Cisco Routers :: Remote VPN On RVS4000 Router?

Oct 15, 2012

I configured a RVS4000 router to work a VPN terminator for remote users, like traveling or work from home staff. The Cisco quickVPN utility works as it shows VPN connection is successfully connected. However I can not ping any IP  address in my office network.

The laptop is windows 7 64bit. The office network subnet is 192.168.1.x/24. Home network subnet is 172.24.105.x/24.I also did "route print" after quickvpn showed me successful but I do not see anyroute about 192.168.1.x.BTW, I openned QuickVPN as administrator and disabled windows firewall while using QuickVPN.

Small Network / Random Computers Lose Browsing At Random Times?

Dec 29, 2012

Network running about 60 computers, most of which are running windows 7 professional. Some are on a domain, some are not.At (seemingly) random times, some computer on the network will lose the ability to browse websites (including the web interfaces of networked devices). I can't identify what circumstances cause this to occur. I only find out about it when someone calls me.From the affected computer:I can ping sites I can ping our Cyberoam UTM (which acts as our DNS, DHCP, and firewall)disabling/enabling connection doesn't fix the problem releasing/renewing ip doesn't fix the problem flushing dns doesnt fix the problem uninstalled antivirus on two test machines, problem still randomly manifests.replaced the Cyberoam with newer model users have claimed that if they wait a long period of time (40+ minutes) the problem sometimes resolves.rebooting the computer resolves the issue until it randomly occurs again changing the computer's mac address also resolves the issue until it randomly occurs again.

Cisco Routers :: Setup VPN Tunnel Between Linux Machine And RVS4000 At A Remote Site?

Jul 21, 2011

I'm trying to set up a VPN tunnel between a Linux machine and a RVS4000 at a remote site (served via satellite connection). After many efforts, I finally succeeded (based on Openswan). However, while PINGing is OK, big packets (from the RVS4000 LAN to the Linux box) arrive corrupted.

I lowered the WAN MTU, with no success. What finally did the trick is to lower the MTU at the RVS4000 LAN interface. Since this is not possible via the Web I/F, I did it via telnet ("ifconfig eth0 mtu 1400"). However, this change is lost after router reboot. How can I make the LAN MTU setting permanent?

I have set highest priority on  the port the phone is hooked up to at the remote site, and have set a  priority for upload traffic on both routers, but the phone stills drops  calls after 2 to 3 minutes.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Cisco E2500 - Using Gateway Address As Browsing IP For Connected Computers

Jan 31, 2013

Everything in our small network worked until today when I had to manually reset the router. We run a application through a provider which requires that we view it from the same IP address for access.  We have a statis IP assigned by our ISP solely for this purpose.  For simplicity, lets us 23.11.23.176 as the statis assigned by our ISP and 23.11.23.175 as the gateway also assigned by our ISP. The application we need to browse requires that we use the 23.11.23.175 address else it is blocked from viewing.  When we hard line into the modem, we are able to browse it fine.  When I connect the CISCO router and do it wirelessly, it shows our address as 23.11.23.176 what are the required steps in order to set the CISCO router to use the Gateway address as the browsing IP for computers connected to it.  We had set it up about a year ago, and i completely forgot how.

Cisco Routers :: RVS4000 - IPSec VPN Tunnel / Cannot Ping From One Network To Other

Aug 5, 2011

I have a RVS4000 at one location and a second RVS4000 at home.  I have established an IPSec VPN tunnel between them and it is UP.  I can ping the routers from each end no problem.  I can ping  the IPs listed in the "Local Group Setup" and the "Remote Group Setup" from both ends no problem.  I can even open up a shared resource from a Win 7 machine (e.g. by typing \10.10.10.100 in start-run from a computer on my home network).

But - i can't ping anything else on one network from the other.  What gives?  I need to access a 10.10.10.101 machine but can't even ping it.

- both RVS4000 boxes have latest firmware (V1.3.3.5)
- home RVS4000 setup with IP 10.10.11.1
- home network has a server with IP 10.10.11.20
- other location RVS4000 setup with IP 10.10.10.1
- other location server setup with IP 10.10.10.100

Tunnel settings on home RVS4000 (the other location properly mirror these).

Cisco Routers :: RV120W - Can't Map Win7 Network Computers Over VPN

Oct 9, 2011

I have installed an RV120W router specifically for the VPN capability. I have a small home office with 3 Win7 computers and a SeaGate GoFlex Home NAS drive opperating on the RV120W LAN. I need to allow users to access these networked computers and NAS device over the VPN by mapping their IP locations, such as 192.168.100.155, which is the local IP assigned by the router.

I am able to establish a QuickVPN connection without trouble. I had to set the port to 60443 as it was conflicting with the NAS drive, but this resolved that problem.

I am able to ping the router without any problem over the VPN using the local IP address. I am able to pull up the NAS web portal off the drive via the local IP address using a broswer. Therefore, I know I am talking to the drive via port 443 (I think that is the right port for http). I CANNOT ping the NAS drive over the VPN. I CANNOT ping ANY of the computers or the NAS over the VPN.

Through my reading it appears that a port is being blocked that might need to be opened. But, in the same readings, they say you should use a VPN so that you don't have any issues with blocked ports. I thought I was using a VPN!

I am testing the VPN on a WIN7 Pro laptop with the most current QuickVPN installed. I have also update the firmware on the router to the most current as well.

When I do an ipconfig /all command and look at what I think is the VPN information, there does not appear to be any tunnels established. I don't know if this matters, but thought it odd since I do have a VPN established.

I have enabled PING in the firewall and unchecked the Block Fragment Packets.

I should also note that I can remote manage the router using the 60443 port and an https connection to the local ip address, so clearing there is a connection. SO WHY CAN"T I SEE ANY OF MY WIN 7 COMPUTERS OR MY NAS DRIVE?

I have burned a lot of time on this and without the VPN capabilities, this router does me not good.

Cisco VPN :: VLAN On RVS4000 Disables Access To Remote Web Workplace?

The only problem is that either from the internal network or the guest network I can no longer access the Remote Web Workplace - [URL] or Outlook Web Access [URL] fails with page not found. Internally I can access via \server emote and \serverexchange but of course this does not work for the guest network. We have Small Business Server 2003. External access if fine.

Cisco Routers :: RV042 VPN Not Reconnecting And No Browsing

Mar 26, 2013

In common with some other reports, I've been having a problem with a keep-alive tunnel between a RV016 and a RV042 not reconnecting if the tunnel is interrupted (by the WAN connection going down).  In this event the only remedies are to manually connect the tunnel or to power cycle the routers.  The firmware is v4.2.1.02 on both routers.I solved the problem by enabling keep-alive on the RV016 and disabling keep-alive on the RV042.  If I set it the other eay around (RV042 keep-alive and RV016 not) then it will not reconnect automatically.
