I am quite new to WCS and preparing a demo for a client. I am also using WLC2125 with LAP1252s for this setup. Is it possible to modify the shape of the heatmaps of the APs? I know how to regulate TX power of the radios and all works great but how can I controll RF leakage outside the perimiter of the building? Is it possible to controll the RF so that it will not be going outside and same time giving a good coverage inside?
View 1 RepliesI have a WCS server running the version 6.0.170.0. I have already added few WLCs running the version 7.0 to this WCS. It is working fine. And now I have added two new controllers running the version 7.0.98.0 to the existing WCS server. When i add the floor layouts to the WCS and position the access points from the new controllers, the heat map is not generated automatically.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIs the configuration information for each of the access points that has joined a wireless lan controller stored somewhere specifically in the configuration screens? I enabled the power injector override on one of my access points which is plugged into a POE switch and of course now it will not stay up for more than a few seconds. Therefore I cant just go to the wireless list and modify the configuration there. I cannot seem to find it anywhere else to change it and bring it back up.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Cisco 2821 with ios Version 12.4(21). On that router I have a WAN link that is 550mbit dual. The interface is 1000FD so i need to shape my output traffic to max 550mbit - otherwise my ISP policing is dropping the traffic.
I've looked at this document url... and i'm trying to use this interface command:traffic-shape rate
But the router wont accept rate value 550000000 that should be 550mbit in bits/s
Is it not possible to shape the traffic to 550mbit on the 2821 router?
My company's security group uses Tripwire to monitor for changes in start-config and running-config on network devices in PCI scope. We are migrating from ACS v4.2 to v5.2. I need to create the account for Tripwire on the ACS Appliance but did not want to assign the admin role which would give access to configure terminal. The user role does not have privileges for show start-config or show running-config. Am I missing something or are these the only 2 roles available at the CLI? Can another rolle be added?

I am working at a client site that is an MPLS customer. The customer has an MPLS circuit that runs between their Main HQ and their Disaster Recovery site. I have been asked to analyze and report as well on the way the Qos Policy is written, and to provide any recommendations on how they can improve performance.There is a statement within the Qos Policy as it exists at each end on the 3825 routers. The statement is called "shape average percent". Here is the policy from one side:

What does this statement mean and how is it different than the the "bandwidth percent" statement?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a asa 5510 with 8.x software and I want to reserve (i mean RESERVE not PRIORITIZE) traffic based on protocol, like if I have a 10Mbit I want to :
- give 3 Mb for smtp
- give 5 Mb to http/s whatever
- 2 Mb for other stuff.
Of course QOS won't do that, can you do that with ASA?
We currently "need" to shape certain services very specifically....we curently do this via routers for CE's (881's etc) i.e. 10Mb service, we need:
-class class-default
-shape average 9800000 40000 0
Some of our clients want to run firewalls as CE's that are unable to shape to this degree, so we are wanting to put an inexpensive switch in front of their CE to do the shaping for them(L2 - either per-port or per-vlan)...the ME3400 looks ok, but is quite expensive.
The day before yesterday, I bought the dir-615.
I had set an admin password and user's password. It was not same password. In this setting, there was no problem. Sure, no problem at connect from private IP, internet IP or just reboot and anywhere. The problem is the next.
If you got an electronic timer-switch and apply the DIR-615 then you cannot obtain an admin privilege from a remote. It just general user's permission even if I put the admin password.
I have been DIr-615 E4 hardware and 5.10 firmware. It does not happens at local IP address(i.e. 192.168.0.1) but it happen as trying connect from a remote IP address after AC plug re-powered.
I am doing use the AC timer for the remote internet managing at every day. It useful things for the router and IP camera. I need a admin privilege from a internet for the router managing.
I have several controllers, including a 4402 running 6.0.188.0 software and I need to modify the Radius servers that it uses. Currently I have three servers listed;
1 - 10.246.194.16
2 - 10.200.31.78
3 - 10.247.50.56
I would like to delete server 1 which is being retired and replace it with a new server 1. I suspect, once i get servwe 1 deleted, the server 1 option would become available when I create a new server. I went into the controller and disabled server one, but every time I try and delete it, I get the "Server in use either on a specific WLAN or Mesh Radius Server Configuration" error. I can't find anywhere this server is still in service and being used, either by a WLAN or a Mesh. I've tried several different variances to modify this. What I hope to avoid is the need to reset the controller. I have a total of seven controllers that I need to make this modification to, and It will be ugly if I have to reboot these units. Hospital mission critical stuff.

We have tried once by removing the physical interfaces from the port-channel group but we lost the connectivity to the secondary switch. In order to do this, first I need to login to those switches, but due to a lack of knowledge transfer, I don't have the password. Is the some generic password?Second I will need to modify the VLAN settings on each individual port. How can I do this?
I have been reading for awhile now on all the Cisco forums on the 3560 and shaping egress traffic but I wanted to verify my thoughts on this. I have 3560 that connects to the ISP that is policing at 10Megs, I want to shape my egress traffic going to the ISP, I do not want to provided QOS to any specific traffic type but only shape all traffic outbound. Will my config below shape "all" egress traffic going to the ISP on the 3560, on a port that is physically connect at 100Meg Full duplex?

I gathered these numbers using the formula of 100* 1/weight, which would equal 2.5 and if each queue has 2.5 meg that would = 10Meg. However another concern is that I don't think I have the full 100Meg on the interface to use (correct?)

Additionally, we don't have access to rs-232 port on AP. In this moment on WLC we can see DISCOVERY request from AP and response from WLC to AP, but AP don't send JOIN to controller.

I have a Cisco 2125 Wireless Lan Controller and I have problem with hold coverage errors and I had tri different solutions with different antenna, the resume is:The antena gain 10*0,5 Dbi(Using a 5 Dbi antenna or 10 Dbi antenna) with Tx power 1 and the antenna gain 20*0,5 Dbi (using 10Dbi antenna) with Tx power 3 the coverage is the same.
If I try the configuration 20*0,5 gain antenna and Tx power 1 the controller show me one error and the controller don't permit this configuration. Why don't permit this configuration?
I have WLC 2125 on version 6.0.182.0 and AP's on version 12.4(21a)JA.I also have a load more AP's (newones) 1041's with IOS version 15.2.
So i have to upgrade my WLC because the newones are not compatable with the old WLC version.What will happen to the old AP's ?I was told they will automatically update the IOS version.These AP's (oldones) are not on site, they are in a differnet LAN.

These access points were fat access points from the factory and were applied with LAP ios so that they can join our controller. We have 2 controllers 5108 for Internal network office use and a seperate 2125 for Guest internet both these are physically seperate networks. These AP's have been working fine since say like 8-9 months and suddenly they started giving problems. The status light keeps changing colour and the AP does not join the controller 2125. Whenever i am connecting this ap to our internal network it joins the controller 5508 and works fine but somehow does not register with our 2125 guest controller. This issue is being faced by one of our client. Could this be an issue due to the ap being loaded with lap ios or does it have anything to do with the different software version fo the controllers as i could not find any things regarding this.
