View 1 RepliesI have a WRT54G router Ver. 5 with firmware v. 1.02.5. This is the second time this has happened to me but the router reset itself to the factory defaults. I lost all my configurations. I'm saving the configuration this time but it will be annoying to keep having to reconfigure the router.

Is there anyway we can reset the password without resetting to factory default?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have two 1252ag wireless access points running in lightweight mode, and connected to a 2006 wlc. They were both running fine until this morning. One of the 1252s won't stop rebooting itself. I consoled in, and this was the output -
*Mar 1 00:00:32.055: %LWAPP-3-CLIENTEVENTLOG: Performing DNS resolution for CISCO-LWAPP-CONTROLLER
*Mar 1 00:00:32.055: %LWAPP-3-CLIENTERRORLOG: DNS Name Lookup: could not resolve CISCO-LWAPP-CONTROLLER
*Mar 1 00:00:32.055: %LWAPP-5-CHANGED: LWAPP changed state to DISCOVERY
[ code].....
IOS Boot loader - Starting system. X modem file system is available. I'm particularly curious about this line -
*Mar 1 00:00:50.283: %SYS-4-PUPDATECLOCK: Periodic Clock update with ROMMON failed, because size left in ROMMON (4294967295), size needed (29), error code (-1)
The only reference to it I found online was a very vague "It's a hardware failure", but no further explanation.
I reset my WRT54G wireless router, so I could use the default password for 192.168.1.1 and the default password and username still do not work.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have been having some issues trying to stand up an older WiSM that has been incorrectly configured by my predecesssor and has a bad Mgt IP so I am unable to telnet or SSH into it, nor can I console or session into it.
What I would like to do is to change the Mgt address for the WiSM controllers (1 and 2) by way of the Sup (not sure that is possible) because as it stands they are set to 169.254.1.1 and are unreachable even when directly consoled into them.

WRT160Nv3 Firmware Version: v3.0.02
I've been using Linksys for years but the last two routers I have purchased have been very problematic.
- My router hasn't had this problem before. The other day I was downloading 4 games at a time from STEAM, when I got home from work I found that my router had completely gone back to factory settings. So I configured my DSL PPPoE, SSID, Wireless Security (WPA) changed the default admin PW and about 20 minutes later it was back to factory again.
I've done a "hard" reset and reconfigured and still it resets itself. What's also upsetting is this completely opens my network up to ANYONE when this happens...
So far in the past 2 days I have (now using a backup restore file) re-configured the device 10 times.
The only thing I can think of is that I just got Windows 7 the same day this started happening. I thought it could be STEAM as well so right now I have STEAM closed to see if it resets while it isn't running.
Could TOO much demand on the router cause it to completely reset itself to factory config?? Seems to me like there's a huge firmware or hardware problem here.
I have other friends and even co-workers that also have problems galore with their Linksys products...No other router it seems has as MANY issues as Linksys. Hat to say it but my next purchase most likely will not be another one of their products. This just shouldn't be happening.
I'm having a very difficult time getting my WRT54GS to work with my Westell 6100 modem. I've been bouncing around gathering info, and what I've learned is that the goofy way CenturyLink tech support told me to hook up my old wired router (modem line into outgoing (LAN) router port) is because the Westell 6100 is a "smart modem/router". Therefore, when I run the Linksys setup CD, it sees the modem as a router, and won't properly configure. I've also learned that the Westell modem can be "dumbed down" into simply a modem by putting it into "bridge mode", which is where I'm at right now - trying to get it reset to factory defaults and resetting the connection type from PPPoE to Bridge. In the meantime, I also reset the WRT54GS to factory defaults, and now I've got another problem: the router will not allow me to set up encryption. The default setting is "Disabled", and when I click the down arrow and try to make any selection at all (preferred selection is WPA2 Personal), it reverts to Disabled. I've also tried to change the router's IP address to 192.168.2.1 (and alternately to 192.168.1.253), so it won't conflict with the modem's IP, and it freezes up every time I try.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have tried to reset a Cisco 2811 to factory defaults to no avail. The system is locked, meaning it's set to go immediately to username and password before doing anything else after boot up. I cannot get to ROMMON, nor can the CTRL-B break sequence allow me the option. THere is a "no-password recovery" option that apparently is set (or unset?) but I cannot work with that.
I am a newbie with the routers, but I have tried various CTRL-B breaks from bootup, to particular times through the boot up sequence.
I do NOT have "enable" (also known as "privileged EXEC") access on the router. The router, when purchased, had a username and PW that is required to even get to the basic level 1 access. Without it the PW, I can't even get to exec mode.
Got a Belkin wireless modem router some 18 monthes ago, and after a bit of a struggle managed to set it up. It worked fine, aside from the odd depower repower. For some reason, it just stopped working yesterday. I initially checked all my cabling etc and everything seems fine. I next tried resetting my modem/router to factory settings. When I tried to install the Belkin software I fell at the first hurdle with a message saying "The setup assistant is not able to connect to the router". After googling my issue, I followed others advice and running the cmd setting and typing in "ipconfig" only to find that my media state was disconnected.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Linksys SRW2008MP that I am trying to reset to factory defaults. The guy who set this up is no longer employed at my company, and I do not know the IP address to login with a web browser. The switch does not have a reset button on the back. I follow the instructions from Cisco's website, which include connecting a console cable and using HyperTerminal to login. I can connect to the switch and watch it boot up in HyperTerminal. However, when I get to the point of inputting user name and password (which should be 'admin' and '<blank>', I can't figure out how to make to terminal emulator accept the input (much like pressing the Enter button in a web browser). According to the pictures on Cisco's website, there should be an Action -> Edit -> Execute option down below the login, but I don't see it, so maybe the switch has to verify my credentials before I get to that prompt?
This is the first time in my life using HyperTerminal, and I think that's where my problem is. How do I get HyperTerminal to accept my input?
I have also tried using TeraTerm, a different console cable, and a different computer.
I am at the rommon screen getting the > sign
Rommon 1>
When I am typing confreg 0x2142 I am just getting “rommon 2>” and if try again I will get “rommon 3 >”
No reset prompt , this never happened to me
I have an 1841 (256M w/ crypto card) that stopped booting. I reset it to factory defaults as per Cisco's directions, then began to setup with Cisco Configuration Professional. On the next reload I get this:

