Cisco Switching/Routing :: Setting Up DNS Forwarding In 877W Router?

Probably this is a trivial question but I have not found any response to it. What I would like is to set my cisco 877W rotuer up in order to act as a DNS server which forwards DNS queries following these simple rules:

1.- If the name is within my local domain *.ib forward them to my local DNS 172.21.238.229 and .230, and

2.- Else forward them to the chosen public domains (i.e. 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4).

I was thinking of getting another 870 series (probably an 877) router, as the more expensive wireless option is not actually required. Am I right to assume that I could simply copy the contents of my current config.txt file onto the second router?

I've created a BVI2 where I bridged dot11 0.2 and vlan2 in order to have wired and wireless clients in the same vlan.Some wired client are not reachable from the lan. Wireless clients have no pbl in reaching each other.Monitoring a MAC address that is supposed to be behind the FA2 I have noticed that it moves to vlan2 when in fact it should be behind the FA2.Of course when "show mac-address-table" says it is behind Fa2 the ping to that MAC address works whereas when the TCAM reports it is behind vlan2 it doesn't. Once the MAC address is behind the vlan2 if I clear the mac-address-table and that mac-address is still put behinf Fa2 then the pings works again, sometime I have to perform twice the clear command before the MAC address goes back to the right location.I'd like to understand why the router moves that MAC address from Fa2 to vlan2 and that's the reason for my question in the subject.I don't have any problems for port Fa0 and Fa1."Show int fa2" doesn't show any problem/errors or the likes.BTW even if I force that MAC address to be statically behind FA2 the ping works fine but then stops and if I do "show mac-add" the static entry for it is still there... so looks like there us something that overrides that static entry. If clear everything and I have the mac-address be behind Fa2 then everything starts to work again. I used Fa3 instead of Fa2 and I get the same results.

NTP server When I setup NTP server to take time from [URL] everything is working fine but as soon as I reset my router during boot I can see that router is first trying to get time before it's even connected to ATM and when it can't get time from NTP server it's removing NTP line from configuration (ntp server uk.pool.ntp.org source Dialer0 ). How I setup to wait with sync and do it once ATM connection is up and established? Or How to get IOS to leave this line and sync with NTP every 10 min)?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 877W ADSL Line Interface Not Initializing?

Is the ADSL line interface on Cisco 877W not initialising a known issue? This interface on my router has been in this state for more than one month, with the rest of the router seemingly operational. The interface was connected directly to my ADSL broadband and worked well for two years. But then, about a month ago, the interface went down. I saw the exact moment this happened recorded as a syslog message. The only information was that the interface status had changed to down.
 
Initially I thought this was a matter of reload the router and all will be well. Did not happen. Then I thought my broadband connection was to blame. However, this option was quickly ruled out. So I went on to exhaust all troubleshooting options, including reflashing the router with the saved image and totally changing the configuration. Still no change. I have had to go back to my old BT home hub for internet access. In terms of speed this actually works a lot better than the Cisco router. But I would still rather have the router connected to my broadband line. What can I do to bring the ADSL interface back to life?

Is there any way to have my Cisco 877W Router alter from using one static route to another static route when another router on the network is reporting destination host unreachable?
 
Router 1 (192.168.2.253)
Dialer0 -> ppoe to internet
Vlan1 -> local 192.168.2.0/24
 Router 2 (192.168.2.254)
Dialer0 -> ppoe to managed VPN (172.16.28.1)
Vlan1 -> local 192.168.2.0/24
 
Router 2 is connected to another network through a managed VPN and that network also has internet access. I want to be able to have two routes to the internet on Router 2. And when Router 1 internet goes down packets get routed through the VPN instead.
 
I currently have on Router 2
 
ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 192.168.2.253
ip route 10.0.0.0 255.255.255.0 Dialer0
ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 172.16.28.5 250
 
Which does nothing when Router 1 has its Dialer0 interface shutdown, or goes offline completely.I suspect I could reverse the setup and have everything routed through the VPN by default and then if / when Dialer0 interface goes down it would switch to using Router 2, but if the problem is in the remote network and interface Dialer0 stays up, it would probably do the same thing... nothing.All devices mentioned are Cisco 877W routers with ADSL and a bunch of fast ethernet interfaces.

I recently purchased a Slingbox PRO-HD and the iPad software to view HD on my iPad when I'm away from home.  When I setup the Slingbox using their web-based configuration program, it reports that I do not have my network configured for the best performance for internet viewing, which is what I need for the iPad.  I suspect that I don't have port forwarding for port 5001 correctly setup on my system.  I can successfully connect to my Slingbox away from home on my iPad and my laptop, but the performance is indeed poor.
 
