Apr 15, 2013Have two switches configured and running 2 links to each other that are in a port channel. Now, I cannot get the 1 of the ports (Gi1/0/50) to come up at all, I've had the cable tested and replaced SFPs both ends. Switch A is a WS-C3750G-48TS and I believe the problem could be here, the last for GBIC ports, 2 of them we are using as links to Switch B in a port channel. Here is the config for both and the 'show int status' for both.

May 18, 2010We inserted a new module with 48 rj45 ports in a 4500 with just one supervisor module. We have two 4500, and we tried the new model in the other 4500 and it´s working properly and giving a OK status. Furthermore, the module´s LED status is green. We saw that there are 8 ports (from 17 to 24) that are in faulty state, so probably this is the cause for the faulty state for the module.
We tried already a Hw reset, replace/insert again the module...
We are almost sure that it can be a Hw failure. We are getting the following results different commands:

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 N 2.4 GHz Substandard - Faulty And Defective?
Jul 22, 2011I try to connect my IPod touch to the wireless router E4200 Firmware 1.0.02 build 13 and I got this error Unable to join the network “n2”.This is my 2.4 GHz Wireless Settings:
Network Mode: Wireless-N only
Network Name (SSID): n2
Channel Width: Auto
Channel: 9 – 2.452GHZ
Security Mode: WPA2
I spoke with customer service and I went through all the setting change possible without success, she told me maybe the problem was with my iPod and I have to call apple customer service. I can connect the iPod to my old wireless router successfully with not issues, using 2.4 GHZ only N Wireless Settings.The another issue I is when I use 2.4 GHz N is not connecting with a good speed (Max speed 64 Mbps) I know my pc have a max of 300 Mbps and again when I connected using old wireless I get max speed. I analyze all spectrum around the router is located; I change the channel to the one that are not in use for another router. Same speed, no improve of performance.
I found in the report from the Wi-Fi spectrum analyzer said band N 5 GHz max rate 450 Mbps that is the speed that is supposed to be, but for 2.4 GHz N max rate 144 Mbps, so there is a problem with the router that is no giving the right speed and standard specification for band 2.4 GHz N. I did same test with older firmware release and same issue. I tried all setting possible and I get same outcome, no iPod connection and low speed rate with a max of 144 Mbps (It’s supposed to be 300 Mbps)
Linksys Wired Router :: E1200 Speed Test Faulty?
Dec 3, 2012I installed an E1200 router today. It automatically upgraded the firmware to the latest when I did this. Everything went smoothly.
I connected my desktop wired and my laptop wireless. I ran three different speed tests: Xfinity, speedtest, and cnet. All three showed 25-35 Mbps download and 4-5 Mbps upload. That is what my old router had too. So far, so good.
I ran the speed test that came with the E1200 router. It showed 0.30- 0.66 Mbps download and 0.58 - 2.09 Mbps upload. Note the decimal points!
Bottom line: The E1200 seems to be working fine, except that its internal speed test seems to be broken, at least when testing from a wired machine.

In next program that just keeps trying to auto repair the connection and never displays any radio button option the direction state like "advanced settings".At the very least your PDF should match your user friendly **bleep** ware!The instructions even refer to itself wrong! It states "for manual set up go use browser connection section" then in that section it describes an auto set up and instructs you to follow the set up steps on the CD.

When I unplug the CONSOLE cable our Internet shuts off.I would expect that of the ethernet cable, but not of a console cable.I'm an experienced network tech, but not a Cisco guy. Am I missing something? Is this type setup typical of a Pix?

Jun 21, 2011I have an 837 ADSL router that the customer is upgrading from a 3 meg circuit to a 10 meg circuit.
The previous vendor used PPOE for connection and we used a dialer 1 interface to make the connection with a user name and password.
The new connection is a straight WAN DHCP no username or password needed.
I realize I can change the dialer interface from negotiate to DHCP but do I still need it ?
Can I replace the dialer 1 interface with IRB ? Should i just keep the Dialer 1 interface since the device is currently set that way and just remove the PPP negotiation from dialer 1 ?

