Cisco Firewall :: Any Success With Slingbox And ASA 5505?

Apr 17, 2013

I am interested to configure my slingbox with my ASA5505. I am currently able to use the device remotely when I connect via VPN. My concern is that the VPN uses too much bandwith and I would get better quality if I would able to forward the appropirate ports through the ASA5505 and connect directly from the outside.

D-Link DIR-655 :: Keeps Disconnecting Slingbox

Feb 13, 2013

I have installed a DIR-655 and it all works at home, my brother accesses my slingbox to get his fix of english tv. This has all worked no problem in the past with the old box (Technicolor TG582n). However it now only connects for approx 5 mins and then it loses the connection. Replacing the old box all is well so it has to be something on the router. I have changed various settings inc changing the MTU size, pointing the gateway to the external gateway address, upgrading the firmware (now on Hardware Version B1, Firmware Version 2.05).

Cabling / Cards :: Slingbox PRO Not Receiving Ethernet Signal

Oct 8, 2011

They have a main Verizon router in their bedroom, which is hard wired to a wireless router in the TV room. The have another cable router (not wireless) and it can receive a signal when you plug an Ethernet cable from output #1 on the wireless router to Internet input on the cable router (the Internet light lights up, meaning it's receiving the signal). Also the wireless router light for output #1 lights up (meaning it's outputting a signal correctly). But, when I plug the same cord into the Slingbox PRO, the network light, on the Slingbox PRO, doesn't light up, nor does the #1 light on the wireless router. The Slingbox is out of warranty.

Linksys Wireless Router :: How To Set Up Dish Slingbox With E2500

Jan 23, 2013

I just received a Dish TV slingbox and I am trying to set it up to work with my E2500 wireless router.I'm told by Dish that I need to open up ports 80, 443 and 5678. I have Comcast as my ISP.I've gone into the Single Port Forwarding option in the Router Browser interface and for each of the 3 above listed ports have enter this info (using 80 as an example):

External Port: 80
Internal Port: 80
Protocol: Both
To IP Address 192.168.1.2
Enabled is checked

I have confirmed that UPnP is enabled. I am running firmware 1.0.07.I have seen examples on the web where the last digit of the "To IP Address" is left blank, but that is not an option, as I'm forced to enter a number between 1 and 254. 1 will not work as it is my router's IP Address.

Cisco WAN :: No Dhcp Success On Fe0 On 877

I try to use fe0 as outside, with dhcp from my ISP, and fe1-fe3 as inside on my Cisco 877. I have done this successfully before but now it just will not work. This has been a long weekend .

My ISP just forced DHCP on me (from static IP) and sent me this Xavi adsl modem.  I successfully get IP addresses using DHCP from it with workstations, but not with my cisco. With current setup I get DHCP errors (DHCP: QScan: Timed out Selecting state%Unknown DHCP problem.). DHCP log is attached.

Setup is attached too, but the main parts are:

Linksys Wireless Router :: Setup E2500 With Slingbox Solo

Sep 22, 2012

Slingbox no longer uses software, but is now web based. I got a new computer and when I go to the site it can't locate my slingbox on their network.

When I go to the site and sign in, it loads the application but then scolls as it looks for my box on the network until it times out. Slingbox directory shows my slingbox, but it says unconfigured.

I called tech support, where I was told my 90 days for free support had expired 2 weeks ago.  The port forwarding instructions I found on the internet made references to going into the router and selecting port range forwarding and have start and end port of 5100 and then enable that port.

When I go to support on the slingmedia page, it displays my slingbox with Slingbox status alert, software warning.   Instructions state go to slingmedia site and look for update, but if my box is not on thier directory, I can't download update.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 And Slingbox Firmware Not Connecting / Playing

Dec 9, 2011

I have a new E4200 with the latest firmware and my slingbox seems to not be playing nice with the router.  It refuses to take the IP I reserved for the SB, but always defaults to 192.168.2.254.  I use a 2 subnet just in case you're wondering.  I have tried multiple reboots and the IP does not change.  I have tried turning off UPNP, figuring that was hijacking the dhcp server, but that hasn't changed anything. I also notice that a few of my connected devices do not show up in the dhcp list, yet they connect and work ok.

