Nov 30, 2011is it possible to create some Configuration Template that pushes configurations only to switches or interfaces with a certain actual existing configuration element- e.g. a certain interface description?
Example:Template Parameter Mask asks User for an Interface Description- the User enters e.g. "A101" Second Parameter asks User for an access vlan to deploy to this interfaces- e.g. " 10"
So during deployment LMS make a "switchport access vlan 10" only on interfaces that contain the description "A101".
I know this is possible via Compliance Check/Deploy, but we want to make this more User friendly and flexible so that e.g. a Helpdesk Member can use this Template to easily change the VLAN based on a interface description (which refers in this case to a CAT5 outlet label).

Aug 17, 2011We have created a sample configuration for ISRG2 2901 Router. The sample configuration is long, and with copy/paste it is possible to skip some lines, and it is difficult to ensure the configuration of every device is standardized due to this error possibility. What we are trying to achieve is first create a template from this sample configuration file, and then create configuration files for each device seperately and automatically. After creating this configuration instances, we want to be able to distribute the configuration files (and possibly the ios) to the devices during the staging phase. Since there are about 1000 2901 routers, creating configuration files is important?
From searching we have found the following tools:
1) CCE (Cisco Configuration Engine): This tool seems to be very efficient for distributing the created configuration files. We may use the serial number of the device, and it provides almost zero touch provisioning of the configuration files to the devices. Creating the configuration file from the template seems to be manual, i.e enter the ip addresses of the interfaces, the routing tables one by one for each device. How can we use velocity template for device configs?
2) Ciscoworks LMS Prime: It is possible to create a baseline template for the devices, and after getting the backup configuration of the routers, it is possible to compare the actual configuration of the device with the baseline template, and understand if there is any difference with each other. This is indeed very useful in order to keep the configuration standardized, we again could not find a way to create bulk configuration files from the baseline template.
3) Solarwinds Config Generator: This tool is useful for creating a configuration file from a template, but again not for automatically creating configuration files, and needs manual intervention.
4) Excel Macro: It seems that some people have achived to automatically create configuration files with using an excel macro, but we could not find a procedure or tip of how to achieving this.
5) Pearl or TCL/TK Script: Again since we are not software developers but from networking field, it is difficult to achieve a working form of this scripts or codes due to to lack of documentation and development experience.
Cisco Firewall :: Pix 515 Configuration Required
Oct 18, 2011I am very confused on how I setup a Pix 515 that I just got to route traffic out a cable modem. First, let me give you a little details on my current network setup and what I am trying to accomplish with this Pix 515. Currently all my users go out the proxy for any internet access, however I have certain users that need to go out the cable modem instead of the proxy server. Below is an example of the current IP setup of a user A:The cable modem that we currently have has DHCP so I would need the external PIX address to accept a DHCP address. I also don't really understand what else I need to setup so if I have say four users hitting the cable modem through the pix how do I direct their web traffic to the correct computer (NAT ?),I will be plugging the PIX into a cisco switch that all ports are in VLAN 48 so hopefully a static internal address on the pix of 10.24.48.254 will keep me from having to do any routes since all traffic will be originating from the 10.24.48.0 network.

We have a 2003 terminal server running and successfully receiving connections through both WAN connections. Depending on location, half the users are connecting to WAN1 IP and the other half to WAN2 IP. We are getting sporadic disconnects of the remote users when they are idle for a couple minutes and automatic reconnection of the session takes over a minute. If they close the (locked up) session and reconnect manually it will let them in right away.
Could the handling of the Dual-WAN be the culprit? Could the same gateway for both WAN's create this issue upstream (out of my control)?I am going to move everyone to connecting through WAN1 and then change to Smart Link Backup and see if the issues persist.
Another thought is to use a secondary IP on the terminal server and use Protocol Binding to match "All traffic" for IP1 to WAN1 and IP2 to WAN2, which theoretically would stabilize the situation?
Cisco Wireless :: 1941W Basic Configuration Required
Apr 22, 2012I am replacing a cisco linksys router with a 1941w.
I have the 0/0 accepting a DHCP from the ISP then I have 0/1 going to a switch and hosting a dhcp server.
Where I have an issue is:
A) Finding a way to turn on the wireless and make it use the same DHCP as wired and setting up a user name/wep password
B) Turning on the GUI that is supposed to be embedded on this.
C) Finding a way to make the DNS point to the default gateway so that I don't have to set the address everytime we move the box.
Here is my current configuration, and with it I can get onto the wired network and get to the internet.

