I have a problem with my computer connections. When I plug in a network cable to access LAN, a wireless Internet connection gets disconnected. When I unplug the cable internet connection through wireless comes up.Some computers can support both connections cable for LAN and wireless for Internet.Other computers do not support both connections.
My hp laptop will no longer connect to the internet thru both a wifi connection or cable connection. I've also tried to do a system restore to an earlier date and it will not let mme do this either
some reference material about configuring my WAG320N to use my cable modem via Ethernet port 1. I've seen it mentioned that's its possible, however I've been unable to sort it out myself.
And before you ask, I've brought the DSL router as I'm moving in the next 12 months and my new base will not have access to cable internet and I'll be reverting back to DSL.
My laptop wireless suddenly stopped working yesterday ( this has happened before ) so I rang BT for them to mess about with the channels to fix it which usually works but my laptop cant even connect to the internet with the cable plugged in from the hub. The computer is connected with the wire now and is working perfectly fine. Ive read on forums it could be the network adapters ive checked and they are all updated. Ive system restored and still no connection with either wireless or cable .
I have vista system, belkin wireless realtec ethernet cable and alice modem internet provider is o2 everything is working as i have checked but I GET NO CONNECTION everything was fine for 2 years and then suddenly after checking the system I am told that the ethernet cable is not connected,
So I am trying to connect my desktop to my router via an Ethernet cable. When I plug the cable to my PC, it won't connect to my router. However when I plugged the cable to a laptop, it worked fine. I also went to check the Broadcom NetLink Gigabit Ethernet adapter in Device Manager and it has an error that says "This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device
I setup my own wireless connection using Cox Cable some time ago and it's been working with no problems. Today I tried to setup my sister's laptop with a wireless connection also with Cox Cable. Router is setup correctly and the connection says signal strength is excellent. However, the computer will not connect to the Internet. She has a Motorola Modem which a Cox Tech says he can see the modem so that's ok. I noticed the on the Modem the PC Connectivity light is amber and steady. While I have a different modem with the same company, my PC Connectivity light is green and it blinks from all the Internet activity P.S. All other setting are correct i.e. Obtain IP address automatically, DNS setting, DCHP etc.
I'm on a Virgin media 50 Meg connection currently connected via cable using the modem provided.I'm hoping to connect my PS3 to the internet using the router provided (dlink DIR-615) and I'm wondering if I'll still get the same speeds if I connect the cable through the router. I hear that the wireless data transfer won't be able to handle 50 Meg but if I attach a cable from the router to my PC will I still get the full 50?
We have optimum dsl, windows 7 computers, a windows server a lynksys router and a gigabit switch. The cable power went out in the area last friday. Now they say the internet is on but our network wont pick it up. After reading a number of sites it seems our switch to router may be the issue. the switch has all similar ports for network cable connections. the router has an obvious port for the main cable internet connection. I can not figure out if the location of connectors on the gigabyte switch matter in terms of where the switch and router connect to each other. this all worked last week. my other problem is that i have no internet access at the office to troubleshoot this. I dont remember model numbers for the switch and modem. we have 6 computers networked.
I want to know which router can be used on 100mb cable connectionThe router will be using the connection from cable modem on bridge mode/modem mode with eth to routerI kind of have a idea looking at performance ratings but ppl have mixed opinions when you enable NAT and ACLs etc etc285129013825.

For other three years, me and my brother have both been connected to our router via ethernet cables. On this Tuesday just gone, however, my brother took it upon himself to mess with the router whilst I was out. Apparently, his internet had been down since we'd had a power-cut on the Sunday, (My internet was fine, and always has been and was fully functional after said power-cut), and before then, it'd been going really slow, and sometimes cutting out. Okay, no problem. Now, the the thing is, that morning, I was on my internet, all happy, and when I returned home that evening, my PC wouldn't connect. My PC still refuses to connect, three days on. It's not even picking up that there's something plugged in.the router is actually flashing to say that my PC is plugged in and connected to the router. I know that there is nothing wrong with the modem or what have you, as I linked my laptop up to my PC via a cable earlier today to try and get it online. It's not a virus program problem, either. Like I said, it was working Tuesday morning, nine hours later, I come home, my brother restarted/unplugged the router, and now my PC won't connect. I should also note that he's now had to go wireless via a dongle, and everyone else in the house uses wireless laptops. I can't connect my PC to the internet with a dongle