I use 2 Ubiquiti Unifi UAP-Pro APs in my home for WIFI access, so I have the WIFI aspect of my home network covered completely. All wiring in my home is either Cat5e or Cat6, my switch is a gigabit HP ProCurve 1810G-24, and my cable modem is a Motorola SB6120 (Comcast cable broadband). I have 7 IP cameras (security system), 4 streaming media players, several PCs, a server, and several other network connected devices. I am the only resident.
I am looking to maximize my WAN to LAN (& LAN to WAN) throughput while maintaining a very secure network. I also want the router to have reliable VPN. If it is a wireless router, I would most likely not utilize the WIFI feature, probably turning off the WIFI radios and just use the router functionality.
I don't have the time/patience to build a PFSense (or similar) box and learn the software, so am only considering an off-the-shelf solution. Yes I know that PFSense and Untangle are great, I simply don't have time to learn them presently or in the foreseeable future.So, which router for wired performance and security would you recommend?

May 22, 2013We have the following connection based in the services provided by our local telephone company, the connection arrives to a router Cisco 800 series. From the router, i send it connection to a switch SRW2024 v1.2 (Business series) 24-Port 10/100/1000 Gigabit Switch with webview. That switch is useful to send connection via RJ45 for a few of PCs. Then, I send connection to a switch SRW2008P (Business series) 8-port 10/100/1000 Gigabits with vieweb and power over ethernet. The last switch, send the signal via RJ45 to seven WAP2000 (business series) Wireless-G AP with PoE.
That network is running fine, but I've some problems to cover some areas within the building and sometimes the signal is really poor. The cable RJ45 between the PoE switch and each AP is no longer than 50 meters and each one with antennes about 8 or 9 Db.
So, now I've the possibility to change the access point for a power devices.

Nov 15, 2012I had an issue yesterday with no internet access on my desktop computer; the message said "Network cable unplugged" so I called AT&T tech support for assistance. I have 2 Dell computers; a desktop and a laptop which I use wirelessly in the house.After doing several things from disconnecting the router to try and determine if the problem was with my router or an ethernet cable AT&T determined a port on my router which is 6 years old could be going bad and recommended I replace my router.I contacted Linksys yesterday; spoke to tech support for my WRT54G router and was given 2 model recommendations. One was a Model E900 N300 and a more expensive model; an EA2700 N600. There is a price difference of $40.00 USD between the 2 models. I could probably get by with the E900 N300 for $49.99 but the guy at Linksys was putting the pressure on me to buy the more expensive one for $89.99. I told him I'd have to think about it.

Jul 12, 2011I have recently purchased a Cisco 887w router for my small business to replace our Netgear DGN-3500. We have made the change to allow greater access to our internal IT infrastructure from remote locations. For the most part I have been able to work through the configuration but I have reached a point now where I can go no further. The WLAN, LAN and WAN all seem to be working well together as a basic setup but I cannot get any port forwarding/NAT to work.
So far I have attempted to configure two NATd services, both with the same result. I am trying to direct port 80 through to our web server, and port 444 to our VPN server. Both seem to undergo translation ok (if i am reading ip nat trans output correctly) but then the packets disappear. The VPN client annouces that the connection timed out, and the browser goes nowhere. Also, if i use an online port check it tells me that 80 and 444 are closed, with no packets returned.
I have spent a few days with no progress. The output of the log (attached txt file) might be meaningfull to somone with a stronger background with Cisco routers... I have also included the config and some other output that might be useful.

Jun 26, 2012i am trying to use teh ACE to replace an apache based load balancer in an jboss application cluster. I am using L7 loadbalancing to load balance between multiple components. the way these jboss application servers work with apache is that.When the jboss application starts up on the on application cluster, it issues a GET opencase/webservices/config-service?wsdl to the loadbalancer IP.The apache based LB in turn talks to the same box on port 8009 via ajp retrieves the configuration file and provides it back to the application on port 80.And after 2 has completed the Jboss application comes up. Basically to start the application the Apache loadbalacer will accept requests from the its target list and load balance the request back to them itself.Not sure how i can use the ACE to accomplish this. attached are my topology (logical) and the ace configuration. from my topology file -- the net-cms-1 will issue a get request to teh VIP (on the ace), the ACE accepts the connection but soon resets it.
