Cisco Wireless :: Cannot Access WLC 4404 Administration Page Using Https

Sep 27, 2010

We have recently upgraded the software on our two WLC 4404 from software release 4.0.xxx to 4.2.xxx to  6.1.199.4 and lastly to version 7.0.98.0.

We could access the WLC's GUI's using https when it was on version 4.0.xxx. When we did the upgrades from version 4.2.xxx to 6.1.199.4 we couldn't access the Admin page through https anymore but only through normal http. We enabled https through the GUI and through the CLI and we did do the re-generation certificate , without any success. We then upgraded to version 7.0.98.0 and we still have the same result , cannot access Admin GUI through https.

The main target is to access the admin page and configure settings in order to amplify my signal in some offices away.

Cisco Wireless :: WLC526 - Change Web Log In Page From Https To Http?

Feb 17, 2012

I have a WLC526 running sw version 4.2.61.8 that I finally got around to installing in my shop for testing after sitting on the shelf for several years.  Since it's now out of warranty and I'm no longer certified getting the latest sw version isn't possible so I'm stuck with the version it shipped with.

1,  How do we change the web log in page from https to http?  No guest wants to get confronted with a certificate error page so https doesn't make sense.

2,  The virtual interface used for Web-Auth provides for a DNS Name but if I set a name it won't resolve and the log in fails.  If I delete the name it uses the assigned IP instead and works fine.  How do I get the DNS Name to work since it looks more professional?

3,  When changes are made to the WLC I was initially just applying the change and then saving the config but it appears for some of these changes to take affect I have to reboot.  It this correct or am I just missing something.

Again some of these issues are probably addressed in the subsequent sw releases but since my device sat in a box for 3+ years I missed out on the opportunity to upgrade and now TAC is telling me { (no contract || no warranty == no software) }, despite the fact that this device reached its EOL.

Cisco Wireless :: 5508 - Users With Https Home Page Not Redirected When Using Web Passthrough

Jul 18, 2012

I have a Cisco 5508 running version 7.0.116.0.  This controller hosts an open public wifi that requires users to accept a terms agreement via a Web-Passthrough setup that redirects them to the terms splash page.  For most people this works without any issue.  However, if a user has their homepage for their default browser set to a https site, such as ..., then they are never redirected to the terms splash page.  The page will just spin and spin until finally they get a timeout error.

Mar 29, 2013

I am trying to log into my WRT610N version 2.0 Router  admin page 192.168.1.1 using the secure HTTPS://192.168.1.1 protocol I have the router local management setting to allow both http and https access login:192.168.1.1/Management.asp I am using Microsoft IE version 10 and Firefox version 19.02 and latest Chrome browsers and none of them will work using the HTTPS protocol. This used to work in the past using older versions of the browsers though I would see a certicificate error warning.I have 2.00.01 build 15 firmware installed and I already tried reseting the router.  Perhaps the router needs new firmware update to handle this with the latest browsers?

Cisco :: WLC2006 - Need Custom Webauth Page Displayed With HTTP Instead Of HTTPS

Jan 31, 2007

I have a custom webauth page installed that I am using with web passthrough authentication on my WLC2006 in order to put up a acceptable use policy page. The WLC uses HTTPS to display this which causes a security certificate warning to appear if I go with the WLC's own self-signed certificate.  Is there a way I can get the WLC to use plain HTTP to display this page instead so I can eliminate the warning? I have already tried installing a trusted 3rd party certificate on the WLC, but I have this very strange problem where mucking with the WLC's web authentication certificate in any manner causes all network activity on the WLC to break except for CDP and ARP, essentially leaving the WLC dead.  Three weeks of troubleshooting with Cisco TAC has yielded no progress on that front so now I am trying to bypass the need for a security certificate altogether since I really don't need to encrypt my acceptable use policy page.

Cisco Wireless :: 4404 WCS 6.0 Access Point Groups

Jul 18, 2011

I am currently running with code WCS wityh 10 4404 controllers across 3 sites.I am currently at code level 4.2.207, and actively employ Wireless VLAN Override.I understand that when I upgrade to code 6.0.202.0,  that Wirelss VLAN Override is not available, and that I would need to configure Access Point groups.I can configure the groups, however I note a caution from: url...

