Cisco Routers :: Completely Turn Off Wireless Network Of RV220W?
Aug 24, 2011
I am using the RV220W with the latest firmware, I disabled all the four APs and also disabled the Radio, but the "Wireless" green light on the front panel still ON, why? How can I completely turn off the wireless?
Quoted from manual: WIRELESS—The Wireless light is green when the wireless module is enabled. The light is off when the wireless module is disabled.
Moreover I tried to disable the "Radio" while enabled one AP, I found that I can still connect to that AP, so what is the Radio's Enable/Disable used for?

I'm on a home computer and we use a router to deliver internet connection to the multiple computers in our house. However, lately I have been noticing that occasionally one of the computer's, on the network, internet connection drops but yet all the other computers are still working fine with their internet connection. And the internet doesn't completely turn off, like there is no "X" on the two computer screens down below...it just loses its little globe icon...In order to get back the internet, you would have to basically disconnect from the internet connection network and then go back into it and it's back again.
I was wondering, because I'm starting to get suspicious, is it possible that somebody on the network in my house the deliberately found a way to turn of the internet access for one of the computers? I was alerted by checking different websites that it is possible that somebody on your own home network can "hack" into another computer, view its internet history, and even disable internet. How do I know this is happening for sure and take steps to stop it. I want to catch who is doing this because nobody is telling the truth .

We have a new DCS-5220 that we're playing with, seeing what we can do with it, and have a number of questions as well as one possible bug to report. I was somewhat surprised when tier 3 support said this was the best place to cover them all - including the bug.We are using firmware version 1.02, which is what the camera came with.
In the webgui, under Configuration > Tools > System > "Turn off the LED indicator" this is completely ignored by the camera. The red power LED is always on, and the green status LED flashes as long as it has a network connection. This is clearly a bug. What is the root password? Is there a URL we can pole for a static image? (ie.url... which would trigger a snapshot every time the URL is requested)Are there any shell commands for motor control? If so, what are they?Is there a shell command to retrieve logged in users? If so, what is it?Is there a shell command for controlling the LED activity? It would be really nice if the status LED lit green when there was someone logged on to the webgui. Perhaps this is the intended activity, and it not doing so should be filed away as part of the above bug..

We have installed a cisco rv220w for a client that use to have a simple linksys router and are having some difficulties configuring it. Here is what we are trying to accomplish:
1) we are trying to see cameras at an office using the iphone.
2) with the linksys we would point the iphone app to the manufacturers dynamic dns account that was tracking the ip address at the office. In turn, the linksys had 3 ports forwarded to the camera controller. All was great.
3) we then installed a cisco rv220w and what happens is when the iphone is outside the internal network (on 3G) it works fine. If the owner comes back to the office and connects to the local wifi he can no longer connect to the camera controller. If he types in the local ip address of the controller it works fine but we can't seem to go out of the internal network, connect to the ddns server, and then come back in. This is only an issue if he has 3G and wifi on in the internal network.
4) if he's on a different wifi network and has 3G on it works just fine.
5) how can i setup the router to allow me to go outside the network and then redirect me back in with both antennas on?
Below are the settings we used.
Linksys:
Forward tcp port 81 to 192.1681.200 (controller)
Forward tcp port 41790 to 192.168.1.200 (controller)
Forward tcp port 1025 to 192.168.1.201 (ip video server)
[Code]....
One last note: we installed cisco AP-541 access points in a cluster. No settings were modified on the access points and i think they worked fine with the linksys installed but will have to check.

We have
1-A wireless link (pre-wimax) that provide me with 2 Mb internet connection (tagged Ethernet frames) throught RJ-45
2-have 6 real IP _one of them as Gateway
What i need now is what is the best and cheapest device to do NAT and DHCP to allow users to access the internet , i am trying to do this using Cisco AP 1141 and the link is working fine with static ip configuration on my lap (give my wireless NIC real IP) but now i just need device to do NAT and DHCP
My suggestion is can i use Cisco RV220W Wireless-N Network Security Firewall to do this function. is the WAN port on this router support tagged Ethernet frames ??? or even untagged frames and can i give this router one of those public IPs and give the rest of those IPs statically to other devices on the network.