What is the procedure to reset a 1941 router to factory defaults? I just recieved my1 1941 router. I connected it up to my Mac using USB. I got loged in using the cisco/cisco login and it said it will only work once and that I should create a new account. So I entered the command as directed on the screen and it gave my an error about the command. I verified it three times and each time it rejected. While I was looking online for an answer the connection timed out and now I can't get back in.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI currently have 2 cisco aironet 1121G access points. Both of which I believe had an image fail during an upgrade from autonomous mode to lightweight mode. I have tried to reset these access points as directed from Cisco's instructions. I have done a reset (amber light on the middle) and a factory restore (red light in the middle) They go through the steps to restore to factory default, however, after what I believe is an attempt to pull a dhcp address before defaulting into 10.0.0.1 ip address, the access point restarts. This is happening to both of them. After they reset and go through the series of memory tests, I am able to get all three solid green lights, they stay lit for just 15 seconds (rather than 5 minutes so that i can load a new image) I am not sure why they are behaving this way. I have tried as many different possibilities resetting with the mode button. There is no console port on this model of access points so i am unable to manage it otherwise.

I have read numerous documents no how to clear the config and password but so far nothing has worked. I can get it into ap: mode but not sure what to enter here. When I do a dir there doesnt seem to be any files. It will pull an IP address via the local router but cannot communicate with WLC.

View 9 Replies View RelatedDue to password loss, I get to reset the E4200 to factory default in order for router re-config.After pressing the reset buttom for 10sec, the router reset. After then, I could not access the router via browser with 192.168.1.1 at URL entry. My PC IPv4 setup: 192.168.1.11; subnet=255.255.255.0.But, ping 192.168.1.1 from PC was OK without packet loss. So router was restored with 192.168.1.1 and cable connection was OK.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI was trying to do a password recovery on a 1142 AP but enable password did not reset and I am stuck
AP model is AIR-AP1142N-A-K9
Running IOS c1140-k9w7-mx.124-21a.JA1
Its autonomous so there is no controller. I renamed the config.txt file I am unable to rename or delete the private-config file. I get the message that file or directory cannot be found when i try to rename and permission denied when I try to delete it.
We have an AIR-LAP1142N-E-K9 deployed in a H-REAP setup. This AP already got the configuration from the WLC when it was deployed at a remote site. Now we moved it to another site, but it doesn't appear in the WCS and i don't see any CAPWAP debug messages on the WLC.The routing work fine between the AP and the WLC, the AP also gets an IP address from DHCP and also received Option 43 information.
Now my guess was that the AP doesn't associate with the WLC because it has the old config file and it runs in local mode(without trying to connect to the WLC).We want to reset to factory defaults because we want to delete the configuration and force the AP to get a new config from the WCS.I don't know the enable password so i had to use other methods for reseting to factory defaults.
I tried to use the information from here:[URL]I used the "MODE button":I get the following message from the console:
"button pressed for 5 seconds
process_config_recovery: set IP address and config to default 10.0.0.1"
