Nov 16, 2011it would be possible to configure a White list on the SRP500 URL filter. In other words the customer wants to specify allowed URL's and all other URL's must be blocked.

View 1 RepliesWe have a wifi router RV220W and we need to filter the mac address. The problem is that the number of the "allowed" devices is around 50 (not all connected at the same time), but the maximum number of mac address which can be listed in this router for each VLAN is 20, so for the moment we set 3 VLAN, each one with a different mac adderss list. This is very awkward because the area to be covered by the wifi network is large and we need repeaters, but having 3 VLAN we should put 3 repeaters for each point. Is there any way to configure this router in order to have a single VLAN but with a mac address filter list of 3 x 20 mac address?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWe have enabled web Auth for our public access on Cisco WLC 2504. It works fine. However, if a wireless user opens his email with download pictures website, he can’t get the picture download until he accept the web policy. Our users complaint about that.
"Our application makes requests to the internet to check for and download pictures, etc. The problem is that web requests are not permitted until a user has opened his/her web browser and attempted to go somewhere (e.g. google) so that your security system can redirect them to the authorization form where they must click the “accept” button. If the user has not done this yet, any functionality in our app that requires an internet connection won’t work because the security system is blocking the requests. Unfortunately, since they’re not in a web browser at the time, it doesn’t redirect them to the authorization page - the request simply fails since a redirect doesn’t have an effect on the application like it would a web browser. My remedy would be, if possible, to whitelist web requests to the server(s) where our code and/or images will live and let them get around that restriction. Otherwise, users won’t understand why the app isn’t working unless they try and open a web browser first – which is probably not something I’d expect them to do. With this solution, you could still ensure that nobody is accessing the internet at large without accepting your terms – but they could access your website as well as our application’s functionality seamlessly."
Can we setup whitelist or something like that on WLC?

Internet(VPN) ---> Router1 (FE 0/1) ---> Router1 (FE 0/0) --> Router2 (FE 0/0) --> Router2 (FE 0/1) --> LAN

My Draytek 2710 just dies after 2 years so I was looking for something a little more reliable and noticed the spec of the SRP527W-U.I take it with only one antenna and reading a couple of past discussions, the wireless will only manage n-lite as some people call it i.e. 150Mbps, and not the full 300? Oh, and are the ports still only 100M and not Gig?I know the 547 would tick both these boxes but we are talking twice the price. How does the quality and logevity of the SRP500 series compare to the RV series (which would need an adsl modem) or the Linksys boxes?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWe are currently installing RV-042 V3 Dual WAN VPN Routers for a Customer with an HQ Office & 3 Branch Offices. The Customer recently requested to use the WEB Filter feature available in the RV-042 V3 Router to do the followng : - " Block all the HTTP Traffic Except for the company Website " We tried all the Combinations between " Access Rules " & " Content Filtering " available under the " Firewall " but we always reach the result that either to Allow ALL HTTP Tarffic to All Websites or to Block ALL HTTP Traffic.
how to Block all HTTP Traffic except for certain URL ( Using the URL Name NOT the IP Address ).
I have been asked by a client to restrict access to a number of non work related sites. Easy, blocked them using Firewall> Content Filter. Then I was asked to disable this filter for one user (the Managing Director) so he can access eBay.
I am familiar with doing this on a Netgear device, but so far my efforts with the RV082 have failed.
First I have tried using DHCP to reserve an IP address for this user, then setting 'Access Rules' so that this IP has all access all the time, but this does not appear to work.
I assume setting this IP as the DMZ would achieve what I want but it seems like overkill and not very security wise.
For some port fowarding reasons I have to change my router setting to these:Maximum Ports: 4096TCP Timeout (in seconds): 600UCP Timeout (in seconds): 120I am using a Realtek router ( Family PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet <NDIS 6.20>)This is supposed to be EXTREMELY easy but I lack any general computer knowledge whatsoever. In laymen's term, I am N00B.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have upgraded to the new RV042G to take advantage of the gigabit Ethernet speeds and to prepare for when our ISP upgrades our bandwidth. I currently use the RV042 with Protect Link enabled to filter out various categories from our network traffic. I noticed that this feature is not included with the RV042G.
Is this something Cisco will decide to add back in later? In the meantime, how to block content on the network? The basic URL and keyword filter will not meet our needs, since it is much easier to let a service such as Trend Micro manage what is blocked in the categories they offer.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a Wireless N router model F5D8236-4 v2 (01) with firmware 2.00.04 (Nov 12 2008 10:51:08) and it's not showing all issued wireless or Wired IP addresses in DHCP Client List.
They all have IP addresses and connect to the internet through the router, but in the router administration page, they're not listing. The Windows devices all show but most of the Mac devices are not, nor is my XBox 360.
My reason for investigating this is because the router seems to keep losing the Mac devices and a router reboot fixes it, but it shouldn't have this problem because all the Windows devices just seem to work.
According to the support page I have the latest available (dated November 12, 2008 which really seems kinda old to me for a Wireless N router). Are there any plans for a new firmware offering for this modem or have you already deprecated it as "legacy equipment"?
Why the below configuration does not work? BGP exchanges routes without a problem all the time the distribute list is removed from the config. When I apply the distribute list it blocks all routes, not just those intended in the prefix list.
