While working with the config I have discoved that when trying to create a IPSec VPN policy, I am limited to only one "remote network" entry. This is typically not how VPN tunnels are bulit. We generally put the following remote networks in the tunnel. How do I open a BUG ticket with Cisco and ask that they change the code?

May 9, 2012I'm running FW 1.02.01 (23) and I'm having problems with the DNS proxy. I have DNS Proxy enabled for my DHCP server on the router and I have my dns server programmed into the global dns location. I cannot ping any DNS names for my IPSEC VPN tunnel.

Apr 3, 2013I have an SRP541W with two ADSL modems attached to it. Both are running bridged mode with PPPoE connections to two different ISPs, (TPG and Telstra Business Direct). The TPG connection is far cheaper, and has a much higher download limit. Sadly, if I leave the router in "load Balance" mode for the WAN, it "prefers" the Tesltra connection because it's faster. I want downloads for movies/music, Youtube, Internet Radio, etc, to go through the TPG connection. Is it possible to do this in the router, or would I need to set up a proxy server, (or some other external device/application)?

Feb 2, 2012We purchased a Cisco 541w router for one of our customers.
The main reason was to provide them with 3g backup solution for their business.
In order for the router to recognise the 3G router the firmware was upgraded SRP540_1.02.01_023_081211_1136.
We arrived on site last night to do the install but couldn't make any changes to the already configured router. Every time we attempted add a vlan or adjust the dhcp scope the router would return "The values are invalid".
Worked at this for over 1 hour and then decided to factory reset the router to see if that would revert the router to use the original firmware.
This didn't revert to the previous firmware but we magically could now make network changes without problem.
So everything was good, we reconfigured the router, tested 3G and failed the wan1 interface back and forth and the customer was very happy.
Customer arrived onsite this morning and the router was running on 3G. Every 8 - 10 minutes it was attempting a failover between connections.
I decided to turn off the failover for the time being and investigate further but yet again i was back to "the values are invalid"
We've had to pull the router as the customer is about 2hours away and revert back to their BT router.
Found this document for another SRP model - A warning message may appear in the Basic Wireless Settings screen with the text “The values are invalid” when modifying the wireless profile. Set the SRP 521W to its default setting (CSCtd49614).

May 9, 2012I'm running FW 1.2.4 and how to setup Remote Web Access over my IPSEC vpn tunnel. I would like to be able to remotely access these routers and make configuration changes from my main office but I cannot seem to figure out how to get it to work. If I try to access the internal router IP from across the VPN, I cannot. My VPN tunnel is up and operational and I can ping various devices across the tunnel but I cannot access the web management of the router.

I cannot seem to find a way to configure either a PPTP VPN connection or QuickVPN connection for remote users. I did read something that stated that the router will only support either a site-to-site VPN or a QuickVPN connection, but not both at the same time.

Nov 19, 2012I am using an SRP541W router and i am trying to configure 2 vlans, each one to use its own Wan:Here are the dhcprules and vlans:As can be seen, each one has its own wan interface.
Vlans:As can be seen, each vlan is using its own ports and dhcp rule, so, now they should be separate.
Both Wans are connected: So now (at least as i see things) the two vlans are separate and using different Wan. But the reality is different, everything is going out using Wan1.Also in the Interface Info you can see that the 2 vlans are listed under the Wan1.
The rest of router setting are default.
Cisco Routers :: 2700 - SRP541W Disable DHCP
Apr 24, 2013We have an SRP541W on which I thought I had disabled DHCP, its turns out that in fact I haven't. After seaching again for the DHCP on/off funtion I found it under the Vlan settings (Wierd place to put it I thought).
The Router has a static ip address on the LAN side of 192.168.1.254 and is connected to a Cisco 2700 series on the WAN side. Our network DHCP is served by an SBS 2011 server hence my reason to switch off DHCP on the router. However when I select Static IP address from the Address Type in the VLAN settings and try and save the changes I get an error that is IP Address / Subnet Mask value is illegal. Great but why when the router has and IP address assigned and the subnet mask is set do I get this error. On the VLAN settings page there is no option to set an IP Address

Feb 26, 2012Unfortunately, it does not appear as if the SRP500 series will allow you to create an ipsec policy where the local or remote traffic selection is 0.0.0.0/0.0.0.0. It wants a specific network. I have a scenario where I want to send all traffic over the vpn tunnel.
Is there a workaround to this or a special way to input "ANY" as the remote network?

