Cisco VPN :: ASA 5505s - Computer Network Connecting To Remote Access Setup

Dec 4, 2012

I am looking up setting a VPN using ASA 5505s so we can connect a mobile network of computers to our base network of computers. The base network has a static public IP address, but the mobile site will not. I was thinking of using a remote access VPN setup, but I am unsure if I can have a network of computers connecting in to the remote access VPN setup.

Remote Access To Computer Through Wireless Network

Oct 12, 2012

I suspect that he did something and gained remote access to my computer.I found out about it when I checked my wireless connections on my router and found his name on the network : Steve's - Iphone and a couple of unfamiliar connections. I then opened my task manager and ended some tasks I thought were possibly infected. When I went back to the wireless status, the unfamiliar connections disappeared.

I use Norton firewall + kaspersky internet security and my virus definitions have always been up to date, but I cannot detect anything. I also set my options to permit only MAC authenticated computers and changed my wireless WPA/WPA2 key, but every time I turn my wireless on, this guy somehow is connected to my network. [code]

Cisco VPN :: Site-to-site Setup On ASA 5505s?

May 26, 2011

I've been struggling to get a site-to-site VPN going as I am new to Cisco firewalls (but not firewalls in general).  Before going too deep in the config, whether it's possible to restore a backup config from one ASA to another ASA and simply modify some settings?  Or is a backup config unique to a device and that might mess up my site-to-site VPN config?

Cisco VPN :: Setup A Remote Access VPN On ASA5505 Firewall

Jun 2, 2013

I have setup a Remote access VPN on my ASA5505 firewall through the ASDM wizard.I can successfully connect with the Cisco VPN client. My firewall also shows me the VPN session and shows incoming Rx packets. However, Tx packets remain 0, so no traffic is going out. My ASA5505 is configured as router on a stick with 25 different VLAN's. I want to restrict traffic to one specific VLAN using a crypto map. When I issue a ping -t command on my connected Windows box, the firewall log shows me the following message:
"IKE Initiator unable to find policy: Intf outside, Src:, Dst:"
"This message indicates that the IPSec fast path processed a packet that triggered IKE, but IKE's policy lookup failed. This error could be timing related. The ACLs that triggered IKE might have been deleted before IKE processed the initiation request. This problem will most likely correct itself." [code] I have really no idea what's going on. I have setup a Remote access VPN countless times but this time it shows me the error as described above.

Setup Linksys 3200 Remote Access

Oct 3, 2012

I'm trying to setup remote access for my linksys 3200 so that I can configure it through the WAN port. I have turned on remote access, however when I try to connect I get a 404 error. The settings I have are:

When I try to access I just get a 404 error. I have allowed RDP access to a computer behind the router and this works fine on the same IP address. what else I have to do to allow remote management access?

UPDATE: I tried changing the port to 80 and it works. Change it back to any other number and it doesn't work. Modem is setup with a DMZ to the router's IP. Why does it only work on port 80? BTW I can't use port 80 because there is a website hosted behind the router.

Connecting An Old XP Computer To A WPA2 Network

Dec 22, 2012

I'm trying to connect an old HP desktop I have (running windows XP) to my home network, which uses WPA2 encryption. I'm pretty much a network noob so I have no idea what's going wrong. Right now it's stuck on "validating identity" when I try to connect to the network.

So far in my quest to solve this problem, I have:

1. Downloaded Service Pack 3.

2. Tried disabiling Authentication for the network.

From reading around forums I've learned that apparently after downloading Service Pack 3, I should be able to choose 'WPA2' as an option for "Network Authentication" on my Network's properties page. It still isn't showing up for me though.

Since my desktop can't connect to the internet, I couldn't download Service Pack 3 directly so I downloaded it on another computer, put it on a flash drive, and then uploaded it to the desktop. I'm not sure if this could be the problem or not, but if it makes a difference, I can verify on my Computer's properties page that I am running Service Pack 3.

