I have a Cisco 800 series router that I need to set NAT up on. There will be four computers connecting to the internet through it. I already have the IP address coming from my cable modem I just do not know the command to get it to translate to my internal dhcp pool I have setup.

As you can see from the above output there is a problem with the command on this interface. When I try to set Fa0 as my source it works fine:

Is this because fa4 is layer 3 and fa0 is a switchport? If so, is there another way to set fa4 as the source?

I have tried following web pages that state to use control Break on the boot up but its not working.can reset that pw and write erase my configuration file?Here is my boot up. View 6 Replies View RelatedI just setup my homelab today, after having Cat5e installed so I can run my servers and network equiptment over wired network as well as setting up a wireless system. I got everything setup and its going great I can access everything from my office now including a E4200 Linksys router that I setup to do RiP (was only choice pretty much, or NAT), and my 891 Cisco Router which is my internet connection.
I use to have the linksys setup to do port forwarding but now I need to figure out how to do it on the cisco 891 router via command line.
Below is my current configuration. I need to be able to access my server which is behind my router by Remote Desktop. I also have a web server, and the kids also play minecraft, and have a server setup so I need to be able to forward their port as well.

Also he has "interface Dialer1 6881" again after the port in the second and third row. I dont really understand what they have there. I understand basic access list and such though I am extremely rusty.

I am trying to add WCCP to be configured for websense. My first option seems to be either purchase an IPServices license for the stack of 3750E switches, but i am thinking this will require us to license all three switches in the stack. The second option i am looking at is to do the WCCP configuration on the 2800 router we have on the edge. The problem is both Gig ports are in use, one going to the firewall and the second going to the ISP. My first question would be, which option is better in terms of manging as well as cost of implementing it.The second question is, if WCCP on the router is a better option, what is the add on module i should be looking to get to add the additional ports to hook up the Websense cache.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI've got a problem with DHCP running on a cisco 1900 series router, 1921 to be precise. The Data VLAN works perfectly, i configured a ip helper address and its working. Problem tough is VLAN 20. This is the voice vlan. As u can see in the config below, this has been configured using VRRP and VRF for failover purposes. I did more of these configurations, and they all worked fine, just not with this particular router!
As u will notice i deleted all the not needed to know information or i X'ed it!

I have a Cisco 887M router which I wish to restrict the devices allowed to be connected/allocated an IP address to two, and *only* two.
I can't, for the life of me, find out how to allow these two devices to connect to ANY port - I can configure a MAC restriction on a single port, but I don't know how to make it so that I can allow JUST these two devices to connect to any port in the 4 port switch/VLAN (VLAN 1 is used because the mongrel who set this up was lazy). I know the MAC addresses I want to allow
How I can do this? I *can* restrict any given port to the two MAC addresses - but if I try to add the MAC addresses to another port, they get removed from the initial one. I need to be able to have them connect to ANY port and work, but allow NOTHING else to work.
For those wondering, this is to counter a user who is utilising company resources for purposes not approved - and costing us quite a bit of money in the process.
I am setting up a Cisco 1941 series router for our department in Denmark. As we quickly relised we had to reset the router to it's defult settings. As we comunicated with the router thorugh HyperTerminal, the router asked me to restart. After we did so the router only sends encrypted messages wich is unreadable. We neither get any respons in the terminal when we try to write commands back to the router.We have tried to use different terminal programs as well as the USB port on the router.

