Cisco Routers :: RV180 To Setup A VPN Tunnel Between Remote Site And Central Office
Aug 18, 2012
I bought 2 RV180 to setup a VPN tunnel between a remote site and central office. The VPN tunnel is established, I can ping from central office to remote site but browsing on that server fails. [code]
Seems the routing is not really working through the VPN Tunnel.
I'm trying to set up a VPN tunnel between a Linux machine and a RVS4000 at a remote site (served via satellite connection). After many efforts, I finally succeeded (based on Openswan). However, while PINGing is OK, big packets (from the RVS4000 LAN to the Linux box) arrive corrupted.
I lowered the WAN MTU, with no success. What finally did the trick is to lower the MTU at the RVS4000 LAN interface. Since this is not possible via the Web I/F, I did it via telnet ("ifconfig eth0 mtu 1400"). However, this change is lost after router reboot. How can I make the LAN MTU setting permanent?
We have successfully establish a site-to-site vpn, but we have some difficulties when PPTP users try to access the remote network linked by this tunnel. LAN users can access the remote network without problem, but users who are connected remotly to the lan (PPTP) can't access computer on the remote network. Is there a way to allow PPTP user to access the remote network ? Adding a route ?
Equipment Cisco1921, HWIC-1ADSL, 2 x GB Ethernet interfaces (Only one used for local LAN) Software IOS Version 15.1(1)T2..I have been asked to configure this router to provide an IPSEC tunnel back to our central office. We have been provided with an ADSL business class 7MB service from Telecom Italia, they have presented the circuit to our office with no terminating equipment (wires only). Telecom Italia have provided us with some IP addressing information as follows (I will not disclose the entire IP address) [code]
I can see that the packet count is increasing both inbound and outbound on the ATM interface. I have read many documents and tried many different way to try and get this resolved, I even logged a call with Cisco but no dice.
5 - Remote sites (no static IP there) 3 - Remote users (comercial) 1 - Central building (using static ip address)
Is it possible to establish a permanent vpn tunnel between each one of my remote sites to the main building, even if I have no static IP address in the remote sites?
Do you think that RV180 is the best choice to mannage vpn connection between remote sites and the central building securely and faster?
we have two ASA 5510s one in 8.4(4) and one in 8.2(5) in a site-to-site VPN setup. All internal traffic is working smoothly.Site/Subnet A: 192.160.0.0 - local (8.4(4)) Site/Subnet B: 192.260.0.0 - remote (8.2(5)) VPN Users: 192.160.40.0 - assigned by ASA When you VPN into the network, all traffic hits Site A, and everything on subnet A is accessible.
Site B however, is completely inaccessible for VPN users. All machines on subnet B, the firewall itself, etc... is not reachable by ping or otherwise. There are also some weird NAT rules that I am not happy with that were created after I upgraded Site A ASA to 8.4
Site A internal: 192.160.x.x External: 55.55.555.201(main)/202(mail) Site B (over site-to-site) is 192.260.x.x External: 66.66.666.54(all)
I pretty much just have the basic NAT rules for VPN, Email, Internet and the site-to-site.What do I need to add for the VPN to be able to access the site-to-site network?
I am trying to configure my network so that VPN traffic is only routed to a single physical port on the RV180 or to a certain subset of devices on a network.
I have a site-to-site vpn setup in a home office and am connecting to the corporate network. The user has a couple of devices running on the home network that need access to the corporate network.
We are hoping to leave his PC accessible to his home network as well as the corporate network, but restrict other devices from accessing the vpn.
I beleive I could do it by playing with the subnet but I can't get my head around it.
It's been a long time since I played in Cisco CLI.Using a Cisco 506 Firewall 6.3(4) PDM 1.0?Problem is I created a site to site tunnnel with a vendor and since then our remote VPN does not work. Completely times out so I am sure I broke something in the crypto map or something similar.
Tunnel is policy 10 using access-list 101 Remote VPN is Policy 20
Remote-access users aren't able to reach our remote network through a site-to-site VPN tunnel between two ASA 5505's.
I've seen several threads about that here, I've run through the walkthrough at [URL] I've taken a stab at setting split tunnelling and nat exemption, but it seems I'm still missing something. Remote-access users can reach the main site, but not the remote site.
Remote-access (vpn-houston) uses 192.168.69.0/24. The main site (houston) uses 10.0.0.0/24 The remote site (lugoff) uses 10.0.1.0/24
At the main site, I have 3 5508 WLCs each part of a mobility group (wlcMain-MG). In NCS, under "System/Mobility Groups" for each controller, I see each controller listed as "local" with the other Controllers listed with the group name "wlcMain-MG". None of the SSIDs are "anchored".
