We just moved, and the family room (where the desktop is) had no coaxial outlet. The exterior box is at the other side of the house, and instead of wiring around our entire home, cable guy said we could easily set it up where the previous owners did (living room), and use a Netgear USB to make the desktop wireless.At Best Buy, I was told to buy Netgear N600 Wireless Dual Band USB Adapter WNDA3100 for $50. I install with the cd, and then plug in the USB as it suggests, and it just blinks from yellow to blue, not picking up my netgear wireless router in the other room. I go back to Best Buy, and they say that I need to buy another thing, now it's Netgear XET1001 85 Mbps Wall-Plugged Ethernet Adapter for another $70.Plugged one unit into the wall, and then plugged it into the Netgear Wireless Router. This will give me a solid light for Power LED and Ethernet LED, and then the middle, Powerline LED is a solid blue. With the second adapter, I plugged that in to my family room (with the desktop) and attached it also to my desktop with it's cord. This one has a solid light for the Power and Ethernet LED, but for the Powerline LED it's off. So it's not finding the other compatiable key, if I put it in between the wireless router, and my desktop (in the hall or kitchen) it will have all lights on, but I can't connect it with the cord to the desktop, and the USB does not pick it up any point.
Now, I can connect with my phone to the wireless network anywhere in my house, including the second floor. However, I can not, with or without the wireless adapters, connect with my laptop to the wireless network. I've done wireless with my laptop since I purchased it a few years ago, and while it can "see" the network, when I try to connect I get an error message that it's unable to join the network, and is now out of range, even when I'm sitting right in front of my modem/wireless router. It doesn't prompt for the password, I tried to manually add the password under network properties but it did the same error.I just don't know what to do or to try next, I don't know if I've set it up wrong, I followed the pictures in the manual, which is all it pretty much comes with, and did all the installation disks. Without it though I can't connect with my laptop, but my phones can..
I connect to my corporate network using Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client. Once connected I can no longer print to my LAN attached printer and other local resources. I use the Cisco/Lyncsys E4200 router on my LAN and can re-connect to the storage on the local LAN by setting up Port Forwarding of port 21 and MS Windows FTP folder sharing. However, I can't seem to connect to a Terminal Services client by forwarding port 3389. Is there a way to connect to the local LAN after logging into the VPN connection. I can connect to regular HTTP/HTTPS sites and most other type of connectiins, just not my own local resources.

I have had troubles connecting my PS3 to my Orange livebox. At first, I had the problem that it could not obtain the IP address so I manually entered it. This solved the problem. However, I also manually entered the Subnet Mask, Default Router (Gateway), Primary DNS and Secondary DNS. Now when connecting, it says I have a DNS error.(80710102)
I recently purchased a E1550 that works fine until I tried adding an external USB HDD for storage. The drive is a Western Digital 500MB drive I used to use for backups. Had no issues setting up the share and was able to access it just fine. But a few hours after hooking it up, my wireless devices could no longer connect and I could not access the admin page to see what was wrong. The E1550 was still pingable and my wired devices could still access sites through the router. Cycling power to the router did not work. What did get things working again was removing the USB drive (which killed all wired connections as well) and then cycling power. The E1550 was fine after that.
So I just got a wireless presentation gateway wpg 120 to connect to projector wirelessly. For me to connect to the projector i need to set wireless network to its wireless connection. But if I connect to wpg 120's connection, there is no internet access.Is there any way I can connect to two wireless network or use wpg 120 to connect to internet using it's connection.
My internet was running perfectly fine for the first 6-9 months, but recently has deteriorated to a mess (keeps getting booted on and off or slows to the point where it's virtually unusable). When connected to the router using an ethernet cable, it works perfectly fine. There is another wired device which works fine, so it's mainly the wifi connection. For my Windows 7 PC, the wireless cuts in and out (working fine now), and oftentimes drops me. I have to reset the router/modem multiple times just to be able to use it. My roommate who also has a wireless PC also has problems connecting wirelessly as well. Currently, I have IPV4 connectivity, but no IPV6 connectivity.
I have a wireless modem. Its main connections are power, and phone line. Since its a wireless modem it is not connected to my PC through wire. i have a Data card USB which is plugged in my PC. The wireless modem senses this Data card and my internet was working normally. I live in New-Zealand and I was having a Telstra Clear connection with their modem and Data card. Since it was acquired by Telecom, the internet provider had given me this new wireless modem but the Data card remains the same.Now this new wireless modem is not connecting. But the laptops are getting connected through WiFi. Since my PC has no WiFi, it uses this data card. My PC is not getting connected to the internet. I tried plugging in the USB Data card in and out, updating the drivers and stuff.I want my PC to get connected to the internet.
This is a problem i had after i reinstalled windows vista on my laptop. I recently reinstalled windows vista onto a laptop. The laptop is unable to find the router. I checked the drivers, and i am not sure if im missing any. There is a yellow mark on my network controller, but there is no description or details for it. The internet works while connected to an etherent cable directly to my router. I went to the manufacture website (dell), and downloaded/updated the drivers. I've been having a ton of problems with fixing my connection with my wireless network. A few months ago, I lost connection on my desktop computer and I reconnected... however, it didn't actually connect. When I hovered my cursor over the Wireless Network Connection icon, it just said "Acquiring Network Address" and never connected. I got onto my laptop and did a quick search on the problem. A few wrong moves later, and I couldn't even find my wireless network.
Despite all of my attempts at creating a connection, I still have no internet. I've even tried plugging my computer into my WRT54G router via cable, and still no connection. It's not the router that's the problem, though, as my two other computers and xbox have perfect internet connection.