We have RV220W at corporate office...intent is to have (5) groups of (3) users each connecting via VPN. Had assumed would be using QuickVPN and have set up users, etc and connections at current locations are quick, smooth, reliable. I have set up (2) locations (6 users so far). However, after 4th connection (no matter where or in what order) client hangs at "Verifying Network" and doesn't complete connection. So, I have unique usernames, etc but each of the (3) at a location are hitting the router with the same IP. Is this the problem? I'm sure the RV220W can handle 15 simultaneous connections, but can the router deal with (3) connections from the same external IP?

I recently got my Cisco wireless system working a few days ago and am back with a guest network. Our wireless system includes one 2504 controller and 2 2602i access points. So, I want a wireless guest network completely isolated from the LAN.
Here is what I have done.
I have created a new internal network and assigned 192.168.2.1 to an unused port on the firewall and 2.2 to a new controller interface with vlan 10. I can ping both 2.1 and 2.2 from the firewall and the controller. Basic network connectivity is working. The DHCP server is setup on this same firewall and configured only for this port. This address is referenced in the controllers interface.
A new w lan was setup and enabled. The proper interface group was selected on the w lan. I have left the default layer2 security.
As far as AAA servers tab in this wlan, this is where I am a little confused. I wish to just have a single log in for this guest network. I wasn't sure what to do so I went over to the Security tab and created a "local net users" account. I do not know how to reference the use of this under wlan, security, aaa servers. Should I check the box that says "local eap authentication"?? If so, I don't have a profile name in the drop down. What I'm looking for is the username/password to be stored locally on the controller itself since there will be only 1 account.
Under wlan, advanced tab, I do not have "Allow AAA override" checked. Should I?
Lastly, when I try to connect the client, it is not pulling a dhcp address. I wasn't sure if authentication was required before dhcp or the other way around so I'm not sure what to trouble shoot first, authentication or dhcp.

I'm an architect working in a small office that happens to be home to two seperate businesses, each with their owner network. However, these two networks want to use the same large format printer. I recently purchased the RV180W since the Cisco representative told me i would be able to connect both networks to the router so they can both see the printer without seeing the files on each of the other networks. We simply want to share the same printer.
Network 1:
192.168.4.1
Network 2
192.168.2.1
Large Format Printer
192.168.4.151
Network 1 has the RV180W as it's router with three gigabit switches. Computers and peripherals are connected to the three switches. 1 port open on the last switch.
I want to configure the RV180W to see both 192.168.4.1 and 192.168.2.1
What settings need to be modifed in order to accomplish this? Do I need more equipment? Is it easier to put a wireless card in one of the computers on the 192.168.2.1 network and then set it to see the 192.168.4.1 network?

I had a network connection to the main family computer that just completely disappeared after I got back on it. It had been on all day because it was defragmenting, but a few minutes after I got back on it (I had just sat down in the chair and sent a couple messages on a chat I was in and dismissed an "Oh, Windows Media player found another WMP on main computer! Wooo!" notification) and then it was gone.
I assumed the internet had crashed so I gave it a couple hours, no internet. I stayed up longer waiting, writing, playing some games, but nothing. I didn't check the Network computers thing until now.
Usually even when the internet crashes the main computer still shows up in the computer list but it was just mine then. It seems like it totally dropped the connection and it can't find it again when I try to create a new one. It's not like I watch p~rn or download anything I'm not supposed to download so...
And the network icon doesn't have a big red no connection at all x - It's just the two computers, no world icon, no x. I've tried booting in safe mode with networking, nothing, 'netsh winsock reset catalog' + 'netsh int ip reset.log, nothing, create new connection, nothing, and repair memory problems, nothing. : Microsoft Security Essentials found no viruses after a full scan, and it had been updated hours before the internet had a tantrum. I recently uninstalled Malwarebytes because according to a friend its update crashed her computer so I have no other virus scanner to use.
Oh, I'm runnning a Windows Vista Home Premium. Mine is genuine, it came with the computer, but my father had the bright idea to use -my- Vista disc to install it on the main PC, so it's all 'rawr not genuine' though as far as I know, my father's W7 laptop is still running just dandy.
We use a D'Link router, and it's worked fine until now. I don't actually know how my computer is connected, I'm pretty sure it's hardwired to the modem or router, but my father's is wireless. I've been searching like mad for the router's wireless USB thing, but it seems to have walked out the door.

