I would hereby like to inform if it is possible to configure the Cisco ASA5505 firewall to route internet via an external VPN, while a laptop and smartphone connect to the firewall via Cisco AnyConnect VPN.
The configuration would result into: Laptop on public internet -> Cisco ASA5505 VPN -> External VPN (Unix server) -> internet.
I have an internal DVR system that I am trying to share to the outside world. We recently put in an ASA5505 and I am having trouble getting the settings correct.I want to use an external IP to access the DVR system from anywhere and have my ASA5505 redirect the traffic to the internal IP address. I assume I need to use a NAT and a route policy however can not figure out how it would be.

So I have 5 ASA 5505's for the branch offices and one 5510 for the Head Office. I am trying to get them to behave like routers and pass the traffic across. I set up a lab with a 5505 and the 5510 using an ethernet cable for both Outside interfaces since the WAN links are going to be MetroEthernet Layer 2 anyway.
I tried static routes, dynamic routing, I followed examples from other persons who did it and it doesn't work. I attached the configs here to show I have the default routes, specific static routes pointing the traffic out, any any rules configured as well. I cannot ping from the internal lan of the 5505 to the internal lan of the 5510.
I need to be able to redirect some HTTP traffic to an Ironport WSA (for now) on a DMZ interface, the initial config I'm trying to test is along the lines of the following (don't have access to the ASA at the moment to cut-and-paste):
access-list 101 deny any any neq www
access-list 101 deny tcp host 10.0.2.2 any
access-list 101 permit tcp any any
route-map proxy-redirect permit 101
match ip address 101
set ip next-hop 10.0.2.2
Unfortunately the ASA does not take the "set ip next-hop" command, I get an invalid input error message and if I at the route map config prompt type "?" only the "metric" and "metric-type" commands are listed as available.
This happens both on 8.2 (ASA5510) and 8.4(2) (ASA5505). Since others are able to make this work, I assume there's something else on the ASA that I have to set to enable this command?
I am a total Cisco novice who has just had a ASA5505 installed to replace a linux freeware firewall (smoothwall).I'm told that the 5505 can't port forward traffic (e.g. ssh) from two external IP addresses to two internal destination machines via the same port # (22 in this example).
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have purchased a subnet of 8 private IP addresses from my ISP. 109.x.x.128/29.The ISP has placed a juniper router within our data centre which is routing purely from 109.x.x.206/30 to 109.x.x.128/29 with the ip of fa0/1 set to .129.
I have linked a cisco 5505 to fa0/1 of the juniper from fa0/0 and configured its IP to .130. I have configured NAT to translate our client pool 192.168.16.x /24 address' to the internet.
Is it possible for the 5505 to route / map my remaing private IP addresses through its external port? I have tried creating a seperate VLAN for a DMZ for our servers to sit within but am returned with a subnetting error as VLAN for my external port is all ready configured within the same subnet.
I have a normal setup of ASA5505 (without security license) connected behind an internet router. From the ASA5505 console I can ping the Internet. However, users behind the Firewall on the internal LAN, cannot ping the Internet even though NATing is configured. The users can ping the Inside interface of the Firewall so there is no internal reachability problem. In addition, I noticed that the NAT inside access list is not having any hit counts at all when users are trying to reach the internet.
When i replace the ASA5505 with a router with NAT overload configuration on it, the setup works normally and users are able to browse the internet.
The ASA5505 configuration is shown below.

2. Juniper fe0/0/2 port is configured as inet port and configured the Internal public LAN pool provided by the ISP. And this port is directly connected to Cisco ASA 5505 E0/0. Its a /28 pool IP address. This interface is configured as outside and security level set to 0.
From Juniper SRX, am able to ping public Internet IPs (8.8.8.8).
Issue:
1. From ASA am unable to ping public ip configured on Juniper G0/0/0 port.(/30)
2. From ASA no other Public internet IP is pinging.
Troubleshooting Done so far.
1, Configured icmp inspection on ASA.
2. Used the packet tracer in ASA, it shows the packet is flowing outside without a drop.
3. Allowed all services in untrust zone in bound traffic in Juniper SRX.
4. Viewed the logs when I was trying the ping 8.8.8.8 in ASA. It says "Tear down ICMP connection for faddrr **** gaddr **
We have a wifi network for guests, that we route to internet through an old PIX515 Firewall. We recently tuned the timers to lower values in order to "save" on resources and publix address usage.
The timers we use are:
-timeout xlate 0:30:00
-timeout conn 0:30:00 half-closed 0:05:00 udp 0:02:00 icmp 0:00:02
Through verifying the new timers, we noticed at some xlate connections (TCP PAT) that are idle for ever!!In the connection table, I cannot find an idle connection for longer than 1h....

I want the network traffic destined for HQ to travel over the VPN connection until that connection is no longer valid (down). I've been told that RRI is the way to go but cannot get it to work. I get one of my routes to show up in the router but that's it (and not as a static route). Also I don't want the routes to be injected if the VPN connection is down. But I do want the VPN connection to be the preferred connection.

