Cisco Wireless :: Connecting Two PLW400s To One PLE400

Dec 31, 2012

I just purchased two Linksys PLWK400 box sets — each contains one PLE400 and one PLW400. My intention was to set up one PLE400 by my router and then use the other two PLW400 to extend the wireless throughout my apartment (wifi is atrocious despite the apartment only being 1000sq feet).

All of the outlets are on the same circuit breaker and I can get the PLW400's to each work by themselves in different locations, but I can't get the network to recognize both of them at the same time. Once one is connected, the other is not recnognized (the Powerline LED never turns on).I am using the OSX "Cisco Powerline AV Utility" to set up WiFi passwords for each wireless unit. The Utility does not see the second PLW400 either.

I'm stuck and the documentation that came with the product (and available online) is so poor, there is no information about this usage — though individual product descriptions imply that it is possible.

Cisco VPN :: E4200 - Connecting To Local LAN After Connecting To AnyConnect Secure

Apr 1, 2012

I connect to my corporate network using Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client.  Once connected I can no longer print to my LAN attached printer and other local resources.  I use the Cisco/Lyncsys E4200 router on my LAN and can re-connect to the storage on the local LAN by setting up Port Forwarding of port 21 and MS Windows FTP folder sharing.  However, I can't seem to connect to a Terminal Services client by forwarding port 3389.  Is there a way to connect to the local LAN after logging into the VPN connection.  I can connect to regular HTTP/HTTPS sites and most other type of connectiins, just not my own local resources.

USB Wireless Isn't Connecting

Jul 29, 2011

We just moved, and the family room (where the desktop is) had no coaxial outlet. The exterior box is at the other side of the house, and instead of wiring around our entire home, cable guy said we could easily set it up where the previous owners did (living room), and use a Netgear USB to make the desktop wireless. At Best Buy, I was told to buy Netgear N600 Wireless Dual Band USB Adapter WNDA3100 for $50. I install with the cd, and then plug in the USB as it suggests, and it just blinks from yellow to blue, not picking up my netgear wireless router in the other room. I go back to Best Buy, and they say that I need to buy another thing, now it's Netgear XET1001 85 Mbps Wall-Plugged Ethernet Adapter for another $70.Plugged one unit into the wall, and then plugged it into the Netgear Wireless Router. This will give me a solid light for Power LED and Ethernet LED, and then the middle, Powerline LED is a solid blue. With the second adapter, I plugged that in to my family room (with the desktop) and attached it also to my desktop with it's cord. This one has a solid light for the Power and Ethernet LED, but for the Powerline LED it's off. So it's not finding the other compatiable key, if I put it in between the wireless router, and my desktop (in the hall or kitchen) it will have all lights on, but I can't connect it with the cord to the desktop, and the USB does not pick it up any point.

Now, I can connect with my phone to the wireless network anywhere in my house, including the second floor. However, I can not, with or without the wireless adapters, connect with my laptop to the wireless network. I've done wireless with my laptop since I purchased it a few years ago, and while it can "see" the network, when I try to connect I get an error message that it's unable to join the network, and is now out of range, even when I'm sitting right in front of my modem/wireless router. It doesn't prompt for the password, I tried to manually add the password under network properties but it did the same error.I just don't know what to do or to try next, I don't know if I've set it up wrong, I followed the pictures in the manual, which is all it pretty much comes with, and did all the installation disks. Without it though I can't connect with my laptop, but my phones can..

Linksys Wireless Router :: E1550 Loses Wireless Clients After Connecting USB?

Sep 22, 2011

I recently purchased a E1550 that works fine until I tried adding an external USB HDD for storage. The drive is a Western Digital 500MB drive I used to use for backups.  Had no issues setting up the share and was able to access it just fine. But a few hours after hooking it up, my wireless devices could no longer connect and I could not access the admin page to see what was wrong. The E1550 was still pingable and my wired devices could still access sites through the router. Cycling power to the router did not work. What did get things working again was removing the USB drive (which killed all wired connections as well) and then cycling power. The E1550 was fine after that.

Cisco Wireless :: Connecting To WAP4410N With HTC Desire

Feb 20, 2012

Having a bit of a strange issue with our Access Point at the moment. I recently set up a WAP4410N as our main WiFi hotspot using WPA2 encryption and it seemed to be working fine for all users, We had no issues when connecting Windows 7 laptops or windows phone 7 phones. However, we have a few people in our office that use HTC desire phones and while the phone will connect to the network it will not allow the user to browse the web or access any internet enabled features on their phone. The more puzzling thing is that a user with a HTC wildfire phone is able to connect to the hotspot without issue meaning it can't be a general Android issue.

Cisco Wireless :: LAP1142N Connecting With AIR-WLC2112-K9?

