Cisco 2504 wlc, 1142n ap, windows radius server.
When I click on Network, the only computer that shows up is mine. If I am hardwired then everything shows up (Servers, other workstations). Is this a problem with the radius server or something on the controller?
My Macbook Pro connects and mom's Windows 7 laptop connects, and (though having done it manually) and my iPhone connects as well. But my Windows 7 desktop and my dad's Windows 7 laptop don't detect the network.

View 6 Replies View RelatedWe have cisco 2504 controller and 1200 series access point.These are in India and country code is IN.When access point joins the controller , then in wireless>advanced , i see the two country code is already configured these are Sri Lnaka(LK) and Singpore (SG).I have disabled the radios and changed the country code to IN but after doing that Access point is not joining the controller and giving the duplicate error.
Then i have again set the country code to IN,LK and SG.I am able to see the LK and SG but In is not showing in drop down list.
Operationally everything is working fine.
my computer is a dell dimension 1100, with a Linksys WMP54G wifi card, running vista home basic.In the wifi thing in the notification area, it shows two wireless networks, One is my normal SSID (Lower Net), and one is "Unidentified network". They are both on one wireless connection (Wireless Network Connection 3). When i try to go on the internet, it says i'm not connected. i tried disconnecting from the unidentified network, but that disconnects me from lower net too.

I am trying to configure access control rules, but the list of computers (ip addresses and mac addresses) are empty, I have setup all of my devices with static ip's, they are all turned on and all have internet access. None of the systems including the one I am trying to configure the rules with are there, They don't show up in port forwarding either. Any one ever have this problem? I returned and DIR-825 Rev.b for this same problem because i thought it was defective.
I have tried rebooting the router, rebooting each pc and trying different ports on the router itself. There are wireless and wired computers that I am trying to setup but none of them show up. When I try to manually enter them into access control ie. 192.168.0.103 it will only allow me to put one computer in for each rule.
The old rev.A router this one replaced work perfectly fine with the same cables and computers setup the same way.
I have two WLC 2504 controllers. These controllers are for two different buildings. But they share a VLAN, and network address range. How can I control the access points to the register selected only at a specific controller.
Example:
AP 1 -> WLC 1
AP 2 -> WLC 2
AP 3 -> WLC 1
Since the buildings also broadcast in different SSID. The two controllers are in a mobility group.
Our current way of configuration for this is standalone ap's with multiple ssid's. The main network ssid's are on the 10.0.0.0 networks. The internet only ssid is on the 192.168.1.0 network. ( this is a wireless network only,no wired) They all get there dhcp address from a layer 3 switch. To prevent the wireless 192.168.1.0 intenet only network from getting to the 10.0.0.0 networks, we just put a simple source & destination deny acl on the in vlan interface of the 192.168.1.0 network on the layer 3 switch.Now that we are impementing a Cisco 2504 controller, the management and ap manger are both on the 10.0.0.0 network.( both on port 1 with dynamic ap manager enabled) I can setup as many ssid's on the 10.0.0.0 network and they all work fine. But when I setup the 192.168.1.0 internet only ssid it will not connect. I'm assuming that its because the 192.168.1.0 network or anyone trying to connect and use that network has to go through the controller located on the 10.0.0.0 network. I'm thinking that the acl on the vlan interafce is the problem.So, if I'm correct, what is the best way to setup a separate internet only network through the private networks?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI recently got my Cisco wireless system working a few days ago and am back with a guest network. Our wireless system includes one 2504 controller and 2 2602i access points. So, I want a wireless guest network completely isolated from the LAN.
Here is what I have done.
I have created a new internal network and assigned 192.168.2.1 to an unused port on the firewall and 2.2 to a new controller interface with vlan 10. I can ping both 2.1 and 2.2 from the firewall and the controller. Basic network connectivity is working. The DHCP server is setup on this same firewall and configured only for this port. This address is referenced in the controllers interface.
A new w lan was setup and enabled. The proper interface group was selected on the w lan. I have left the default layer2 security.
As far as AAA servers tab in this wlan, this is where I am a little confused. I wish to just have a single log in for this guest network. I wasn't sure what to do so I went over to the Security tab and created a "local net users" account. I do not know how to reference the use of this under wlan, security, aaa servers. Should I check the box that says "local eap authentication"?? If so, I don't have a profile name in the drop down. What I'm looking for is the username/password to be stored locally on the controller itself since there will be only 1 account.
Under wlan, advanced tab, I do not have "Allow AAA override" checked. Should I?
Lastly, when I try to connect the client, it is not pulling a dhcp address. I wasn't sure if authentication was required before dhcp or the other way around so I'm not sure what to trouble shoot first, authentication or dhcp.
I have recently deployed a wireless network using a WLC 2504 with 21 Light APs. All seems fine except that Apple Devices drop their connections every 15 minutes or so. A couple of minutes later they can reconnect but obviously something is wrong.

