Cannot Get A DSL Connection
Aug 31, 2011
Our PC and Modem were in storage for several months. When we unpacked and re connected everything, we could not get conected through our 2 wire modem. We have checked cables, brought other machines into the house , and still cannot get a DSL connection. We tried the proxy settings others have posted. I have not had a chance to see if I can ping any internet suppliers, but to me it seems like a problem with the modem itself.I am not very tech savy, but I am able to follow directions, to trouble shoot.Oh yeah called my Internet provider, and they said it was phone line problems, but phone works great. Didn't even walk me through testing the modem.

I have an Acer 7750G, running Windows 7,connected to our home network using a Dynex router. At the moment this is the only laptop in the house that is having problems with connectivity. Starting yesterday, it only connects intermittently. When I run diagnostics, it says the following problems have been fixed but it either solves the problem for a few minutes only or not at all: "Problem with wireless adapter or access point" or "Default gateway is not available".
IPV6 connectivity also shows 'no internet access' and sometimes IPV4 reports no internet. I've unplugged and rebooted the modem and router a few times but that hasn't solved the problem.
Edit: I ran troubleshoot again, and it says the following issue is not fixed: "Wireless Network Connection 2 does not have a valid IP configuration".

I have a Cisco 3725 running IOS 12.3. I have three WAN connections (2 x 100Mb and 1 x 2Mb serial) and I need to replace the 2Mb serial connection with a further 100Mb connection. However, I have not got any spare 100Mb sockets. My plan is to use a switch that supports VLANs, connect the three WAN connections to the switch, each in their own VLAN, then connect the switch to one port on the router, configuring the switch port as a trunk (so that it passes all three VLANs across the link) and configuring the router so that for that single Ethernet interface, it has three subinterfaces each configured for a VLAN that matches the VLAN used for the corresponding WAN connection.
I am a bit rusty on my IOS so I wanted to run this all past the community for feedback. [code] Any thoughts on whether or not that will work? Are there any commands from the original interface configurations that I CANNOT use when moving them to a subinterface? I'm thinking that the speed & duplex commands need to be removed?

We're getting "Connaction Timeout / Connection Failure" error messages several time per day. Here is our setup:
Verizon FiOS Internet (ONT Box) --> Cisco ASA 5505 --> EdgeMarc 4500 Router --> Cisco 300-24G Switch --> Dell PE1950 Servers
From past few months, we keep getting Connection Timeout and Connection Failure error messages in our vendor application which connects to SQL Server 2005. Also Terminal Server 2003 keep disconnecting for every few hours. After several days of troubleshooting, we come to know that this Cisco ASA 5500 is not working properly. When I access the ASDM, it shows several warning messages.I know there is a setting option to configure TimeOut, but is there anyway to test and track the ASA 5500 regarding this Timeout issues?

I just bought a "DLink Xtreme N Gigabit Router DIR-655" I configured it correctly. It works well for the wireless connection but my Lan connection (wired connection) does not work. The Lan computer connects to the router but cannot access the internet. All of my machines work OK with a Netgear G router, including the Lan computer.

I am trying to confgure a VPN connection on a Cisco ASA 5505, and I am supposed to translate the inside network from 10.200 76.0 to host 10.1.4.204, and then from that scheme establish a VPN with the host 66.179.80.108 on network 192.168.50.0/24. I was told that this Cisco ASA appliace would be able to translate the network address as a mask in order to make the necessary connection with the other site connection.

After connecting to the internet on my laptop, the internet connection will work great for 10 minutes or less than it slows down drastically or essentially not working at all. If I disconnect and reconnect it will work again but just for a short amount of time. The wireless connection works great on iPod, IPhone, and tablet. Downloaded Kaspersky Antivirus which said it fixed some viruses but internet got worse after that. Tried restoring the computer to factory settings and the internet stays connected for what seem a few minutes longer.

Every time I boot up my computer, everything will be working fine for about 5 -10 minutes, but after this, all my browsers will lose connection to the Internet. All of them: IE, firefox, chrome, even the steam browser, all of them just lose connection. The weird thing is, my net connection is perfectly fine: I can still play online games, still use online chat services, still open and use programs like utorrent. It's like something is just blocking all my browser connections. When I run a network troubleshooter, it says "your computer appears to be correctly configured, but the device or resource (Microsoft Corporation: Software, Smartphones, Online, Games, Cloud Computing, IT Business Technology, Downloads) is not responding."I googled this and came across some apparent fixes like flushing and re-registering my dns and restarting my modem, niether of which has worked. In addition, this problem is showing up on two totally separate shared networks and has only affected my computer. Other netwworked devices, like friends/families computers and my iPhone (which I am using to type this) work fine.

so I would like to know if I have a cisco 800 series lets say with interface fa0/0 being my public interface.can I have on this interface an easyvpn connection to a hub and a crypto map xyz connection to another hub?all the tests I've done using gns3 indicate no. when I have both on the same interface only eazyvpn works. when I remove the eazyvpn from the interface then site to site works.I know with a crypto map I can have different tunnels but my question is a crypto map and an eazyvpn on the same outside interface can it work.if yes, do you have a configuration example of the 2 hubs and the spoke?

Case: My home has few laptops and mobile phones connected wireless to the home's Router -> & to cable modem.
Problem: When I turn-on this particular HP's PC and connect to the internet (wireless) - the whole house internet connection becomes intermittent (e.g. OFF / ON). The Internet connection is fine (no problem), if this PC is not connected to the Internet (not connected to ie or google).
Trouble Shoot (without success)
- I have reformatted the PC and scan the PC with Malware in safe mode (no infection).

