Cisco Routers :: SRP527 - InterVLan Not Working?

Mar 21, 2012

I would like my SRP527 router to manage 2 VLAN. 1 for my whole LAN and employees WIFI connections, another one for external clients to access Internet by guest WIFI SSID.

- I have this Cisco SRP527W router acting as a gateway between my LAN and Internet.
- I have a second router used for VPN connections between my LAN and 2 external agencies.
- My LAN is using 192.168.0.0 / 255.255.255.0 network
- External Agence 1 is using 192.168.1.0 / 255.255.255.0 network
- External Agence 2 is using 192.168.3.0 / 255.255.255.0 network

The Cisco Router is using 2 VLAN :

-VLAN 1 (LAN port 4 and SSID 1) -> 192.168.0.254 / 255.255.255.0
-VLAN 3 (SSID  2) -> 10.33.0.254 / 255.255.255.0

The Cisco router is using 2 static routes :

- Agence 1 : 192.168.1.0 / 255.255.255.0 -> Gateway 192.168.0.249
- Agence 2 : 192.168.3.0 / 255.255.255.0 -> Gateway 192.168.0.249

The VPN router for external agencies is using 192.168.0.249 / 255.255.255.0.

When the SRP527W router has intervlan routing enabled, everything is working. I can ping my external agencies. However, external clients using guest WIFI can also ping my internal LAN. Disabling intervlan routing separate VLAN 1 and VLAN 3 properly, but i can't ping my external agencies anymore and i don't know why ?

Behind my Cisco router :

- 1 HP Gigabit switch (servers, VPN router are connected to it)
- 2 Switches (HP and Accton) both linked to the gigabit switch and where all my clients are connected.

No trunk link and vlan are defined on my switches.

Cisco Routers :: SRP527 Losing Internet Access?

Oct 16, 2011

I have noticed that I have to reset the power on my srp527 more and more often, at first I thought it may be a glitch with my service provider but this is now happening more and more regularly. The internet just goes off, the network still exists and all the lights remain on (both adsl lights stay on) all the computers on the network (3 computers) cannot access anything on the net. A simple power off/on of the router restores everything but surely you do not need to do this everyday?

Cisco :: SG500-52P-K9-V01 Switch SNMP Port Control

Mar 13, 2013

I'm trying to disable/enable ports via snmp v2 on a Cisco SG500-52P-K9-V01 switch.  The communties are setup properly and I even have successful snmpset commands which when queried display that the action was complete.  The issue is that when I disable the port via snmp the device on that port does not drop offline.  This is a PoE port with a device powered over PoE so I'd expect the port to disable but also the PoE to turn the device off - neither happens.

Any experience with port management on this device?  I also noticed the interface IDs (for port 1 for discussion) are 1, 101, 201 etc.  I've tried setting on 1 and 101 only but the results have been the same and what were mentioned above.

Cisco :: Configure SNMP Traps For Port 80 On ASA 5510?

Jan 30, 2012

Is there a way to send an SNMP trap form the ASA when port 80 is trying to be accessed??

We use the ASA5510 and also use ScanSafe Web Security. Web Security is great but we find ourselves worrying if user has edited their Browser connection settings to remove the proxy settings that we push down using Group Policy. We also cut off the users ability to make changes to those settings but it interferes when I need to troubleshoot a special program that cant use a proxy server. It just makes it harder for me. The other thing is that Group Policy only works for IE. Google Chrome will inherit the system settings in IE.  So we have Safari and Firefox as well as a lot of others to worry about not getting the configuration. There is also debate about limitting the use of anything but IE and FireFox.

Without laying down the law and getting all sorts of hate mail and death threats I would like to run ScanSafe in such a way as to make sure each user receives the Group Policy settings and that is all.

I would now like to just set up an SNMP trap on the ASA for ANY traffic that is trying to get to port 80. Either get in in my syslog server or have the asa email me directly. Scansafe sends the Internet traffic out on 8080 to the Proxy towers.

I could block port 80 outbound but again, I limit my ability to troubleshoot on the fly. I would have to break this every time I need to troubleshoot.

Cisco Switches :: SG300 Port Counters Via SNMP / Do They Work

May 24, 2013

I've got an SG300-10 connected back to back (trunked) with a Cisco 3560X switch, across a fibre link and am seeing some big inconsistencies in terms of unicast data transferred across the ports between them.

