View 2 RepliesHave a problem with LMS 4.0.1 and DFM. In DFM no of the devices leaves the questioned state. Trying to rediscover them starts a process that ends after 20% completion every time. I've put on some debuging, but that does not enable more error messages.Only thing i find is in the log file [code] As I've encoded this to be the SNMP engine ID, which on the device is. [code]
View 4 Replies View Relatedwe use LMS 4.2.1 and we noticed a strange behaviour when starting a discovery. From aprox. 160 devices some devices are displayed as IP Address instead of hostname. Every device is DNS resolvable and has a value for "hostname". I´ve tried every possible option in the global discovery settings but some devices have the IP instead of their hostname. how to fix this?
View 7 Replies View RelatedWe had an existing installation of LMS 4.1 which seemed to have worked fine with the exception that it was giving problems with logging Syslog events. We tried everything to resolve it and then we found a link on this very site that explained that there was a bug in displaying Syslog events on LMS 4.1. It is important to state that we would get a few Syslog events but the rest were either filtered or discarded.As per the bug toolkit, we realized that we had to upgrade to LMS 4.2 to have the bug resolved. This was not a problem and we installed LMS 4.2 as a direct upgrade to LMS 4.1. We backed up our existing data and the installation process migrated everythin automatically.Now, LMS 4.2 is installed and our objective of having Syslog messages are being received regularly as we wanted.unfortunately, when we try to generate a report such as "Detailed Device" report and try to select All Devices from the Device Selector menu, we do not see any of our devices. However, we do find our devices listed under User-Defined Groups -> (Our DCR). Based on this, we can generate reports and everything is fine.Yet, we are doing this for a client of ours and they expect to see these devices listed in the "All Devices" section of the device selector. Apart from that, everything seems to be working fine.

I'm using LMS 4.0, after I auto discovery device, I can see all of devices on my network but I cannot view the links connect between the ASR 9000 and Catalyst 6509. I've just checked cdp neighbor on these devices, I can see the full of neighbors.
I attach 2 file, with the visio topology and the topology view on LMS , and I'm 100% sure about the connections between these devices are used. I try to re-discovery many times but it not work correctly.
we have a 4510r-e running 12.2(50)SG1 w/ various rj45 line cards and a 24 port glc card.at any given time, i see 10's of ports in 10/full.i go to the station, and find the station in 100/full or 1000/full.
i go to the switch w/ my fluke, connect it directly to the switch w/o any intermediate infrastructure except a 50cm cat6 patch cable.the fluke reports 1000/full, but THE SWITCH PORT REPORTS STILL 10/FULL.all ports are config'd 'speed auto' and 'duplex auto'.
the switch seems to be erroneously reporting 10/full.there are no errors logged on any of the ports and there is successful communications even when the station and switch port report different speeds.even though there are no errors logged nor reported by 'show int [port]' nor 'sho int count error' certain killer applications crash on some stations. (the applications are GHOST (which dumps disk images from a server to multiple stations) and NETOP (which i sused in a classroom to transmit an instructors screen to a room full of stations) both of which broadcast and/or multicast.all nodes involved in the above 2 applics are on the same vlan and same phyiscal subnet.
the ports which report 10/full vary and occur even when the above applics are not in use.the only way i found to clear this 10/full report is by either a hardware reset of the entire module or by unplugging the cable, the execute on the port shutdown, speed auto, no shutdown, reconnect cable.then it's just a matter of time until it pops back to 10/full in a few minutes,hours or days.
how to address the killer applic problems besides restructuring the whole net by defining separate vlan for each lab of 20 or so stations?
We are running WCS 7.0.1 and ACS 4.2 using TACACS for our techs to login to WCS (to manage access points). However, when the tech trys to run reports, they get an error:
Permissions Denied
The user is setup in Active Directory and not in WCS. I saw something about adding the user to a group in WCS but again the user is setup in AD. Is there something we need to do in ACS? Not sure what do do.
I have Windows 7 x64 on my desktop, laptop, and HTPC. The past few months, everything worked fine. Today, I can ping my IP address but I cannot ping the host name on all 3.They also do not show anything in the network window, just the computer that I'm on.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWe have CPU reports set to run daily for some of our higher priority switches, and we've noticed that some of the data isn't meshing with what we see on the switch. We have one heavily utilized switch that reports near 100% CPU utilization sometimes. I can do a "show proc cpu history" on that switch and see that at least once an hour over 72 hours, we'll see a near 100% CPU utilization.
The problem is that these spikes never appeare on any of our reports. We'd like to see this info because even if the switch spikes for just a few seconds or a minute, it could still indicate that we may have issues. Without that in the report, we may never realize there could be a problem.
Is there a way for this info to show in the report? I'm under the impression that if LMS polls the switch and doesn't see a high utilization average, then maybe it doesnt' enter that in the report. I guess I'd just like to know how often it pulls this data, and how it decides wath the Min, Max, and Averages are.
is there any way to apply hostname or object network in the syntax? The command gives the option to use hostname or A.B.C.D but doesn't accept the hostname PIX1(config)# filter url except 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 ?configure mode commands/options: Hostname or A.B.C.D The address of foreign/external host which is destination for connections requiring filtering Can an FQDN be used as a foreign/external host?
View 3 Replies View RelatedOur Cisco team does inventory pulls with CNC and i was informed that this uses the hostname field currently the report pulls the IPadress, the discoveries that run on the LMS populates displayname field and puts the IP address in the hostname field. is there anyway to update this via query or process, i have too many devices to manually update this.

