I'm building a wired closet to aggregate user's connections, Im planning to have 5x 3750X stacked switches and there is a need to run EIGRP, I'm thinking to order one switch with IP service image while the rest will run IP base image, is it workable scenario and what are the drawbacks of such combination of images ?View 5 Replies View Related

I'm trying to work out if I need to order the "IP services" image for a couple of C3750-X. I need to run OSPF on these switches, but find the IOS image requirements on Cisco contradict.
At the top of the data sheet it says: • Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) in IP Base image
On the product info page it says: IP Base: Enterprise Access Layer 3 Switching, including OSPF (Open Shortest Path First) for routed access
But in lots of other places it says you need 'IP services' for OSPF.
As the IP services IOS is quite a bit more expensive I would like to avoid buying it. What image do I need to run OSPF?
I would I upgrade this from a LAN base to ip services?View 2 Replies View Related

I have been looking to find out the list of features that the IP Base IOS has for the 3750X series switch. What would be ideal is a comparable list but essentially I need to know which of the LAN Base/IP Base/IP Services has SSH functionality.View 1 Replies View Related
Full feature set for IP Base with the 3750x.I just wanted to verify that I could create a routed port, turn ip routing on, and create static routes as well as a default route. From what I can find, there shouldn't be a problem with this on the IP Base Feature Set, I just wanted to verify. Or any link for the Features of IP Base on the 3750x.View 3 Replies View Related
I am having a ws-3750x-12s-s switch . I want to upgrade it from ipbase to ip service. after installing ip service liciense file, when i gave command " show license detail" i found there 3 index . one is for ip base -active (permanent) ..2nd is for ip service-active(permanent) 3rd is again ip service but inactive( period 8weeks 2days) , then i cleared 1st one by giving command "clear ipbase" and reboot. but still 2 index .both for ipservice one is permanent-active another is inactive . so my question is how can i remove 2nd index which one is inactive and time period for 8weeks and 2days..?? becasue i don't need it. and it will make any problem in future ?View 2 Replies View Related
I have a stack of 2 x 3750X switches these are running 12.2(55)SE5. I needed to add some static IP routes and found that the ‘ip routing’ command is not supported. I came across a document that stated “On switches running the LAN base feature, static routing on VLANs is supported only with Cisco IOS Release 12.2(58)SE and later.” So I have upgraded to 12.2(58)SE2, but ‘ip routing’ is still not a valid command.
The release notes state:“On the Cisco Catalyst 3560-X and 3750-X Series, it adds support for 16 static IPv4 routes in the LAN Base image.”
I have read other posts that talk about running the ‘sdm prefer routing’ command which I have done, but I am still unable to add any routes or run the ‘ip routing’ command.

I've 3750X switch that isn't loading email. then I went to rommon mode and accidently for "format flash". after that I loaded 15.0 SE2 s/w on it using tftp server but it doesn't boot up with that image. flash had only .bin file after I loaded it from tftp server.
since it wasn't booting up, I did format flash again and thought to load image again from tftp server but now, it doesn't load image from tftp server.

Switch 2 has an interface configured in RSU Standby.Switch 3 has an interface configured in RSU active. The upgrading sequence is : Switch 2, Switch 1, Switch3.The aim of the test is to prove that there is no loss of IP connectivity throught the RSU process.During the RSU process, there are ping between all the computers.
IOS starting version : 15.0-1.SE3
IOS upgrading version (with OVERWRITE) : 15.0-1.SE3 (same version)
1rst step : Switch 2 reboot and come back master but isolated from original stack (switch 1 and 3)
2nd step : Switch 1 reboot, and come back with switch 2 into the upgrading stack.
Issue : at this step :
- Switch 1 put its interface (IP 192.168.5.254) up :
- Switch 3 has not reboot and still has its interface (IP 192.168.5.254) up
=> we have some OSPF adjencies and mac flapping issues : switch 1 and 3 are trying to mount there OSPF adjencies on the same IP. We loss our IP connectivity since step 3 is not over.
3rd step : Switch 3 reboot and come back up in the upgrading stack. The IP connectivity is back, and the RSU process is done.Is that a normal behaviour ?How can we avoid to loose IP connectivity during RSU process ?
IOS upgrade tried on the stack of 2XWS-C3750X-24T-S , Upgrade was tried to support WCCP on the platform. Current version is Cisco IOS Software, C3750E Software (C3750E-UNIVERSALK9-M), Version 12.2(58)SE1, Not able find any IP Plus ios in the site ? Only available are IP base and Universal K9 , Tried upgrading to c3750e-universalk9-tar.122-58.SE2.tar by using stack upgrade method as per document [URL]
Upgrade fails with error :
%Error opening flash:update/info (No such file or directory)
ERROR: Image is not a valid IOS image archive.
Why current ios is not supporting WCCP , I hope it is there in the featureset. ( tried "sdm prefer routing" but no success) Does c3750e-universalk9-tar.122-58.SE2.tar will give me wccp support ? What is the issue with my upgrade and how do I do a successfull upgrade ?

Due to a problem with POE+ i have tried to upgrade the IOS to Version15.0.2SE2, from 12.2.58. unfortunatly the Switch doesn't boot up anymore. It starts to decompress and install the IOS 2 Times, after the Second try it displays "unable to boot" and the switch goes in Bootloader-mode. When i look at the version i See that bootloader is still the old version 12.2.58. It seems that the bootloader doesn't geht upgraded and that's why the Switch can't Boot the new Image.View 8 Replies View Related
This feature doesn't work as advertised on the Release Notes and other documentation. After 12 hrs of lab work and a tlwo day support call to TAC, they finally came back to me that:
IOS Upgrade works well if you use the command force-reload, without force-reload, it won't work. --"of course with this command the complete stack will go down and the purpose of RSU will not serve"
Then they pointed me to a bug that I could not find in the bug tracker unless I searched by the bug ID number ?? CSCua78897
Unfortunately this bug has a closed status and is not slated to be fixed ?
Are there issues with the auto upgrade feature for 3750X stacks, either historically or currently?
Some people prefer to upgrade switch stacks manually by disconnectiong the stack cables and uprading code on each switch.
I've done the manual procedure in the past and have not tried the auto upgrade (I have the procedure for the auto upgrade).
1)For 3650X I found some contradiction in the Q&A about feature set LAN Base vs IP Base:
LAN Base: Can I do static IP routing ?
LAN Base: SVI => is this for intervlan routing ?
2)For 2960, there are 2 flavors (LAN lite and LAN BASE) Q: Can I do static routing on one of these flavors ?

I see that if I ask for 887va-sec-k9 I get an 887va with "advanced ip services" instead of the default "advanced security".
I can't see a corresponding part number for an 887va-w with advanced ip services. Is there one? Also, what would the part number be for memory to expand a va-w up to the max possible memory?
At a guess it would be the same part used to upgrade an 887va from 256 to 768, but since the part to upgrade from 256 to 512 is not the same as the part to upgrade from 512 to 768 I am not sure this is a safe guess.

I'm looking at adding a Cisco 3750-X switch running c3750e-universalk9-mz.122-55.SE1 (IP base license) into a stack of 3750-G switches running c3750-ipbasek9-mz.122-55.SE1.bin Given that the version and feature sets are the same I don't forsee any compatibility issues.
