Cisco :: 1242AG / Change RF Channel On APs On NCS?

May 30, 2012

I'm looking to make a few adjustments to out wireless network and need to change the RF channels on a few APs.I've logged on to NCS went into the AP, an 1142N,  then the Radio 802.11 b/g/n and changed the RF channel under custom.Once I pressed the save button the channel reverts back to its original channel. I've also tried this on a 1242AG the same thing happens. I then went to the controller and tried to change the RF channel there and it took the change. I pressed apply logged out went back to NCS made the change under custom and again it reverted back after I pressed the save button. I went back into the controller and the channel had also reverted back even thought it gave the impression it took the changel.

How To Change The Wifi Channel Of A Hotspot

I need to know how to change the wifi channel of the connection. connectify can't do it. I guess you have to set it somewhere in the network card settings, but I'm quite a noob when it's about wireless network. googling my problem didn't get me any good result since all the threads about channel setup are about modem/router wifi channel setting, can't find anything about hotspots.

D-Link DIR-615 :: Configuration Page Is All Greyed Out - Can't Change Channel

Nov 22, 2010

I bought this wireless router the other day in order to get internet access on my Nintendo Wii. I set it up using the CD and followed all the instructions (made a password, wrote down the key, etc.) - and my Wii CAN detect it, but when I type in the key on the Wii I get an error message. I looked online and they said the way to fix that specific error is to "change the channel" on the router to 1 or 11. (It is currently 6). I type in my IP into the browser like I'm supposed to (the default IP of the router), but ALL the options on the page are greyed out and nothing is click-able. Here's a screenshot

Linksys Wireless Router :: E900 - Menu To Change Channel And Bandwidth

Jan 12, 2013

I just purchased a Linksys Cisco E900 router and hooked it up to my Internet cable. The Internet service that my ISP is giving me is PPPoE, fiber link (100 Mbps).

I did the set up. I connected my computer (via Ethernet cable) and my laptop (via wireless) to the router.

Now... there are other wireless networks around me. The WI-Fi channel my router fixed to is 1, apparently - saw it from the settings. But I can't find a menu anywhere in the router's gateway (192.168.1.1) from where I can change the wireless channel, wireless bandwidth etc.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Change Number Of Internal Port-channel On Nexus 5000

Jan 3, 2012

I'm in the middle of a Nexus 5000 project and recognized today while configuring port-channels, that some of the interface numbers are reserved for internal use.

Is it possible to change or configure which port-channel interface numbers are allocated for internal use by NX-OS?

Unfortunatly I wasn't able to find a solution for this issue in the offical Nexus documentation, the search function of this forum or Google. If I did miss something or didn't look careful enough at the Nexus docs, I'm also happy with RTFM (... fine manual) responses and links to the info :-)

Additional info:

Nexus5k(config)# interface port-channel 128 ignored port-channel128: internally used, configuration not allowed

Port-Channels 111, 113, 115, 119, 121, 200, 211, 222 were created manually, but 127 - 129 were not.

Nexus5k# show port-channel usage
Total 11 port-channel numbers used
============================================
Used  :   111 , 113 , 115 , 119 , 121 , 127 - 129 , 200 , 211 , 222
Unused:   1 - 110 , 112 , 114 , 116 - 118 , 120 , 122 - 126 , 130 - 199

Cisco WAN :: Aironet 1242AG To Use As Extension

Sep 4, 2012

I've recently obtained a Cisco Aironet 1242AG WAP. I do realize this is not a standalone router. I would like to use it as an extension of my current router. So right now, the status light is alternating colors. If I understand this correctly, it cannot find the controller. I cannot telnet into it, or use the web broswer interface. They both say the connection is not available. However, when I check my DHCP table from my router, I see that an IP has been assigned to the MAC for the WAP. I've tried doing a factory reset by holding MODE before I plug in the power, and waiting until it turns amber. After a few minutes and going through a few LED changes, it goes back to continuosly alternating colors.

