May I know why my 2960S-48TS-L takes 10 minutes to boot and start, some just take 1 minute, but one of them take up to 10 minutes, but after that it works fine, why?
View 2 RepliesI have a brand new 2960S-48TS-L, plain vanilla with no extra module/boards etc. It boots up ok (the installed version is 12.2 (55) SE5) but then constantly cycles the following error, and doesn't accept any input whatsoever. After 5-10 minutes of cycling the error, the switch reloads and starts the process again.
PCIE0: link is NOT up.

after upgrading IOS image to V15 on four 2960S switches: Should I make the boot loader image to match the IOS version?I never thought about this while upgrading IOS image unless there is boot issue. I googled for answer but no luck there...
I checked download section on Cisco.com for C2960S-48FPS-L switch and there is simply no boot loader image..The running boot loader is C2960S-HBOOT-M Version 12.2(55r)SEThe running IOS is: 15.0 (2) SE2.
I would like to know if Catalyst WS-C3750G-48TS-E recognizes and understand Cisco VSS ( Virtual Switching System) . Is there a List available which tells us which Old Catalyst Switches or current switches understand Cisco VSS?
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy wireless connection takes about 5 minutes to actually work once I reboot my windows computer. Once I start it, the wireless indicator in the bottom right corner of the screen shows that it is loading, but then freezes and doesn't let me use most applications on my computer. Then all of a sudden it will so a wireless signal and connection and everything works just fine. On the other hand, when I use the function key on my keyboard that turns off the wireless card before I restart my computer, the wireless stays off when I reboot. Then I turn it back on using the function keys and my wireless will connect automatically. Why is it that the wireless card/connection won't start up quickly if I just leave it on like people always do normally? Why is it that I have to toggle it on/off all the time for it to work connect quickly?

The question is: Will the new SKU works together in a stack with the old ones? Will there be no changes on the type of stacking cable to be used?
I've got two two 3560s switchs, (WS-C3560G-48TS-S) that I'm trying to connect to each other using the GB ports over Fibre. We purchased the following GBICs, SFP 1000SX Transceiver and when we put them in the port it shows (err-disabled). Our network administrator restricts all our new 1Gb switches to only 100Mb, to which he claims it will increase overall performance. Preventing devices from bottlenecking the network. (that is, only restricting the main switch ports, not the uplinks)For example we have a new building with 2x WS-C2960S-48TS-L connected together with FlexJack and then a 1Gb Fiber connection back to our core switch.
This building is on it's own subnet and there is little broadcast traffic. I don't see the point other than it hinders the potential speed we could use. Labs are set up in this building and 1Gb is MUCH faster when it comes to imaging and software deployment.
I've inherited a 7206VXR router and it takes very long to boot. It outputs READonly ROMMON initialized to the console and 14 minutes later it continues the boot process. After 17+ minutes the boot is complete with the correct full image. The processing engine I have is the NPE-G1 and I'm looking for an upgradeable ROMMON image or a reason why the boot is taking this long.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have recently split the voice vlan (10) from the data network (1), and am wondering why my catalysts and router do not require an interface Vlan10 statement. In the past I used OpenBSD boxes to do the routing, and I first needed to configure vlan 10 on the interface before I could get inter-vlan communication to work. With these Cisco devices it works, and I am wondering if it is because of VTP, for the fact that the ports maybe just pass all traffic, or is there some other explanation? Below is the setup, and firmware is up-to-date on all of the devices.
When I plug a phone into the POE SGE, the phone turns on, obtains an address on the proper subnet, and conversations are clear (whereas without the ip nat inside on the new subnet the calls had a lot of static). Possibly the reason that it works is because the phones properly create the tcp/ip packet, and it hops over the trunks and creates the states so that traffic routes back properly. I will install wireshark to see exactly what is going on, but is there a simple explanation that I am overlooking?

and on 48FPS-L I run "mls qos map cos-dscp..."on 24TS-S I cannot run it. there is no such command. there is just "mls qos rewrite..." and "mls qos srr-queue..." variants.
I thought that one image give the same set of commands...?

How should I treat uplinks between access switchs and core/distribution? I have a lot of doubts regarding queueing, because all the info I had read its for another model/image.

I have two 4506 switches in my organization. Recently the office was relocated and when both the switches were booted they ignored the startup config.The config-reg was set to 0x2101. No boot system command was configured.So I changed the config-reg of SW1 to 0x2102 and gave boot system command as stated below.When reloaded the switch booted to ROMMON and I had to manually boot the IOS.I want them to boot normally with IOS.Config of SW2 is not changed since relocation. View 12 Replies View RelatedI'm having some trouble with a 4510 Switch Line Card. I need some recomendations for troubleshooting it.We have some PoE phones connected to the card number 3. When those phones were restarted, they did not go up again. In order to discard wiring issues, we connected the phone directly to the card 3, and the phone did not go up. If the phone is connected to a different card, it goes up correctly.
Additionally, to restore the service, these phones were migrated to other cards, but when we disconnect the equipment, ports in line card 3 remain in an up / up state (and nothing is connected to those ports!!), and only reflect the actual state after restarting the port.What steps could I do in order to troubleshoot this issue?. What should I look for, or how do I discriminate the problem? Might it be a hardware issue, a PoE issue?
When using dynamic configuration tools, if I choose 2960 (not 2960s), I have the option to choose RPS2300 as redundant power, but when I choose 2960s, I cannot choose RPS2300. However, in a document describe both 2960 and 2960s, it said that RPS2300 can be used. Does RPS2300 support 2960S?