Note: AP groups do not allow multicast roaming across group boundaries. AP groups allow APs on the same controller to map the same WLAN (SSID) to different VLANs. If a client roams between APs in different groups, the multicast session does not function properly because this is currently not supported. Currently, the WLC forwards multicast only for the VLAN configured on the WLAN and does not take into consideration VLANs configured in AP groups. We use Vocera here across all our sites, and Wireless VLAN Override works a treat, however I'm concerned I may come across problems with a roaming Vocera badge andAccess Point Groups - in that the badge may lose connectivity?

Linksys Wireless Router :: Unable To Access E3000 Via Https

Feb 29, 2012

I can not access my Linksys E3000 router via https://192.168.1.1.Before this mishap, I was able to gain access to my Linksys E3000 router via http://192.168.1.1 and/or the Cisco Connect software application on Windows 7. Yesterday, I went into my router's administration page and disabled http, and enabled https. I then closed out all browsers, restarted them and entered https://192.168.1.1

After that, I learned quickly I made a huge mistake to make these changes. I simply can not access my router admin wired or wirelessly. Accessing the internet works great, but router admin page is a no go.Firefox and IE states, "There is a problem with this website's security certificate." and was unable to proceed.Firefox even gave me the option to accept a security exemption to proceed, but that failed.

I have also tried using the Cisco Connect utility, and that also failed. I have taken these steps and not been able to access my router's admin page.I don't want to take the last final resort to reset my router and re-enter my settings again. I know I saved the router's backup file somewhere, but can't find it.Is there another way for me to gain access via https with http disabled? All I want to do now is go back in and change it back to enable http access.

Linksys Wireless Router :: No HTTPS Access To Admin Interface On WRT160n V3?

Feb 16, 2012

I was unable to access the web admin on my WRT160n v3 w/ latest firmware this morning. Reset config to defaults & was able to get in. Enabled HTTPS access & disabled HTTP access & was right back where I started; reset to defaults again & left both boxes checked. Can access via HTTP, but HTTPS requests get refused/reset.

The reason I needed access was that when I booted up my laptop this morning, my wireless card wasn't picking up an IP address via WIFI, only worked via ethernet, so I need to see what was going on there — several reboots of the router didn't fix, nor has it fixed the HTTPS access problem described above.

Cisco Wireless :: Can't Access WAP4410N Management Page

Nov 8, 2010

I just managed to get hold of an old second hand WAP4410N from a friend who got it for work but never really had the time to get it working. I powered it up and performed a 30/30/30 reset to get rid of anything he may have done to it but now I'm struggling to get to the management page. The power light is steady and the ethernet light shows activity but I can't seem to find it on any IPs. I've tried both hooking it into a router and setting up a laptop with an IP of 192.168.1.2,  subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 and gateway of 192.168.1.245 and I still have no luck. I'll fiddle with it more tomorrow but it'll probably just involve messing around with more settings and resetting it again, nothing of any real structure. Is there any way of forcing a new firmware onto it over the MAC address or something, for example?

Protocols / Routing :: Can't Access Wireless Repeater Set-up / Admin Page

Dec 27, 2012

I have two wireless repeaters and can no longer access their set-up / admin page via default IP 192.168.10.1,I don't know the brand of the repeaters, which are commonly sold on eBay. Here's one example: eBay Item # 300829809133, They work well as repeaters, but it's frustrating that I can no longer access their set-up / admin page via default IP 192.168.10.1. Right now I have only one repeater plugged in and connected to my laptop via ethernet cable. The 2nd repeater is unplugged. The Wifi on my laptop is switched off and disabled, so I'm actually connected to the Internet via my laptop's ethernet port via ethernet cable to the repeater's ethernet port, then via wifi signal from the repeater to my Zyxel wireless router and Comcast cable modem. If I'm connected to the Internet via the repeater, why can't I access the repeater's set-up / admin page using default IP 192.168.10.1? Linksys Wireless Router :: Cannot Access WRT54G Setup Page

Jan 19, 2013

I have a WRT54G router that I have not used for many years, but now I need to use it again. I have connected it between my modem and PC, and I am able to get an internet connection on the PC, but I am unable to connect to the router's configuration page. I have tried resetting the router numerous times (holding the reset button 5 seconds, 10 seconds, even longer) to reset the IP address to the default 192.168.1.1 address, but still cannot access the page. The power LED is on and the WLAN and Internet LEDs are on, and the LED for the port my PC is connected to is on. The hardware version of the router is v3. I tried downloading the latest firmware, but without being anble to communicate with the router at the IP address I cannot update the firmware. How can I go about connectiong to the router's setup page? When using ipconfig, the Default Gateway appears to still point to my ISP's IP address instead of the router's.

