View 3 RepliesI work as an administrator for a small business (~30pc and a Windows 2003 R2 server ).Recently, we started to have problem with our lan, the network start to kinda lock-up randomly. For example, browsing folders is fine then you switch to one and the explorer window just do nothing (with a loading cursor) and after 4 second everything refresh and work again, then in word or any other program (sometime not even related to network files/folder) you press the save button and it do the same, do nothing for 4-5 seconds then refresh and work again.I'm positive that no process on the server take up enough CPU time to do that, it's not a per-pc problem since everybody is affected when the problem start and when I reboot the server it work like a charm for another day then the problem may restart the next day.Nothing show up in the event viewer of both PCs and the server and we can't find a correlation between the problem and high CPU/LAN usage on the server (at worse CPU is used at 10% and LAN at 2%).Our RAID controller and our SAS HDs are working flawlessly, we're in the process to change our infrastructure anyway but since I can refer to people that may know their stuff way more than myself I though Id ask here.We first though that our switches may be in cause but then why rebooting the server would be correcting the problem ?
View 7 Replies View RelatedWe recently received the request to work on removing the entire NAC implementation from our enterprise. The major problem is that the security team in place now was not around when it was implemented a few years ago. Weve got about 1500 users, so its not going to be a small project to say the least. Fortunately for us, the team that set it up didn't do much with it. IT only really checks the user against AD and permits or quarantines the user/machine, that's it.

I am in charge of taking care our small office network (about 25 PC's) and encountered a problem the other day. I got a call that nothing network related was working. I went to look at the switches/router and everything appeared fine. After some troubleshooting i found if i unplugged the switch and connected directly the the router everything worked prefect. Reconnected the switch, network goes down again. I assumed it was the switch at first but then did a walk around and a laptop was in a weird frozen state. I unhooked the network cable and everything started working away like it should.

View 8 Replies View RelatedAfter recently setting up a new computer, my entire network seems to randomly loose internet connection. The interval between connection losses is as short as half an hour but it sometimes goes several hours without dying; the connections is lost for anywhere between 30 seconds and 20 minutes each time it dies.The new computer is running Windows 7 and is using a Roeswill USB wireless adapter, but I have tired it with a wire and the connection still dies. I am disinclined to believe that this is caused by a virus simply because this is a brand new computer that has had only minimal use; to be on the safe side, though, I did do virus scans with multiple programs, however, I did not find anything.When the connection is lost, a yellow exclamation appears on the task bar's internet access icon. If I check my available networks, my network still shows full strength. I have tried disconnecting and reconnecting but nothing happens; I don't get any "failure to connect" type errors nor do I get connection back. I have also tried physically removing the adapter/wire and plugging it back in, but that doesn't do anything either.
I am under the impression that the new Windows 7 computer is doing something to temporarily kill the entire network, but I don't know what.For the record, my modem is an old Motorola and my router is an old Netgear. Both are quite a few years old, but I don't think they are the problem as my internet was fine before I added the new Windows 7 computer. There are wired computers and wireless computers running XP, Vista, and 7 also on the network.
Shortly after creating a VPN connection on one of the computers, the network is turned off. The router remains powered on but no internet access or access between computers is possible. At first we put it to coincidence but after 3 times, we can't figure out what is happening.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have 2 computers on a network, and 3 devices that use wifi on the same network. Basically when ever computer A is connected, every single computer or device on the network runs extremely slow, if at all. I get anywhere between 1200-2000 ping on pingtest with 2-60% packet loss. Even the speed on the "infected" computer A downloads extremely slow. I'm at a loss for this problem, everything runs slow and its because of the one computer connected to it. I have virus software on this computer, but its not the best so i'm not ruling out malware or viruses right off the bat.
Devices: Blackberry, Iphone, macbook (all wifi)
Computer A
Runs windows xp 32 bit,
amd processor
onboard video

