View 2 Replies View RelatedI heard that the WS-C3560E-24PD-S and the WS-C3750-48PS-S have a limitation on the number of 7945s supported (ie i can only run 10 or 15 on each switch before the power runs out). Any knowledge with these pieces of equipment verify the maximum supported? I'm having trouble finding documentation showing any maximums.

But is it possible to set a bandwidth limit on the ports of a Cisco Catalyst 2960-8TC, so that we can set a limit of 3,3 and 4 on 3 ports.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a 1721 router with 3 equal routes to 0.0.0.0, using CEF for load balancing with universal load balancing algorithm. It doesn`t NAT, just routing. I wonder which is the maximum capacity of the router, since it should support up to 40000 connections to different destination IP. Is the limit set by the router resources (CPU, memory, ...) or a maximum limit of entries in the table FIB / RIB?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI would like to define a general policy for our company to set the log buffer ("logging buffered xxx"). Currently, most of our configs use the default value of 4096, which does not store much of the history. I'd like to see more, when logged onto a router. We are using different router platforms (from old 1700 up to 39xx oder 72xx) Can you give me any hints, how large the buffer can be set on a platform? Which checks should I do to determine, how large I can set the buffer?
Here's an example of a Cisco 1720 router:
Cisco1720#sh mem
Head Total(b) Used(b) Free(b) Lowest(b) Largest(b)
Processor 81AECE9C 17803244 5548816 12254428 12010916 11815908
I/O 2B43000 4968448 1560416 3408032 3374144 3396668
Cisco says: "Total = the total amount of memory available after the system image loads and builds its data structures."So, in this example, the total bytes are 17803244, which is ~ 16.9 Mbyte. So, if I allocate 64000 bytes, my total buffer will decrease to ~16,3 Mbyte.
I my calculation above is correct, I see no problem in defining a standard value of "logging buffered 64000" for every router platform - even under high load conditions. Since 64 kbytes is a very small value compared to the total usable memory of a Cisco 1720, newer platforms should not have any problems either.
I have a BT Home Hub 3 and quite often get messages "cannot connect to network". I have many (>20) devices connected. Have I reached the limit? With four kids in the house the pressure to connect even more devices is growing.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a wrt54gt running firmware 1.0.04 in my house. I have about 30-40 wifi devices.. Mostly smartphones connecting to the router. If i look at the dhcp table there is about 35 computers listed. The router is running on channel 2.
Lately ive noticed that certain devices can not connect after they are powered up.. It could be a tablet, pc or smartphone. Most will error out saying they cant connect. If i turn off a working device then the newly powered on device can connect. It seems like i have reached a limit.
Setting a failing device to static ip does not work, the device never succesfully associates. I tried upping the dhcp pool to 100 from 50. Is this just a limitation of the router? Is there another router that i can buy that will work for me?
I read that there are internal and external flash memory in 3725 router that can max up to 128mb. So adding the sizes of internal and external flash memory, will that total to 256mb?

