I have a problem and I dont know much on Cisco Products
The router is Cisco 887 VA
When it starts the Leds Ok AND Fe lan are blinkng then are always on .After 10 seconds lan led is off a and pc shows cable is unplugged
I tried all ports and same thing happened .I tried with different ethernet cord but the problem persists
I installed Cisco Configuration Professional and it hangs on Retrieving Port
I need to configure a Cisco 887va router for a customer with a firewall that doesn't support PPPoA. I basically need to ensure all traffic that is recieved from the internet (ADSL connection) is NAT'd to a LAN interface so the firewall can do the specific NATing. I have the following route map and NAT rule in mind, but what I am confused about is that if the atm0 interface needs to be configured as the outside interface and vlan2 as the inside interface. How will the following work?

There are a few 100Mbit/s ports on the router; I was wondering whether it was possible to use more than one port to provide aggregation to get higher speed such as two ports providing 200Mbit/s? I was using the config of an old Cisco router as a guide, basically this has encapsulation aal5snap under the ATM interface, I am unable to set this in the 887va, I did read that this needs to be set under the VDSL controller however it will not take the commands. Also how can I set the the dsl operating-mode to auto.

difference of CISCO887VA-K9 and CISCO887VA-SEC-K9.I thought it because of the Advanced Security and Advanced IP Licenses, but it isn't, I've got the -SEC- Version now just with the Advanced Security license. So I asking myself why I bought the more expensive CISCO887VA-SEC-K9 if I have to buy the additional Advanced IP Services licenses extra..
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have a switch containing 48 connections. I have a patch panel that links to lots of access points in my building. One access point was not connected but needed to be but I didn't have any spare switch ports. I therefore reconnected switch 23 from one position (and thus one access point) to another position on the patch panel. Everything worked fine and this new location had network and internet access. Then however a few weeks later I had to change it back so i changed the connection of port 23 to the old position on the patch panel. When i did so port 23 showed a red light and then no light. Later I had to change it back to the other location but when i did so port 23 now shows no light whatsoever. It's as if the connection port just stopped working. Now both the old and new access point locations have no connection and I can't understand why.I tried rebooting the server but no luck. I tried connecting that access point through the patch panel to a different connection port but still no luck.

2nd thing I can ping both ips of My server through private ip and through public ip.
I have setup a Cisco SR520W and everything appears to be working. After a few hours, it looks like the WAN port stops forwarding traffic to the Internet gateway IP of the device.
If I unplug and then plug in the network cable connecting the WAN port of the SR520W to my the modem, traffic startings flowing again. Also, if I restart the SR520W, the traffic will flow again.

I replace the faulty moldule with the working one but now the new (good) module's first 12 ports stopped working. But when I insert the good card (the replaced one with the faulty) in other chassis it works fine.

I am trying to test the gigabit ports on a Cisco 2950 switch. 1000Base-SX. I have the internet or dhcp server connected to port 24 on the first switch and my pc hooked up to the (any) port on the second switch. Both switchs are connected with a fiberoptic cable with MTRJ connectors on either side.
Now when I use gi0/2 on both switchs all works fine. I get a dhcp address from the router on the other end of the first switch. but when ever I include gi0/1 on either end of the fiber optic cable neither of the ports will initialize (neither of the leds above the ports light up). I have deleted all the config files before booting up the switchs so they should have a default blank configuration.
When looking at the Http web page for the switch I dont see any issues with the port. what can I do to make sure these ports are working or can be configured?
I will not be able to post back any more information about the switch until next tuesday. Im off till then.