I have a desktop computer for gaming and a laptop, but when I was assembling my desktop I didn't put in a wireless card thing so i've been able to get internet since by connecting my desktop and laptop (which has wireless) with an Ethernet cable and everything has been fine.Apart from a few days ago when it all stopped working, my laptop works fine as does my desktop but the desktop and laptop can't seem to connect anymore.
i have built my PC from the ground up with what little budget i had, upon completion i started it up and installed my wireless adapter from linksis and i could not connect i went on my netbook (what i am on now) and checked my router and i didn't have any from of connection with my PC so i tried a wired connection and still no joy i have tried a different adapter a Belkin one i have even switched the router
I had so much old garbage and damage from old viruses I needed to reformat the hard drive and reinstall windows xp from the System OS disk. Computer is up and running now, but I lost a lot of stuff, including my ability to connect to the internet and some drivers. I have cable internet. I downloaded Broadcom advanced control suite and the netxtreme 57xx drivers from the Broadcom site, and installed them with the provided download manager. Nothing seems to be working, the control suite says "No active broadcom network adapters detected in this system"....
note- I've been downloading to a different computer and burning the files to CD, and transferring them to the Dell that way...
whenever I troubleshoot a random internet connection shut off, the diagnostic is "Local Cable Connection 2 Adapter is disabled." Weirdest part is that I am connecting via WiFi.I've had this problem since college freshman year (I am a college junior). It only occurs at school, but the school tried fixing it and "everything" works fine. The internet basically shuts off every hour or so. It's tedious to sign back on and starting this year, I am starting to use a program that requires online internet connectivity for the program to function.
I installed my new X2000 a couple of days ago and my ADSL connection drops several times a day. Sometimes it will stay connected for a few minutes and other times it will stay connected for several hours. The only way to get it connected again is to reboot.I have used 2 other routers (D-Link DIR-300 and BT Home Hub 3.0) on the same line and haven't had any disconnection issues with them, so the problem must be a hardware/software fault on this router or I have set it up incorrectly.Judging by a number of posts I found online, there seems to be a general problem with DSL connections dropping on the X2000, especially on earlier firmware versions. I have subsequently upgraded to the latest firmware (Ver.2.0.01 (Build 4)), reset and reconfigured twice, but nothing has worked so far.Unless I can get this working in the next few days I am going to have to return it, which is a shame because the performance of the router is great when it's working!Would someone be able check I have configured the DSL settings on the router correctly?
when choosing "Mixed" or "N-only" as Network Mode on the Basic Wireless Settings configuration page, the mode resets to "B/G-Mixed" or "G-only" respectively when saving. In other words, it is not possible to use the N network mode.
I'm having trouble with my Linksys X2000 modem/router to stay connected to internet. I have tried upgrading the firmware & changing my ip address, but still with no success. The router part is staying connected, but the dsl will drop off. I have to unplug to get it up and working again.
I have been using a WAG320N since January. Around a week ago I came home to find the unit attempting to reconnect every few minutes - the DSL light flashing but nothing happening.
I replaced with an old Belkin unit which worked fine straight away.
i have upgraded the firmware, which made no difference, and secondly, tried a brand new unit, which strangly had the same problem even though the ancient belkin unit works first time and my original cisco unit worked for a couple of months before failing.
Are there any settings that relate to the DSL connection that may have been reset on the original unit? Could this be an issue related to signal quality or anything similar?
the other day i set up a new internet connection and to set it up they sent me a WAG160Nv2 modem router and after hours of trying to get it working the technical support guy told me it cant be set up until the dsl led comes on, so what it being off means/how to get it to turn on?
I have a WAG160N that I've used as a wireless router for ages. I have changed broadband providers and as they have supplied a new router I decided to use that and connect the old WAG160N via a Home Plug AV network and effectively use it as a range extender.
I have read some of the other forum posts and made the following changes:
1) Set up internet as Bridge mode 2) Set DCHP server as relay
When I connect via an ether net cable it works brilliantly but as soon as I try to connect wireless I can't talk to the internet.
whenever the phone is in use i.e. a call comes in or the phone is being used to dial out, the connection will drop. I have tried changing the microfilter on the Phone Socket, and it seemed to resolve it for a while.Should I perform a Factory Reset? I am using the latest firmware which is 1.01.06 ?
Having the issue for over a year now, I'm wondering why there isn't a fix for the mentioned connection drops of the WAG200G? I'm on the newest firmware now (1.01.08(3)) but still every so many minutes: bam, lost connection.

I use IE 8 to go to 192.168.0.1 as per what the cable modem says for connection, and I get nothing. So call the cable modem provider, they said it's their modem switch to a new modem, got the same error, then I somehow I can go to 192.168.0.1, but still no internet connection I try all the trick below still nothing

she does have Norton that is 5811 days out of date, so I un-install norton, but got the same error
the only thing I got that may be relate to the above is this error:
Could not load file or assembly sorttbls.nlp or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified
Every few minutes my WGR614v6 loses connection to the cable modem though the wireless in-house is strong. Cable modem being reset does not work. Resetting netgear router brings us back online but only for a few minutes. Have replaced power supply to router and it is still occurring. We have a desktop and 2 laptops online. Also, the notebooks always drop to 18mbps while the desktop stays at 54mbps.
So, for some reason my internet connection started disconnecting about every 1-5 minutes. It worked fine this morning, however, when I turned my PC on a few hours ago it became very unstable. After it happens I have to reconnect to internet (it doesn't work all the time, I usually have to do it two times for it to work), and then again after a few minutes the connection dies. Tried restarting my computer, tried restarting the modem, tried the troubleshooting network thing (it keeps saying "Local Area Connection doesn't have a valid IP configuration", but gives no solution). Also, I tried connecting on my cellphone and on a laptop and both of those work. However, those connect through WiFi, while my PC is connected through an ethernet cable[code]