Jan 26, 2012I have recently installed four Cisco RV042 v3 VPN routers for a customer of ours to replace existing Nortel Contivity 1010 devices which were providing VPN tunnels from the customer's 3 branches to their headoffice. The original Nortel devices were working perfectly but the customer wanted some firewall rule changes and the Nortels were proving to be somewhat inflexible and incomprehensible in their configuration hence why they were replaced.
When installing the Cisco routers I configured the VPN settings to match the Nortel device settings so that I could swap out a branch at a time without taking the whole setup down for a day.The customer has a Unix based dumb-terminal application running on a server at headoffice that they access from their branches using terminal emulators on Windows PCs and thin client hardware devices that support vt100 terminal emulation.
Prior to installing the Cisco RV042's everything was working fine. Now they are using the RV042's they keep getting the sessions from their branches dropped. Both PC users and thin client users are losing sessions and it happens with active and idle sessions. I have checked the logs on the routers when users are disconnected and there is nothing logged at that time (other than my login)... I had thought maybe it was to do with tunnel renegotioations so I have set to phase 1 / phase 2 SA timeouts to 86400 & 28800 seconds respectively but this has had no effect. I had also seen somebody advised disabling 'SPI' in the firewall... I have tried this and it makes no difference.

Jan 15, 2013we are trying to configure one to one NAT translations on a Cisco 527W-U, but are having some problems. We are running firmware version 1.2.4 (003) on the 527.
The DSL line is assigned with a /29 address range x.x.x.64 /29?
The DSL WAN interface picks up x.x.x.65 /32 from the Radius server. We are using the default private IP address range 192.168.15.0 /24 on the LAN (VLAN1), and can get to the internet ok with a PC connected to the LAN.
However when we try to set up a public IP address in the same range (eg x.x.x.66 /29) on VLAN1 (with x.x.x.67 on the PC) it will not connect. (won't allow us to configure an address from the same range as the WAN on a new VLAN interface).
we would want to be able to do one to one NAT translations eg x.x.x.66 on the outside to 192.168.15.2 inside, x.x.x.67 outside to 192.168.15.3 inside etc, but this will not either. We have tried this on a normal IOS router (887) and it worked ok. We have also tried the same on a small DSL router / modem product similar to the 527 from another manufacturer and it worked ok on that, but we wanted it to be able to work on the 527.
We have tried the NAT bypass feature without any success, reading several other discussion forums on this website leads me to believe that one to one NAT is not supported on this equipment at the moment, or at least not at the current firmware release.
One work around would be to just assign a /32 to the WAN interface on the DSL and route statically to a different routed subnet configured on the LAN, however we were wanting to avoid having to do that if possible.

Apr 15, 2012We have 2 servers currently and are adding one next month. All need to be accessible using a different web address. We have setup a records for the 2 existing servers but cannot get NAT to work properly. We have a block of 5 IP's from FIOS. x.x.x.146-150 and have tried using 146 and 150 as the main WAN static IP with no success in getting the other address to communicate to the corresponding server.
What we need...
Server @ address 192.168.2.2 - SBS Server, standard SBS ports - currently working via port forwarding with WAN static of .150
Server @ address 192.168.2.3 - RDP, HTTP, HTTPS, and others. Some ports are the same as SBS. Trying to NAT .149 to this server.
Server @ address 192.168.2.4 - RDP, HTTP, HTTPS, and others. Some ports are the same as SBS. Trying to NAT .148 to this server.
All servers are on VLAN 1 which has a static IP of 192.168.2.1. DHCP is controlled by SBS.

Dec 7, 2011i have recently successfully configured an IPSEC VPN from a SRP541 to our Zyxel Zywall 70 (main site).
I can ping all devices on the remote Site except the Cisco-Router!I tried to disable tohefirewall and did set "Anonymous Internet Requests" to "disabled".But still no ping (and no web management) over the VPN possible.
I must admit i am totally new to Cisco devices (up to now, we used only Zyxel) - so is guess it must be something very basic i am missing.

Oct 22, 2012I used to have a DLINK router which covered my whole house with its Wifi signal. After upgrading to the SRP541W router, only the very close vicinity of the router has any acceptable level of signal to use devices. I seriously need to improve WIFI range to accomodate my small business. I asked the Live chat technician and the answer was "This device does not support external antennae" and then silence. Okay it is not supported but what I am looking for is a solution, not a dead end.
For example, is there a cisco repeater/extender that I could deploy that works with the SRP541W router? Any experience adding one long cable and putting one antenna at a different location of the house?

Apr 15, 2013I am new to VLANs although I generally understand the concept. I have a small office with 25 desktop/laptops and 15 VoIP phones connected with a SG200-50 switch and on Port 1 I have the Cisco SRP541W router for DHCP and Internet access. My goal is simple: 1) Segregate the VoIP phones (voice) from the computers (data) and 2) Prioritize the VoIP phones traffic.
I believe this can be accomplished by setting up a second VLAN and maybe a third (if the default should not be used) and then identifying those ports as Voice VLAN ports. I guess I just need to know how to flag each interface and each port so that they all can talk to the router on Port 1 yet the voice and data will be in different broadcast domains. Also, do I need a management VLAN??