I have a new site with a 2500 series WLC that I would like to push out 2 SSIDs. This site contains two customers. One customer is the Main customer with the second customer leasing space.
I have the Cust2 WLAN at the remote site set to have traffic egress out of a local interface on the 2500 WLC (this traffic is then tunnelled back to their Main location via an ASA which houses the DHCP scope for that vlan). I can connect to this SSID, obtain an IP Address off the ASA and am tunnelling without issue.
For the Cust1 WLAN at the remote site, I would like to broadcast an SSID from the Main location on those same APs which are registered to the 2500. It is my understanding, that I anchor the SSID at the Main site and identically configure the SSID at the remote site. This will allow the end user to authenticate to the RADIUS server at the Main site and be placed upon the correct vlan (we are using DOT1x and dynamic vlans).
For my test, I am starting simple. I have created a test WLAN with no authentication. At the main site, on 5508 WLC3, I have created the test WLAN, and placed the interface into a low security vlan (call it VLAN-low). I have anchored this test WLAN to that controller. At the remote site, I have created the same WLAN (but placed it into the management interface for now - the VLAN-low does not exist at the remote site) and configured that WLAN to anchor back to the WLC3 at the main site. I am unable to obtain an IP address from the remote site. I have placed the remote site WLC in the wlcMain-MG as well. How close does the code need to be on the controllers - the 5508s are at 7.0.116.0 and the 2500 is at 7.0.220.0? What could I be missing?
So I just got a couple of Cisco RV180 routers that I am trying to setup a VPN link between the two. Both have their own static IP addresses on the WAN side, and so I used the Basic VPN wizard to define the public addresses for each other, use a pre-shared key, and set the local IP address ranges in the routers in the following layout: Router ALocal: 172.16.0.0/24Router BLocal: 172.16.1.0/24When I try to ping from one end to to a computer on the other I lose all the packets. When I looked at the transmission information, I found that Router A is transmitting but not receiving and that Router B is receiving but not transmitting.
Any one with any insite into getting this working. I have an rv180 configured for site to site vpn and dynamic routing. Should be a simple task but the vpn connects for a second than drops.
I am trying to establish a site to site VPN with a RV180 connecting back to a corporate Network using an ASA 5510. I have the RV180 setup with the Remote IP setting and a FQDN all setup and I am able to tracert back to the ASA but I wanted to know if I have to modify anything on the ASA side and how do I setup a pre-share key to establish the secure connection.
I have a situation where I need to have remote users vpn into my ASA 5510 and then turn around and hit a site to site tunnel. Now when I am in our office I can hit the site to site vpn fine. When I am at home and vpn to the asa I can not get to the site to site resources. Do you see where my config is incorrect? result of the command: "show run"
I have an existing VPN tunnel from my branch office to corporate.I want to allow my employees to establish a VPN connection to our local branch office where we have a local server, and not go through the corporate office. Can I set up a direct VPN connection to my router/ firewall at the branch office, even when there is a VPN tunnel already connected between my office and corporate?
I have a 5505 asa code version 8.3(2). Trying to set up a site to site tunnel with someone and he is asking if I can use ike v2. How do I go about setting up the tunnel to use ikev2? Is ikev2 an option with site to site tunnels?
I just joined this company and they already ad a VPN to one of their partners that provides them access to some resources. We have now added a 2nd location but the partner wouldnt allow a 2nd VPN tunnel so the decision was made to give the new location a ASA5505 to tunnel thru the main office to access the resources at the partners site.Using ASDM i believe i was able to setup the tunnel to the main office but there is no resource there to use. Now i'm stuck and i do not know what to do to get to the partner site
How can I set up a Cisco 831 router (branch location) so that it will accept inbound VPN Client connections and initiate a site-to-site IPSec tunnel to our hub location that uses a VPN 3005 Concentrator? I could get the tunnel to work by configuring it in a dynamic crypto map but interesting traffic on the Cisco 831 side would not bring the tunnel up.
Is it possible to have a site-to-site IPSEC tunnel between 2 identical RV110W routers?I basically want one of them to initiate a secure tunnel with the second so that computers from one router subnet see the computers from the other router subnet.
the RV110W IPSEC site-to-site tunnel, are there necessary 2 x public IPs for it to work, or only 1 public IP is enough? [code]If it works with 1 public ip, the "CLIENT" RV110W configuration should be straightforward (in Advanced VPN SetupRemote Endpoint i fill in the dyndns address?), but how do i setup "HOST" RV110W?