My Network is gone from my list of available networks on my MacBook. I use s NETGEAR router, my network name is simply "NETGEAR" i have never named it anything else since installing this over 4 years ago. I have unplugged the power cord, waiting several minutes before plugging it back in. Also tried unplugging both the cable and the power cord. The router has no small "pin hole" that i can see in order for me to try to re-set it this way. It has literally disappeared from my Mac. Do i need to re-install using my NETGEAR cd?

we're running all our components (Computer, game consoles etc.) via ethernet cable. We have a wireless router (model #F7D4301) that we would like, if possible, to operate as a wired router without emitting a wireless signal (wife's concerned about excess emf). Guy at Bestbuy told me earlier that there's somekind of setting that'll shut off the wireless signal. Wasn't getting anywhere with their tech-support though.

I am having issues where different laptops are dropping packets when communicating to the WAP on the RV220W. I have placed 3 laptops directly next to the router so there is no chance for walls to interfere. From each machine 1 at a time I perform a continuous ping. Here is a quick output from one of them:

I have an rv220w router with one SSID and the product says I can add up to 4 additional wireless ssid ie the router is protected with wpa but we have guests that would like to connect to the internet while working in our building . I would like to add a guest SSID with wep security that I could give Clients. The problem I run into is every time I add the Guest ssid the wireless printers that are attached to the routers' main ssid quit working. I noticed that when the rounter was orginally set up the main SSID has IP addresses from 100 to 255 allocated. Do I need to limit the IP addresses in the Main SSID to a smaller number so that the Guest SSID can use the remaining addresses.

i just setup an RV220W as my home router. Everything connected fine, etc. however, one of my wireless devices (it's a security camera) disconnects after 1 hour. I am able to reconnect the device if I either reboot it, reboot the RV220, or disable / re-enable the Port Forwarding rule I've established for it. Other wireless and wired devices do not have any issues. In the past, I had this same camera working for over two years over wireless while it was connected to a Linksys E2000 router. I enabled the logs on the RV220W last night, and the error message that I receive is: secureBit not set in GTK Msg2. I've got the same SSID on the RV220 that I had on the E2000, same port forwarding, same MAC address client list, etc. Like I said, none of my other wireless or wired devices disconnect at all, just this camera, which worked flawlessly until I switched routers.

I have a Cisco RV220W running the latest firmware (currently 1.0.4.17), and I have noticed that after about a week of use, wireless clients can no longer acquire IP addresses via DHCP.
I have used Network Monitor on both the DHCP server, and the WiFi client, and can see that the server is receiving the requests and sending a reply, but the client never sees the response from the server. So far the only way to resolve this is to reboot the router.

I just bought a RV220W. One of the features I need to setup is a daily wireless plan, i.e. parental control: my wireless connection needs to be open at different times depending on the day, for 2 specific wireless devices, while others wireless devices have continuous access. Unfortunately, the wireless schedule only lets me set up one start/stop time only (i.e. the same one every day).
I noticed that I could possibly set up a firewall access rule with a specific schedule, but I have no idea if this would work, and how to set it up. My basic idea was then to open the wireless SSID I want to control from 7.30am to 11pm every day, and then add a firewall rule that would close the access to the said devices (using their MAC address) from say 10-11pm on given days... But I am not quite sure how to set this up.