Cisco :: WLC 5508 802.1 AAA Override - Authentication Success No Dynamic

Nov 28, 2010

WLC 5508: software version 7.0.98.0
Windows 7 Client
Radius Server:  Fedora Core 13 / Freeradius with LDAP storage backend

I have followed the guide at URL with respective to building the LDAP and free radius server.  802.1x authorization and authenication correctly work.  The session keys are returned from the radius server and the wlc send the appropriate information for the client to generate the WEP key.

However, the WLC does not override the VLAN assignment, even though I was to believe I set everything up correctly.  From the packet capture, you can see that verfication of client is authorized to use the WLAN returns the needed attributes:

AVP: l=4  t=Tunnel-Private-Group-Id(81): 10
AVP: l=6  t=Tunnel-Medium-Type(65): IEEE-802(6)
AVP: l=6  t=Tunnel-Type(64): VLAN(13)

I'm trying to join a band new CSACS-1120 to our active directory without success. The process in it self should be pretty straigh forward, but so far no luck.

I've configured the relevant info under "Users and Identity Stores > External Identity Stores > Active Directory.

Active Directory Domain Name: xxx.com
Username/Password : domain administrator account

When I test connection I get a info dialog "This machine is currently connected to domain xxx.com".After which I try to save changes which gives a reply ""This System Failure occurred: {0}. Your changes have not been saved. Click OK to return to the list page."

I've noticed that in the system log "show logging system tail" that I get a exception as soon as I enter the AD configuration page and subsequently every time I perform a action on that section.

Why the AD join keeps on failing and what the debug exception I'm getting means?

D-link Dir-601 :: Varying Degrees Of Success With Wifi Signal

Jan 6, 2012

I just installed a DIR-601 cascaded with a WiFi G Netgear router.  The D-Link is handling DHCP.  I am having varying degrees of success with the WiFi signal.  One XP laptop gets anything between 80Mbps and 150Mbps (can change while sitting in the same location), while another Win7 netbook does slightly worse.  My Son's MacBook Pro never seems to do any better than 72Mbps.

I dedicated the D-Link to 802.11N and only allow these 3 devices to connect to it as N devices.  All other WiFi devices are G and use the Netgear G router.  I am using WPA2-Personal/AES and Auto bandwidth (40 does not seem to be a choice).Didn't experience such performance fluctuations with the Netgear G router.

Cisco Firewall :: Upgrade From 5505 To 5520 On Network - ASA Firewall Throughput

The reason I ask is that I recently upgraded a firewall from an ASA5505 to an ASA5520 on a small network where the only outside connectivity was a single 10meg Internet circuit with an IPSEC VPN (not landed on the firewall but on a router) to another site.

When I swapped out the firewall the users noticed a big improvement. The firewall is not doing anything out of the ordinary - no IPS or VPN, just standard state full inspection.

Cisco Firewall :: 5505 PAT With Single Public IP And Several Servers Behind Firewall

New to the ASA 5505 8.4 software version, but here is what I'm trying to do:

-Single static public IP:  16.2.3.4
-Need to PAT several ports to three separate servers behind firewall
-One server houses email, pptp server, ftp server and web services: 10.1.20.91
-One server houses drac management (port 445): 10.1.20.92
-One server is the IP phone server using a range of ports: 10.1.20.156

Basically, need to PAT the ports associated with each server to the respective servers behind the ASA 5505.  Is anything missing from this config? Do I need to include a global policy for PPTP and SMTP? [code]

Cisco Firewall :: ASA 5505 Transparent Firewall With Web Sense Integration

Apr 27, 2011

I'm integrating a Cisco ASA5505 with a Websense proxy. I have a configuration setup where we have four routers which are used for Internet access. There are two VLAN's - Guest and Private. What I would like to achieve is making the use of available bandwidth by load distribution via GLBP, and filtering users web traffic. Two routers will be used for a GLBP group in one VLAN, and the other two routers will be used for GLBP in another VLAN.The users are connected to a Cisco 2960 switch and are in their respective VLAN's. I'm planning a 802.1q trunk to a Cisco ASA from the 2960 switch, carrying both VLAN's.What I would like to know is if there is a CSC module (or similar) which has Websense installed on it, and if it is possible to setup the ASA5505 in transparent mode to filter the traffic in this way? Hopefully this would allow multiple users to take advantage of the additional bandwidth, and not be restricted by using a traditional proxy setup which where all web traffic would be originating from a single MAC address.
