Nov 8, 2011Is it possible to use one port on a cisco 837 ADSL Router as a wan port and others as LAN Ports if we don't want to use its ATM Interface?

Jun 9, 2013We have an ASA 5505. 5505 comes with two default vlans 1&2 with each of them marked as inside & outside respectively.My query is , if i do not want to use vlans on 5505 and only want to use the Ethernet ports as pure physical layer 3 ports, is it possible?i.e. i want to assign a layer 3 ip address on eth0/0 and eth0/1 and make them as the inside & outside interfaces rather than vlans. is it possible to do away with vlans in 5505 & will it work otherwise?

May 14, 2013Is there a way to associate spare firewall ports with another port that is being used..For example...int gi 0/2 is being used currently for my web dmz. Its ip is 192.168.10.1..Is there a way for me to associate gi 0/3 with the same layer 2 as gi 0/2 ?
In my webdmz I use 2 ACE 4710 proxys in FT mode. I used a layer 2 switch to connect firewall and proxys together.
I would like to eliminate this switch if possible..and connect both 4710's (layer 2) direct to firewall.If I could make gi0/2 - 4 part of the same vlan, then I would be good to go.

Sep 26, 2012We just got a new ASA5510 (straight out of the box). I’m new to the Cisco but feel we followed the directions. We connect to the management port and have our workstation set to get an ip via dhcp. A cat5 is connected to the management port, that goes into a hub (tested to work) and a cat5 is connected from the hub to the workstation (tested to work). Nothing else is connected. The workstation does not get an ip address. (assigns APIPA) Both the 5510 and workstation have been rebooted.The workstation works otherwise. We have also connected both a crossover and straight through cable from the 5510 to the workstation. We have statically assigned an ip of 192.168.1.2 to the workstation and cannot ping the cisco (192.168.1.1).

I have noticed that when i do a port scan on the outside nat pool i see well know ports in the closed state .ie...7,21,22,23,25,99,100,80,443. These pools for end users to access internet. Does this pose a security risk? What can i change to provide end user access to web but not let these well know ports open?

Mar 27, 2012How does the ESW 500 or SF300 line guarantee QoS of voice traffic when trunking switch to switch? I have (2) ESW 500 series switches in series. The phone on switch 1 have no audio issues, but the phones on switch 2 (the last in the series) have intermittent voice quality issues when dialing across a WAN circuit to another office. The phone on switch 1 do not have that issue though they traverse the same circuit. They are all using the same VLAN 100.

May 17, 2011I have an issue with connecting my OPTEMAN 100mb handoff to the 3750 ME ES ports. Because the ES ports will only accept gig connections, I am unable to use the ES ports.
Is there a work-around? It's too costly to have the OPTEMAN changed over to a GIG hand off and I really don't want to put in another piece of equipment to use the ES ports.
Is there a way to have the traffic flow into a 100mb port ont the 3750 and then over to the ES port?

Let's say I need to find maximum number of PRIs I can connect on a C3945.
I see that I could buy for example (4) VWIC3-4MFT-T1/E1. The C3945 comes with (4) EHWICs where such VWIC3-4MFT-T1/E1 cards can be inserted. Since each VWIC3 has (4) ports each, that would be total of 16 PRIs.
Then let's say I want to put more Service Modules and allow me to expand it further. The C3945 can support up to (4) service modules.
If I want to put the maximum number of PRIs possible, is it right I could install (4) NM-8CE1T1-PRI. That would give me maximum of 48 PRIs in a C3945.

I want to rules out any possible VPN issues that may be blocking ports and wanted to see if there is an easy way to do this and simply allow all traffic without any restrictions between the two ASAs. I've attached the scrubbed configs here...Ewing is the primary site and DBSi is the DR site.

I have a Polycom HDX H.323 device connected to it with a static IP of 10.10.10.5 (ethernet port 0).Previously I had a consumer grade Linksys router which worked fine (I simply entered ports into the GUI), but I couldn't hardcode LAN port speed so I bought this. I have the list of TCP and UDP ports which are forwarded using the following commands:

Cisco WAN :: 1841 With Two FastEthernet Ports
Mar 26, 2013I am having the most difficult time trying to setup the Cisco 1841 with a new Fiber Optic ISP. I have no experience with Cisco equipment but have taught myself some basics. All my attempts have ended with failure. I definitely will be taking some cisco courses soon.
Our current setup
20mbs Fiber Optic ISP
- They are providing us a x.x.129.233/30 WAN IP and a x.x.131.225/27 Public IP Block Cisco 1841 Router (Which has no configuration at all, it was wiped by the ISP) 1x HP Procruve 2610 24 port Gigabit Switch
What we need is simple, we just need to distribute the Public IP block through to the LAN on the switch side. I would post a config if I had one already made, but the 1841 is a clean slate. I just wiped it again to start fresh.
Cisco :: LMS 4 - Histograph / Ports Not In Available Instances
Nov 1, 2011CPU and memory graps are showing up in pollers on left of Monitoring page.
When trying to graph switchports using histo graph, some ports show up in Available instances, but most are ports that are in admin down.
I do not have the capability to graph the ports I want to see.
