I have Cisco 1131 & 1300 Light Weight Acces Points and I have 5508 WLAN controller. If i enable the wlan controller internal DHCP Server can this access points will work with this internal DHCP server or do i need to configure DHCP option 43 for these access points? Can these access points works with LWAPP or do i need to configure CAPWAP?

View 1 Replies View RelatedWe recently acquired a 4404 Cisco controller for our network and have been adding our 1200 and 1130 Access points to the controller.This was accomplished by upgrading the APs to LWAPP and then they would automatically be discovered by the controller and then join. Lately, new 1131 APs that have undergone the same process, are not joining the controller. They are discovered but then the close the connection. We are running a flat network so all devices are in the same subnet.Software Version of the controller 6.0.188.0. [code]

Some of wireless clients having problem to get the correct IP address from the DHCP server. There are 2 units of Microsoft DHCP. Both DHCP server ip have been configured on the Interface at the WLC. The core switch also being configured with ip helper. I've attached the debug output of one of the wireless client during the problem.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI am having an issue here. I have 2x 5508 that each have 100 AP license and a little under 200 access points. Basically all of the access points are using DNS to connect to the primary controller that has the DNS entry. Basically half of my access points need to be on the second controller and in order to do this I have been using the high availability mode of each access point to push them to the second controller IP address.It was working perfectly until now. I have pushed 28 access points to the second controller and the last two I need to push at this location just keep resetting on the primary controller. Neither controller is configured as master controller.

View 13 Replies View RelatedI'm having an issue in one open space area with a wifi network.I currently have 5 access points and around 100 users connected to the WiFi.There are desktops, Ipads and Mobile users connected to it.13,24,16,41,9 are the associated users to each access point. The one with 41 and 9 are only 10meters away from each other.
I read on some posts before having issues with APPLE and WIFI so cisco advised to disable the load balancing.I setup the client windown size to 10.On the networks the client roaming is with the default value.On the WLAN the Client Load Balancing is not checked.
We have an MPLS (layer 3) network 4 offices and a Data center. We are planning to install about 10 Access Points(3600 series) per office and have a controller(5508 series) in the Data center.
Questions:
1- Is this design possible, in other words, just one controller centralizing all Access point traffic in one controller in the Data center?
2- We would like to accomplish this in two phases:
A- install access points without controller handling authentication thru Microsoft IAS servers (current configuration with 1200 series)
B- Deploy wireless Controller in Data center and start migrating orphan AP to Controllers one office at a time.
I have been searching through the cisco docs for a while and i just cant seem to find this info. Can I run aironet 1600's with my wism running 7.0.116? Also, could I run my 1130 series ap's with a wism2? Basically, what is the minimum code level for a lightweight 1600, and what is the maximum code level for a lightweight 1130?

Installed a new 5508 WLC last week, and finished bringing 68 new 3602i access points online in our College Dorms. We are seeing a lot of "Client De-authenticated" errors "Reason: Unspecified Reason: Code 1. Years ago I asked about error code 1. The reply from Cisco was: "The programers put the code in. It basically means we don't know what the problem is."Got a call from one of the dorms stating that students were getting knocked off the network while going to sites. If a student is wired, network is solid.Walked the dorm in question and was getting full bars of signals at all times, and was able to stream a movie from my Ultraviolet account without any break or slowdown as I moved from access point to access point. So.. my device, an iPad, was fully mobile and did not experience any disconnects.Did observe one student using a MacBook Pro. This student was constantly loosing connection to the access point. Checked the controller for the MAC of the student's computer. I did find deauthentication errors. BUT... this student's error was the computer was receiving an IP address from the DHCP that was already in use. At the computer the error message was a timeout issue.I am just learning the ropes on the 5508. Have used 3 4404s for the past six years.

Controller is added to NCS, but it doesnt show any AP's which are there on the controller. AP count is zero. I have another controller with code 7.0.230 added and showing AP's though. AP model is 1252.
View 5 Replies View Relatedi have deployed WLC 5508 in head office with current 56 access points (mix of 1262N, 1141N and 1242) are regist ered and working fine, recently we extended to our remote office (connected over Layer 3 MPLS with OSPF Protocol) were none of the access points are not registering, i am able to reach to the controller from the specific VLAN and native VLAN without any issues. @remote site i have enabled option 43 and option 60 with the controller IP.

View 19 Replies View RelatedI have a 5508 controller, just upgraded from 6.0.182 to 7.0.98.0. Also LAG was switched off directly after upgrade.
Since the upgrade none of the 1142 LAPs are associating with the controller. I can see they are being issued IPs by the internal DHCP but putting a console cable and watching I am getting:
Not in Bound state.

One Ap prior to the upgrade was on a static IP and that connected through without any problem, (it was an 1131 though, but I dont think that is the issue...)
We have a Cisco Aironet 1130AG Wireless AP (firmware 12.4) and have a guest wireless network (internet only) and corporate wireless network configured on it. They are kept separate by having different VLANs assigned to them. When a laptop connects to the guest network I see the DHCP request go out and it is tagged with the correct VLAN. The problem is when a laptop connects to the corporate network I see the DHCP request go out but there is no VLAN tagged on the packets. This causes a problem because both of our DHCP servers (on VLAN 1 and 3, remote DHCP servers no DHCP running on the Aironet [Doesn't seem like this version has a DHCP server]) are sending responses and sometimes the corporate user will get an IP address on the Guest subnet.
Our corporate network is setup on VLAN 1 which is configured as the Native VLAN on the Aironet. Will this cause the Aironet not to tag these packets with any VLAN information? Any other thoughts as to why it isn’t tagging these packets to a VLAN?
Have a client wanting to hand out public ip addresses to all clients from a PFSense Firewall terminating the internet connection.
How do I allow the Cisco Switches currently in place, configured with private ip addresses in the 10.10.x.x ranges and Vlans, where the main 3550 layer 3 has defined dhcp scopes for each vlan, to relay dhcp requests from all vlans to the PFSense firewall?
I assume I would take off the currently defined dhcp scopes for the vlans and configure each vlan/switch with the ip helper address and specify the PFSense firewall and that Nat would have to be disabled onthe firewall?
While configuring a 5500 wireless controller, i came across this option of DHCP proxy under Advanced tab of Controller Option.It asks for the dhcp option 82 remote id format & the dhcp timeout.
1. What is the significance of this & when do we use it?
2. Also, under each wlan ssid that we create, there is an option of dhcp address required under the advanced tab. Do we need to use this option, if we are defining a normal dhcp pool in our controller for that ssid.
I am struggling with the following issue. I have 6 1130 Accesspoints in lightweight mode connected to a 2106 wlan controller which runs software version 7.0.98.0. Everything seems to work fine. Clients can connect to the wifi network. However, they don't get an ip address from the dhcp server which is on the same subnet as the wlan controller. See attached screenshots for configuration. I have also tried the internal dhcp server of the wlan controller, but the same problem remains.
The logs says: Dropping primary discovery request from AP e8:b7:4x:xx:xx:xx - maximum APs joined 6/6 There are 6 AP's connected
IOS of my access point 1130 was deleted after bad manipulation. I have just a boot but not a flash on my AP. I can connect it just in console mode. What is the procedure to restore the IOS?
