Cisco WAN :: RV082 - Possible To Establish PPTP VPN Connection As Client?
Dec 27, 2010
Does RV082 can establish PPTP VPN connection as CLIENT? (i'm aware it can provide function of VPN PPTP server but could not find if it can act as client). To explain further: I'm based in Europe and use US VPN to access some US services like Netflix, Pandora, etc.. (i'm paying for US VPN account as service so I have no other choice than PPTP). I would like to establish permanent PPTP VPN tunnel with remote server so all computers in the house can go through tunnel when i browse for Pandora or Netflix for example (is this router capable of routing policy too so not all the traffic would be routed through tunnel?)
Can I configure a PIX (515), as PPTP client to establish a tunnel with non-Cisco PPTP server ? Can my PIX initiate this type of connection ?Today, I use a PC with PPTP client to establish this and I want replace this with a PIX and I don´t want depends of a PC.
I have tried to make a VPN connection between RV180W and iPad with PPTP. I have enabled the server, set the address range, added and user and enabled it.
I entered the same information into iPad but when I try to start the VPN, iPad just tried to make connection and finally fails with an error stating that PPP server cannot be reached.
I think the devices are able to make some kind of connection as if I change the gateway IP address incorrect, I get a different kind of error message. I also tried to reboot the router...
I cannot connect to a PPTP on the outside of my network. We have a RV082, port 1723.It says verifying username and password but then disconnects. The error log says Blocked IP Spoofing.
I'm trying to set up a permanent VPN connection for an Expat. We've got an RV042 set up on site to act as the server, and an RVL200 as a client. This RVL200 will be behind a home router, so it needs to initiate the connection every time; the site side router won't be able to see it behind the Expat's home router.I've got a PPTP server set up on the RV042, and I'm trying to get the RVL200 to connect to it as a client. Is there any way to do so, or will we need to go with another option? Because on the RV042, I see no way to set up an SSL server of any kind; only a direct SSL Tunnel, which won't work as again, the RV042 will not be able to see the RVL200.
Looks like cisco 857w does not support pptp client in my IOS version, only l2tp is supported. Does there is some IOS version I can upgrade/downgrade to configure cisco as pptp client?
I have remote branches that connect to the corporate office as a site-to-site VPN. Now the clients at the branch are getting an application that is using an unsecured port (tcp/23). I would like to use a set of ASA 5520's that I have at the corporate office, with the AnyConnect license on them. I want the client machines to establish a tunnel from the client to one of these ASA's. The ASA' then would have a connection to the VLAN that the receiving server is housed on. The trick is to just establish the tunnel from the client to the ASA that will allow the IP of the client to not be translated. So I would use the ASA as a security 'pass-through' for the clients that use this new application.
I Have RV220W Rev 1.0.3.5/I want to create 5 users adn connect remotely to the office network using a PPTP connection.
I have enabled the PPTP server and created users. From a remote location (WAN) on Windows 7, I have created a PPTP connection and I can connect however I can not ping or map to the office network.
Iphone 4S latest IOS5 V 5.1.1 installed?I'm not able to make native IPSEC VPN connection to work against my company Cisco 877 Instead, all my notebook and netbook with Cisco VPN Client installed work fine when they remotely connect to company's 877 Enabling 877 debug, it seems Iphone successfully pass the phase 1 ike connection (in fact Iphone asks me for phase2 user/pass) but it hung at phase2 giving me back the error "Negotiation with VPN server failed"
Here is how I configured my 877 VPN part :
R1(config)# aaa new-model R1(config)# aaa authentication login default local R1(config)# aaa authentication login vpn_xauth_ml_1 local R1(config)# aaa authentication login sslvpn local R1(config)# aaa authorization network vpn_group_ml_1 local R1(config)# aaa session-id common
[code]....
It seems 877 even comes to allocate a local LAN ip address to Iphone (192.168.0.21) but then something goes wrong.....
My ISP has just implemented a new network on the cable infrastructure which uses a PPTP authentication method. It works on my Cisco RVS4000 router as there is an option to set PPTP as the WAN type. The only trouble with the RVS4000 is that the performance is very poor, hence I am trying to get it working with a Cisco 1921. I have looked high and low and I cannot find an sample of a Cisco router functioning as PPTP client to a ISP.Enclosed is the screen shot of my Cisco RVS400 with the options etc.
I've been labbing on my asa5505 at home, setting up different VPN solutions for testing purposes. However, I can't get my anyconnect client to establish a DTLS tunnel when connecting (anyconnect only shows tls, and does not display any errors about not connecting with dtls)I have set dtls port to 444 and this port is open on the other side.
Device asa 5550 - But can a Client establish a SSL VPN to remote network and devices on the remote network access local network printers? so you got one client one network A that creates a SSL VPN to network B , can network B be configured so that automatic job come across the same ssl vpn to a Different IP?