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy EA4500 with the latest firmware will only display nine connected devices at a time. It also seems to randomly shuffle which devices to show as connected, even though several more than nine are connected and online. Does anyone else's device list limit itself to displaying only nine devices? The Linksys phone apps also display a maximum of nine devices. I like the routers new user interface and understand that it has received a lot of praise, however this is the second bug I've experienced in as many months (the first being a failure of the device list to update once devices are upgraded to Windows 8, requiring a reset to default settings in order to fix).
View 5 Replies View RelatedBackground: currently have a WRT320N, thinking of upgrading to an EA4500 assuming ONE feature has been improved: Port Forwarding.
Scenario: Currently I have a WRT320N router, and while it "does everything we need" it has one limitation that is now getting in the way: limitation on number of forwardable ports. In the port forwarding panel, it has 15 total rows: the first five rows can be enabled for specificaly named services (SMTP, FTP, etc). The last 10 rows are fully customizable in that we can set the name, ports and protocol.
The problem is that of the 13 total ports I currently need to forward, only ONE of them is listed in that fixed list. So, sadly, I can only use one of those first five rows. I've now filled the remaining ten custom rows, and still have need for two additional ports (for now, may need more down the road).
Trying to get creative, I figured maybe I could just spill over to the Port Range Forwarding page and add a row or two there. The only problem: it's buggy. I've found that if the Single Port Forwarding list is filled, then the Port Forwarding Range entries don't work properly. For example, if I wanted ports 12345 and 12346 forwarded to 192.168.1.5, they work fine with two single port forwarding entries. However, if I delete those, add two other port lines I need forwarded (the single list being full again), and add a port forwarding range 12345..12346, they don't work properly, ports just are closed. Only the singles work, the ranges don't.
Question: Has the EA4500 resolved this issue and allow for either more lines (i.e. 20 customizable entries instead of 10), or, better, does it just have an [Add Entry] button to allow for additional rows to be created? In today's day and age, where one single device (such as an Xbox) can take four rows, a 10-row limit is pretty sparse. Comparing it to some competitors, for example the D-Link DIR-825 (aging, but still great) allows you to add as many as you want.
I realize "expensive" firewalls like SonicWall's have virtually unlimited customization, but I don't need many of the additional features and don't want to spend $350 on a "high-end" firewall to solve the problem of needing two more ports open.
I am running a wrt54g and I was woundering what is the longest rj45 cable length I can run?
I notice running about 30 plus feet connection does not work. When I cut off about 5 feet it worked. Seems I can only run a ceratin amount of cable length with this router.
I've bought a E4200 router because of it's "maximum performance". With the normal settings i have a wireless range of maximum 10 m in the building. after 5m I've got a low signal.I tested a cheap Netgear-router, which had the same range as the E4200 a 125 Euro.Is my E4200 broke or is it just a bad buy? The settings are standard (that shouldn't be the problem, I guess!?)

I have a bundle of 2 T1 into a multilink interface. However, I have encounter an issue, last week, our ISP lost one of the T1 and it went down hard for at leats two hours. Once the T1 came up, the bandwidth still was 1544, but once I shutdown and no shutdown command in one of the serial interface the bandwidth came up as 3074. Here is my basic config for the 2911 router. [code]
I just don't know why the router was not using the whole bandwidth of 3044.
I live in rural Alaska and use satellite internet with 1.5mbps rate and 4gb rolling weekly download limit. I was wondering if there are any wireless routers I can buy that I can set a bandwidth limit for the specific router. Due to teenage girls in the house we hit the weekly limit in a day or two because of all the music videos and such that they watch on you tube, it is annoying getting limited to the 256kbps download rate so often.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to use GNS to simulate this, but a bit difficult to achieve this. May I know can the Cisco Router handle below requirement? Example Cisco 2811
1) Bandwidth management based on IP Address or Subnet? For example; allocate 1Mbps (CIR) and 10Mbps (BIR) to 172.16.1.10
2) Can the Cisco Router control the inbound and outbound bandwidth?
3) Can you share the sample config?
I have just received Time Warner Cable and get 16Mbps down from them directly through their modem (motorola DOCSIS 2.0 modem- SB5101) to my PC (using speedtest.net). When I then connect TWC's modem through my 2801 router on fa0/0, the download rate I get is considerably slower (on the order of 3-4Mbps via same testing method). What am I missing?
Here is how the passthrough interface is setup:
interface FastEthernet0/0
bandwidth receive inherit
ip address dhcp
ip nat outside
ip virtual-reassembly in
duplex auto
speed auto
I have attempted removing bandwidth command - nothing changed with it not there. I have also hard coded the speed and duplex to 100/full to no avail....
Other possible relevant configs:
ip nat inside source list 1 interface FastEthernet0/0 overload
ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 dhcp
access-list 1 permit 192.168.1.0 0.0.0.255
Basically this things is wide open... for testing but the download speed differential is perplexing to me.