View 5 Replies View RelatedWe have one business application, accessed across GCC region by having a single entry with individual computer hosts file, ie123.123.155.116 myappl.mycompany.com and other than Bahrain, all countries are able to successfully resolve the hostname (application only works against hostname (Oracle EBS)) against this entry with the hosts file. Now, prior contacting the ISP in Bahrain (where internet is regulated due to the current political situations) we need to know whether anything could be done from our end to resolve this issue.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a small workgroup at home of about 4 or 5 computers. All the PC's, notebooks are running W7. I have one PC that I use as my "always on PC", with all my media and resources I use on it. The NetBIOS or computer name assigned to it is mediapc with a static IP of 192.168.254.150. All my other desktop PC's, excluding the notebooks, have a static IP also.The problem is more annoying then anything, and thus I only work on it intermittently. Today I decided to post after wasting much of another day attempting to resolve the issue.The problem is accessing my mediapc from any of my other computers while using the computer name, "mediapc". If I use the static IP assigned above, there is no problems. Everything works, RDP, Dameware, Telnet, SSH, Ping,Tracert, etc. If I use the computer name "mediapc" then it fails with an unreachable host error or similar. The reason it fails is because somewhere in my network or in the mediapc itself, it wants to resolve the "mediapc" name to an unknown IP of 192.168.254.47.
Now with this said, I can still share files and access the mediapc using the name in a UNC syntax, like //mediapc/data works fine or directly clicking on the mediapc share under Network works also. If I Ping mediapc from any other PC than itself, it fails with the 254.47 IP. If I try to use any remote connection software and use the name mediapc, it fails to connect.This is what I know and have tested:
1. Adding a host entry to all the client computers works but does not fix the root of the problem.
2. nslookup mediapc reports the wrong IP of 254.47
3. Remote connections as I mentioned above fail because the name is resolving to an invalid IP.
4. Pinging mediapc from itself, displays the correct IP of 254.150, although I have to use the -4 parameter.
5. Arp -a on all PCs report correct IP of 254.150 with the correct MAC address. (There is no 254.47 listed)
6. NBTstat -a mediapc reports correctly and shows the correct MAC address.
7. Network shares work correctly from and to the mediapc without issue. No access problems.
8. I have deleted all arp entries and flushed the dns with no change.
9. MS mentions to change order of the Bindings of the adapters, yet I only have one Local Area Connection.
I have modified my radius accounting reports using "interactive viewer" and saved successfully but the exported report doesn't reflect these changes. I'm just wondering what's the point of being able to modify the reports if you can't export your changes or there is something I'm missing?
View 3 Replies View RelatedWe use LMS 3.2 with the latest patches. In IPM we have a couple of collectors (availabilty latency etc) and reports for our customers.
The polling interval for all collectors are working hour 7:30 - 18:00 Mo - Fr.
Unfortunately the polling detail is not included in the PDF report. Is there a way to include this information in the report.
We're currently running on ACS 5.2.0.26.9 with 2 appliances (one primary and one secondary).Today, I wanted to get some reports from the Monitoring and Reports tool. At beginning, it seemed impossible to generate them. Later, I decided to reload first primary and then secondary. As soon as I've done it, I got an email alert telling me that it failed parsing NAD.