I'm replacing my RVS4000 with the RV180 but having VPN connection issues with the RV180. Let me know the VPN tunnels work perfectly fine on the RVS4000.I have configured my RV180 for 3 VPN tunnels. My ISP is Comcast (cable) Business class with a Static IP. First VPN tunnel is to another Comcast ISP and the VPN works flawlessly - connects immediately.Second VPN Tunnel is to Business class ISP (Verizon-NJ) and VPN will NOT connect.Third VPN Tunnel is to Business class ISP (Cox Network-VA) and VPN will NOT connect.I had opened both the RVS4000 and RV180 up on a browser and both settings from the units were idential. I reconnect the RVS4000, VPN tunnels work great, I unplug and reconnect the RV180, the Comcast VPN works, but the other two do not. From what the log is saying "[IKE] WARNING: no phase2 found" and the other says "[IKE] ERROR: remote identifier not found". It has to be something with the RV180 that I'm missing or possibly configuring incorrectly.
As you can see i have problems with connecting 2 SRP521W together for an VPN tunnel. I tried as much as I can but now i dont know what to do or how and where is the mistake? the connection between these two devices was there last week, after weekend (nothing changed in configs) the connection suddenly was interrupted, without any reason or warning. another day it worked again and 20 mins later connection was dead again...and now it wont establish at all.. here are some screenshots from the vpnconfigs of my devices. one has a static IP the otherone uses FQDN. These are the IKE policies: Here the IPsec Policies: and the GRE policies:
I have a site to site VPN tunnel configured between a rv220w and rv180. Everything works fine going from site to site on LAN connections. I'm now trying to tie in the remote site wireless (rv220w side) by pointing radius to my ACS server which is on the other side of the site-to-site tunnel but it seems as though it doesnt route across the site to site tunnel. If i put a radius server on the local lan on the remote site that authentication works fine. I have confirmed there are no ACL problems. the RV220W capable of using a radius server across the vpn tunnel?
I've create many s2s vpn tunnels before, but this one I just can't seem to get going. It's just a simple Site to Site VPN tunnel using preshared keys. Below is the running config for both routers. [Code] ..........
I can use PPTP and access all the PCs on a flat network at a remote site. I can ping the pcs and connect with netsupport manager. When I use QVPN I cannot do this. Why? I have added custom ports 5405 for NSM and applied ACL put no joy. I also added PING to ACL but it still doesn't work.
The sonicwall handles our site to site VPN tunnels. The Cisco handles our client to site VPN connections.
I have a unit that points to 10.10.199.106 (Cisco) for internet access. All other clients on the network point to 10.10.199.108 (Sonicwall) for internet access. The device in question, a Synology NAS, is using 10.10.199.68 as it's IP address.
I'm trying to hit the web interface on the NAS from a remote site across our VPN tunnel. The IP scheme on the remote end of the VPN tunnel is 192.168.72.0/24.
Going through the VPN, I can hit every object on the network that uses .108 (Sonicwalll) as it's gateway. However, I cannot hit the unit that uses .106 (Cisco) as it's gateway.
I added a route statement (using ASDM) that routes all traffic destined to 192.168.72.0/24 to the Sonicwall so it can send it back down the VPN tunnel. If I'm understanding routing correctly, this should allow responses from NAS destined for 192.168.72.0/24 to go back down the VPN tunnel.
I have a RV180 router and i am trying to use the Quick VPN Client version 1.4.2.1. It works fine on my Windows 7 pc, and worked successfully once on the windows XP sp3 pc. But now the XP pc will not work.
What looks strange is in the VPN Client Connection Status on the router I see the status is Online, however the XP pc will not ping anything on the network or connect to the RDP pc i want. The QuickVPN Client hangs on "Verifying Network".
I tried the suggestions i saw online:
Disabling Firewall Enabling Firewall Making user name shorter Allowing for PING on WAN (replies all come back fast) Reboot Router Upgraded firmware to 1.0.1.9
I did not adjust the MTU rate as i was not sure what to change it too. AV is AVG 2012.
I'm using a RV082 with latest firmware v4.0.4.02tm in one of our branch offices. Sometimes the tunnel to the main office (IPCOP 1.4.21) fails. Both sides display the status "tunnel connected" but IP traffic doesn't go through. If i try to ping the main office using the RV082 diagnostic feature, the RV082 seems to run into a loop...the window continues refreshing without any error message and i'm not able to cancel the test. If I restart the RV082 using the web interface, the "diagnose" and VPN problem still exists, even if the web interface told me that the device did a restart.
The only solution is to to a cold restart of the RV082. After that, the VPN tunnel works again....
This problem occurred 3 times in the last 3 weeks. I never hat this problem with previous firmware versions at this ot other sites.