My network adapter is a "Hawking Technologies HWP54G Wireless-G PCI Card". Is it possible that this card does not support WPA2? How do I tell? If it doesn't support WPA2, am I **** out of luck for trying to connect to my network without upgrading the card itself?

Why doesn't "WPA-2" show up as an option for my Network Authentication type?

earlier today my modem died so I looked around and found an old modem (D-Link DSL-300T) lying around so I decided to use that one instead of purchasing a new one. It always worked great in the past, but when I tried it today I can only find a connection on this computer (garbage computer), the other 2 computers in my network can't connect to the internet, they can't even connect to the network at all. Oh and the router I'm using is a D-Link DIR-100. This computer is running windows XP, so is another one in the network and the one I want the connection to work on is running windows 7.

Cisco VPN :: All Remote Wireless IPSec Remote Clients Fail Connecting To ASA 5500

Sep 12, 2012

We have two ASA 5500 series Firewalls running 8.4(1).  One in New York, another in Atlanta. They are configured identically for simple IPSecV1 remote access for clients.  Authentication is performed by an Radius server local to each site.
There are multiple IPSec Site-to-Site tunnels on these ASA's as well but those are not affected by the issues we're having.First, let me start with the famous last words, NOTHING WAS CHANGED.
All of a sudden, we were getting reports of remote users to the Atlanta ASA timing out when trying to bring up the tunnel.  They would get prompted for their ID/Password, then nothing until it times out.Sames users going to the NY ASA are fine. After extensive troubleshooting, here is what I've discovered. Remote clients will authenticate fine to the Atlanta Firewall ONLY IF THEY ARE USING A WIRED CONNECTION.
If they are using the wireless adapter for their client machine, they will get stuck trying to login to Atlanta. These same clients will get into the New York ASA with no problems using wired or wireless connections.Windows 7 clients use the Shrewsoft VPN client and Mac clients use the Cisco VPN client.  They BOTH BEHAVE the same way and fail to connect to the Atlanta ASA if they use their wireless adapter to initiate the connection.
Using myself as an example.
1. On my home Win 7 laptop using wireless, I can connect to the NY ASA with no issues.
2. The same creditials USED to work for Atlanta as well but have now stopped working.  I get stuck until it times out.
3. I run a wire from my laptop to the FiOS router, then try again using the same credentials to Atlanta and I get RIGHT IN.
This makes absolutely no sense to me.  Why would the far end of the cloud care if I have a wired or wireless network adapter?  I should just be an IP address right?  Again, this is beyond my scope of knowledge. We've rebuilt and moved the Radius server to another host in Atlanta in our attempts to troubleshoot to no avail.  We've also rebooted the Atlanta Firewall and nothing changed.
We've tried all sorts of remote client combinations.  Wireless Internet access points from different carriers (Clear, Verizon, Sprint) all exhibit the same behavior.  Once I plug the laptops into a wired connection, BAM, they work connecting to Atlanta.  The New York ASA is fine for wired and wireless connections.  Same with some other remote office locations that we have.
Below I've detailed the syslog sequence on the Atlanta ASA for both a working wired remote connection and a failed wireless connection.  At first we thought the AAA/Radius server was rejecting us but is shows the same reject message for the working connection.  Again, both MAC and Windows clients show the same sequence.Where the connection fails is the "IKE Phase 1" process.

Cisco VPN :: Remote VPN With ASA 5520 - Can't Access Internal Network

I am trying to build a remote vpn in ASA 5520 Software Version 8.3(1). I am using ASDM 6.3(1) for the configuration. I went through the SSL VPN wizard and did the configuration. I tried connecting to the ASA using anyconnect VPN and I could successfully connect the VPN. My home laptop takes an IP (which I have defined in the wizard). Now my issue is, I can't access any office internal network from this laptop (none of the internal IP is ping ing even). Meanwhile, I could ping and rdp to this laptop(which is connectd by anyconnect VPN) from my office network. One thing I noticed is that when I give a traceroute to an internal IP from the laptop, the first hop goes to my home ISP router.