I have a RV220W with the latest firmware (1.0.2.4) and I loose about one in every 20-40 packets.
I have tried with both wireless/wired, on different ports, laptops, and Ethernet cables.
My configuration is fairly simple:
1.) I reconfigured the default subnet
2.) I setup a WAP on the same vlan (VLAN1)
3.) I setup a WAP on Vlan2 for guests
Other than that, settings are out of box (save a hostname/etc).
just purchased it, and am thinking I'll have to phone Cisco for RMA.... There is a similar thread where people noticed this on wireless (not sure if they tried wired as I have). RV220W Packet Loss over wireless

I have a Catalyst 3750 that was already configured with a minimal setup and integrated into one of our labs. The 3750 works fine and does everything we need it to for our internal wired network for that specific lab. The owners of the lab are trying to integrate an RV220W into the lab. So i am trying to set up this RV220W as just an access point as was requested. I've disabled all of the extra features on the device so it is being used as a WAP/Router. We have separated the 2 networks into separate VLAN's. VLAN 2 is used for the wireless, VLAN1 is used for the wired. The wired works great. I can connect to all devices on the cisco switch through the RV220W and vice versa.
We have tried disabling the RV220W's dhcp and using the rv220 as a dhcp relay from a server in the lab but it has the same results, so we've disabled dhcp from the lab and are using it on the rv exclusively since everything else is static.
Cisco3750 <----> RV220W <---- wireless/wired devices.
192.168.10.x for the wired network.
192.168.2.x for the wireless.
I can ping both sides of the VLAN's(If i have .10 IP, I can ping 192.168.2.1(interface for wireless VLAN on the router) when wired into the RV or plugged directly into the switch... Here it comes...
as soon as i connect the RV220w into the Catalyst switch the wireless gets EXTREMELY intermittent. The network shows up then doesn't show up in available networks. When i try to connect to it, it will time out and connect back to other available networks. As soon as i unplug the device from the switch the wireless is stable and there are no problems connecting to it.
We tried using a Dell switch instead of the Cisco to test, the wireless is stable. Wireless assign's a .2 subnet IP as it should and i can connect to everything on the Dell switch(.10 subnet) and vice versa. Also connected this device into a couple different 3750's and had the same issue. They are not heavily configured so many default settings may still be enabled.
Also tested 2 other devices on the Cisco switch, a linksys WAP and a Netgear Router. Both acted the same. I don't think it is the RV220W. I'm sure i'm missing something on the Cisco switch.

I have a RV220W operating in 2.4GHz N-only mode. Channel bandwidth is set to 20MHz, channel to 6 (a site survey shows that channel as completely clear), WPA2/AES. I am connected to a TrendNet wireless bridge. The admin page for that wireless bridge shows a link quality of 100% with a signal strength of 71%. If I select a higher channel (11), the signal strength drops to 51%.
I have a Windows 7 PC connected to the Trendnet bridge and a Windows 7 server connected to the RV220W, both via a 1Gbps LAN port. When I transfer a file from the server to the PC or vice versa, I get a lowsy 2MBps (~20Mbps) transfer rate. That seems awfully slow. I tried channel bonding from 20 to 40 MHz

I have an RV220W running firmware 1.0.4.17. I have a couple of wireless laptop users that connect to the wireless without problems, but frequently cannot access the Internet. They can always access local network resources, but for some reason when laptops are first powered up or are idle for a prolonged period of time, Internet access is lost. Wired clients never experience this problem and always maintain local network and Internet connectivity.
To get the laptops to access the Internet over wireless, we have to run a TRACERT command from the command prompt to a public IP address, and then all Internet access is restored.

I provide support for a small business network. ISP: Silo Wireless (wireless point to point with ISP) Router: Cisco RV220W Wireless-N Network Security Firewall
The router is configured with two wireless access points with SSIDs: "abracadabra" and "abracadabra-guest". The only difference between these two wireless networks is their passcode. Up until now I have had no problem connecting devices to either wireless network.
My problem lies with an HP Pavilion laptop running Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit that I'm trying to connect to the "abracadabra" wireless network.
Network and Sharing Center shows "Identifying" for a while and then shows "Unidentified network" with no local or internet access. Wireless network connection status says that Media State is Enabled, Speed is 54Mbps and Signal Quality is Excellent. Network Connection Details shows that DHCP is Enabled but it's getting an Autoconfiguration IPv4 address of 169.254.107.138...
The laptop is running ESET Nod 32 Antivirus 5 and Windows Firewall and I've disabled Windows Firewall on the Wireless Network Connection. I've also tried re-installing the wireless nic driver, it's running the latest from Windows Updates.
what really gets me is that the laptop can connect to "abracadabra-guest" fine and access the internet