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT54G - How To Access Setup Page

Apr 27, 2012

When I had DSL, my WRT54G was my DHCP master for my home network.  When I got AT&T U-Verse, their "gateway" became the DHCP master and also the wireless access point.  But the signal was not strong enough where I wanted to use it, so I hooked up the WRT54G again.  I discovered that if I connected the U-Verse gateway to the "Internet" port on the WRT54G Linksys, then my home network was split in two, which I did not want.  The WRT54G access point is physically somewhat distant from my wired computer, so I wanted to keep the U-Verse gateway as the DHCP master. (The U-Verse gateway is a router with four "computer" ports but no "Internet" port.)

I followed instructions on the Linksys web site, and using my wi-fi connected computer I re-programmed the WRT54G to be "Disabled" as a DHCP server.  Then I powered down and physically connected the U-Verse gateway to a "Computer" port on the WRT54G.  This solved my problem:  my distant wi-fi computer now has a good signal, and both computers "see" each other.

However, now I seem to have lost access to the WRT54G setup "web page."  Is it possible to access the innards of the WRT54G when its DHCP service is disabled?  Or would I have to reset the device to factory configuration and start all over if I wanted to make any tweaks?

Linksys Wireless Router :: 1721 - Can't Access Setup Page

Jul 11, 2012

My internet is T1 by Verizon. My mom's company Siemens pays for our internet because she works from home as medical tech support on the phone. Okay so the T1 had to be laid out to our house underground I think because where we live, other brands of internet aren't available. The T1 goes from the box outside into our basement and hooks up to a Cisco 1721 modem. From the 1721 the internet goes out to a wireless router that is sitting right next to it. This wireless router is a Linksys WRT160N V2. We have several cables coming out of the WRT160N V2 to go to the first floor for hardwired connections, but one cable goes to the attic and connects to a second wireless router. The second wireless router is a Linksys E2000. We have several cables coming out of the E2000 that go to the 2nd floor to serve as hardwired connections.Okay so let me explain where things went wrong.

After a storm our power went out. Eventually the power came back on, but every now and then our internet would shut off for like half a day then turn right back on, so our internet was getting really really spotty. The AL light on the Cisco 1721 would come on every time the internet went out. It was so bad that my mom had to get an aircard from verizon to get internet. So after two weeks of spotty service and arguing with verizon trying to get them to come fix the problem, they said try resetting your wireless routers because they might have "bad data" in the lines causing spotty connection. So we reset the wireless routers by holding down the reset buttons on the back. Well.. this reset all of the settings for the routers which Cisco facilitated set up, and now our wireless routers are out of warranty date so they can't set the wireless routers back up. However, we have copies of the online wireless router set up page, so we thought maybe we could just set them up ourselves.Well the problem is... We don't know how to connect to the wireless setup pages.. I read something on the internet about setting up wireless networks and to type 192.168.1.1 into our browser(Mozilla Firefox) and that would bring us to the wireless setup page. But the page does NOT ever come up.

Another way to find the IP address of our wireless routers would be to try going to the cmd and typing in ipconfig and using the Default Gateway IP address for the browser to connect to the setup page but that doesn't work out either.... Right now I unhooked the Linksys WRT160N V2 and hardlined the Cisco 1721 to the Linksys E2000 to a PC on the second floor because I figured it wouldn't work out if we had two wireless routers running at the same time. Currently the browser is taking me no where at all. It just says "Connecting..." but nothing is loading up at all.I tried hardlining from the Cisco 1721 to my mom's laptop, which is her work computer, and I got no response at all. I figured it might just be her work computer that was messing up and not allowing her to hardline into the 1721 so I tried hardlining the Cisco 1721 straight to the PC desktop on the second floor(we have no other laptops other than my mom's work laptop) and nothing went through. Then my dad says the Cisco 1721 has been configured so it doesn't direct connect, meaning that it has to go through a wireless router.