Got an ASA5505 Sec+ with ip 10.45.10.1 on inside interface. Firmware 8.3(1). Got another Cisco router (From my ISP) with ip 10.45.10.254 - This one creates an L2L tunnel - To the 10.45.20.0/24 net.
On the 5505 ive got "route inside 10.45.20.0 255.255.255.0 10.45.10.254 1", and trafic is being directed to 10.45.10.254 as it should.
I know cause I can ping everything one the 10.45.20.0/24 net - But thats it... Cant RDP, connect to fileshare... Nothing.
When i test a PC and set it to gateway 10.45.10.254 I can access everything on the remote network. Do I need some NAT command or an access-list? I've setup AnyConnect VPN on the ASA and I can connect to both networks without any problems.
I am trying to configure dual ISP on my ASA5505.I have everything configured and working when eth0/0 is connected, but when I disconnect it, it doesn't route any traffic.The static route for the primary isp is removed and the static route to the backup isp shows up, but no traffic goes in or out. View 1 Replies View RelatedI've enabled antispoof on all interfaces on asa 5510.If you start a traceroute to a network on the default route, everything works, since replies comes to an interface with route 0.0.0.0/0 defined.If you start a tracer route to a network that is NOT on the default route (let's assume coporate MPLS), you only get response from first carrier router, the other are discarded because of anti spoof violation.
I have ICMP inspection and icmp-error inspection enabled.
Recently installed an ASA5505 for a client. They have Verizon DSL (7mb down, 384up package). So my config is Verizon (Westell) DSL modem connected to e0/0 (VLAN2) of ASA. From there I have e0/1 (VLAN1) connected to a 3COM 2250 Plus 50 port switch.
Since installing the ASA client has been complaining of a major slow down in Internet speed. Contacted ISP and they had me remove the firewall from the equation and hook modem directly to laptop. With this setup I get between 6-7mb download speeds. When I put the ASA back into the mix though, the speed drops significantly. The speed will varry but 90% of the time they do not even get 1mb download speeds.
The configuration is pretty straight forward, not doing a whole lot with the box other then using it for VPN (IPSEC).
There is web server at the internet. The firewall ASA5505 is located at the inside edge of the edge router and the internet is at the outside edge router of the edge router. The router has already been configured can route the outside network of firewall to internet. [code]

Recently, I have bought an ASA 5505 firewall which I have tried to connect to my ADSL router (Modem).It is now more than a week that I am trying to get internet connection through the firewall but I still can't succeed. I have tried many advices I get from this community but I still don't know what is wrong with my ASA Firewall configuration. From inside I am able to ping the inside and outside interface with a great success. and from my laptop which is connected to the firewall, I am able to ping the both interfaces (inside and outside) but still I can't access the internet.
As I don't have a static IP address from my ISP, I have configured the outside interface to pick up the ip address dynamically. Most of the time, the outside interface get the 192.168.1.2 ip address. [code]
I've been struggling with gaining access to the inter through our Comcast business gateway. We have had Comcast configure the device fro true static IP subnetting. Turned of local DHCP on the device etc. Here is my config.

My operations manager says "Could you go on-site and configure a new clients new internet connection?" I make the arrangements and go on-site. As I'm working with the providers tech he says "Do you have a sub-interface confgured for a dot1q VLAN id of 1057?", I say "What?". Anyway my firewall is not capable of dot1q VLAN, so he says "Do you have a Cisco router that can provide the trunking?", I say "Yes, I tink so but not with me". The question is can I use an SR520 between my firewall and the provider demarc to route the VLAN he is talking about? My initial discovery says yes but I am not quite sure of the details on how to achieve this on the SR520.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've recently upgraded my old firewall from a PIX to an ASA5505 and have been trying to match up the configuration settings to no avail. I have is that I can't ping the new firewall on it's inside interface, despite having "icmp permit any inside" in the running config. Secondly, the server I have on there ("Sar") can't connect out to the internet.I've included the ASA's running config incase anybody can see if something stands out. I have a feeling it's either not letting anything onto the inside interface, or there is no nat going on. Lastly (and possibly relevant), the firewall is actually going at the end of a vlan, which is different to the firewall's inside vlan number. I don't know if this is actually the problem because the server can't connect out even if connected directly into the firewall.

The original goal was to block "Mumble/Murmur" (a voip app) traffic, which runs on TCP/UDP 64738, both inbound and outbound, except to a certain host (63.223.117.170).
However, when nothing I tried seemed to make a difference, just to troubleshoot, I decided to try blocking all inbound traffic. I first disconnected ethernet port 0/0 to ensure that it was cabled correctly and the outside interface went down when I did. That worked as expected, so I confirmed I had the right interface and it was cabled correctly.
I then applied a "any any deny ip" rule as the first element in the outside interface access_list, as you can see below. However, it appears to have had no real effect and the hit count is very low (it should be astronomical).

I also want in internal NAT, but only for certain external hosts, so when they connect to any of the above, their source address is changed. I've attempted the following so an external host (172.16.2.254), has it's source changed to 172.16.1.100.

But it's source remains unchanged.What am I missing?
