how to setup the Aironet 1602 (AIR-SAP1602I-E-K9) I have tried accessing it by various IPs like 10.0.0.1 or 192.168.1.254 but none of them work also when I monitor the connection using Wireshark I can't find out what its IP is.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI just installed an Aironet 1602i, standalone WAP. I have it configured to use a RADIUS server in our office. However, two issues have come up when trying to get clients connected.
iPhones and iPads won't connect to either the 2.4 or the 5 GHz radios.
No one can connect to the 5 Ghz radio.
Both radios are UP according to the GUI interfaces of the WAP. Also, laptops and android devices are able to connect to the 2.4GHz radio but not the 5 GHz radio.
I am on the latest version of the firmware.
I have a 2500 and I have successfully joined a 1600 AP to it; however I have noticed that I cannot enable CleanAir in the Global Parameters with just the 1602 AP joined. This feature was enable when I had my 2602 AP connected.So, is the problem that the 1602 doesn't fully support CleanAir? If that is the case, how do I enable CleanAir Express or is that something you can even enable thru the GUI?

Supported User Count Only fifteen users are allowed to connect on the WLAN Controller WLANs provided on the 600 series at any one time. A sixteenth user cannot authenticate until one of the first clients de-authenticates or a timeout occurred on the controller. Note: This number is cumulative across the controller WLANs on the 600 series. For example, if two controller WLANs are configured and there are fifteen users on one of the WLANs, no users will be able to join the other WLAN on the 600 series at that time. This limit does not apply to the local private WLANs that the end user configures on the 600 series designed for personal use and clients connected on these private WLANs or on the wired ports do not affect these limits.
Is it possible a terrible limitation like this ?
I have this version Ap "c1200-rcvk9w8-tar.124-21a.JA2" and a WLC 5500. When i connect the ap to the network i can ping from ap to wlc and the wlc to ap, but the proccess of lwapp messages give errors on the Ap when the Ap try to download the image from wlc and could not join the wlc. why this could be? this is the info of the wireless lan controller.

View 21 Replies View RelatedWe have been having issues with random packet drops and or some sort of radio lockup which happens a few times a day. I have a test AP setup with a few clients only a few feet away and I see this combination of messages. Should I be seeing these clients drop off and then reconnect immediately? Granted these test clients are not passing much data but my assumption is that they would not become deauthenticated because of lack of activity? This setup is using a radius server for authentication. I tested it before with just WPA2 PSK and only had a few disconnected over a number of days, compared with many a day with the Radius.

View 17 Replies View RelatedI just installed 2 new units and neither will connect to a new HP gigabit switch - no link light, other devices can connect to the switch OK. Their gigabit ethernet settings are set to auto for duplex and speed. I also tried forcing one of them to full duplex and 1000 Mbps which didn't work either. They're both powered by POE injectors. If I connect them to a 10/100 switch they work fine.

What I'm trying to achieve is: I have an adsl router (TP-link W8960N) at the front of the house but the wireless signal does not reach all the way to the end of the house. I am trying to set up the aironet 1142n to act as a repeater and place it in the middle of the house and hopefully that will extend the wireless signal to the end of the house and remove the dead spots. I would like to do this without having ethernet cables running all over the place and have been trying to configure the aironet 1142n to no avail. Every time I set the aironet 1142n to "repeater" it automatically coverts back to "access point" under role of radio network.
I guess my main question first of all is, can I set the aironet 1142n as a wireless repeater? And if so, where am I going wrong in my configuration?
I've just read that " Repeater access points running Cisco IOS software cannot associate to parent access points that that do not run Cisco IOS software."
Does this mean the aironet 1142n set up as a repeater will not work if the original access point (in this case, the TP Link adsl wireless router) isn't a cisco brand?
I am wanting to use a Cisco Aironet 1552EU to use on a site survey for a future deployment and I need to know if it is possible to configure the AP to broadcast an SSID so that my team can search for that SSID and view the signal strength throughout the site. Is a WLC required to set the SSID or is there an SSID that will be broadcast by default that we can try to connect to?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've recently purchased a 2504 Wireless controller, and I have 10 2600 APs to deploy. I think I've set up the wireless controller OK - there doesn't seem to be much that needs to be done! But I just can't seem to register an AP onto the system.
Just to briefly outline what I have done, I have connected to the Wireless Controller via terminal emulator and run through the setup, then I have connected OK to the web interface, and I am able to view and amend the controller's configuration. So I have setup a WLAN and thats about it.
Next up I have powered on one of my 2600 APs, and I am able to view it working via terminal emulator again. But I am seeing it continually running the same routine to connect to a controller, and all the time it just fails. Below is what I am seeing.
One thing that I am unsure about is that I am unable to connect to the AP config pages via web browser, using the IP 192.168.0.97 (although it does ping okay). Is that odd?
And the main question - why doesn't the AP connect to the wireless controller? Do the APs need to be authroized on the controller first? If I check the controller's web interface, under Monitor - Statistics - AP Join, I can see the AP listed with Status "Not Joined" but I don't know what I need to do to make it join!

I'm working on setting up an Aironet 1040 Wireless Access Point for my company. It's my first time setting up something like this, and I've run into a bit of trouble.
I created my first SSID easily enough, following the manual and guides online. I set up VLAN 1 as my native VLAN and linked it to my SSID with the encryption and security that I was told to use and it works great. However, my boss asked me to set up a second connection as well for guests at the office, and this is where my trouble starts.
I created VLAN 2, and then another SSID which I linked here. I set up encryption and security the same way, and I can see the network when I open up my network and sharing manager. I can connect to the network as well, but I either get a spinning blue icon where my signal strength indicator is or a few bars with a yellow caution sign, and Windows says 'Identifying...'. I've compared the two SSIDs using the console and the GUI and I can't seem to spot any obvious differences between them.
I have recently purchase Aironet Access Point. I'm pretty new to Cisco systems and what i'm try to do is have the access point broadcast multiple SSIDs lets call them Guest and Admin. My problems is when i config router to have a DHCP address it works perfectly fine but when i assign a static IP it shows all the any connected device as unkown with IP 0.0.0.0. So i'm guessing i will need to setup a dhcp server. Is there a way access point can have its own DHCP server and IP address ( i don't want to use any from my STATIC ip subnet as i dont know alot of empty ones left) like home wifi router where they assign each device an IP like 192.168.0.1. Is this possible?

I have a Aironet 1240AG and have our main SSID set up on Radio0-802.11G. It uses WPA TKIP. Everything works fine on it. Recently we have been getting a lot of visitors who need wireless access, so reather than hand out our main key to visitors, I decided to create another SSID on Radio1-802.11A for guests. For some reason the new SSID does not show up on the available networks on client devices. You can connect to it manually by entering the name and key. But how do I get the SSID to broadcast on the 2nd SSID. A lot of these guests are not very computer smart, so it becomes a real pain to have to walk them through connecting to the guest network.

I bought 2 Cisco 1140 series Access Points a couple of months ago. We would like to use PEAP to autheticate with Microsoft IAS Radius Server & Active directory. I cannot find a document which describes how to setup this type of configuration. The only document which is close is how to setup LEAP & with ACS: [URL] I initially followed the 'TechReplublic's Ultimate Guide to Enterprise Wireless LAN Security' which has all the steps to setup Radius server, client side configuration, Certificates and finally a handy excel script to generate a config for the AP.
