I have a customer who accedentally got a AIR-LAP-1141. He needs it to be autonomous. If I convert from LWAP to Autonomous, will there be a licensing issue?

We have few sites with old 1232 ag AUTONOMOUS existing AP's , They are connected through 1 mbps link to main office .Now we are planing to upgrade with WLC 5508 and few 1140 ap . but we want to use these same 1232ag ap on some sites.So we need to upgrade it to LWAP .
1>Is it possible to upgrade this model of AP
2>Which is the ios i should download , is it avaliable in cisco site (as this ap is end of sale now )
3>How the step to upgrade this autonomous ap
I have an existing setup consisting of:
Windows Server - doing DHCP for private wired/wireless
Cisco 1141 Autonomous WAP with only private wireless access.
ASA 5505 (with very basic licensing)
HP switch
The customer wants to have guest WiFi.
The guest WiFi is going out to the internet via a seperate VLAN/interface on the ASA. Can the 1141 do DHCP for the guest WiFi? Or do I need to do it via the ASA?
Is it possible to Change IOS of 1252 LWAP AP to Autonomous AP? I have seen some documents for changing Autonomous AP to LWAP and change back procedures.

I have two Windows 7 computers and neither one will successfully upgrade a 1242 AP to LWAP. However, I go to a coworker's XP machine and run the tool without issues. On Windows 7 I keep receiving the error message of ACL or Firewall is blocking. I have added rules and then even tried disabling the firewalls completely on both computers and still no success.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have an AIR-AP1242AG-E-K9 which had c1240-k9w8-mx.124-21a.JA loaded, I followed the link below and upgraded with Cisco’s upgrade tool to c1240-rcvk9w8-mx with no problems at all, after the upgrade I could then see the LWAP on the 4402 controller and had it working a treat.Now the problems begin, I brought it into the office where we have 5508 controllers, plug in the LWAP into our management switch and boot it up I get an IP assigned from the DHCP server and the AP goes into discovery mode but never finds the controller.I have logged the boot process but this does not give much away, our other 1100 series AP’s boot fine,

And that is where she sits and does nothing more, I have noticed the DNS problems but the other 1100 series LWAP’s boot up after show that same issue.
I have a 1121 autonomous AP which I switched to the lightweight mode by copying the LWAPP ios to its flash and issuing the command boot system flash IOS_file_Name. After that I was unable to associate the AP to my wireless controller because it was continiously rebooting. Unfortunately this AP does not have a console port so I can access the debug and see what is happening. And I was not able to switch it back to the autonmous mode becaus the AP won't accept the Autonomous mode IOS anymore.

View 4 Replies View RelatedThis is one of our first site where we are implementing Cisco wireless, and we bought some external Autonomous AP1262, when we should have bought Lightweight LAP1262 . We can get those replaced, but I am looking into migrating them in order to get them to register with our 5508 controllers.
There do not seem to be a migration tool to download for 1262. Must it be done via the WCS ?So far I have not managed to add these autonomous AP to the controllers. How to know if a migration toll exists for those !
We have some Cisco Aironet 1142N Autonomous access points installed, currently running 12.4(21a)JA1 IOS system software:
System Software Filename: c1140-k9w7-tar.124-21a.JA1
System Software Version: 12.4(21a)JA1
Bootloader Version: 12.4(23c)JA3
We tried to install the following Autonomous AP IOS software update:
Release 15.2.2-JA ED (c1140-k9w7-tar.152-2.JA.tar) 30-AUG-2012
But the 15.2.2-JA system software release does not install via TFTP Web-GUI (from a accessible PumpKIN TFTP-Server poining on that software update).
What's the problem with that?Is that system software release 15.2.2-JA ED (c1140-k9w7-tar.152-2.JA.tar) not compatible to the Cisco Aironet 1142N Autonomous access points

I have a 2 X 4510E switch with dual sup-7E running as the core switches of my company. we would like to enable BGP on these switches, according to cisco released datasheet IPBase license does NOT support BGP. When i typed question mark, BGP commands did show up. I just wonder does BGP really works on this image/license or we need to upgrade to ent license?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased a new Cisco 881w router (last Friday).I have configured the 'wired' part of the router with little trouble, but the wireless side is proving a little challenging.I have read a number of posts complaining about the firmware version installed on my device being very buggy.The version of the firmware on the wired part is: Version 15.0(1)M8, however, the firmware on the wireless side seems to be: Version 12.4(21a)JA1 - the version reported as buggy. The former has a version date of 2012, with the latter being 2009.I have tried to download a newer version, but the site is asking me to provide a support contract.I wouldn't mind buying a support contract if the thing worked in the first place and I was trying to add some feature after it had been working for a while.

I have been told that the functionality i seek (multicasting) is only available in the IPSERVICES version of the software. I was reading up on upgrading and saw that i needed to do a show license and get the UID and Serial number and get a license that is tied to my box. But the show license command doesnt work wtih my box. i then found something that said that the 3560's were special in that way. Im not sure how to get this box upgraded. I have a different 3560 running the IPSERVICES elsewhere in my organization. Can i take the IOS Version and update my switch to that?
