Cisco Switching/Routing :: 6509 - Multiple Line Cards Down After Config

I recently changed the entire configuration on two 6509 switches, and the fibre modules on slot 7 and 8 have gone down on BOTH switches. It would be easy to say that its a hardware fault but I cannot understand how module 7 and 8 can go down on both switches. Initially I thought it maybe due to IOS bug 22-33.SXI2a.bin" so I upgraded it to s72033-advipservicesk9_wan-mz.122-18.SXF12a.bin but it still down.These are the actions I have carrried out to try resolve the issue:
- Reverted back to orginal configs but no luck
- Tried to use "power enable" command but the status light on both modules seems to turn red and then go off again.
- I have also tried to put one of the fibre modules into a different slot but no joy
- Upgraded the IOS from 22-33.SXI2a. to 122-18.SXF12a
I am sure that hardware fault cannot occur on BOTH modules 7 & 8 on BOTH switches after config change.The error in the log shows that modules "failed to bring online because of registration timer event". I understand this means that it is unable to download the image within the allocated time. [code]
I previously put this is the 'Video over IP' discussions group, which is not getting any response.I have a 6509 and need to configure QoS on gig line cards that have 1P3Q8T queue structure. I've already got the mls qos configured, and have the correct class maps built for Voice, Video, and Signalling.(I'm not doing autoqos). I have only four classes; voice, video, signalling, and default (best effort).I need to configure the commands on the individual gig ports for the appropriate bandwidths as shown below:
1. 300 VoIP G711 calls x 100kbs/call = 30mbs of priority queue DSCP = EF (46) CoS = 5 2. 150 Video conference calls x 1.5mbs/call = 225mbs DSCP = CS4 (32) CoS = 4 3. 450 Signalling x 13kps/call = 5.8mbs (round to 6mbs) DSCP = CS3 (24) CoS = 3 4. Default class is not marked DSCP & CoS = 0
I have a Cisco 4500 Sup 6 engine and I have two 48 port fiber line cards installed. When I do a show interfaces I do not see any of the Fiber cards. This is a new out of the box 4500 and I installed the Sup 6 Line card in Slot #1, And the two 48 port Fiber cards in Slots 2 and 3. Am I missing something, is there a command or set up procidure for the line cards. I just assumed they were plug and play
I have two data centres connected via a L2 DWDM, my manager wants to look into using OTV to get rid of the layer 2 broadcasting issues.
Problem is the DWDM is 1000BaseSX, which is only supported on the N7K-F132XP-15. (and the N7K-M148GS-11 but that doesn't support FCOE, so many bloody caveats). From what I can gather OTV is not supported on the N7K-F132XP-15.
Is it possible to terminate the DWDM on the F1 card & loop another port from the F1 to a port on the N7K-M148GT-11 & run OTV on the M1????
Either using VDCs or just an isolated VLAN on the F1. Is there any better way to do this? Hardware has not yet been purchased.
We need to move some line cards around on our 4510. The top slots have a 24Gbps backplane while the lower slots are limited to 6Gbps. Poor planning on our part has left us with installing a 10Gb line card in one of the bottom slots. I'd like to move a couple of the cards up top, to the bottom.
My question is simply will the switch magically preserve the configuration for those cards and change the slot number for me or will I need to reconfigure the interfaces for those cards I move?
I would like to know whether WOL is supported on a N7K with 6.x code and F2 line cards. I also would like a how to for this. If it is not supported will an ip helper address to the broadcast address of the destination vlan SVI will suffice to get it workinng. If so I can restricht the forwarded broadcast to only the wol traffic.

So, As long as the 67XX line card is using CFC, it is compatible with Sup-2T.
I also find the IOS release note indicate the 6704-10G with CFC is supported by Sup-2T, but it require 512M memory.

The bug details is not disclosed. So I further search what the default memory size of the WS-F6700-CFC is, then I found here says it is only supported by Sup720 and no memory upgrade option, which means must upgrade to DFC4, in another words, it is not compatible with Sup-2T

