How To Make Wireless Connections
Oct 22, 2011
Presently I am using a wired router for internet surfing etc. I am using 2 pc's and both have wireless connection capability. I can see that there are wireless connections in my area and they are secured connections. If possible is there a way to connect wirelessly to one of these?

I am trying to make my computer support incoming VPN connections. I am using Windows 7 Home Premium on the computer I want to make the connection on.I am also using Verizon FioS internet (comes with default router/modem combo) to which I have the DIR-655 router connected. I am able to connect to both WiFi's fine and they work correctly.I think the Verizon router is set to block incoming VPN connections and I think this is why I cannot get anyone to be able to access my computer / internet via VPN. How I can perhaps forward ports and which settings I would need to specifically change in both routers admin settings so that I can get VPN connections to forward to my computer and be accepted.

I ve just finished setting up my first serial connections between two sites using Cisco 1800 routers. I can make connections from Site A to Site B using Windows XP clients, eg accessing exchange server 2007 running on Windows 2003x64, but the main problem is that when I try to configure Windows 7 clients to connect to exchange server on the other site, I can't make connections , no ping, no ssh , no http. What amuses me more is that I can connect to Windows 2008 servers using both Windows XP and 7.

Before I signup for one of these services, I would like to know if there is any way to make my dialup a wireless conection for my laptops. I like to move around using the computer, I hate being at a desk having to sit there and not be able to move where I want.I have a modem that I used for my old dsl connection. Will this work?

My laptop used to connect wireless very well. About 10 days, it lost the connection even though the wireless signals were excellent. I guess it might be due to a virus attack that disabled my wireless connection. I run System Restore on Networking but not successful.

I have wired LAN connection from my neighbour's router, and it is connected to my desktop. I somehow got the wireless connection to my laptop from the same place by entering a security number. I got the number through the wired connection as well. It was working perfectly working until recently. Now I cannot access the wireless, whereas my wired connection is working alright. is there any other way to connect this without asking the neghbour?

We have a modem at home but it doesn't have built in wifi so we have it connected to a router. We have fast internet (ADSL2 i think) but running through the router, it's very slow. So i was wondering if i could somehow make my laptop a modem? Or a router as well because it would have to be faster than the one we have now. Im running a Acer Aspire 1830 Notebook 32-bit windows simple language when replying

I have two computers sharing files connected by a wired lan via an Ethernet card. Both are using XP home sp2 OS and neither of them had any Internet connection. I wanted to make one of them connect to a wireless printer so I added an Asus USB (wireless) dongle to that machine only. When first used the dongle sprang into life, connected to a wireless router in another part of the building (also mine, but nothing to do with this network) and downloaded a load of MS updates. Whilst an Internet connection was not really needed on that machine I thought 'all well and good', and proceeded to download MS Security Essentials onto that machine only. Once the printer software was installed on that computer it connected normally with the wireless printer and printed-out fine.It was only when I attempted to connect to the other computer via the hard-wired lan that I found that the connection between them was broken.

Is there anyway to convert a laptop (with inbuilt wireless device) to a streaming device via wireless connectivity?Essentially I have a desktop and also a laptop in the house. I sometimes want to use my desktop in other places in the house, since my laptop is seriously old, I have most of my work data on my desktop. SO, I thought the idea of being able to use my laptop as a streaming device, acting as a wireless monitor, keyboard and keypad.

W7. Internet connection is through BT Home Hub2 and is hardwired. No problem at all. But my wireless connected BT internet radio and my wife's Kindle can no longer connect to the internet. The radio says connecting to network but does nothing. I have changed nothing I am aware of. I have looked at the BT Home Hub Wireless set up page and the settings are Using WPA and WPA2 and the correct wireless encryption key is there. Channel selection is automatic. I have changed that to 3 other suggested channels, no result. Frankly it is all Greek to me and I do not know what I am looking at. how I reconnect the Kindle by wireless and the internet radio? (I know I can use a USB to connect the Kindle, but not the radio).
