View 5 RepliesI have a computer that I built a few years ago. Not sure of the exact specs, but for this question, I'm not really sure it matters other than the fact that I am a diehard XP fan. Guess which OS I am using. It does not have an onboard NIC, so I am using a NetGear WG111v2 wireless adapter that I got at just about the same time as the computer. I recently moved in with some friends and they have wireless internet. I hooked up my pc, and proceeded to connect to the internet. I got a good connection, but the dreaded "Limited or No Connectivity." First off, I tried disabling the connection and then re-enabling. This had no effect. So, like always, I do a power cycle. Same thing. Ipconfig gives me a 169.254.x.x, nonroutable, ip address. I release and renew. No good. Reset winsock. No good. Device manager says my adapter is working and drivers are up to date. In any case, I uninstall and reinstall it only to find the same results as before. There are three other computers on the network, one of which is my laptop, that all connect and are provided private ips by the router.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI no longer have internet access from my home network ONLY on my desktop computer. Everything was working fine as always - then while I was in my Network and Sharing Center, and clicked on my ethernet connection, 'Local Area Connection 3', I accidentally disabled it. No big deal I thought, so I re-enabled the connection. Except for some reason, my connection is all screwed up now. The name of this connection was and always has been 'dkm2' and now it just says 'Network', with no internet access. I have unplugged the cord and plugged it into this laptop and it immediately recognizes 'dkm2' and connects flawlessly, so I know the problem is on the desktop computer's end, and not the cable or router. I have tried reinstalling the ethernet adapter, as well as reinstalling/updating all drivers for it.The network diagnostic tool turns up with a message that says the connection between either my ethernet adapter or router and the Internet is broken. No matter what I seem to try, I can't get my connection to go back to it's normal 'dkm2' connection and stop giving me a generic, disconnected 'Network'. I can't figure out what could have changed. All that happened was the disabling and enabling of Local Area Connection 3.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI purchased a WNDR3400v2 probably around two months back and since then I haven't had any issues with it. Now, I like to keep the security setting on WPA2-PSK for the security but my brothers and my own Nintendo DS don't support this security for connecting. So, since my previous router had a guest network, I decided to activate and deactivate that network with no security when it was needed (Half hour or less), and I haven't had any issues until doing this with the WNDR3400v2.
Basically what happens is, after disabling the guest network again, no wireless devices can connect to the router... PERIOD... Upon trying to connect it also says "You are unable to connect) right after it verifies the password. I spent a few hours trying to fix it but I haven't gotten anywhere really..
What I have tried-v
-Resetting the Router
-Powercycling the Router
-Resetting it to factory defaults and restoring previous settings
-Enabling and disabling the network
-Deleting the original network saved on the computers and connecting as if from a new network.
-Also tried restarting my computers
-Updating the firmware (For some odd reason I couldn't find any firmware last week..)
I researched it a bit and found some solid leads, but nothing that fixed the issue. The only "Fix" I could find was disabling the security and leaving it open.. Which I would prefer not to do for obvious reasons...
Router Type: Netgear Wireless Dual-Band N600 Router (WNDR3400v2)

however even with MD5 i can see the authentication data (output of MD5) and i think hacker can copy it and paste it in one RIP packet that he will generate !! isn't it ? so how much MD5 is secure ?
I am working on a network that has four nodes/Currently I have RIP running in between R1 and R2, and between R3 and R2. These are shared and R1 can access R3 just fine.R3 is running BGP and communicating with R4.R3 can ping everything in R4's network with no difficulty.Currently R3 is not rebroadcasting the BGP routes into RIPv2 as needed.I have tried clearing my BGP session and am still not able to get the BGP routes from R4 to R1.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWe currently have 3* offices located in London, Reading and Oxford which have a (ISP) VPLS service to interconnect all sites.I am using RIPv2 for intersite routing between all offices. We plan on implementing a backup circuit at the Oxford office for resiliency. There are 2* Core 4500 Switches, Core 1 is uplinked to the Primary circuit and Core 2 will be uplinked to the Backup circuit. At the moment Core 2 learns all of its routes from Core 1.My question is, if the Primary circuit goes down, how do we get the Routing on the Core Switches to than point out of the backup circuit?
View 1 Replies View Relatedsuppose i have one switch and many RIPv2 routers connected to it.ripv2 destination address is 224.0.0.9 that is mapped to 0100:5e00:0009 normally the switch will send this frame to all ethernet ports
is there a way to take benefit from the multicast address so that the frame will be sent only to the RIP routers.i know it is possible to map staticlly the mac address to some ports but is there any dynamic solution also?
I am having a problem reaching a soho linksys e1000 router through a second hop cisco 2900 router. Here is a brief topology of the network: I am using OSPF area 100 for all networks except for
192.168.2.0 on R1 to E1000 which is RIPv2
R1 directly connects to R2 with a point-to-point serial on network 192.168.12.0 /30 with ip 192.168.1.13
R1 directly connects to a a switchport using network 192.168.2.0 /24 with ip 192.168.1.75
R3 directly connects to a switchport using network 192.168.1.128.0 /25 with ip 192.168.1.129
R3 directly connects to a different cisco router using ethernet on network 192.168.1.0 with ip 192.168.1.1
E1000 directly connects to a switchport using network 192.168.2.0 /24 with ip 192.168.2.1
The switch has a vlan ip on 192.168.1.128 /25?I can ping from R1 to E1000?I can ping from R3 to R1 192.168.2.75? I can't ping from R3 to E1000 192.168.2.1?show ip route on R2 indicates that network 192.168.2.0 is reachable via the serial connection on 192.168.1.12?I have redistributed rip to ospf area 100 and OSPF to RIP on R1?I am wondering why R1 can reach E1000 on network 192.168.2.0, and why R3 can reach R1s 192.168.2.0 newtork, but R3 can't reach the E1000.There is an R2 router than can reach R1 and also cannot reach E1000, but I assume it's for the same reasons R3 can't, so I've omitted the remainder of that topology for this question.
I started using RIPv2 on Packet Tracer. I got two subnets to connect with two routers. After I completed that, I decided to add a third router. How to setup the Routing Table for atleast R3 ?

