but still no luck. I tried selecting the repair option for the wireless adapter and I get the exclamation in yellow triangle deal. I checked to see if I was having issues with firewall and that's not it either. When I click "View Available Wireless Networks" the dozen or so networks that use to appear are gone. I power cycled and reset my modem with no luck. I've also did an ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew in CMD but nothing changed. I have not changed any wireless settings for my NIC or modem/router and don't understand what else I can do.

I have been having a peculiar problem lately with my wireless set-up. I have a very simple and standard setup.My main desktop pc is connected to my TP Link TL-WR841ND wireless router and that is connected to my issued Time Warner cable modem. In my room I have a desktop pc with a TP Link TL-WN722N wireless adapter and my brother has a PlayStation 3 in his room.For months I have had flawless wireless internet connection between my desktops and PlayStation 3, but for the past few days I noticed that when the main desktop is on it prevents my adapter and PlayStation from making wireless connections to the router.
The only time my desktop with the adapter and PlayStation 3 is able to connect is only when the main desktop is turned off or physically disconnected from the router. Now, I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Ethernet driver, resetting both the modem and router, and setting everything up from square one to no avail. I know it has to be something simple but I'm hoping I won't have to format my main desktop PC.
When I log into the routers configuration page through internet explorer and check the Wireless Statistics page showing the currently connected wireless stations and packets, I have noticed that very few packets are being sent out, like the adapter and PlayStation 3 are being blocked by the desktop. I had Norton installed on it a week or two ago just to do a quick scan, then I uninstalled it.
Laptop detects not all available wireless connections and at the same time on existing connection is very poor signal strength. I make this announce when I compared my and my friend laptop wireless connections, his laptop detects more than ten available connections (when my ASUS K55VD with "Atheros AR9485WB-EG Wireless Network Adapter" finds just two, no more and both are on very poor signals). I have to be in the same room where is rooter if I want to use the Internet, and as for my friends they can use same wireless connection all above the house. I tried to re-install all network drivers on my Laptop, use programs like Xirrus Wi-Fi inspector, but also, no more than two available connections with poor signal strengt.

1--drops all wireless connections momentarily, then re-establishes them (happens multiple times a day)
2--drops all wireless connections and has to be reset (happens every 0.5-2 days)
#1 wouldn't be a big deal, except that I keep VPN connections on two systems and have to re-establish them every time this happens. I should probably also note that this happens even on the weekends, when those two systems are not VPN'd in.
It has done this since day 1, and the firmware update did not work.

My kid is heading off to college with a Toshiba Satellite E-205 laptop and a Kodak ESP Office 2150 printer. She would like to use the wireless printer option on the Kodak, which requires a wireless router. I have a D-Link DIR-655 wireless router that I can send with her.
I know her university has a very robust wireless system for Internet access, so she is going to want to use their wireless access.
So, the DIR-655 sole use will be to allow access to the printer. It will not be accessing the Internet or be cabled into the university's network.
Is it possible to operate TWO wireless connections at the same time so she can hit her university wireless and the DIR-655 so she can print wirelessly?

My TL-WR741ND is about 1 year and a half old, it was working fine until about 2 weeks ago. I need to reset it, times between resets is not consistent, meaning, it can take 30 minutes, or 8 hours, but it needs to be reset. Right now, there are 2 wired connections (PS3 and Desktop PC) and 7 wireless (4 cell phones, 2 notebooks and 1 netbook). 1 of the notebooks has static IP, and it also has a VM running, with another static IP. Also some port forwarding simply stopped working (ports 80 and 1180), the rest of the ports work flawlessly, but trying to forward the port 80 and 1180 (to the 2 static ips) won't work. I already upgraded the firmware, and the problem persists, also changed the channel (from 6 to 1, and then from 1 to 11).
Installing dd-wrt/openwrt/gargoyle or anything like that, is not an option. The only reason why I bough t this router, was because I could use dd-wrt, I installed it 1 year and a half ago, and it simply sucked, the wireless bandwidth was non existent, and it was a headache. I installed it again last week, to see if it could be a solution, and I was not even able to save changes in the control panel. I need a real solution, and installing a firmware that works only on chrome is not an option (specially when I use Firefox, and I needed to install chromium just to erase dd-wrt)
I am trying to extend my home network into my basement with both wired and wireless connections. I have a WRT120N upstairs, which is connected to my cable modem. I have an E1200 in the basement, which I have connected with a LAN port. DHCP is turned off, and all wired connections are getting an address from the upstairs router, and connecting to the internet successfully.I've configured the wireless with the same SSID on both routers, but the clients that connect to the downstairs wireless are not able to access the internet. They are getting an IP address from the upstairs router, but can't get past the gateway.

Unplugging to reset results in good, clear signal for a while, but the problem always comes back. It affects all connected machines (not sure if it makes any difference if a macnine is connected via wire.)

I fixed that problem by launching Setup and downloading the Windows 7 installation from a jump drive. The new problem is that I cannot connect to the internet at all. View 10 Replies View RelatedI've formatted my HP 530 Notebook (using 'Operating System CD - Windows XP Professional SP2'). All went well. It was my first format but I read a lot on the internet, so I knew I had to download and install the chipset, the bus driver, the audio and video drivers, the network adapters, etc. This I did, on the HP website [URL].
Everything is working perfectly except for the internet. The device (a Broadcom wireless network adapter I installed from the HP website) is reportedly 'working properly', the HP assistant says that the Wireless LAN is 'ON', but my Broadcom wireless network wizard cannot find any network, let alone the network of my router. The Windows assistant is just as useless.
I've tried it all: uninstalling and re-installing, snooping around with 'ipconfig /all' and utilities like 'Everest', to start the Wireless Zero Configuration, to use other network adapters, installing SPs and patches, all that jazz. Apparently, everything is fine and 'working properly' - except that there's no network in sight.
Clearing up some questions:
- The 'Everest' utility says that the Interface Type of my wireless network adapter is 'Ethernet'. Isn't Ethernet supposed to be for cable connections?
- Needless to say, I've been back and forth with drivers a lot. Windows calls my wireless (non)connection 'Wireless Network Connection 2'. Is this in any way significant?
- I'm using 'Broadcom' because that's all I saw at the HP website. Should I try something else instead, like Atheros or Intel something-something?
I'm becoming a bit desperate, so if all else fails, I'm willing to reformat the computer (for the third time) and install the drivers you recommend to me in the recommended order.