May 29, 2013

I'm in the process of trying to get a used LAP1142N access point connected to my already established WLAN. We currently have 7 active LAP1142N, our controller is a AIR-WLC2112-K9, and I am only trying to add one additional access point. I say this access point is used because we purchased it used, given it's not out of the box and hasn't ever been active in my environment. So far what I've tried is initially connecting the access point on to my network (powered over Ethernet) and consoled in from my desktop. With this, I was able to see the previous configuration so I ran a write erase/ reload. The AP shows a solid green light, but doesn't receive any configuration from the controller even when plugged directly in to the controller (on ports 7 and 8). I'm new to wireless, but familiar with Cisco CLI and web interfaces. I can't necessarily tell if this AP is set to autonomous as opposed to lightweight, but that could be the problem. Otherwise I'm lost. I've attached text files with the boot from CLI and show run from CLI.Let me know any additional information you may need. End note, I'm recieving DHCP (you can tell from boot), but it's not the same subnet as my controller or other active access points.

Cisco Wireless :: Connecting An SPA 3102 After Computer

Jan 3, 2012

I am moving to a house in a fairly remote part of Australia without a telephone connection. To get the phone connected will be very expensive and take considerable time. I have mobile phone and wireless internet connection available but only with the most expensive provider. I am not a big user of the phone but every now and then, I have to make one of those calls that go through adozen menus and then leave you on hold for an hour, theb type of call that can send you bankrupt using a mobile service. My proposed solution is to have a prepaid wireless internet account, using a USB dongle connected to my computer as the internet connection. Then to connect either a SPA3102 or a PAP 2T between the computer and a handset and use a VOIP service such as Voipcheap to make calls. With this setup, I would have unlimited landline calls within Australia for around $50 per year, much less that something like Skype. Can I do this and if so, how? I have both devices and they are both presently configured to work connected to my Linksys gateway. Do I connect the computer to the LAN or eithernet of the SPA 3102 and will it just require a normal LAN cable? How do I assign the various addresses required? Do I need any extra software for my computer?

Cisco Wireless :: 891W Connecting To WLC 5508?

May 2, 2012

I am having problems connecting an 891w to a WLC, is it possible to have to separate vlans, one for the Lan ports and another for the AP module.

I do not want the AP part of the 891w in autonomous mode. The WAN port of the router will be connected to a DSL type service.

Is there a guide or something to get a 891W to connect to the WLC?

I would like to have users on a data vlan (vlan1) connecting to the network like a normal router, then the AP module to connect to the WLC via a different IP probably vlan 2

On the WLC itself i do not see any attempts in the logging.

Cisco Wireless :: IPad Not Connecting To AP 1142?

Jan 18, 2012

I have an ipad that is not able to connect to a 1142 Autonomous AP. This AP was originally a light weight AP and then downgraded to autonomous.A strange thing i see is that the AP shows me only two radios. 802.11 N(2.4 GHZ) and 802.11 N(5 GHZ). I suspected the AP not to support the b/g networks. i then downloaded the most recent software but i still cannot get it to connect and on the AP's GUI i only see the above two mentionned radios. i tried to connect to two SSID's. one using WPA2 and another with open authentication and no security.but this does not work. Is it possible that some 1142 do not support b/g networks?

Trying to add 2 Access Points (AIR-SAP1602I-A-K9).  I created static IPs for both in the router (RV180).  The Access Points are connected to the PoE ports on the Cisco Switch (SG200-08P).  The 2504 is connect to one of the non-PoE ports on the SG200.  The SG200 is then connected to another switch (SF302-8P), which is connected to the Router (RV180), which is connected to the cable modem (Cisco DCM3000).

I am able to ping both of the access points from within the LAN, but they do not show-up on the 2504 console.

Connecting To Router With Wireless PC?

Jul 30, 2012

My internet was running perfectly fine for the first 6-9 months, but recently has deteriorated to a mess (keeps getting booted on and off or slows to the point where it's virtually unusable). It seems to be the worst on weeknights and weekends.<removed by moderator - etaf>, For reference, I am running a Windows 7 machine, connecting wirelessly through a Netgear WNR1000 router. When connected to the router using an ethernet cable, it works perfectly fine. There is another wired device which works fine, so it's mainly the wifi connection. For my Windows 7 PC, the wireless cuts in and out (working fine now), and oftentimes drops me. I have to reset the router/modem multiple times just to be able to use it. My roommate who also has a wireless PC also has problems connecting wirelessly as well. Currently, I have IPV4 connectivity, but no IPV6 connectivity.

My ipconfig below:

But the laptops are getting connected through WiFi. Since my PC has no WiFi, it uses this data card. My PC is not getting connected to the internet.