The device cannot have any possibility of connecting to the internet, and also cannot have a webcam. I may be able to find one without a webcam, but I think the possibility of finding one without a NIC wouldn't be easy, if at all possible.
I can only think that disabling the network adapter in registry edit will be something she won't be able to undo (she's not majorly tech savvy).
I've not purchased the laptop/netbook yet, but I would like to know if it's possible and/or how to do it before I buy it.

View 3 Replies View RelatedWe just recently upgraded a 5540 ASA running 8.2 to a 5555 running 8.6. I have a question concerning disabling proxy ARP with static nat rules in place. We have several instance where devices in a dmz have a static nat entry to the outside and a static nat entry to the inside using the same IP. My question is if we disable proxy arp on the inside interface would that cause device on the inside not to be able to reach the device in the dmz? From what I have seen you don't want to disable it on the outside interface due to all the static nat translations. But we have some that are have nat translation going to the inside as well. How does proxy arp come into play there? Below is a diagram of an example of the setup I a referring to. This is on the new 5555 running 8.6
View 1 Replies View Relatedmy company has used Split Tunneling for all of our VPN uses, however we recently purchased 2 ASA5505s for use at various jobsites, and have been running into problems with Local Network Administrators blocking certain traffic that we need to operate. They allow full VPN connectivity to traverse their networks, so we are able to use our LAN Resources over the split tunnel no problem.
We have it set up as a Dynamic L2L Connection, and this ASA is operating flawlessly minus the traffic being blocked upstream by the network admin. Our VPN topolgy is Hub & Spoke. Below is excerpts from our config on how the VPN is set up: [code]
What we'd like to achieve is being able to pass ALL traffic (LAN & Internet) through the VPN tunnel, then be processed by the Hub ASA (192.168.9.1) on the other end. I am guessing crypto map + routing would have to be changed?

We need ip address dhcp setroute so our ASA can find the other end and form the VPN tunnel, and I am not sure how this would affect things. [code]

I've determined [but not limited it to] that the computer heating is causing the computer to automatically disable the connections. I've looked at the Drivers and have found that one of the Drivers disables itself and will not re-enable when I try to enable it again. When I try to reboot, it stalls on the Shutting Down screen indefinitely [I must force restart].

I've checked the BIOS, but I haven't found much of anything. After tampering for a while with it, I received a BSOD. I have the Motorola SURFboard SG6580 cable modem/wireless router combo. However, I'm only using my Linksys WRT54GL for the wireless functions. It's been my old standard for years, not to mentioned I have my entire wireless encrypted network setup via this device.
So, recently I've been trying to set up Port Forwarding and I've been having trouble getting sites like canyouseeme.org to see the port. After speaking with Tech Support at my ISP, they had me disable some of the settings in my SURFboard modem in order to deactivate the router side of things to get it act only as a cable modem. However, my port forwarding is still not working.
Here is a screen shot of all the pertinent screens of my SG6580 properties, and what they had me set. if I have properly configured the modem to not interfere with my other wireless setup so I can at least rule this out as what's blocking my port forwarding?

Expected NAT entry should as below :
"NAT from inside:177.26.99.10 to outside:111.111.111.111 flags Ii"
We were considering implementing "ip verify revert-path" .Hence here i am thinking whether xlate-bypass is the issue here and implementing same with "ip verify revert-path" woud be a good idea.

Im running 8.3 on a 5505. We've got a few ssh tunnels originating from inside to some place on the internet. It seems these tunnels are closed every n minutes. I've seen two recommendations for altering the timeout values, and what I am interested in is infinite timeout (0) for these SSH tunnels.
Suggestion 1, alter timeout "conn". Default is 30 minutes, but I suspect this might have a negative impact because no inactive connections would be closed, ever. If it however is recommended to alter, how to set it to "0" (off/unlimited)? timeout conn 1:00:00 half-closed 0:10:00 udp 0:02:00 icmp 0:00:02
Suggestion 2, enable a ssh class map which explicitely set the timeout for the ssh connection. Is this recommended? How would I achieve unlimited time? And what about random-sequence-number disabled as seen below, is that really recommended?
class CLASS_MAP_SSH
set connection random-sequence-number disable
set connection timeout idle 48:00:00 reset
set connection decrement-ttl