During a night time window of 4am - 6am I run backups which involves a large copy of files, that almost saturates a GigE link - we can see from the 3560X end that the link is running at a bit over 800MBit/sec of throughput, sustained.  The duration of this transfer is consistent with the size of the files being transferred (ie just over an hour, and is what I'd expect for a data transfer of about that amount).  Back-of-the-envelope calculations indicate that the 3560X is measuring this data throughput correctly.

However on the SG300 end of the link, which is also being polled by the same application (Cacti), I'm observing spikey counts of only around 20MBit/sec during that window.  These counters are very obviously incorrect - there's a huge amount more data moving across the port than that.  The incorrect calculations are showing on both the trunk port out of the SG300 (uplink) as well as the interface where the NAS is connected in (which is an access port).

Cacti is polling the OID:  .1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.16.57  which translates to IF-MIB::ifOutOctets.57 = Counter32.I'm running version 1.3.0.62 but this problem is not new to this release - previous releases and 1.2 based releases also had this problem.

It looks like multicast traffic may be being counted correctly (that's only a suspicion though), however what I am certain of is that there is a very large discrepancy with the unicast traffic counts.Is this OID the correct one to be using for this switch?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Cannot Find Port Number From MAC Address Using SNMP With 3725

Dec 2, 2012

I'm developing a project where I use the SNMP protocol to discover the network. By discovering the network I mean go through all the routers and switches and retrieve the IP routing table from routers and the forwarding table from switches. With the routers I have no problem. For the switches I need to know for each port the MAC addresses and the Vlans. Basically it's use SNMP to find a port number from a MAC address. To do that i followed this tutorial: [URL]

The problem is that I'm using a Cisco 3725 Router with IOS 12.4 (21) and a NM-16ESW module to work as a Switch and when I use the OID .1.3.6.1.2.1.17 corresponding to the BRIDGE-MIB as it follows:

snmpwalk -v2c -c myrouter 10.1.1.5 .1.3.6.1.2.1.17

it returns:
SNMPv2-SMI::mib-2.17.1.1.0 = Hex-STRING: 00 00 00 00 00 00
SNMPv2-SMI::mib-2.17.1.2.0 = INTEGER: 0
SNMPv2-SMI::mib-2.17.1.3.0 = INTEGER: 4

From this I guess there's no information on the router about Vlans or anything. Other thing is that when I use community string indexing it returns a timeout. My theory is that this version doesn't support indexing but I don't know.

how can I get the Port Number from a MAC address from this "switch" (it's a router working as a switch) using SNMP?

Cisco VPN :: Configure Setup With 2 Srp527 At Office And Home

Sep 2, 2012

I have recently managed to configure a setup where I have 2 srp527's one at office one at home.Have 1 fixed IP at the office and 1 fixed ip at home.I have configured the srp at work to be a vpn server and have configured the group and 2 user profiles. This allows me to have 2 concurrent sessions over the vpn to my office from desktop and laptop at the same time. Connections fire up perfectly no problems.From the desktop, I connect using vpn client with user profile 1 Once connected, I then connect to my workstation machine at the office using remote desktop.This gets me super fast access to office files and large spreadsheets without downloading the whole file over the vpn and is working perfectly.

If I then additionally connect from the laptop using the vpn client with user profile 2 the remote desktop connection drops.Disconnect the laptop connection, remote desktop comes back.Have isolated this to being 2 connections arriving at the srp at the office from the same external ip. If I connect my laptop to my phone as a hotspot rather than using my home LAN, both connections are made and remote desktop has no interruptions. Is there a way I can overcome this through re-configuration of the srp at the office or is this a limitation with the srp?

Cisco Routers :: RV180 - Incorrect SNMP Interface Counters

Sep 7, 2012

I am attempting to monitor bandwidth utilization of the WAN port for the RV180 via SNMP and I am getting strange results.  If a 256MB file is transferred from a remote server (without compression), the ifInOctets counter doesn't increment by anything resembling 256MB:

$ snmpget -v2c -c  public 192.168.1.1 IF-MIB::ifInOctets.5  IF-MIB::ifOutOctets.5
IF-MIB::ifInOctets.5 = Counter32: 365402138
IF-MIB::ifOutOctets.5 = Counter32: 32610053

[Code].....

