Mar 24, 2013I have a situation where I have a 3750-X stack bought with the 350w power supplies. A "show Inv" lists model as "WS-C3750X-48T-L". I now need to suport POE in that space. Is it possible to add in a 1100W power supply and have the switch support POE or is the chassis different and cannot support POE, no matter what PS is installed?

Jan 6, 2013Have a small stack of two 3750 routers. Get the following error message every few secounds:
%STACKMGR-4-STACK_LINK_CHANGE: Stack Port 1 Switch 1 has changed to state DOWN
%STACKMGR-4-STACK_LINK_CHANGE: Stack Port 1 Switch 1 has changed to state UP
Now I replaced the stacking cables but no joy. It was ok for an hr or so but then the error messages popped up again. Also random links on this stack back to access layer user switches have been going up and down randomly. So I have decided to take the next step and upgrade the IOS.
Although when I try and copy a new IOS I get the following error:
%Error writing flash:/c3750-ipservicesk9-mz.122-55.SE6.bin (No space left on device)
Seems this image is 130MB while the image that is currently on it is 74MB and free space is 54MB. How do I get the image onto the router? If I delete the current image from flash will that cause the router to stop functioning?
Also I noticed there seems to be more than one flash directory. See below:
copy tftp: ?
flash1: Copy to flash1: file system
flash2: Copy to flash2: file system
flash: Copy to flash: file system
null: Copy to null: file system
nvram: Copy to nvram: file system
running-config Update (merge with) current system configuration
startup-config Copy to startup configuration

The current router image seems to be in flash1 and flash 2 also. Could I delete the image from flash1. Upload it there and then boot the router from flash1?

As far as i understand all the stacked switches should have the same IOS, i may be wrong. The switches have the following model numbers and SW images;

Dec 6, 2011I recently added a 3750X-24P-L into a stack of 3750V2 switches. I did so by getting the temporary upgrade license from LAN Base to IP Services; I added the switch no problem. I now have the permanent license and I was wondering if I could install the permanent license without having to remove the switch from the stack. I tried a license install but that failed. The switch is not currently the master but I figured I might promote it and then try the install.

Apr 1, 2013I want to run rolling-stack upgrades on several stacks containing Catalyst 3750X-switches. I have done as follows: Configured the redundant uplinks as active and stand-by.Started to upgrade by using archive download-sw /rolling-stack-upgrade /overwrite /reload The upgrade starts as expected BUT switch number 2 in the stack is reloaded BEFORE switch 1 is finnished, the result is of course downtime for the stack. The documentation says something about the command "boot time", but what is this command doing? The default seems to be 7 minutes, it this parameter the time the upgrade-process waits before booting the next switch in the stack? I would expect that switch number 2 is reloaded when switch 1 is up again after reload, and not after an absolute number of minutes, is the rolling-stack-upgrade not working this way ?

Nov 13, 2011I have read that the 3750-X supports upgrading with minimal traffic lost with RSU feature, on the configuration guide the scnario is with the end user connected to the 3750-X stack with LACP and the uplinks to the network running STP, one uplink is forwarding and the other is blocked. I have the same scenario but for the network uplink i also have LACP. When i tried to configured the RU stanby one of the uplink LACP the switch gives an error.

May 7, 2013I want to upgrade IOS for my production core 3750 switch. Below is Show version/fash output. I have IOS image "c3750-ipservicesk9-mz.122-55.SE7", need to confirm below concerns:-
1-As this is stackable switch do i need to upgrade on all Switch..i can see there are 3 flash while doing show flash?
2-Is above IOS image support with my switch? do i able to enable ssh?
3-is flash memory is enough to succefully upgrade IOS?
4-Any other point which i should keep in mind before upgrading..any special feature which this IOS wont support.

May 9, 2012I have a stack of 4 Cisco Switch 3750 (1 x WS-C3750G-24T, 2 x WS-C3750-48P and 1 x WS-C3750V2-48PS) and I want to do an firmware upgrade of this stack. Actually, all the 4 switches are at the firmware version 12.2(50) SE1 "IPBase" and I want to upgrade them to 12.2(55)SE5 IPBase. According to the release notes, all the switches in my stack are supported.
To upgrade the firmware, I use the command "archive download-sw /imageonly /overwrite tftp://IP_Address/c3750-ipbaselmk9-tar.122-55.SE5.tar" The firmware gets uploaded correctly but then I get the error message "There is insufficient space in flash: to install the required image. Clean up some old images, and try again."
When I do a "show flash", I see that the switch has 5650944 bytes free of 15998976 bytes.
How can i upgrade my switches? Is there an error in my command which I use? Do I need to add an other option?
The problem is, the switches are located in a branch office and there is no direct access to them. Everything must be done remotely.

Mar 13, 2013I have a brand new 2960S-48TS-L, plain vanilla with no extra module/boards etc. It boots up ok (the installed version is 12.2 (55) SE5) but then constantly cycles the following error, and doesn't accept any input whatsoever. After 5-10 minutes of cycling the error, the switch reloads and starts the process again.

Jul 8, 2012Our network administrator restricts all our new 1Gb switches to only 100Mb, to which he claims it will increase overall performance. Preventing devices from bottlenecking the network. (that is, only restricting the main switch ports, not the uplinks)For example we have a new building with 2x WS-C2960S-48TS-L connected together with FlexJack and then a 1Gb Fiber connection back to our core switch.
This building is on it's own subnet and there is little broadcast traffic. I don't see the point other than it hinders the potential speed we could use. Labs are set up in this building and 1Gb is MUCH faster when it comes to imaging and software deployment.

Would there be any reason why a universal image wouldn't stack correctly with other switches running the single .bin file?

May 21, 2012We have a stack of switches that is at the max number of members allowed in the stack. Problem is we are running out of port density and need to add more ports. So instead of adding a whole new stack I would rather replace 2 of the 24-port swicthes with 48-port switches.
If the two 24-port swicthes we are removing are stack members and neither of them are the stack master, I should be able to replace the 24-port switches with the 48-port switches without bringing the master offline? If the new 48-port switches are running the same IOS version as the current 24-port swicthes, they should add themselves to the stack?Would I have to tell the new 48-port swicthes what switch numbers they are replacing in order for them to be added to the stack since we are at the max number of members?Also since the 48-port swicthes are replacing 24-port switches will the master give the 48-port switches the configuration for only the 24-ports?
