I have successfully set up a pptp vpn from my new rv220w. I have also successfully logged in using 2 seperate laptops and also my iPhone. They all work great. There is one issue. When connected and I log into the router it does not show these laptops or iPhone as being connected to the vpn. There is two spots that its supposed to show the page refreshes and shows nothing connected. Is there a setting I am missing?
View 2 RepliesThe rouge access points being detected by the 5508 WLC are not showing up on the Context Aware tab of NCS? I have a MSE 3310 installed and configured and it shows to be syncronizing with the WLC. I'm sure I am missing some part of the configuration just not sure where.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just got a DIR-655 and set it all up pretty easily. I have 6 wired and 3 wireless. All work fine and all are set to use DHCP. But if I go (in the router) to the Lan Computers list under Device Info, three devices (2 wired, 1 wireless) do not appear. I do have a switch added to the system, but of the three devices connected to it, 1 shows in th Lan Computers list and the other 2 do not.Since everything works, I'm mostly just curious why this is. Every previous router I've had showed everything correctly.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an ASA 5550 running 8.4(5) and have installed ASDM 7.0(2), but when I try to manage the bookmarks under the Remote Access - Portal when I try to edit an individual item in a bookmark list the screen does not display any information. Is this a know bug, or do I need to have a specific java version for the new ASDM? As a side note, I have not noticed any other issues with the new version of ASDM, only the bookmarks. I initially tried to downgrade the ASDM version that I was using to connect, but it will no longer allow me to connect.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have encountering a problem with a new installation at my clients side recently.We have a 5508 wlc and a bunch of Laps connected to it.Recently we associated a 1142ap to the same controller.The issue we are facing is that , the client laptops that are connected to THIS ap are showing maximum of only 54mbps in their network information dialogue box.Initially i couldn't understand why this could happen.But after a bit of research , i came to know that this could happen because of ``unticked`` data rates in the controller , or because of not using wpa2 with aes as the security standard for N-series access points.Now i have enabled all data rates in the High Throughput section as well as enabled the correct encryption standard.But still the issue persists.We have checked with multiple laptops , to rule out the possibility of a faulty n/w card

Cisco recommends the RV220 as the entry point Firewall/Router/Wireless and researching there are apparently some good and bad sides of having everything all in one unit depending on who you ask. The other option would be to get a dedicated Firewall/Router and then run the wireless on a seperate device(vlan). I'm fine with either solution but my main concern is performance on the physical connections as well as reliability with the wireless having good range and not dropping or having to reboot the router continuously. Behind the router/firewall I will purchase one of the Cisco 24-port gig switches for physical connections through the office. How to get for the router/firewall/wireless setup? Budget is not a problem although I don't want to pay for something that is overkill for 10-15 wired workstations and 5-10 wireless including a guest wireless.

However, now since I have to use DHCP I cannot disable the DNS from ISP.If I change the DNS on the LAN or change the DNS in my adapter properties (in local machine) this makes my Brother printer loose connectivity.How can I get the openDNS servers on the WAN side of the RV220?I do not have a static ip address from Comcast either....

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm running a Windows Server 2008 R2 connected via cable to my RV220. The server is hosting several websites running in separate virtual machines. These websites are accessible through a reverse proxy set up on the 2008 R2. In addition the 2008 R2 provides access to storage over Windows file sharing (client backup, file sharing ...). Most of the clients are connected via wireless.My problem is that after some time (~24h) I lose the connection to the services provided by the 2008 R2 server as a result of (host) name resolution has stopped working. This only happens for wireless clients. Wired clients are not affected.To give more details: Network clients connected via wireless can't see clients connected via Ethernet and the network shares are not accessible anymore (even by putting in manually "\hostnameshare", but "\[IP address]share" still works). Being connected via Ethernet the communication between client and server works flawlessly - the server appears immediately on the network device list. The other way around is also not possible: the server can’t see clients connected via wireless. The reverse proxy is still accessible through wireless connection by putting in the IP address, e.g. "http://192.168.1.123/homepage" but "http://hostname/homepage" won't work.A restart of the router will fix things but only for the next couple of hours.

I have entered both debug crypto isakmp and debug crypto verbose but when I try to ping an internal IP at the other location through my VLAN1 interface no debugging info comes up.
Also my ACL-s for the crypto maps show no activity. I have tried many things so my configuration files are starting to get really messy.

I enabled dual stack on my rv042g router but its not recieving ipv6 information from my isp. My isp is Time Warner in Milwaukee. They assure me that they are ipv6 ready and assume the problem is on my end. All they want to do is have me connect one computer up to my modem. What good is that when I have a network that needs service. The router needs to be working not just one pc. My ipv4 is working perfectly. It is obtaining all information automaticly.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI was setting a static IPs for my PCs, and for the Preferred and Alternate DNS Server addresses I looked on my router's Device Information page. It had "Primary DNS Server: 121.98.0.1", but "Secondary DNS Server:" is reported as "0.0.0.0". Router is a DIR-655:
I looked on my ISP's website and they have "121.98.0.2" listed as the Secondary Name Server/DNS:
Why does the router not report that? Is there something wrong? Should I still set 121.98.0.2 as the Alternate DNS Server in Windows?
EDIT: BTW, my modem reports both primary and secondary DNS servers on it's info page.
I have two CSS 11503 in my network, recently we had configured sticky with advanced-balance arrowpoint-cookie.
The sticky is functioning but we found our server's private IP in the IE cookie ARPT box.

1. With the IP Base feature set I am able to create a plain PPTP VPN without any encryption; the Windows XP machine can bring it up and unicast data passes through it OK in both directions.
2. But when trying to send multicast, only one-way traffic is observed:i. Windows XP host on far end of PPTP VPN and a local PC both running old Microsoft tool "MPING.EXE", sending and listening for traffic on the groiup 225.100.101.102i. The distant host receives and echoes back the packets received from the local machine + sending its own (confirmed with Wireshark running at the far end)ii. But the local machine directly connected to the C1921 router does not hear any packets from the far end; Wireshark shows only the ones it is sending.
3. Group status ("show ip igmp membership") as far as the C1921 is concerned shows both ends (192.168.50.10 (local end) and 192.168.50.201 (distant end via the PPTP VPN)) joined to the group [code]
4. But "show ip mroute" for that group shows an error; for the source on the far end of the PPTP VPN (having the IP address 192.168.50.201), the source interface is incorrectly shown as GigabitEthernet0/0 (should be Virtual-Access2.1 for that PPTP VPN) and the outgoing interface is shown as Virtual-Access2.1 [code]
5. I have tried adding static mroutes and messing about with parameters for the virtual-template interface for the PPTP VPN, but the problem remains. And if I put another local PC onto a different Ethernet port of the router, the multicast traffic does flow both ways - so the issue is solely with the PPTP VPN.After a week of head-scratching I am getting more and more convinced that it's a bug... but wonder if it is already-known, has a workaround, or a fix in newer firmware?