Cisco :: 1242AG - AP Cannot Attach To WLC In Particular Conditions

May 22, 2012

I am struggling since many weeks for an issue in my Wireless infrastructure.

I have an LAP (1242AG) in one B site that I would like to attach (in H-REAP mode) to the WLC of site A(5508 v6.0.199.4). The topology is as follows:

MPLS - Site A - MAN - Site B.

When Site A is fully connected, all is fine, my AP of site B can successfully join the WLC of site A.

However, when the WAN interface of the router of site A is disconnected, the AP cannot associate successfully to the WLC. For us, it does not make any sense during that time, the AP of site B can successfully ping the WLC of site A and the traceroutes show the exact same path.

I took some debug on the AP and the WLC while the AP's was trying to associate to the WLC (when the WAN link of Site A was disconnected) and also when the AP could successfuly join the WLC when the WAN link of site A was reconnected.

Cisco Wireless :: WPA2 On Aironet 1242AG

Mar 9, 2012

I would like to change the security on the access points to WPA 2 but that selection is not available. I think upgrading the IOS will solve this problem but I am not sure. So I guess I have two questions:

1) Does this Cisco model support WPA 2 ?
2) If so what IOS do I need to load to make WPA 2 available?

Cisco Wireless :: Maximum Possible Transmitting Power In 1242AG-E-K9

Feb 28, 2013

My question is about the maximum possible transmitting power in a Cisco 1242AG-E-K9.I did an update of my AP on a new ios version and since then, the maximum power for me is limited to 17 dbm. I check this within the console and the "show controllers dot11radio0 | include Power:" command. I thought that I had 20dbm before the update, but unfortunately I can't proof this by myself because I have no AP left with the old firmware.

Is it possible that the upgrade did this? I read about the regulatory domains for the transmitting power. I live in Switzerland, so I thought I could use 100mW if I want to. I read it's not possible to use the 100mW at each speed but I think I should stull be able to select the 20dbm/100mW or am I missing something?

Cisco Wireless :: Loss Of Connectivity Through WLC 2504 And 1242AG AP

Oct 20, 2012

I have an issue with a loss of connectivity after 10-15 seconds. I have a Cisco WLC 2504 controlling a Cisco 1242AG AP. The following is the topology.

Wireless Client -> 1242AG (AP) -> Port 3 WLC 2504 -> Port 1 WLC 2504 goes to fa0/2 on 3560. Port fa0/1 goes to ASA5505 (Inside)

All devices are on VLAN 10 10.50.1.0/24. AP is getting DHCP just fine and is associating with the WLC just fine. I connect my laptop to it and it connects just fine.

I then ping the gateway (ASA) 10.50.1.1 or the layer 3 interface on the switch 10.50.1.7 and it is fine for about 10 seconds, then it just dies then comes back in a few minutes and then goes away again. I have looked for duplicate IP's and can find none in any arp table.

It I just ping the controller 10.50.1.20 it is completely stable. I have moved the WLC directly off the ASA5505, moved the switch port, changed cables and the problem follows. I have even moved the AP to be directly off the switch instead of the WLC and the problem still occurs.

Cisco :: Dynamic Vlan Assignment With 1242AG And IAS Not Working

Dec 13, 2012

I'm having trouble getting the dynamic vlan assignment to work on my 1242AG Cisco Aironet APs. I've seen multiple cases with a similar setup and configuration where it works just fine.  I've tried everything I can think of. IAS and AD is running on Windows Server 2003.Everything works fine except the vlan assignment.  Wireless clients successfully authenticate through IAS and Active Directory, but instead of being switched to the appropriate vlan the client stays in whichever vlan/ssid it originally connected to.PEAP is the authentication method, using MS-CHAP v2.  Naturally I have the attributes in the policy set appropriately,[code] I've attached the config for the AP, which shows that I have two vlans/SSIDs set to cipher, aes, network eap, wpa, etc. I noticed that if the Tunnel-Pvt-Group-ID attribute is set to a vlan id that doesn't exist on the AP then the AP makes an event log saying so.