I'm reasonably certain that the .5 interface is the WAN port based on the value of ipAdEntIfIndex.X.X.X.X, but even if that were not the case, none of the other interfaces increment by a value close to the amount of data transfered.  SNMP monitoring of a WAP121 on the same subnet returns expected results.  I can only assume that SNMP on the RV180 is completely broken.

The router has the latest firmware available (1.0.1.9).  There is only one network connection and the RV180 is the default gateway for all internal hosts.

Cisco Routers :: WAN Port On SRP521W

Mar 14, 2011

We've come across an issue whereby the WAN port fails to light up with an Adtran Total Access 832 (via bonded SHDSL) unit.

Eventually the WAN port does light up after connecting and disconnecting it several times with the ethernet cable. However as a test I power cycled the router with the WAN cable disconnected and had a strange issue where the WAN light would constantly flash and show up in the web gui as being connected when in fact the Adtran Unit showed the device was not connected at all.

This is the second Cisco SRP521W router in place as the original one disconnects overnight without any load and a power cycle would fix the issue, but this replacement router disconnects during business hours (even worse for the customer) and power cycling does not bring it back online. We've adjusted the WAN port to 10MB Full on both devices and hope that it stays up. I am wondering if any has had a similar experience?  Would this be a behaviour of a faulty unit or may it not be compatible with the Adtran Total Access 832 (via bonded SHDSL) unit perhaps?

Cisco Routers :: RV042G Can't Forward SSL Port 443

Aug 26, 2012

Recently setting up a RV042G for my SOHO. Everything seems to be fine except for SSL port forwarding. I know the router's external static IP is reachable because I test it out with remote management functionality from an external IP. Port forwarding also works correctly because I have other behind the router servers in both UDP and TCP working flawlessly. PPTP VPN also works corrrectly. What I can't get it to run is an Apache server. Looks to me RV042G kind of drop all SSL or HTTP ports from the WAN side.

Configuration:

- 4 port forward rule under "Setup/forwarding" for 80/8080/443 and 8443 all to the webserver with a static IP.

- Firewall page I have Firewall, SPI, DoS enabled.

- Added a firewall rules to allow all HTTP and  HTTPS traffic from WAN1 to the webserver static IP.

- Toggle Block WAN Request, HTTPS and multicast does not affect the result.

- Toggle and mapping the remote management port to other port beside 443  does not affect the result.

The same setup will works corretly under my old Netgear FVS router. Am I missing something in RV042G setup?

Cisco Routers :: RV042 Can't Open Any Port

Jan 17, 2012

I have a RV042 Dual Wan. Two internets balanced wow! who would've thought that the headaches were waiting patiently right down the corner.

I was working with a 2wire Gateway that came with my ISP. I was able to open the ports in order to have public access for my students and teachers to upload their work. All I had to do was to allow my server ip address to have access to different ports blocked by the ISP. I used [URL]

I bought the RV042 for various reasons like excellent content blocking, load balancing, quick vpn, among other. But I just can't open the port 80 while having having my two ISP connected with load balancing, not even while having only one modem connected.

I have resolved many issues using the protocol binding. I have tried everthing. I just don't undertand something.

Whenever I connect my server to my old router, "www.canyouseeme.org" tells me that my port 80 is open. Whenever I connect my servet to the RV042-DW, my port appears closed.

So it's not any OS issues.

I've tried:

- To forward the TCP 80~80 port to my server static ip address... but failed

- To enable UPnP function with the same port... but failed

- To configure the port triggering with the same port.. but failed.

- To disable the firewall.. but failed.

- To use transparent bridge in the WAN1 with my 2wire Gateway... but failed

- To set up an account in DNS.ORG already had one, everythings is in green.. but failed.

- To change the configuration in my old 2Wire Gateway router to allow a DMZ zone so all ports are public... but failed.

- To assign RV042 router ip address in my old 2Wire allowing that specific address to allow certain ports to be public... but failed.

I have the  Firmware v4.0.4.02 from DEC/11

Cisco Routers :: Lock LAN IP To One WAN Port On RV042?

Jun 24, 2012

I'd like to use load balancing with the RV042, but I have some devices that don't react well to not always using the same outgoing port (like a credit card machine, for instance). Is it possible for me to create some "rule" with the RV042 that an internal IP address will use a certain WAN port? And if so, when that WAN port goes down will the RV042 fail-over to the other active WAN port? I was able to do this with a Xincom XC-OPG502 (which is being replaced with the RV042).
