Cisco Switching/Routing :: 3750v2 Does G0 / 1 Port Support Udld

May 31, 2012

Does g0/1 port (dual purpose port but set to use sfp) support udld? If yes, what's the command to enable it? I have it connected with a 3750v2 switch. On the switch I have udld enabled.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 3560 - UDLD After Switch Reload

Sep 12, 2010

I have the following problem with

Situation:
- 2x 3750G-12S Distribution-Switches (DS) and several 3560/2960 Access-Switches (AS)
- redundant Fiber optic uplinks between AS and DS
- Cross-Stack Etherchannel config on all uplinks
- UDLD aggressive mode configured on all uplinks

Problem:
- when I reload the DS and the switch comes up again, I've lost the connection with several (not all) AS
- looking at the AS log I found the following error message: "%UDLD-4-UDLD_PORT_DISABLED: UDLD disabled interface Gi0/1, aggressive mode failure detected"

Cause:
- in the log of the AS I don't see intf Gi0/1 go down during the reload of the DS
- this means the DS didn't shuts down all its ports during the reload
- but this also means that UDLD on AS didn't know about DS reload, and therefore didn't resets counters

Workaroud/Solution
- I'm now configuring errdisable recovery on all AS

So I'm forced to configure errdisable recovery, even if I don't want.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: C4500 - UDLD Normal / Aggressive With Multiple Neighbors

Aug 20, 2012

we're running 4 c4500 Switches at 2 sites connected to each other via Layer-2 crypto boxes and VPLS in a point-to-multipoint configuration which ist completely transparent (it's more or less like connecting them via a Hub - every switch sees the other 3 ones as neighbors). Our basic configs have udld globally enabled in aggressive mode. I wanted to disable that for the interfaces (routed ports) to the crypto boxes, because I don't want them in ErrDisabled for 5 minutes if there are connectivity problems in the VPLS-cloud (every switch also had 3 UDLD neighbors because of the P2MP configuration). In if-config mode I could do this simply with "udld port disable", but I thougt it would be better to run normal mode (not aggressive) to have the chance to use the UDLD show-commands. So I configured "udld port" for the affected interfaces.

interface GigabitEthernet1/2
udld port

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 3750v2 - Dead After Upgrade

Jul 25, 2012

In a lab environment, I have a stack of two 3750v2-48ts switches.  I upgraded the stack from 15.0(1)SE2 to 15.0(1)SE3 using archive download-sw.

Switch 1 in the stack reloaded and came back with the new image.

Switch 2 appears to be dead.  No console out put.  When power is applied, the SYST LED blinks 22 times, then stops.  I've held in the mode button for up to 60 seconds, held in mode while applying power, removed the stack cables and repeated...there's not a whole lot else I can think of to do at this point.

I've been reading the documentation for the new 3750v2 switch, and I'm wondering is the IPBase license supports FULL OSPF. The product sheet notes that it supports OSPF in the IPBase license, but then further down the page it notes that for advanced routing functions (EIGRP,OSPF) you need the IPServices license. Are there any limitations to the OSPF process on a 3750v2 with the IPBase license?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 3750v2 DHCP Snooping Not Working Dropping Packets

When I disable DHCP snooping it is working properly. DHCP snooping is configured correctly but I don't have an idea how to resolve it. [code]I tested the solution on the same kind of hardware switch and firmware and it worked out fine. What is causing the clients not to receive an IP address from the DHCP server?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 2960 Support Multiple Vlan Per Port?

May 21, 2012

We're going to be switching some of our gear from Foundry to Cisco, and were looking at the WS-C2960S-48TS-L.  We currently have 3 different VLAN's, and I wanted to have 1 uplink back to our firewall (ASA 5550) and then let the firewall do the routing between the subnets.  I realize that 1 link will carry the traffic twice then, but is that possibly with those switches to have all three vlans assigned to one port and then just let the firewall do the routing between the vlans or would I need to have 3 uplink ports back to the 5550?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 7900 - Port Configuration With IP Phone And PC On Same Port

Jan 15, 2013

We just installed a hosted VOIP system using Cisco 7900 series IP phones.  We are having a strange issue with a few computers where they pull DHCP information from our VOIP provider's DHCP server on the Internet and not our LAN DHCP server.

The switchports areconfigured as: switchport mode access

My rationale behind this is that the phones would use CDP to get their VLAN info from the providers Cisco router and the PCs would just ride on the default VLAN.  But this is not the case.  Computers randomly keep getting DHCP info from the provider's router.  Do I have to use voice vlan x and make the switchports trunks?

Cisco Switching / Routing :: 3560 - Management Port Used As Regular Port?

I have an all gigE  3560.  I don't use the management FE0 port on the back.  I was thinking to use that for a 100Mbps WAN connection.

Seems to work just fine when I plugged in an test.  But I am not routing across that link yet as I still need to setup the far end.

Is there any reason this would not work?  I would like to not burn a gig port if the max throughput of the circuit is 100Mbps.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Lose Lot Of Bandwidth Over Trunk Port (vs Access Port) 3750g

Feb 18, 2013

I have a 3750g connected to a "core" switch stack of 7 other 3750g's via 2 GigE ports in a trunk.  This is currently in a switchport mode access port- channel so only the default vlan data is sent over. Now we have a need due to physical location of these switches, to allow vlan20 (DMZ) from this 3750g to the switch stack.  I will configure a few ports on the switch stack for vlan20 and they need to be able to talk to the stand alone 3750g.To do this I will change the port channel on both endpoints to

-switchport trunk ecapsulation dot1q

-switchport mode dynamic desirable

also making the appropriate change on the interfaces belonging to this trunk.My question is, now that its a trunk port that carries multiple VLANs, how much is the bandwidth reduced on that 2gbps link?I have a very active VLAN (10) on the stand alone switch, but on the core I'm not going to be assigning VLAN 10 to any ports.  So does traffic from VLAN10 even come across the trunk (wasting bandwidth) if no ports on the core side are assigned to it?  I really just need vlan 1 and 20 (for now).

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 3825 ISR - Traffic Route From Switch Port To Router Port

Jun 5, 2013

I'm fairly new to Cisco products am in the process of developing my network knowledge on a deeper level.  I have a 3825 with a HWIC-4ESW and I'm struggling to fully understand how the two "see" each other.  I've setup a V LAN with a layer 3 address on the HWIC and added the switch ports to it.  This seemed to allow devices connected to the switch ports to talk to the built-in router ports.  I thought this was all making sense until i applied an access-list to the router port.  It's a simple ACL i'm just using for testing and the only thing it does is blocks telnet from anywhere.  I know the ACL is setup properly because if I connect a device directly to the router port i cannot telnet to the port.  However, if i connect a device to one of the switch ports, i am able to telnet to the router port successfully.

It seems that I'm missing something with how traffic flows from the switch port to the router ports and how the two "see" each other.

Does it mean that it supports VSS in the same manner as the 6500 ? The reason I'm asking this question is that I didn't find any info on the Internet about this. We would like to upgrade our network by interconnecting the 2 sites with Layer 2 redundant links (Layer 2 extension), but I'd like to use the both links in a load-balancing manner, which can be a real pain in the *** with STP. The choice is between 4500 and 3750 stackable  core switches. The 6500s are very expensive.