This is Cisco Prime LMS 4.2.2 on Windows 2008 R2
As far as I understand it Fault Manager need to be able to do reverse lookup for ip adresses to show the correct name in the "device name" column. I have double and tripple checked and all devices that only is shown as an ip address do have a reverse in the dns used by the LMS server. The device is correctly registered and inventory have been run. If I hold the mouse pointer over the crosshair on the row of the offending device all info is shown including correct device name and fqdn.
The server is upgraded from 4.2.1 to 4.2.2 and we have the same problem before the upgrade.
I have a new 1262AP configure hostname prompt, “APacf2.21c6.820e# lwapp ap hostname ccsaa ERROR!!! Command is disabled.”does not change the hostname of the AP to the WLC, this is why?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI manage the network of a small (120 users) network spread out over 5 sites within a 10 mile radius (for normal ops- extended ops can expand to include other cities).I think I'd call that a Campus LAN, perhaps it's just a really small MAN (for normal ops)...I am starting my CCENT/CCNA track so this may be blazingly obvious to some of you- but I'm sure to learn something either way...Every now and again we have to go find "hostname "X"" for an update that won't roll out by way of our (Server Sr SysAdmin's) tools, so we actually have to put hands on it. Unfortunately the prior admins didn't document the inventory to such a level that we know "laptop_015" is in the building down by the college.
I DO have documentation on my equipment (I'm the Network Sr SysAdmin) that I have rolled together over the last 9 months being here...I have a Cisco 5520 ASA, and use ASDM to manage it. What would be extremely handy would be the ability to put a query in the system to report back what switch a given hostname is plugged intoBetter yet, if it could tell me switch and switchport.I imagine this would be simple if I had the MAC address- there's got to be a way to grep the switches for a given MAC- but not sure if it'll work in a similar fashion for ARP lookups.
I am having trouble with getting a copier that I have networked to stay registered in the system. When connecting all the equipment back for the new year I was having trouble getting this one specific copier back online properly. I used to have it assigned with a static IP because the person that was here before me had all the computers map the printer using the IP instead of Hostname but that was causing IP conflicts so I removed it and mapped the printer through Hostname which is made "MPF-TOSHRM328"So now for the actual problem, after the copier got the new dynamic IP of 10.8.214.151 i thought it would be fine and everything would click in because it was mapped to the host name and not the IP. But when I do a tracert on the hostname it still shows up with the old IP. and now that the old ip has been reassigned it actually points to a physical machine now. Weird. All attempts to flush the DNS have not resolved the issue. I even tried going in and deleting the entries in manually. No luck. As a point of reference here is the result from the tracert.Tracing route to MFP-TOSHRM328.78B450.nycboe.org [10.8.214.126] over a maximum of 30 hops: 1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms SLS330W09 [10.8.214.126]Trace complete. I should also mention that this server is only here in the sense that it is the DC for the computers on this floor. There is a whole other system that assigns the IP's and handles the DNS. I do not have access to it, it is run by the main network people at the central offices.

3. If is possible I can restore only the hum module from LMS backup

However, after rebooting the server (as required by windows), the LMS application did not launch.After rolling the windows server back to the old hostname, the LMS started working again.Why is this? Isnt it possible to change the server hostname after the LMS has been set up for the first time?