Jan 3, 2012I want to start implementing a small outdoor mesh network of 3 APs Aironet 1550 in order to grow afterward with more APs. Is there any way to configure those 3 APs in an outdoor mesh configuration (for example, only one RAP and two MAPs) without a Wireless LAN Controller or I have to have at least, one WLC? My idea is to have a WLC 5508, but at the very beginning I don't know if my budget is gonna allow me to cost the WLC.

Oct 16, 2012I've gotten to the point where I can test against active directory and get in, also I can get AD groups from my server on the ASA. My problem, I can't connect in via my AnyConnect client on my Android. I immediately get a "log in failed" and I know I'm using the right username/pass. Doing a little troubleshooting, I have attached my AnyConnect debug log and the results of the "debug ldap 255" command on the ASA. Also, I've used ldp.exe to determine I can connect in with the username/password combo I'm using.Combing through the AnyConnect logs I see a few instances of "global error unexpected" but no Google searches have brought up anything useful.

Interestingly enough when I 'sh conf | i snmp' the user command isnt there, however it shows it under 'sh snmp user'. Using Solarwinds Eng Toolset to attempt to just pull interfaces and it keeps kicking back with creds failing.

Now they have UT working well for their Ctalyst 4500 switches, and the half of the 6500s (They have 2950 switches as well, but for those UT with SNMPv3 is unsupported). So the problem is the following: they have 12 6500 switches, with the same IOS version (10 pieces of WS-C6506-E + SUP720-3B IOS: 12. 2 (18) SXF17 (IP Services), 2 pieces of WS-C6506 + SUP720-BASE IOS: 12.2(18)SXF17 (IP Services)). They have identical SNMP configuration on both devices. Based on the logs from LMS it seems that on the problematic switches for some reason LMS identifies the switchports as routed: [code]

Cisco :: 2960 - LMS 4.2.2 SNMPV3 Wrong Privacy Algorithm
Oct 24, 2012we use LMS 4.2.2 to manage our Cisco devices. At the moment all devices are managed with snmpv2. I´ve picked one Catalyst 2960-24TT-L Version 12.2(25)SEE3 and configured snmpv3
Here´s the output of show snmp user:

Now, in LMS under Admin->Network->Device Credentials Settings-> i created a new credential set "snmpv3" with the correct user/password and following settings: AuthPriv (enabled) Auth Algorithm MD5 Privacy Algorithm DES (because the 2960 12.2(25)SEE3 doesn´t support any other alorithm).
I´ve edited the credentials and assigned the new set to that device. Now to test the snmpv3 credentials i´ve started an Device credential verification job an chose snmpv3 only. But every time the job failes with the error
Wrong Privacy Algorithm.

Where can I access the result of "snmptranslate -M<MIB-dirs> -m ALL -Td <ps-status/test-oid>" if this is implemented in LMS overall? What are the OIDs from Cisco's ps-status/test, if the translation of MIB-enums is not implented?

Oct 19, 2010With lms 3.2 during installation we can choose what to install i.e. not install DFM or IPM.
How can we do this in the new release 4.0 of the LMS bundle. I saw no options for it during installation of the new server.

Aug 29, 2011Cisco release the Cisco Prime LMS 4.1 on Aug. 2011. I download the lms4.1 from cisco and install it, but the lms4.1's evaluation license expire date is Oct. 28 2009. So my license already expired after I install the LMS4.1.