The internet modem runs to a router (Dlink dir615) then to a switch (or hub, if you will) and then to the 2 computers. The entire problem is solved by unplugging computer A from the system. But other than that I have no alternative.
If i use PPTP or OpenVPN does this encrypt my entire connection to the internet or just web browsing?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to block two URL's over the entire network via my E4200. I'm having a heck of a time doing this, I loginto my router via the browser (the web setup) (because I think Cisco Connect on the Mac is about the worst software ever written.) And I go to the Access Restrictions page. There I understand I'll have to use the Internet Access Policy pane to make some more advanced settings than the Parental Control.
I enter a name for my rule, so far so good. Enable it. Go to the applied PC page. Open the page to enter MAC adresses and IP's. I go to the IP Address Range field and entere in the box numbered 01; 192.168.2.2 to 192.168.2.51 which in my case is the enitre network. Save the setttings and close that window.
I don't set Access Restriction to deny becasue that seems to block the entire network.
So I go the the Website Blocking by URL Address option and enter the URL I want to block.
I don't do anything wiht the the Blocked Applications since I don't want to block a specific service or application. So I click Save Settings.
And yet when I go to the URL I want to block it doesn't work! [URL]
I have a belkin N300 router that works decent most of the time, but anytime my roommate connects with her macbook pro the whole network becomes slow to the point of uselessness. If i block her computer using mac address filtering, the latency and download speeds are right where they should be, but as soon as i allow her back on ping jumps to 800-1000 and DL speeds drop to under 1mb.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a the aforementioned router set up with one PC laptop connected via ethernet cable and two to five other devices (PC laptops, iPhone, iPad, Linux Laptop) connected at any given time. About once or twice a week the router drops the network. I can still see the SSID, but can't connect on any device. The wired laptop gets dropped as well. I tried to ping its IP, but it says the device is unreachable. The only solution is to walk upstairs and unplug the router, which fixes it every time until a few days later when it happens again. I've restored factory settings a number of times.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just got a new notebook that has windows ultimate, and whenever i turn it on it knocks off all the other PCS on the network and the printer, including the one the router is wired to. I can only get it to pick up all 4 devices when i go into the Lynksys program and click change password. But then the program locks up and i have to shut it off manually.
I already reset the router four times trying to get it to pick up all the PCs but it never works. I'm ready to toss the router and get something else. Are there any settings I can change or reset before this router becomes garbage fodder?
I have the E1000 Linksys Router and I am using a network cable to connect to my Sony Blu-ray BDP-S370. When I watch HULU through the player it kills the entire internet connection for all PCs. I have to unplug the router in order to restart it. Everything will also work just fine until the next crash.Here's the thing, I'll watch a bit of the show and see the commercials and the router will only crash when it comes back to the show. If I watched 100 commercials they would not crash, but as soon as it returns to the show CRASH. Restart and we watch again.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWe have a low bandwith (15-20 Mbit/s) to the ASA from our Client vlan. If i connect the Client to the same vlan as the ASA is, the bandwith (90 Mbit/s) is good.
Here are the Layer 3 Design:
Client -> vlan 2 - Switch - vlan 7 -> vlan 1 - ASA 5505 -> ISP
The Layer 2 Design:
Client -> Gig2/0/13 - Switch - Gig4/0/43 -> Eth0/1 ASA5505 -> ISP
IP Address:

I assuming the switch has a problem with routing ?It is a stacked Switch with following members:

And we have following error message in the log from the switch:

Thats why i assuming i have to check the sdm templates, but i'm not sure if this resolves the issue.

I cannot find this information in Cisco for these old devices.I would like to have the platform capability for all situation (only IP base, with QoS, with ACL, with encryption, etc.)

View 2 Replies View RelatedWe have 2 WLCs, 4402 (main) and 5508 (backup). While we turn on both devices, 4402 have 10 APs, and 5508 have 10 APs as well. Total connected clients will be 120+, but when we turn off either 1 wlc, let's say only 4402 is power on, total 20 APs joined, but the total client will be 90+, never reach over 100 clients. The same happened on 5508, is there any maximum associated connection on WLC?

When I want to configure cleanair, or some security functions (such as ACL, or password policies), I have an error message saying that my privileges are not enough.When I use local account, it works well.
At the begining, I thought it was a TACACS issue, but I have the same problem with WCS and SNMP. Cleanair doesn't appears in config menu, and I have an error message for security function.

Since the SW upgrade to version 7.3.101.0 (wlc 5508) i have the following issue. We have a W LAN with 802.1x (WPA2/AES) secured. Before the update the users need to enter user/ PW every time when they reconnect (W LAN switch off/ on again) to the W LAN. Now the users don`t need to enter user/ PW when they reconnect to the WLAN.
I could not find any setting on wlc to clear this issue.
Can the Cisco 3602 APs be configured by a Cisco 5508 WLAN controller to provide client isolation?