So my question is: whether “WS-X6724-SFP with CFC” and “WS-X6704-10G with CFC” compatible with Sup-2T without upgrading to DFC4 daughter card, and do they support in VSS-2T?
On a number of 6500 chassis it appears that linecard 3 did exist at somepoint, but was removed.Problem is that when issuing the 'show int desc' or 'show ip int brie' the ports for the still appear, and indeed same with 'show run' and 'show conf'.
Is it possible to configure the switchports on a 6500 linecard before it has been inserted?
So for example, I have a 6509 with slot 9 free. I'm going to install a 48 port line card. Is it possible to configure those 48 ports before the card is inserted?
I wanted to know that in nexus 7009, can i use mix of F2/M1/M2 series line cards ? will they work with each other ? Lets say i have F2 line card and M2 line card, will servers attached to them will communicate with each other ?
When quoting a WS-X6724-SFP line card for a Catalyst 6500:
1. If no Distributed Forwarding Card 3 (DFC3) is selected, can it be purchased at a later time as a spare part or the client needs to buy the line card with the DFC3 included from start?
2. Does each line card require a DFC3 in order to be able to perform localized forwarding decisions?
3. Does the DFC3 card is embedded in the line card physically?
I wonder are 4500-E series line cards (i.e. WS-X4648-GB-RJ45, WS-X4748-UPOE+E and WS-X4606-X2-E) supported on 4507R chassis? Datasheet says "Classic line cards may be deployed in both classic and E-Series chassis with either classic Cisco Catalyst 4500 Series supervisor engines or with the Cisco Catalyst 4500E Series Supervisor Engine." But it says nothing about E-Series line-cards being (or not) supported on classic chassis (like 4507R).
Cisco Catalyst 6509 Chassis.We have moved a line card from slot 8 to slot 6, but config remains for the line card in slot 8 and nothing is seen in slot 6.

I have a number of existing 4506 chassis type switches (the older non -E version) that I would like to roll out IP phones to. Instead of replacing the entire chassis, I would like to just replace the line cards in the switches with WS-X4548-GB-RJ45V. What or how much power supplies should I have in each switch to be able to power the 5 poe line cards (each port per line card will power an ip phone)?
Does Nexus 7K support Multiple VDCs sharing ports on a single line card. One of our cisco parnter engineers stated that cisco doenst recommend using same line card for multiple VDCs.The second VDC (Non-Default VDC) will be used four our Outside, and DMZ Segment, and to phyiscally segregate our Firewall from our Internal/Inside Core Switch without using a physical DMZ Switch.I know Cisco used the Nexus in this way in their PCI DSS 2.0 Compliance Document. If i connected the latop to brand new out of the box ASA 5505 through consloe cable and i have a config file on this laptop from other ASA5505, is there anyway i can upload that config file into startup-config of this new ASA5505 through console cable, without using TFTP or FTP?
I configured a 1841 router that connects to a DSL modem. This DSL connection is our Internet connection for vendor and IT testing. I have connectivity to the Internet using nat and have configured the router to act as a DHCP server. It seems to be working fine. I just want to configure some best practices for securing the device from the outside access. Is there some standard best practices I should be configuring?

I want to add a new phone line to a small office in a hotel. They have avaya phone system and they are currently using 6 or 7 phone lines. From the avaya wires are run to the 66 block and from there to the outlets. So i think i can connect a cable from the avaya to the 66 block and it automaticaly give an extension number, but how do i add a phone line number to that connection?
Each line card comes with dual 10Gig Ethernet X2 Optics. I am currently using int g5/1 and g6/2. I tried to connected a server to the int g5/2 and assigned the poper parameters(VLAN, speed, ...etc) but I am the int is showing down. Is there some type of limitations in using the second port of each line card?
I know there are some line cards on the 6500 that do not play well with each other when trying to setup an etherchannel using two different line cards on the same chassis. I always thought it was line cards of different type, i.e. 6400 with a 6700 but these two line cards are exactly the same model with the same code level.
1) Are the error messages below from this incompatibility between line cards and etherchannel creation? 2) How to fix if the answer to #1 is yes? 3) What line cards work with which for etherchannel creation?

If the supervisor supports a feature does that mean it is globally supported on a switch? Or do I need to check the compatibility of these line cards as to if they support these features?
I had to reset a 6509 MSFC2, using reset command on the switch. However when the msfc2 reloaded it had a different configuration than the starup-config. I have a daily backup of start-up config and it was very different from that. I had to make many changes to bring it back to normal. What now I dont get is from where did the msfc2 got this config file? and how can I avoid this from happening again... I want it to load start-up config when it loads. [code]
If I have a PI 1.2 system that has multiple interfaces configured I can upgrade to PI 1.3 and both interfaces remain and I can see both under the admin webpage under appliance interfaces. But if I do a fresh install of PI 1.3 I can only configure one interface. The commands fail from the cli to configure anything but gigabitethernet 0. Are multiple interfaces not supported in PI?
