Cisco VPN :: SA 540 Drops Wan Connectivity After Some Time Interval
May 1, 2012
after a certain period of time (ranging from 2 minutes to several hours) the unit keeps dropping the WAN connection, making the unit unaccessible from the WAN side. The strange thing is, that when the connection is dropped, the unit is perfectly accessible from the LAN side, the WAN LED is still on, status info shows the WAN link up, and packet trace shows broadcasted traffic on the WAN interface, so only the directed communication to and from the ISPs gateway (configured to fix IP) seems to be blocked for some reason. When this happens, then plugging the WAN cable to the Optional WAN port enables traffic again, but it is also dropped after some time, and then only power cycling the unit restores WAN connectivity.

I have CiscoWorks 3.1.
1. When creating job or log file, these files are always stored in the default Path (inside LMSROOT) for RME for example...Could I change RME default Path to store these files in another location inside the Hard Disk?
2. Could I Configure CW-LMS to send all the reports to me by mail?
3. What is the Difference between Poll Interval time and Collection time inside RME?

I am using a desktop computer and have the router downstairs so I am using a wireless usb to connect to the internet. My router is a Linksys E1000 and the wireless adapter is a Netgear WG111v2. The problem is Every few mins I drop connection for may 5-30 secs and then the internet is fine. During that time it does not say I only have local connection or anything like that it constantly says I have internet connection even when I dont. It is very noticable when i am playing an online game on my computer. I will get a few mins in and then it will drop kicking me out of the game and by the time I get kicked out my Internet is reconnected and I can join again.

I can install things, run CCleaner, and do other basic tasks. I've been stumped about this issue for months and after repeated, and failed, attempts to resolve it via the ISP. I've done searches via Google, this website, and all the other places I can think of, so hopefully I didn't miss a solution to my problem. When playing games online, my internet connection will occasionally drop for 5-8 seconds, every 5-10 minutes. Sometimes, the game will allow me to reconnect after a short lag spike. Other times, I must meet a breakpoint for getting booted, and I'll have to leave the game.

For some reason, certain activities, such as using Bittorrent and visiting specific sites, causes my connection to drop immediately. It stays down for five minutes, after which the connection is reestablished... but if the offending progam is still running or I try to refresh the site, it drops for another five minutes.I really need to know what is causing this, and how it can be avoided. It only started this last weekend (22/1, 2011), and my ISP says they have no problems on their end. I'm running Windows 7.

So, I just upgraded my mobo/cpu (Z77A-G45 and i5-2500k) and I'm having an issue with my connection as it seems to drop every 5 to 15 minutes constantly and have no idea what exactly is wrongThe kicker is my old mobo did the same thing and I had to do something in win7 to fix it (not sure if it was the drivers or what) but I just can't remember what exactly.

I have a problem with my internet connection. It started some weeks ago and i called my ISP , they checked my phone line and they said that everything is working correctly. They said that the problem might be my router.I bought a new router ( ZTE ZXV10 W300 V5.2 ) but the problem persists. I changed all the cables tried using the internet without any telephone device connected to my phone line , i changed antivirus program ( from norton to avast ) It just wont stop dropping! My ISP told me that the problem might be a program from my computer.Note that the connection mostly drops when im playing online games but it drops when im surfing too.By the way, can the reason of the internet drops be a virus? url...[code]

This computer is brand new Dell Inspiron 15R. The WIFI is dropping out repeatedly. I connect for ~10 minutes, but then the connection gets a yellow exclamation point for limited connectivity, and I can't reconnect until rebooting the router. I read the sticky but there wasn't a post for the 2230 network card.
The problem happened on windows 7 and now on windows 8. Rebooting the computer doesn't work. I tried the POWER SAVE trick and it didn't work. I tried the maximum roaming trick, and that didn't work either. The network card is the Centrino Wireless-N 2230 with the 15.5.6.48 drivers.
I can connect to the Verizon Wireless router or tether off my DROID X2 for about ten minutes, sometimes for longer, but either way, the connection is dropped, and I can't reconnect until rebooting the router.

I am using linksys cisco wag120n adsl2 modem router. When I start the router the internet speed seems great but after some time the speed drops miserably. When I again restart the router the speed seems great for few mins but again drops after sometime. It happens in both LAN and wireless mode. The firmware version of the router is 1.00.16
I was going through the problems posted by some other user but observed that cisco people are not heraing to them.Seems made a mistake by associating with cisco product. This is the worst router I have ever used. The wireless also gets disconnected abruptly.Next time I'll avoid cisco.Cisco is all about stone age products and zero customer care.

