Apr 8, 2013I have quick question about wlc software version upgrade : currect version of 5500 WLC : 7.0.220.0,However i am planning to upgrade to version 7.2.110.0,currectly all remote site AP's are connected to this WLC , nearly 150 AP's all are in H-reap mode however once i upgrade to 7.2.110.0 version , all default should come into Flexconnect mode.Do i need to make any configuration or any changes in AP's to get Flexconnect mode or will it be default mode as Flexconnect mode in new version of WLC ?

Sep 29, 2011I have two Windows 7 computers and neither one will successfully upgrade a 1242 AP to LWAP. However, I go to a coworker's XP machine and run the tool without issues. On Windows 7 I keep receiving the error message of ACL or Firewall is blocking. I have added rules and then even tried disabling the firewalls completely on both computers and still no success.

Jan 16, 2013I have a Cisco 5500 Software Version 6.0.199.4. Today I've been able to succesfully add a few newly purchased 1242G APs to my WC so I know everything is setup properly. They got the proper DHCP info and I was up and running in a few minutes.
I'm now trying the same thing with a newly purchased Air-Lap1262N-a-KP
I can read the bootup because I'm attached to it on the console.I see that it gets the proper IP#
But then I keep getting a "failed to decode the discovery response" error.

Can the wlc or the switch be configured in such a way that the wireless users associating to the wlc get their ip addresses from the dhcp pool configured on the server. Can the configuration can be shared for such a setup.

Jan 30, 2013I have a Cisco aironet 3502i access point which I am using with a 5500 Wireless Controller. I was configuring the AP for flexconnect and accidentally enabled PPPoE authentication - but never set configured login details for PPPoE. Now when the AP boots up it tries to use PPPoE but fails - it never even looks for an IP address. I have no way to get the AP connected to the controller again.I tried logging into the AP via console, the AP gives me output but I never get a login, even when I hold down the Mode button during startup.I also tried holding the Mode button and waiting for the AP to boot with its default IP (10.0.0.1) and connecting to the AP via telnet, but I was unable to connect or even ping with my PC on the same network configured as 10.0.0.2.What can I do to set this AP back to defaults, to become a normal DHCP client, and reconnect to the wireless controller where I can reconfigure it?

We would use the same version of code on each controller and apply the necessary amount of AP licenses on each. The controllers would have identical configurations and host multiple SSID's, including offering guest services. Does the 2500 support guest network services?

Apr 30, 2012We have recently been given this unusual task. The setup is a series of CAP3502P access points, and a wireless controller (either 2500 Series or 5500 Series), as well as other standard network infrastructure.
In this network, the client (mobile/wireless) devices must be able to detect when they change what access point they are communicating through, while also requiring a seamless transition. Ie, if the client device is communicating via access point A, and displaying the application menus for A, when the user walks to the area services by access point B, it must detect that sot he application can display menus for B, without the user having to select "B".
Is there a way for the client device to detect which access point it is using and provide that to an application? Or alternatively a way for a host service residing on a server to get that information from the wireless controller?

Feb 13, 2013I'm using two 5500 WLCs with the version 7.2.110.0 When some AP with the part number AIR-CAP1552E-N-K9 associate with them, the 802.11g stays up and the 802.11a stays down.I saw the AP interfaces in Wireless --> All APs and the 802.11a is down and the regulatory domain show me not supported but the 802.11g is working normally.I follow this document from Cisco [URL] and i just have BR - Brazil to support this part number.

May 24, 2012i have a 5500 series WLC connected to a switch through a trunk port with 2 v WLClans. the connection works fine, but sometimes it loses connectivity. it works again rebooting the wlc.
When the problem presented, i checked the cpd neighbors on switch and it didn't show the wlc, and i checked the cdp neighbors on WLC and this shows the switch in its neighbors list. i also checked the port counters on WLC and the receiver counters keep increasing, but the transmission counters remains in the same value. then i can see that only the TX side on the controller is down, if i restart the WLC the problem disappear temporarily.
Is there a misconfiguration or a wlc bug related to this behavior?
The switch is a Catalyst 3560
The WLC controller code is 6.0.188.0

10.0.0.9 is the management interface IP of the WLC. The primary-base is set manually due to the fact that we have several WLCs in place but only 1 is s 5500 series. The other ones are 4400 series WLCs. The new 2600 APs only can join a 5500 WLC afaik. The WLC runs 7.4.100.0

May 27, 2012I am working on a project that will involve 5500 controllers managing 1260 series N rate A/Ps. There may be a requirement for MESH but my previous experience using Motorola 802.11a radios is that random, intermittent radio detections resulted in the MESH network having to keep re-forming resulting in less than 100% availability.
What's peoples experience in the UK is 802.11a outdoors?
Ideally i would prefer to use 2.4GHz and repeater access points for those areas not serviced with data connection but I cant find any info' so far on how whether the 5500 controller is able to manage repeater access points.

Apr 18, 2012I try to configure a Cisco 5508 Wireless controller and 25 Air-lap1041 to use as VoIP and data. I read documents, manuals, etc, but the AP doesn't charge the configuration, or not conect with the Wireless Controller, why? No Radius server present, only WPA security.
I try to put a static ip in the LAP, with lwapp or capwap command, (LWAPP/CAPWAP ap ip address direccion mascara) and the AP returns "You should configure Domain and Name Server from controller CLI/GUI." and i can't change the name of the AP (Command is disabled). [code]

Aug 12, 2012We are using Cisco Wireless solution in our network. Using 4400/5500 WLCs and 3500/1130 series APs.
A new requirement has come up and we need to provide connectivity between two buildings (which are within 1 km) using wireless. This link should be able to give >=100Mbps.
As we already have 3500/1130 APs, can a wireless bridge be established using them which can also give >=100Mbps? Can this be done using a WLC based solution? What I mean is: Do I need to have a standalone AP solution or can it be done while both the APs register to WLC? What are the AP models/antennas that can meet my requirement?

Cisco Wireless :: HA On WLC 5500 - Setting Username Loop
May 5, 2013My bckup WLC controler seems to stumble in the setting of authentication phase. A week ago I actualy successfully implemented and tested HA scenario with two 5500 controllers (one of them with the HA SKU code). Both of them were upgraded to 7.4.100 version, but today the bckup controller has gone insane! The HA sceanrio was broken down and the bckup controller loops in "Enter credentials" loop forever! It doesn't matter what I enter, how many signs, it just loops endlessly... I bolded the console output underneath... The catch is that it doesn't matter what I put in it yust ignores the input and asks me for credentals again!