I'm trying to configure 1700 K9 router to act as PPTP client and connect to Microsoft VPN server (in order to enable all clients on LAN to seamlessly access host on remote location). [URL]
I'm using GMS3 to test everything in lab environment. I managed to connect to Microsoft VPN server but the connection drops immediately. Below is debug info from router R1 (router R2 just simulates host on LAN) and configurations for both routers. The only clue I got from debug is that immediately before closing connection there's a message "CCP: Failed to negotiate with peer"...
R1#sh debug PPP: PPP detailed event debugging is on MPPE Packet Details debugging is on
A customer of mine has two RV082 in different locations. The "main" router is providing a gateway-to-gateway VPN tunnel, and is also used by a few road warriors for VPN access. We've had some issues with the "main" router lately, so we've decided to exchange it for a brand new device (v3). The old RV082 was a hardware revision v2 device, so I had to manually rebuild the config on the new router. The new router is working fine so far - connectivity and gateway-to-gateway VPN are fine. IPsec Client VPN, however, doesn't work at all. The config of the new router is identical to the config of the old one, IPsec Client VPN used to work fine on the old router.
The router is running the latest firmware (v4.0.4.02-tm). I've been trying to make IPsec VPN work with "QuickVPNplus ver: 1.0.6" and the "Cisco QuickVPN Client v1.4.2.1". From what I understand, both programs first connect to the routers external IP and download some sort of VPN config file. The info in that file is then used to create the actual connection. The problem is that the config file is invalid. It contains HTML code instead of config data. This is the code: "<HTML><HEAD><meta http-equiv="refresh" content="0; URL=/cgi-bin/welcome.cgi"></HEAD><BODY></BODY></HTML>". The URL is the same I see when logging in to the admin interface of the router. The Cisco client tells me in its "wget_error.txt": "rwConnStart message=All 1 wget requests did not return a valid vpnserver.conf". Both clients connect to the router fine, and the config download itself is working - only the returned data is invalid.
I've already tried lots of stuff to make the problem go away - enabling/disabling the firewall, VPN passthrough options, and other things. I'm beginning to think that there may be a bug in the firmware I'm using, or that the way Client VPN works has changed in a way that makes connecting with a client implementing the "old" method impossible. By the way, PPTP is working fine, so we're using it as a temporary workaround. My client, however, isn't happy with this workaround - he bought a relatively expensive router so he can make use of its advanced features, after all.
If i set up a pptp vpn between a Cisco rv082 router and a microsoft client,Can i set the client idle timeout someway? or Have a default value pre- configured for this?Because this device support 5 users to connect at the same time. It would be best for me, if the device drop the client if it does not use the tunel.
When I attempt to export the certificate for the quickvpn client via the router web interface, it looks as if the export works, and it asks me to save the zip file. However, upon opening the zip file I receive the error: The compressed folder is invalid or corrupted.
This happens in multiple browsers, from multiple machines.
I have a Cisco RV082 and can successfully connect with the Cisco QuickVPN Client, 1.4.2.1. However, after 1 to 5 minutes I see the Windows 7 bluescreen indicating that the system has halted due to a problem with a driver. I have installed the latest Windows updates and reinstalled the client.
The bluescreen only occurs if I use the Cisco QuickVPN Client.
I am trying to configure RV082 router with Mac Native VPN Client for my remote access. However, no matter what I did, I am not able to make it works. Can any one can give me an example of how to conguration my RV082 router and Mac Book Pro(Mountain Lion)?
an RVS4000 shall establish a pptp VPN connection. The router is connected trough its WAN port to the first router which connects to the internet.
The PPTP VPN connection cannot be established but the pptp server can be pinged from the VPN router. Login data and password is OK. Connection can be established from a win7 computer without any problem.
We have a Cisco 891 with this configuration belowI got several computer on my lan that needs to connect to an external Windows server with pptp. The windows server is not mine but it works. The clients are using the windows connection manager. We can connect to the windows pptp server for hours sometimes. But, sometimes we can just connect about 3-4-5 minutes, and it auto-disconnects. Is there something wrong in my configuration ? I heard the cisco router is messing with the keepalive or the connection state. It seems to happens when i have more than 5-6 clients connected at the same time on the same server. I got theses mesages : Link to VPN failed. OR ERROR 619 OR ERROR 651Before, I had a RV042 and it worked like a charm. We were 10 on the vpn server and it was working. I dont see why Its not working now.

On my PC laptop, when we try to connect to the internet (wireless router) through firefox we get the error message"Firefox can't establish a connection to the server @ cn-us.start3.monzilla.com. When we try using Window explorer we get "Internet Explorer can't display webpage" When prompted to click on "diagnose connection problem" it states Windows did not find any problems with this computer network connection.
