It`s possible configure aironet 1600 standalone without WLC and without 2 SSID? ¿What's default IP address o process to configuration?
I just installed an Aironet 1602i, standalone WAP. I have it configured to use a RADIUS server in our office. However, two issues have come up when trying to get clients connected.
iPhones and iPads won't connect to either the 2.4 or the 5 GHz radios.
No one can connect to the 5 Ghz radio.
Both radios are UP according to the GUI interfaces of the WAP. Also, laptops and android devices are able to connect to the 2.4GHz radio but not the 5 GHz radio.
I am on the latest version of the firmware.
Can I convert a standalone 1600 access point to a CAPWAP based AP when I choose to deploy a WLC later?Cant see any literature on cisco.com that is specific to the 1600 APsView 1 Replies View Related
how to setup the Aironet 1602 (AIR-SAP1602I-E-K9) I have tried accessing it by various IPs like 10.0.0.1 or 192.168.1.254 but none of them work also when I monitor the connection using Wireshark I can't find out what its IP is.View 4 Replies View Related
I just installed an Aironet 1140 to replace a Netgear ProSafe access point that I had in my network prior. I'm having one issue that I can't figure out though. None of the client PCs can establish a connection to an external (over the internet) VPN server while on the Aironet wireless. If i unplug the AP and plug a PC into the same port that normall feeds the Aironet I can VPN just fine.
Is there any "VPN Passthrough" option that needs to be enabled somewhere on the 1140 that is blocking this traffic for some reason?

I have a AIR-SAP-1602i-k9 Aironet. I cannot find any information on the Cisco site on how to configure the Aironet without a controller. I assumed a standalone meant I could just login.
I tried seeing if it would pull a DHCP address on my network but it didnt.
I have to set up the AP in a standalone mode to support voice and data traffic through the wireless network. for this, i was trying to look for the config guide so i know how to go about it, but all the doc was refering to controller based setup. i followed this link URL
I have never worked on wireless in a standalone mode, so this is the first time i will be doing it.
For some time now I have been looking for a good business class wireless AP. I've narrowed it down to the Cisco Aironet 1140 standalone (no controller). I'm no stranger to Cisco products. I've worked with their routers, switches and Pix/ASA firewalls. However, I've not had the opportunity to work with their wireless AP's. Anyone using these AP's (more specifically the 1140 standalone), can provide information on the reliability and security of these devices. Some of the features I would like to have like Radio Mgmt. and Rogue AP Detection I see are only available on the controller based units. Does not having these features on the standalone unit reduce its reliability and security? This is for a small business and the budget does not allow to drop for a controller at this time.View 7 Replies View Related
I'm new to the Cisco Aironet Access Point. I got a new STANDALONE Aironet 1260 series access point device. The part # AIR-AP1262N-A-K9. The shipping package did not come with any guide, CD, and power adapter. I searched the Cisco sites, but could not find appropriate manuals. I did find a getting started guide but not for standalone AP, it's for Controller-based AP. Question - where can I find manuals / guides to set up and configure my new standalone Cisco Aironet Access Point 1260?View 3 Replies View Related
I am using an Aironet 1142 standalone AP and want to use Apples Bonjour Service between iOS devices e.g. iPad and Apple TV.I have found here some posts that suggest to disable igmp snopping but this didn't worked for me.All devices are in the same vlan/subnet. Do I need to configure something special?View 3 Replies View Related
I must configure an Aironet 2602e Access Point, as a standalone access point (without WLC), but I can not find Configuration Guides for that. I have only found the "getting started guide" but there is described an installation combined with a WLC, which I have not. Is it provided no real guidance from Cisco? I did something never done before.View 2 Replies View Related
I recently bought 6 airo net 1041N standalone access points for a customer of mine. It's an academy of barely 200 students. I'll be installing an access point in every room, to ensure better signal, since they use video for there classes. The reason why i decided to install an access point in every room is because the walls are armed concrete and they had a terrible experience with a past company in which they spend a lot of money for a antenna system that didn't work. These access points will be connected to a switch, which I have to buy also.Every student is going to bring there own laptops in order to connect to the network.
The reason why I'm writing is because I have a few questions to clarify.
1) What is the best position for better signal, top side wall or corner ceiling?
2) How many client mac address filtering can i do per access point?
3)I plan on doing ESSID but can I mac filter clients to a particular access point or should I mac address filter all permitted devices in all access points. The problem is that students come with iPods and phones and as you know on windows they will be able to see the wpa2 key and enter it on the particular UN-authorized device.
4) Any graphic user interface for configuring these access points or do i have to use Cisco IOS(kind of familiar with it)? (I'm used to GUI)
5)How can I configure these access points, through Ethernet browser or do I have to use console port cable?
6)Do I have to use POE injector or can I connect the access points directly to the switch with PoE and QoS?
7)I was planning on buying a small business switch sg100 d-8 but they recommended me that I should use the catalyst 2960 series, which would be best for handling video data? don't have to be much features, just QoS.
8) Can CCp software be used in these access points?
Is it possible to also upgrade the 1310 series cisco ap's from autonomous to lwap without using the upgrade tool, if so what procedure do I follow? The upgrade tool required to have telnet enable on the controller which I can't break the policyView 1 Replies View Related
Does Aironet Autonomous/Standalone 2602 support WDS (Wireless Domain Service)?
I noticed that Aironet Controller-based 2602 does not support WDS. I would like to use 1242AG series but it will be going EOS soon.
The command that is given returns an error at the letter a in archive. The command I used was: archive download-sw /overwrite /reload tftp:// obviously with my tftp server info and file name at the end. I logged in with privileged EXEC mode as directed, but archive is not listed when I type ? to get a list of commands. I need to have this AP up and running by Monday.View 3 Replies View Related
upgraded my home AP from Autonomous to Lwapp. I was an Idiot and thought i was getting an IOS upgrade. I need to revert it back to autonomous and a simple "mode" button reset doesnt work. I read that I need to Reload original IOS software, but It appears I cant get it without a support contract. I cant afford servicenet and need to obtain old ios to revert to factory default 12.4(10b)JA1. Do I need a contract to roll back? Is there an archive (backup image) of the old IOS that could be still stored on the device. I didnt back it up and need to obtain the image.View 5 Replies View Related
I purchased the AP wrongly, instead of getting the "Standalone/Autonomous" (AIR-SAP2602E) version but I purchased the controller-based version (AIR-CAP2602E); my question is can I use "ap3g2-k9w7-tar.152-2.JB.tar" too flash it to a "Standalone/Autonomous" version?View 21 Replies View Related
we have 1262 (AIR-LAP1262N-E-K9) and we dont have WLC..and i want to convert it to Autonomous mode..i did the below steps... with using this file (ap3g1-k9w7-tar.152-2.JB.tar) download it from Cisco site. Step 1 The static IP address of the PC on which your TFTP server software runs should be between 10.0.0.2 and 10.0.0.30. Step 2 Make sure that the PC contains the access point image file (such as c1200-k9w7-tar.122-15.JA.tar for a 1200 series access point) in the TFTP server folder and that the TFTP server is activated. Step 3 Set the timeout value on the TFTP server to 30 seconds. Step 4 On the PC where the TFTP server is located, perform these steps.View 48 Replies View Related