If user is an employee, communicates with the supplicant on their machine, and places them on an internal vlan.If user is a guest, user fails 802.1x check and is placed on a "guest" vlan with an ACL and external DNS.If placed on the guest vlan, the user has to accept a terms of use form.This is working currently with our 5508s without any issue, however we have some remote offices we'd like to roll this out to that are using 2504 controllers. I'm hoping there's a way that I can use the 5508 as an anchor or vice versa to make this work.

Last night I went trolling around for a solution to an ip address conflict message I receive when I try to go onto Xbox live via a network bridge on my laptop. What I eventually ended up doing was going into my tp-link wireless router settings (not sure of the exact model number as I am not home right now) and reserving two different ip addresses for my laptop and my Xbox using their MAC addresses. It didn't appear to do anything ( now I think possibly because my Xbox needs the same ip as my laptop?). Anyways I tried to go onto Xbox live and it worked at the start (as it always does) and then 30 minutes in, the ip address conflict message came up (usually meaning a disconnect from Xbox live is imminent). But I actually ended up staying online for another 3 hours until the Internet crashed.
Upon further investigation I noticed that my wireless network was not even showing up on my computer, my phone, or any of my roommates computers. I went upstairs to check the wireless router and it was seemingly working correctly (i.e. no flashing lights or anything). Not quite sure what to do. I would go back and change the router settings but I don't think I can without a connection to it.
My wireless netwok indicator on the bottom of my screen show no connection. It says I need the WEP key.

What can be done to get wifi in the list of availale networks.

Both my iPod and my PC can find other networks, but not my own.My network is WPA-2 only, which my iPod should be able to see. The cipher type is TKIP. My wireless channel is 2.437GHz (channel 6, I can't change it). I even tried resetting my network settings on my ipod, with no luck.My router is a DLink DIR 615 wireless router and my computer is a PC that runs Windows 7. The router is able to connect to the internet; it's just the wireless portion that isn't working.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI've come across an older IBM ThinkPad 2687 via work that was just collecting dust, and it was able to connect to a wireless network.Due to other issues with the machine, I had to do a complete refresh on it, so it only had the XP OS.
I had to update the drivers to make sure other things like connecting to a flash drive, and connecting to a local area was possible, which is how I'm able to connect now.However, I've been unable to access the wireless connection within Network connections. I've downloaded the different drivers from the Lenovo IBM ThinkPad website, but still no luck.

I have: Atheros AR5B97 Wireless Network Adapter, Windows 7 on ACER Aspire 7741z-4815. It has been updating until recently, don't know if it's because I haven't been online as often or what.
I'm trying to install my WMP600N wireless adapter. It's not showing up in my device manager. The thing is I've installed it in the past and ran into some driver issue which made me give up. But it showed up in device manager before so I know it's not a dead card. Right now, plug and play isn't working. How do I get a Wireless Connection to show up in my device manager? This is for my PC. I also have a couple drivers I could use but I don't know how to install them because they are not exe files. I can't select upgrade drivers because the network adapter isn't showing up in the first place.
I have tried unplugging and replugging, and also scanning for hardware changes in device manager.
Had a secure network with my model wrt54g2 v1 router, then suddenly it's not showing up. All I have is a unsecured Linksys way on to the Internet. How can I get this back to my secure network?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a dell desktop running windows vista that connects to my wireless router with a cable. I have an HP laptop that is running windows 7 that is wireless.When I look at network computers on the dell I get an error message that says that the computer is not accessible. The same thing happens when I try to log onto the desktop from the laptop. When I try to run the network wizard from the desktop, I see see connect to the internet, connect to a wireless router or access point, setup a dialup connection and connect to a workplace.None of them make sense but I tried connect to a wireless router and got a message that said to set it up manually or set up a flash drive, neither of which makes sense. I tried set it up manually and all that happened is the router setup screen opened up.I tried the same thing on the laptop and the setup the network wizard opened a screen that said choose a wireless router or access point to configure, but nothing ever showed up on that screen.