I have a cable modem and two E2000 routers.  The first E2000 is connected to my cable modem in my home office and the second E2000 is in my home theater.  I used Cisco Connect on separate PCs to setup the two routers.  Here are the details:Cable modem:Scientific AtlantaModel DPX2203 SeriesPart number 4006351'Ethernet' connected to Router 1 'Internet' connection.

I currently have cable internet connected to one router (Linksys E2000 w/ firmware v1.0.03). That router is connected to another router, a Linksys E3200 w/ firmware v1.0.02. In order to properly forward ports through the E3200, I understand that I need to set up a static IP on that router.I've basically followed the steps outlined in this video, but when I enter all the IP addresses for Static IP settings, it won't allow me to access the router's setup page. I try entering the new IP that I've given it (which it tries to direct itself to automatically after I save the settings) and the connection times out. I am able to access the internet otherwise, however. From here I'm forced to do a factory reset on the router and start from square one.

I just setup my homelab today, after having Cat5e installed so I can run my servers and network equiptment over wired network as well as setting up a wireless system.  I got everything setup and its going great I can access everything from my office now including a E4200 Linksys router that I setup to do RiP (was only choice pretty much, or NAT), and my 891 Cisco Router which is my internet connection.
 
I use to have the linksys setup to do port forwarding but now I need to figure out how to do it on the cisco 891 router via command line.
 
Below is my current configuration.  I need to be able to access my server which is behind my router by Remote Desktop.  I also have a web server, and the kids also play minecraft, and have a server setup so I need to be able to forward their port as well.

Ths is from the link above, would I just do like that but then put in my IPs and is that my Private IP I use this or my public facing.   Also he has "interface Dialer1 6881" again after the port in the second and third row.  I dont really understand what they have there.  I understand basic access list and such though I am extremely rusty.

I am trying to set up a network that has 1 internet connection, requires a local LAN for the business, and another LAN for public wireless access. Here is what I have and details on what we want to do.
 
1- Cisco ISA570 Router no WIFI
1- SG500-52P switch
6 - WAP321 Access Points
 
We have the main LAN set up and all is working well, internet access, 6 WAP's connecting and all is working like a charm. Internal IP range is 192. 168. 0.0/24.We have all 6 WAPs on the internal network, with 2 SSID's on each WAP and each SSID is assigned to a VLAN. One SSID is internal for staff, the other is for guest access for members. The internal staff wireless access is working fine.
 
We want the guests to be able to access the internet, but not the internal network, but we need to access them for administration from the internal network.
 
We created a second VLAN on the switch and added the 6 WAP ports to it as tagged for VLAN2. These 6 ports are also on VLAN1 (default). We have a second VLAN on the router, have it handing out DHCP addresses for the 192.168.25.0/24 range with DNS servers.
 
Where we are having trouble is with getting the guests wireless access to work. Guests can see the wireless, log onto the access point but that's it. They don't appear to get a 192.168.25.0/24 IP, or any IP actually, and thus cannot do anything.

We are trying to setup our ASA 5505 to do port forwarding to multiple internal servers and have run into some issues. A little background on what we are trying to do.
 
We have 1 static external IP. Internally we have one exsisting server (10.1.1.184) that has port 80 forwarded to it and another exsisting server (10.1.1.185) that has port 443 forwarded to it. Both of these servers are serving seperate web apps to our employees who of course use them offsite. We have now added an additional server (10.1.1.186) that needs to use both ports 80 and 443. Is there any way to set it up so that these ports can be forwarded to all the servers that need them? Also, how would this work as far knowing what traffic will need to go to which server even though it is using the same port?
 
The equipment is: ASA 5505ASA Version 7.2(4)ASDM Version 5.2(4)   I appologize in advance if what I'm trying to do is difficult/impossible. I inherted the ASA 5505 at this location and I was not here when it was initially installed. In fact no one on staff was here when it was initially installed. I did manage to find the passwords to it though. I'm not at all familiar with the ASA 5505 or Cisco secuirty appliances in general.

We got a layer3 switched network, with one vlan for every switch, routed by a cat4006. [code] So can we put some ports on different switches in, let`s say vlan 50, with different ips? For example, Port 0/3 on Switch 1 and 0/8 on Switch 2, but keeping the ip of the "old" vlan? Or is it necessary to configure a specified vlan interface with ip-adress for every vlan if i want to route it?

I have an problem with my new Cisco 876 Router. I configured port forwarding to access internal network devices from the internet . This works good from external but  with my old Fritz box I was able to connect to this internal devices from the same internal network with the dyndns address.
 
So here is a short review for this:
 
DYNDNS Address port tcp 80 - > 192.168.0.80 tcp port 80
 
from ex tern it works but with source address example 192.168.0.20 to destination DYNDNS address tcp 80 (maps to 192.168.0.80 tcp 80 ) it doesn't work. Is there any trick in the config of cisco to let this scenario work?