I have a new internet connection. It is displaying lights for DSL, PWR, INET, WLAN.I can connect but it always reads the message "No Internet Access"I went to the service provider to get this fixed. And they created bridge mode through LAN so I could connect using a username and password. (create a new connection > broadband ). But I innocently pressed reset button. I don't want to go back to the service provider to setup the bridge mode or ability to connect by a username/password through LAN.

I have a home network. There are a total of 3 PCs. Each runs Server 2008 32 bit. One PC - Lets say Server A has 2 NICs with Ip addresses, 10.0.0.10/30, 10.0.0.2/30. Other two computers Server B and Server C have single NIC with addresses 10.0.0.1/30 and 10.0.0.9/30 resp. So as you can see that there are two subnets 10.0.0.2 - 1 and 10.0.0.9 - 10. I can ping B and C from A. I want that B and C can also ping each other and if I run tracert on B or C, it should give me the route to the destination via A. All this without any other hardware. Like using route add... etc eg. if I write tracert 10.0.0.9 on B, it should return a route like 10.0.0.1-----10.0.0.10------10.0.0.9.

I recently moved into a new place and my internet's been very spotty at best. The internet seems very fast at times but slows down, and even completely stop working, at other times. The weird thing is that my computer never says I'm disconnected from the internet. Instead, I either get disconnected from my games or the webpages I try to load show that it "cannot be displayed." The place I moved into provides wall jacks for a T-1 internet connection. I've tried directly connecting the ethernet cable to my desktop/laptop as well as connecting it to a router and trying out the wireless, all to no avail. The problem only seems to be resonating from where I'm currently living, as when I go onto campus, the wireless is fine. Also tried turning off firewalls, using a different browser, resetting the router, and a new ethernet cable.

I have BT infinity connection with modem /router on ground floor. Wireless signal can be picked up easily until second floor. Third and fourth floors have very poor signal so I have run a cable from modem to top floor - completely hidden so no issues there. On the top floor I have a Netgear network switch FS605 running three cables into three rooms. All works fine. What I want now is to replace the Netgear switch with one that also offers a wi-fi connection so that my iPhone / iPad can connect via wi-fi on the top floor. I still need the wired capability.

I have a desktop that had issues, so I cleaned the hard disk and reinstalled the software like when it was new. I have updated all the windows and network card updates. When I first start the computer, I can connect to the internet for about 2-5 minutes then lose the connection. Often, internet explorer shows a screen that says the site is busy and try again later, but we can connect fine on other computers. Our internet connection comes from a DSL modem to a Cisco Valet Plus wireless router, however this computer is connected by a hard wire to a port on the router. I have changed ports, but have the same issue. The computers connected wirelessly stay connected.
I can restart the computer and the internet will work for 2-5 minutes again, but then do the same. If I go to ipconfig and release and renew, it still will not connect to the internet.

I got Serbian Orion Telekom ADSL Max packet (16/1mb, modem: tp-link td-8816 v5), and used it in Belgrade without any issues with speeds of 13.95mb / 0.86mb. Since I have moved to another city (with recently done all infrastructure) I got this sudden CRC problems, plus ADSL2+ connection problems. Currently at ADSL2+ Annex A. and here is my speed test: And now, what's constantly occuring and is annoying me to bits is the thing that at ADSL2 connection I connect at 10mb with SNR of 6db and it successfully hangs on to the connection, but on ADSL2+ (16mb, max 24mb) with SNR of 6.8db it drops every few minutes. How can I use my 16mbit normally instead of only 10? Maybe some kind of low SNR router could work? How to treat CRC? I have new telephone cable, checked the splitters and also in wall connector.

The problem originally started when I went to connect to a Wireless Network at a Hotel. It just crashed everytime I hit Connect. I also tried to Add the wireless network under Manage Wireless Networks, everytime I hit Add it doesn't do anything! I deleted my saved networks (my home wifi) thinking it would connect but it did nothing. Now I am back Home and I have the same issue! It Won't connect and won't let me Add a preferred wireless network. My Wireless is turned on. I checked the Drivers are updated and had Windows restore to a previous setting (or whatever you call that) This computer is less then 3 months old!

i wanted to know the reason of why my ping drops or how to make it more stable. For example i play a game called League Of Legions, which i think my connection and pc exceeds the system requirements. (Except my Video card since im using a standard which was with the MOBO.)
When im playing this game, i have a ping of 50-80, suddenly it drops to 300-500, which causes me lag (Happens multiple times in a 45min game or any). I think thats not normal, since other players dont suffer from that.

i recently purchased a D-link n300 DIR-632 (wireless router), i ran the setup wizard and it seems to work. HOWEVER. for some random reason the data transfer will cut out for around 30 seconds or so and all activity is halted. I have looked in the routers Settings however i am not comfortable with messing around with to many settings incase i completely screw up the network. Is there a setting that i have to change so that my network will run more fluently. It is a 300mbs data transfer and there is a maximum of 3 devices running from the network at any one time. I am trying to play online games and the network will lag and freeze the game causing it to crash and have to be restarted. ALSO i would like to note that this router is LAN enabled too. The main computer running on this network is connected by a LAN cable and is still having the same data issues as the wireless devices....
