Cisco Switches :: Cannot Create LAG On SG 300-20
Oct 3, 2011
I need to create a LAG consisting of 4 ports on my SG 300-20.
When I go to create the ports via Port Management - Link Aggregation - LAG Management - LAG1 - Edit and move ports 5,6,13,14 over as LAG Members - Click apply I get Port gi5 belongs to a VLAN. If I try to add them individually I get the same error, i.e. port gi6 belongs to a VLAN, port gi13 belongs to a VLAN, etc..
how to get these ports out of a VLAN?

On our HP switches we have an 'Outside' VLAN where any device connected to these VLAN ports can use the ISP's 'outside' IP addressing for direct Internet access to bypass our firewall. We use this for videoconferencing devices.What is the correct way to do this on a Cisco SF-300-48P??Presently I have ports 1-4 in vlan 50 Outside as 'untagged,' and the same ports as 'forbidden' in vlan 1 Default. Is this the correct configuration?? In HP switches these ports in vlan 1 Default would be configured 'No' and 'untagged' in vlan 50 Outside.Tried talking to Cisco but their phone support is not working.

I have a brand new SG500-28P sitting on my desk.
The swtich is configured and going to operate in L3 mode. All ports are still assigned to the default VLAN ID 1. I have created several new VLAN's. Once I configure and aplly an IP Interface to a certain VLAN the swtich becomes inaccessable right away. I am pretty sure I am not pulling my own VLAN under my connection. Every port is inaccessable. I have to pull the power plug and restart the swtich with its saved configuration. Even when I add another IP interface to the default VLAN 1, same issue. I have tried lot's of things, but can't get it to work properly. I have just upgraded to the latest firmware.
I have configured dozens of SG300 swtiches which is very easy. This one does not work with me.

When it comes to fiber optics my knowledge is very limited. All I know is that they can carry data at high bandwidth for a long range at blazing speeds etc.My boss has asked me to link several buildings to the network and I am led to believe that joining them through fiber optics to be best since we are expecting a lot of data traffic between.I have done the normal RJ-45 networking with Gigabit networking in my organisation but need your assistance on how to join each of the buildings through fibre optics.So far this is my plan.Draw up the fiber optic lines from the main building to each building.All the buildings have Gigabit Cat6e cabling and network in each.I am planning on using a single mode media converter to convert the end of the fibre optic to the normal RJ45 connector and plug it to each switch at each of the ends of the fiber optic cable .Am I going in the correct direction?I don't even know the gadgematics required except for the cables them selves, crimping tools, the media converter. There is about 300-400 metres in between of each building from the main building.Also, I believe that we need to create cross over cables as in the normal way we do in connecting 2 switches. Your input is very valuable to me.

I used two sf-300 switch and create 4 vlans and intervlan routing is working fine.
Port 1 - 10 -------------> Vlan 1
Port 2 -20----------------> Vlan 2
Port 3 - 30------------------> Vlan 3
Port 4 - 40--------------------> Vlan 4
giga1 -----------------> connected to router (This router used for intervlan routing).
SF-300 Port 1 is connected to Internet Modem. This modem worked as dhcp server also for vlan 1, my problem is that when vlan 1 is not communicate to vlan2,3,4 and 2,3,4 are not communicating.
How i can communicate vlan 1 to 2,3,4 vlan.
how i can connect the modem in switch? Access port or Trunk port ( Presently available in vlan 1 Access port)Any route i need to make? sf-300 or modem or router?

I have a router on which I would like to create a port channel that spans two different Nexus 2248TP switches, and then create a couple subinterfaces on the router's po interface. I've done this successfully on my primary router, but the config doesn't seem to work on the backup router. The primary is running IOS 15, while the backup is running 12.4.25d advanced IP. I do see the trunk come up from the switch side, and my router subinterfaces and po interface show up, however I'm not able to get anywhere from the router. It's not even able to reach other hosts on the same network. As soon as I remove the port channel config and use the physical interface and assign the same address used on the port channel interface, everything works as expected and I have connectivity.
interface Port-channel21
no ip address
hold-queue 150 in
!
interface Port-channel21.248
encapsulation dot1Q 248 native
ip address 100.100.100.1 255.255.255.0

I'm baffled by a lot of new features of LMS4.2 and seem lost where to start looking.Our client needs to periodically make changes to switches to change their port settings.They have specific descriptions with a certain string. Let's say the description say "Cisco phone".The task is to create either template or ad-hoc Netconfig job that will send changes only to those switchports.

We currently run dual ASA 5510's in A/S config on our main campus. We would like to create a VPN tunnel to a branch campus. Trying to decide between a 5505/5510/5512x, We would like to extend many of the capabilities of our network to the branch campus which will be 20-50 users on a 50mb/10mb internet connection.
Domain login
System Center workstation management
Cisco WCS
Shoretel voip
(Cisco NAC?)
Several different VLANs for wireless guest, student traffic, staff traffic, voip traffic, etc. Which device would be best and should we get the security plus license with it?

We are about to move our IT rack to a data centre and will be adding a new Layer 3 (Catalyst 3560) switch beyond our ASA 5510 which will be providing our existing WAN plus another SVI which will be carrying our HSRP range.
I have never configured a switch to use two SVI's before and can't seem to find the relevant docs online.

i need to design a site-to-site VPN and VPN for remote users. I have attach a drawing, need to know if this is good setup. Mostly my concern is security. Im using ASA5520 for edge firewall and Linux firewalls are for additional security.I have to create 5 site-to-site VPN using IPSEC and 5 remote VPN clients. Site-to-site VPN are for trusted Office and remote VPN clients are only for our staff use.
From the diagram ASA5520 is configured as followed
outside interface is set to security 0 and connected to boder router to internet, inside interface is set to security 100 which is connected to a linux firewall which then goes to our internal lan.DMZ interface is set to security 50 which is connected to DMZ segment ,I decided to use the 4th interface for all VPNs which is set to security 100, and for this 4th interface i have created two sub interfaces vlan 400 (for site-tosite VPN) and vlan 500 (for remote access VPN). I did this because i have to use two separate linux firewall box. Linux firewall box for Site to Site VPN is configured with NAT but Linux firewall box for remote access VPN users are configured without NAT. I also want to know do i need to create a CA server or can i use pre-shared key with XAuth for remote access VPN users?

So ports 1-16 in Vlan 192.168.1.1/25
So ports 17-32 in Vlan 192.168.2.1/25