I just had charter install a wireless cable modem into my house and it was put in my study. however, i would now like to get my xbox 360 running as well as the internet for my blue-ray player and tv. So i bought a wireless router.The modem from charter is called: Ubee wireless cable modem (from charter)The wireless router purchases is: Netgear N300 wireless router (wnr2000v3) I am trying to connect them wirelessly. The router is a Sagem provided by my ISP (Sky). The wireless connection works fine on my MacBook, and various other devices connect no problem with the security key.
However, his laptop (Windows Vista) will not connect wirelessly. After entering the password, it says it can't connect because it 'times out' (we are obviously entering the password immediately with no delay). It connects fine with an ethernet cable. It will also connect to an unsecured wireless network we can pick up.
The security setup is WPA-PSK with TKIP encryption, and we've made sure he is using these settings.
If it might be important, he has just moved here, and previously his laptop was connected to another Sky router with no problems.
trying to get an IP address from a public wireless network. I am trying to connect to the wireless network here and I get good signal, but it says, that my access has "Limited Connectivity". I then tried to see why my laptop could not access the system and ran "ipconfig/all" in the command prompt. I pasted the results below. I don't know a ton about computers and why my computer will not get a correct IP address (it sends back that the IP address is 169.254.44.160 as opposed to a 10.xxx.xxx.x that the network should be passing out).

I recently set up a VPN on my home computer. I am wondering if it is possible for me to connect to the internet via the VPN without also being connected to the internet via my home wireless network? Right now, whenever I disconnect from my home wireless network, my connection to the VPN will also cut off. This is a problem because should my connection via the VPN ever be interrupted, my home wireless connection would then "take over" the connection, and the eb sites I'm visiting would then be able to see my real IP address, which makes having a VPN pointless. I'd like to have it so that if my VPN connection is interrupted, I will simply not have internet until the VPN connection comes back.
I have a new n series Belnet wireless router that can take a usb printer. I have a Lexmark 2200 Series 1 Printer (with usb connection). I have used this printer with my laptop (runs Windows xp) by connecting the printer usb directly. I have also connected my laptop to the wireless router. I have plugged the printer into the wireless router's usb port. Is it possible to access the printer this way? I do not know what I should do next. The laptop cannot access the printer through the wireless.

I bought an old IBM Think Pad laptop and i cant seem to connect to my wireless router. I have another laptop which connected with no problem just simply typed the wireless password in and all work fine and the same for my iphone. First problem was when I got asked for the wireless password it came up with a message say " The network password needs to be 40bits or 104bits depending on your network comfiguration".