I have an Aironet 1250 AIR-LAP1252AG-A-K9 I am having issues with, and I am hoping for some direction on how to resolve them. I understand this question has been posted many times many different ways, but i have no luck unfortunately. Here is where I am: I can terminal into the AP, which has been set to factory default, with the username and password and enable password of Cisco. Once I am in the enable mode, I get lost.
Usually there would be an option to go to config. t, and work from there, but this AP does not have that option, Actually if I do a ? at the enable prompt, the commands list only starts with the letter C; but none are config.
I also cannot get into the web interface of the AP. The AP gets a DHCP IP from my DHCP server, (192.1681.128/24) but I cannot get into the web interface using the IP it gets from DHCP. The page never comes up. To add to the confusion, I cannot turn off the CLI event logging, although I enter the command "no debug all". Maybe I am off on what to put in. Nonetheless, it drives me crazy with messages every two seconds as I am trying to type while attempting to figure things out.
Overall, from reading the forums and doing Google searches, I am going on the assumption that the AP is now in lightweight mode, as opposed to autonomous mode, which is where I want it to be. I have tried the method of updating the firmware to the autonomous firmware from Jan 2013 for the AP. I use the TFTP method as I have found here on the forums a few times; I hold the mode button down while applying power to the AP, let the system LED turn red and release the button so the TFTP process can go through, but nothing changes.
I have the AP powered from a gigabit POE switch. The computer I am using for the TFTP is on the same sub net as the AP. I have tried using 10.0.0.6/24 for the computer with the TFTP on it, made sure the view all file extensions option was checked, and renamed the firmware to the .default extension-still nothing updates.
I also noticed that once I hold the mode button down for 20-30 seconds then let it go, the CLI output says the AP it is on the 10.0.0.x sub net, but I cannot ping the computer with the TFTP program on it. If i try to, it get a "Command not supported" message. So I will go on the idea that this is most likely why I cannot do a TFTP update.
About 30 seconds after I release the mode button and the AP boots, it will say it has a 10.0.0.x IP address, then it starts going crazy with messages that it cannot find a DHCP server.
I am trying to setup a Cisco Aironet 1041 on my network for WiFi authinentication and access and I do not have a Radius server and was wondering if it is possible to configure the 1041 to authenticate with just WPA or WPA2 and a PSK without any of the other configurations? This setup is only going to be temporary untill I can get the appropriate infrastructure in place to facilitate the Radius server setup I really want in 12 to 18 months from now.View 9 Replies View Related

for some reason our wlan-controllers were build up to be standalone instead of beeing one mobility-group. I would like to change this in order to use all features of HA.
let me describe our scenario: two WLCs 5508 running SW ver. 6
- same subnet
- both are running in master controller mode
- different hostnames, ip-addresses, etc
- all settings for WLANs and AP-groups (exept the APs themselves in these groups) are the same
- in total at this moment we are running around 100 LAPs configured one half on WLC#1, the other half on WLC#2
I don't know exactly why, but when that setting was installed, someone already configuredHA for each accesspoint... e.g.:
- AP#1 primary WLC#1, secondary WLC#2
- AP#2 primary WLC#2, secondary WLC#1 but without WLC#2 knowing the configuration for AP#1 it makes no sense, correct?
so my question is: how should I do the migration in the best way?
is it easy as:
- disabling master controller mode on WLC#2
- configuring both WLCs into one mobility group
--> WLCs are negotiating their configurations for the APs
I can run the Cisco AIR-LAP1142n-a-k9 access point in standalone mode? I don't want it to look for a controller when it boots up.View 3 Replies View Related