my whole problem comes about when i need to Nat 192.168.1.0 to 10.12.14.0/24 before it goes through the tunnel.
i have a cisco 1900 series router from the isp and we connect it the our router the rv042 small biz, and we have here a cisco catalyst 2950 switch with just default configuration connected to the hosts.
my problem is from time to time that the connection is lost there is no connection with the router and the only solution is to turn off and on the cisco 1900 router and the connection will be back.
do we need to configure the routers and switches? what do you need to configure?
We have recently implemented Windows Deployment Services on our local network, but everytime we do a multicast image deployment the network get flooded to point of total saturation.
We have Netgear switches and a Cisco 2800 series router. IGMP Snooping has been enabled on all Switches, however, we are unsure on how to implement multicasting on the router.
The whole network is flat - no VLANs over than the default VLAN1. We only want multicasting to work within our local network and does not need to go out the other side of the router as that is the connection to the internet.
How to get the Cisco router configured properly to enable multicasting to not flood the network. It seems that even if we were to image 4 PCs using multicast this is enough to completely get the network flooded.
Also, am I right in thinking that IGMP needs to be enabled on all of the Switches?
Probably this is a trivial question but I have not found any response to it. What I would like is to set my cisco 877W rotuer up in order to act as a DNS server which forwards DNS queries following these simple rules:
1.- If the name is within my local domain *.ib forward them to my local DNS 172.21.238.229 and .230, and
2.- Else forward them to the chosen public domains (i.e. 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4).
i am currently using 2 DSL WIFI modem and wants to combine them to my RV042 dual wan router but as i set them up using WAN1 and Wan2 as "Obtain IP Automatically" there is no internet connection?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to set up a network that has 1 internet connection, requires a local LAN for the business, and another LAN for public wireless access. Here is what I have and details on what we want to do.
1- Cisco ISA570 Router no WIFI
1- SG500-52P switch
6 - WAP321 Access Points
We have the main LAN set up and all is working well, internet access, 6 WAP's connecting and all is working like a charm. Internal IP range is 192. 168. 0.0/24.We have all 6 WAPs on the internal network, with 2 SSID's on each WAP and each SSID is assigned to a VLAN. One SSID is internal for staff, the other is for guest access for members. The internal staff wireless access is working fine.
We want the guests to be able to access the internet, but not the internal network, but we need to access them for administration from the internal network.
We created a second VLAN on the switch and added the 6 WAP ports to it as tagged for VLAN2. These 6 ports are also on VLAN1 (default). We have a second VLAN on the router, have it handing out DHCP addresses for the 192.168.25.0/24 range with DNS servers.
Where we are having trouble is with getting the guests wireless access to work. Guests can see the wireless, log onto the access point but that's it. They don't appear to get a 192.168.25.0/24 IP, or any IP actually, and thus cannot do anything.
For intervlan routing, Is 'IP routing' command enabled by default on a 6500 series switches based on the IOS?and on 3750 switches, do we need to enable the "ip routing" command manually for intervlan routing?

The objective is to route specific VLAN traffic and the caveat is that I have multiple VLANs with the same network address.
For example:
VLAN100 10.10.10.0/28 VLAN101 10.10.11.0/28 VLAN102 10.10.12.0/28
VLAN103 10.10.12.0/28
VLAN104 10.10.11.0/28
I need traffic going from VLAN100 with a destination of 10.10.11.0 forwarded to VLAN101 and NOT VLAN104.
This task is currently being completed by a multi context firewall and we're trying to decommission the asset.

View 4 Replies View RelatedConfiguring an application using routing mode on cisco ace clients ---asa--3750--cisco ace--- servers behind vip,visa card transaction servers.i am able to setup a vip on ace using routing mode on ACE,as the servers need to see the client ip ,so we are not performing SNAT,this part is working fine,when a request comes from the client ,it goes to the vip and to one of the backend servers ,and the request will be forwaded back to the ace ,as the default gateway on the servers is pointing to the server vlan on ace.but if the transaction from the servers need to go to the visa card transaction servers ,how can we achieve this ,and after fetching the data from visa servers,does the reply will be fwd to the ACE or ASAs directly.

I don't have any special need, besides Internet connection and DHCP for some guest clients.There are around 30 IP phones (static IP), 30 PCs (static IP), and 10 wireless APs (users get dynamic IP). Maximum load is 5 phones, 5 PCs and 20 phones/laptops connected via wi-fi.
I guess I should go for Cisco 800 series. Would model 861 be good or I will need 881 or even 891?