I'm having problems with my wireless computers seeing the rest of my network. This is my setup. ATT dsl modem into a 16 port netgear gigabit switch into dlink 615 Some computers are hardwired two are wireless All was working well before d-link with the linksys When im on a wireless computer i cant see the other computers hardwired to the network through the switch. When i take a wireless computer and plug it directly into the switch it see the rest of the computers fine.Something screwy is happening between the switch and the dlink router not allowing me to see my shared folders and printer over wifi.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have encountering a problem with a new installation at my clients side recently.We have a 5508 wlc and a bunch of Laps connected to it.Recently we associated a 1142ap to the same controller.The issue we are facing is that , the client laptops that are connected to THIS ap are showing maximum of only 54mbps in their network information dialogue box.Initially i couldn't understand why this could happen.But after a bit of research , i came to know that this could happen because of ``unticked`` data rates in the controller , or because of not using wpa2 with aes as the security standard for N-series access points.Now i have enabled all data rates in the High Throughput section as well as enabled the correct encryption standard.But still the issue persists.We have checked with multiple laptops , to rule out the possibility of a faulty n/w card

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a strange problem with my Linksys E1000. When I try to connect wireless, there is a network with an excellent signal, but it has the name "CiscoI1593" and it asks for a password which I don't know. My original network does not appear for some reason when I try to connect wirelessly. I do see my original network name when I use an ethernet cable through the E1000.
It's not possible, where I live, for this "CiscoI1593" network to belong to someone else, it just seemed like it renamed my network to this and also wants some different password.
I think this may be due to something I did. My internet occasionally cuts out and it's usually something wrong with the modem or router, so I typically unplug and press the reset button on both until it begins to work again. This is the first time i've had this problem though, and I have unplugged and pressed the reset button on my router many times.
There is also a button in the middle of the front of the router that looks like a refresh symbol, but I don't really know what it is, pushing it doesn't seem to do anything but make a solidly-on light become blinky.
I am having problems authenticating client computers onto the wireless network using a Cisco AP1252 via radius
Setup:
I have a Cisco AP1252 wireless Access Point connected to a Cisco ASA5510 on subnet X.X.5.Z The access point ip address is X.X.5.101
The ASA on another port is also connected to the wired network on a different subnet X.X.0.Z
On the wired network are two radius servers - Ubuntus servers running freeradius which are running fine and reliably authenticate wired users for ssh connections to the ASA and importantly to the AP1252 as well (The radius servers ip addresses are X.X.0.191 and X.X.0.192)
Problem:
When a wireless user tries to connect to the wireless network via the AP1252 after being disconnected form it for a while (or after waking from a long sleep) they are never authenticated. They just try over and over and never obtain an IP
Interestingly in such a case neither Ubuntu server shows any sign of receiving an authentication request from the AP - Both ubuntu servers are running in debug mode so they show any activity - there is none
Oddly:
If i try to authenticate a user wirelessly to the AP and leave it in the usual state of trying over and over (with no visible activity on the ubuntu servers) BUT then go to a wired machine and attempt to authenticate an ssh connection to the AP1252 using a terminal command ssh user1@X.X.5.101 THEN as soon as I hit enter on that request (and before I enter a password for the ssh connection) THE WAITING WIRELESS USER IS IMMEDIATELY AUTHENTICATED (and the ubuntu server shows the authentication activity for the wireless user
I really do not understand this and cannot use this method to facilitate wireless user authentication 
What might be causing this behavior - it seems like the AP sleeping and the wired ssh request wakes it up so that it sees the pending wireless user waiting and then acts on that completing the wireless user authentication request.
I recently decided to buy a DIR-655 router to create a wireless network in my home. I hooked it up last night and speeds look fine with my rr standard 10mpbs service. However, I decided to check the wireless status and my macbook, macbook pro, and my desktop computer are only getting at most 130mbps. Is there anything i can do to maximize this and go beyond 130mbps
