Apr 12, 2012Using the new SUP-2T, need to clarify one query. If we are using the new SUP-2T in VSS mode, will the new ASA service module and NAM-3 are supported? From Cisco site, ASA module FAQ:
Q. Will the ASA Services Module support the Cisco Catalyst Virtual Switching System (VSS) at FCS?
A. Yes, depending on which supervisor you use. The ASA Services Module supports VSS either as a single firewall or as a failover pair of firewalls, when used with the Supervisor 720-10G (VS-S720-10G-3C and VS-S720-10G-3CXL). Transparent and multi- context modes also work with the VSS in this configuration. However, though the SUP 720-3B (WS-SUP720-3B and WS-SUP720-3BXL) is supported by the ASA Services Module, it is not capable of supporting the VSS. No reference to Supervisor-2T.

We also need to include an ASA service module on the design, however the budget is not enough to buy two asa service modules. So i want to know if is possible run a VSS cluster, whit only one ASA service Module. and also i would like know what happens if the single ASA service module fails? can the switch cluster continue operating just as if there is not a firewall installed?

I can access the ACNS with this config. The issue is that it will not cache anything when I enable WCCP on both ends. I am unable to set the gateway to the IP (even when static) to the WAN interface IP with the error Network Unreachable by content engine. If I address it within the 192.168.2.X network and gateway to 2.1, it locks up when cache is enabled. 192.168.0.5 (the external wan int) is unreachable as a gateway.
I've tried the unnumbered ip on the internal interface but then the service module won't accept an IP stating that the router side must have an IP set.
I had WCCP attempting to cache but timing out on everything without caching a thing. I want/need to understand the IP routing before I get ahead of myself.

Feb 14, 2013I have a 2921 router with 1 etherswitch module installed. I haven't done it before and was trying to change the baud rate to 115200 for installing an IOS on the etherswitch module which had been deleted. I ended up "unsetting" the baud rate on the etherswitch and rebooted. Now, when I try to session into the etherswitch, its opens the connection but I can no longer see any text on the screen. Im using Teraterm. I've tried different baud rate settings for my serial port in TeraTerm but still cant see any text on the screen. I dont know of any commands from the router prompt. Any suggestions to fix this? If can start seeing the text, then I can probably configure and set up the etherswitch module.

Jul 4, 2012We are in the process of switching our infrastructure of our routing/firewalls/vpns over to cisco. We are switching our first location and one of the issues I'm struggling with is windows authentication pass-through for internally hosted web pages. Meaning, user inside our network has the 2921 as their default gateway, they try to access a web page that is hosted on the internal network but is secured with windows authentication. In the past, because they are logged into the domain internally, the website authenticates and loads. After switching to the Cisco, it asks for a password even though they are logged in.
Because its the web server that actually authenticates I'm not sure why the router isn't allowing that to happen, but I can't think of anything else that could be causing this behavior.
Cisco :: Wrong IOS On A Switch Service Module?
Mar 11, 2013I am having issues (nothing new there) I have a bad IOS on a switch module, and the config is set to boot to that IOS, and as such I get a nasty boot loop, I am trying to figure out how to get into rommon but all the documentation I can find for this just says go into rommon and never tells me how to get there on a switch module that thinks it has a good IOS. (The IOS is for our normal service module but this one is an odd-ball switch)

Jun 22, 2012We have remote office where we have 2921 router with 6 layer 2 switches. We have few servers which need to be in specific vlan.
2921 router does not have switching engine we are using this to support VOIP.
So on 2921 router i created 6 sub interfaces for each vlan and assign them to their specfic vlans. Then I have trunk connection to switch 1. Now switch 1 connects to all other switches in the network. As our company design all layer 2 switches should be transparent mode. i tested them i can ping from one switch to all other switches.
Router vtp mode i set to transparent mode and from all switches i can ping the router sub interfaces.

I have tried media rj-45 and media sfp which have also not worked. The other end of this link is ethernet handoff. What is it that I have to do for the link to come up? If I change the connection to gi0/2, I think that will work because I see this for gi0/2:

Jul 12, 2012I have a need to capture some traffic but my core 6513's are already using the limit of 2 span sessions. I can't edit any of the sessions either because I want to source traffic from vlans and you can only do one or the other. Is using a VACL with 'switchport capture' on the destination interface an option ? E.g. I want to source traffic from vlan 10,20,30,40 and send the all to interface Gi10/10 ? Is there any caveats ? I dont need to be too granular with the ACL's but just capture all traffic in those vlans.

Apr 20, 2012I am having trouble with my Cisco SG300 switch big time. I have two servers with IP addresses 10.17.0.11 and 10.17.0.29 sitting on the same switch which is a Cisco SG300. I initiate a file transfer from 10.17.0.11 to 10.17.0.29. I could see lots of Dup Acks and retransmissions which means something is wrong in the connection. Further, I could see the session initiation a bit bizarre. I could see two SYN packets sent from 10.17.0.11 to 10.17.0.29 and also two SYN ACK packets returned by 10.17.0.29. The switch forms part of a network but since both the servers are sitting on the same switch I suppose the rest of the network doesn't come into play when one server talks to the other.
See also the number of Dup Acks and retransmissions. The two switch ports connecting the servers have speed and duplex set to auto negotiate, flow control is enabled. What could cause this sort of problem?Could it be any setting on the switch or the servers' NICs?Or could it be a bad switch that causes this?

I have a 2921 configured and it is connecting to an HP non managed non VLAN switch and I cant get any traffic to pass from my computer to the router (pings or anything). Here are my vlans 1-default, 2-management, 192-data, 92-voice, i believe its running rapid spanning tree protocol. Do i have to take off encapsulation on my data vlan to get it to work or make the data vlan default vlan for everything. I am lost as to why this is not working.