A couple of points... the connection indication at the bottom states the laptop is connected to the internet. (WLAN ON)I have a Mac that is connected to our internet and doesn't have any problems. We have Windows Vista on the PC laptop
I too am having a problem establishing a secure connection for Dropbox, Adobe update and just about every website I try to access via Firefox or Chrome comes up as unsecure. I can add exceptions, but I would rather access them securely.
I have tried to establish a VPN-Connection from Ipad (via the Ipad built-in vpn-client) to a SA540.Unfortunately without any results. I get the message "Server is not responding". (A VPN Connection from a normal Software-Client running on W7 works fine).
I am facing problem when trying to establish VPN connection between ASA and 1841 router. Peer comes up but traffic is encrypt and decrypt. when assign route (ip route 192.168.x.0 255.255.255.0 fa0/0) to remote local subnet there is a traffic but one reply and one drop

I have successfully connected two RV042s to establish a VPN gateway to VPN gateway connection. I have the follow questions:
1. I would like to keep the VPN tunnel connection time indefinite. Is it sufficient by checking the "Keep-Alive" box on the VPN -> Gateway To Gateway -> Advance page? Or, I have to ping the RV042 periodically?
2. Do the "Phase 1/Phase 2 SA Life Time" (on VPN -> Gateway To Gateway page) settings have any impact on keeping the VPN connection time indefinite? What are the optimal values for them?
3. Is there an API, command, or script to replace a manual clicking on the "CONNECT" button to establish the VPN tunnel from the VPN -> Summary page? Or, is there a way to accomplish this at power up?
4. Is there a way to establish a VPN tunnel without going through login and clicking the "CONNECT" button? (Auto connect at power up?)
I connected my home laptop to the work network to download some (legal) software (by cable) but it didn't work. When I detached it the internet access to the desktop machine was not functioning. That was diagnosed as a problem with the I.P. address (presumably when i attached my laptop.) It was fixed over the phone through a START>RUN>CMd>config process. Now I find that my laptop won't connect to my NetGear home link (also cable) and wonder if the same problem might be happening, that connecting the laptop to the work network has scrambled it's recognition of the server or the I.P. address.I tried updating Kaspersky 2011 databases but it just keeps saying 'source not found'Another laptop using the same router connects perfectly each time.
i am trying to establish a VPN connection between two remote offices. In the home side I have Cisco 1811W and on the far side CiscoSRP541.
What is the best solution to build a site-to-site VPN between those two locations. I originally thought to configure a GRE tunnel on the routers, but faced some issues with that.
I am having problem when try to connect through VPN from MacOS to my RV016 router. The situation is like this. I can connect to the router, the connection is succesfull, but when I try access resources inside the network it disconnects me.The message is "You are dissconnected by the PPTP Server". I encountered this problem on MacOS Snow Leopard and Lion. I tried to connect from 3 different Apple machines, but the problem is the same.
I've got trouble using PPTP connections with the RV220W small business router. When trying to connect to the router of a branch office with the Windows PPTP client (i.e. on Windows 7) from outside the companies network first everything seems to be in working order (user name and password are checked, the device is registered in the remote subnet) but then a window pops up saying there has been an error connecting.
Here is some information on my setup:RV220W with firmware 1.0.3.5It connects to the Internet using PPPoE dialindyndns account configured and workingAnother router working in "Act as a DSL modem" mode is used as a modem (AVM FRITZ!Box 7170)The RV220W is maintaining a IPSec tunnel to a main office, which is working finethere are 2 local VLANs (one with access to VPN tunnel, one without), each with a own subnet (192.168.201.0/24 and 192.168.202.0/24)PPTP users are on a seperate subnet (192.168.203.101 - 192.168.203.111) My first guess was, that the intermediate router acting as the modem could be a problem, but i verified all settings on that router and it should not filter anything. After all port forwardings, the IPSec tunnel and so on are working.
I am not able to establish a PTPP connection with my iPhone over WAN. When I am in my local Wireless LAN it works nice using the external FQDN of the RV220W. But when I test the VPN access over 3G (meaning I am coming in over the WAN port) I get and error message that the connection to the PPP server could not be established.
Some more Info
- Running latest firmware - Port 1723 is open to the Internet - ISP doesn't filter anything - No Firewall settings blocking anything at the moment - Nothing in the logs indicating what the problem is
So what needs to be done here to get it running over the WAN port and not only over the LAN ports?
I am working with a RV180w and need to map drives from the internal network to the VPN client but whenever I try to connect to a shared drive I continue to get authentication messages from the DC. Any useful guide for configuration in this scenario. Internal subnet is on Windows 2008 domain.