It is found that from the begining itself its 12th and 24th ports are not working. enable these ports in all switches.
I have two switches, WS-3750-24PS-S connected in two cabs via fiber. Patch panels at both ends with patch leads. Used tester to confirm end to end fiber connectivity. When plugged in, one switch lights up the other does nothing.
Ports are as follows:

same at both ends. Tried both GI ports same result. swapped transceivers over and the same result, (one switch lit one not - the same switch in both cases). put both transceiver in each switch, (gi0/1-0/2 in a single switch). on the one that lights up in the original scenario we get link on both ports and they come up, on the other nothing happens. shut down both ports on the malfunctioning switch and no shut them, no change.
Show transceivers doesn't show transceivers on the malfunctioning switch, and no attempt is made to bring the ports up if the fiber is removed and replaced.
it is almost as though the two gb ports are kaput. Anything else I can try?
I have a linksys BEFSR41 V.2 router with four ports. Ports #1 and #3 are working but the other two do not. The diag. light just blinks rapidly.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded to an E4200 from a D-Link DIR-655. I cannot seem to get my desktop to connect to the E4200 at 1 GBS. My adapter is set to "auto negotiate" but will only connect at 100 MBS. If I try forcing the adapter setting to 1 GBS, it never connects. I can swap out my E4200 with the DIR-655 and it will connect at 1 GBS just fine. I am using a CAT 5E cable. Is there something I'm missing here or is the E4200 just more finicky than the the DIR-655?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Cisco Catalyst 4507R+E (with Sup7-E) and two blades; one WS-X4748-RJ45V+E and one WS-X4648-RJ45-E.
When I connect a device to a port on the WS-X4748-RJ45V+E blade the port will not come up, show interface shows the status as "notconnect". When I connect the same device to the WS-X4648-RJ45-E blade the interface comes up.
The WS-X4748-RJ45V+E blade seems to have initialised okay, it appears in the output of "show module" as OK.
I get exactly the same effect on a second, identically configured Catalyst 4507R+E.
The software version is IOS XE 3.1.0SG, which according to the release notes supports the WS-X4748-RJ45V+E blade
I've lost connectivity with all but one of the ethernet ports on my E4200 router. My desktop PC was connected to Port 1 but stopped working. Network troubleshooting via my Windows 7 Dell 8300 said I was not connected and to check the cable. I did that with several different cables and tried the usual router and modem reset. Only through trial and error did I find that I could connect to port 4 which is why I am able to write this post. What could have changed to disable ports 1-3 and can I get them working again? No issues with wireless connectivity.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have set up my network to pass ethernet (layer 2) traffic accross an adsl connection to another 887va router. this link is set up as a L2TP. I have a PC at one end of the tunnel and a web ranger that operates at layer 2 level. I can see the layer 2 traffic entering the router from the PC however it does not seem to go over the L2 tunnel to the other router.
I also need to know what debug codes I can enter to see if the data is being filtered and if so why?the debug L2TP gives the following output:

I've got a brand new C887VA-W-E-K9 that is up and running on a BT VDSL connection. That side of it is fine... But the integrated AP module on it keeps reloading.. I can be on the AP console reading the config via 'sh run' and suddenly it'll be loading the OS again... There's no errors logged, no errors on the console or anything... (I also have yet to get the radio working, it starte dbefore I'd finished the config).
It doesn't seem to be anything I'm doing as if I just leave the console, it'll just sit there... reloading every few minutes... (Although sometimes it seems to stay up for longer).
The console just looks like this. WHich is taken from listing the running config and while sitting at the --more-- prompt... Bang...

I am struggling to get this working after spending many hours looking at it I am now completely stuck. We are upgrading from a 857W to this 887 VA-M I have some experience of IOS and the 800 series. Our 857W works perfectly using almost the same config. Our situation is that the router will sit in front of our firewall and act essentially as a simple router passing everything through to our Firewall. Nat is done at the Firewall.
We currently have the following configuration that seems to connect the the ISP fine but I cannot connect to the vlan2 port on the switch the firewall cannot connect to he internet or route anything via the Vlan2 port no pings etc.. I am using Fast Ethernet 0 as the Vlan2 port and the rest are V LAN 1 with a local network address to allow me to connect a laptop.
We have a block of static IP addresses, the base of which is assigned to the V LAN 2 interface and used by Dialer 0 as IP Unnumbered. Config below.

I'm facing an issue since 2 month now , no one is able to tell me what's going on. The line goes down suddently for 2 or 3 minutes and this happens everyday at the same range (~2 or 3 hours) of time . I don't have any scheduled task to cause this. ISP in his side has also made some tshoot but found nothing and is convinced that the problem is coming from our side :
