Mar 24, 2011I have 3845 Router with HWIC-4ESW & I am trying to apply MQC on SVI interface but I keep getting configuration Error!-RTR(config-if)#service-policy output XYZ_WAN_QOS Configuration failed I believe that HWIC-4ESW is Layer 2 port & you can not apply Module Qos on SVI interface. I am exploring other option.

Jun 5, 2012I have a customer that in the past has been using 6506E chassis with Sup32 and the WS-X6196-21AF cards for their closet.With the End of Sale of this combination and the announced End of Sale of the Sup720-3B announced, this kind of pushes the configuration to a Sup 2T.BUT the SUP 2T does not support these low speed high density cards.
Is there a card coming that will address need? Customer generally has had dual sup32's and 3 to 4 cards of the 96port AF.They stock spares besides haveing smartnet on the boxes or moving to a different platform like the 4510R+ or stacks of switches will mess them up.

Oct 22, 2012We're looking for Cisco switches with the following attributes to serve as the core switches in a production network:1U (or close), fixed config20 or more 1GbE copper ports4 or more 1/10GbE fiber ports (SFP+)Not ridiculously expensive So far the closest fit we've found for these requirements is the SG500X-24. However, since the SG500X-24 is a "small business" switch we're concerned that the reliability may not be up to the levels of Cisco's enterprise switches, the support level may not be sufficient, the 12MB packet buffer may not be enough to support wire-speed operation (or efficient communication between hosts on 1GbE and 10GbE ports), and so on. But in looking through Cisco's entire current switch line (a daunting task...) this seems to be the switch that best fits the specifications above. So, some more appropriate switch that fits the listed requirements?s why the SG500X-24 would be a poor choice for a production network? Have you had positive experiences with using the SG500X-24 as a mission-critical switch?

Feb 5, 2013I have 3560's in my current environment, operating in the core/distro/access layers. The switches are in a star configuration, performs only layer 2 switching, and utilizes copper (no plans on moving to fiber).
With a fairly limited budget, I've been contemplating on upgrading the central node to a stacked 3750X to eliminate that single point of failure, and trunk the rest of the 3560's to the stacked switch. I wanted to be sure that the 3750X switches will be right for my environment (90-100 hosts), and if what I explained above is a good solution.
I'm also looking like to upgrade 6-7 of my servers (and SAN) with 10GB network cards. Do the ports on the 3750X have port densities capable of 10GB? If not, what switches provide that capability?

Jul 28, 2011Today I purchased a Gatway laptop from Best Buy. Here is all the information NV51B15U, 4GB DDR3 Memory, AMD Dual-Core Processor E-350, 250 GB HDO. My internet is Virgin Mobile EVDO Mobile Broadband. I have know knowledge of computers or this USB internet I have. When I try to go onto Youtube to watch videos the video will play for about 2 sec stop and starts to buff the play then stop and so on. I have java and flash player 10 installed. I was told that I may need to go through another internet provider as the speed from the USB cord will never get any faster. Is this true? Is there something I can do to be able to watch videos without having to wait 10-15 minutes for it to load?

Feb 19, 2011I have one hub router connected to an ISP cloud and then a spoke router connected to the same ISP cloud. There is a dmvpn connection from the spoke to the hub router and i have attempted to do a few tests from the spoke to the hub router.
When i do a ping from the wan interface (tunnel source) of the spoke router to the wan interface (tunnel source) of the hub router i get a return time of about 700ms on the average. However when i ping from the LAN of the spoke to the LAN side of the HUB, my return time increases to 1000ms and sometimes as high as 3000ms. I suspect the hughes modem HN7700 on the wan side of my spoke to be the cause of the problem.

Apr 4, 2013I want a low cost solution router with 16 10/100 routed ports...The idea is to club 16 different segments on ofc to this router via media convertor and there will be dynamic protocols such as EIGRP or higher running between these segments.
The router needs to be security enabled...the equipments needs to be a router by defination (not a layer 3 switch)..As per my understanding there is limitation on number of HWIC-2 FE that can be put in ISR G2 series due to which I cannot reach that figure...
Kindly let me know if i can use SM-ES3-16-P in the place of HWIC-2FE for this kind of requirement.