This is a bit of a pain as the behaiviour is not consistent. whenever I connect to the Device webpage a number of things may happen
1. There is no connection - the page tries to load but never does. While this happens the router drops the ADSL connection and re-connects. I have to close the browser session and try again later. OR
2. The Browser session connects but at some point after the connection, say when I am trying to save changes or even just browsing through the config pages the session hangs, and again the router drops the ADSL connection and re-connects. I have to close the session and try again later.
I have noticed this happens when I use my OpenSuse 11.4 Linux Box using Firefox 5 or even using my Win 7 Box using IE9.

Quick Specs:- Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium
- Wireless Card: Intel Centrino Wireless N 2230
Issue: Whenever I close my lid, my wireless connectivity drops by around 80+%. When using speedtest.net, I normarlly download at 5 megabits/s and upload at 1, but with my lid closed, I download at less then 0.4 and upload surprisingly at 0.8. My downloads and torrents basically grind to a halt, multiplayer gaming becomes difficult and websites/youtube/videos take much longer to load. I can check all these figures as I'm using an external monitor.I have tried a lot of things to improve connectivity including setting everything to high performance, disabling power saving modes, setting roaming to aggressive/high and updating drivers.

I have a cisco 7600. It will send an icmp request every second. If the icmp response is not received, 3 consecutive icmp requests will be sent. SLA reachability down will be reported after all 4 icmp responses are not received. The following diagram illustrates my goal.
Sender --------------------------------------- 0 second -> 0 sec (1st icmp Request is sent out)-> 50ms (no response, send 2nd icmp after timeout)-> 50ms (no response, send 3rd icmp after timeout) -> 50ms (no response, send 4th icmp after timeout) 50ms Report SLA reachability down
--------------------------------------- 1 second
--------------------------------------- 2 second
Question: will the following configuration achieve my goal?
ip sla 100icmp-echo 10.32.24.1 source-ip 10.32.24.2timeout 50frequency 1
ip sla monitor reaction-configuration 100 react timeout threshold-type consecutive 3 action-type triggerOnly

I have a new WRVS4400N configured with a site to site VPN to connect to my office. At the office, we're running a Cisco PIX 515E. I have successfully established an IKE preshared key and the tunnel is listed as Up. I can successfully connect through the VPN tunnel into the office network through the tunnel and all seems good. After some period of time, the tunnel apparently goes into a bad state. Access to the office network is no longer available. When looking at the VPN status screen, the Linksys indicates that the tunnel is up. However, I cannot ping any resources on the office lan. If I disconnect and connect the site to site VPN tunnel, it connects and comes back up successfully. It seems like there is some sort of timeout taking place here. I am running the 1.1.03 firmware.

We have a problem with our WS-C3560V2-24TS running IOS c3560-ipservicesk9-mz.122-53.SE2.bin. The equipment keep dropping packets for no apperent reason.
This is what we are seeing:
LAN-port
Router0#sh interfaces fastEthernet 0/2 | include drops:
Input queue: 0/75/0/0 (size/max/drops/flushes); Total output drops: 20595
WAN-port
[Code]....
We are shaping the gig uplink to 100Mbps, the equipment is dropping pakets randomly and not because the shaper kicks in and starts to drop pakets.

just found your site poking around for some information. I'm pretty green with routing and firewalling so I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction.I'm trying to setup a remote access VPN for the off site employees we have. I would eventually like to have this setup to use either the cisco VPN client or the webVPN option, but this question is about my VPN client setup.I'm using a Cisco ASA 5505 at the head end and the Cisco VPN client 5.0.06.0160 on the client side.In the logs the client authenticates, grabs an IP, DNS and domain info and then drops the connection.

I have a 887 setup as a EasyVPN server, and a 861 as an EasyVPN remote - network extension mode with split tunnelling. This works fine - I can ping and connect to machines across the tunnel. However if I setup a VOIP handset to connect across the tunnel it registers and calls work, but drop after 30secs....I know this is normally a firewall or nat problem, are easyvpns firewalled or natted?

I have an RV042 connected via VPN to the office (to a LinkSys DFL-700). Sometimes the VPN is dropped and never activates again. In this state, if I try to connect to the WEB interface, I can log in, but the router hangs at the login screen. I have to power recycle the router to make it work again.
Updated to latest firmware 4.2.1.02 for V3 hardware. The funny thing is that services from the WEB routed through to local IP adresses on the lan is still accessible. I have setup PPPT VPN on the router, and that also fails to work.
Is there, as a workaround, any possibility to access the routers reset page or access via TELNET to reset the router? This migth be useful, when I'm out. (I have a backup solution to access the local network at home).

I've been having a major problem with our Internet service. Our ISP insists it's the firewall.
I'm not a Pix expert by any means, but here's what's happening:
- Our Internet service drops.
- When this happens I try to ping the PIX on the inside interface and it times out.
- Our Internet service comes back up and I am able to ping the Pix.
- I connect to the Pix and issue a SHOW INTERFACE command to look for errors. I FIND NONE.
